Comic relief: If you're an avid hunter in Ssra or Velketor's Labyrinth, you should be well aware of the pesky AE dispell traps placed in a number of places throughout the zone. Normally, they remain stationary. However, lately they've become "mobile" by attaching themselves to players and following them around. What's the big deal, you ask? Well every 10 seconds, these traps dispell four buffs from every player within a pretty big radius. This can make for *quite* the inconvenience. While not very amusing when it's happening to you (or your entire raid), the concept is good for a laugh.

Thankfully this is a bug and, according to Alan of the Developer's Corner, will be corrected in the next patch.

Don't forget that there is a big patch tomorrow.  The servers are going down at 2:00 A.M. PST for about 8 hours and then are expected to go back down again for 4 to 6 hours.  Basically tomorrow wouldn't be a good day to play hookie for Everquest.  You can also expect this site to be slow as everyone who would normally be playing comes here instead.  The biggest change expected is the revamp of Steamfont and introduction of the gnome newbie quests. In that spirit, I entered a few gnome quests and items today that were sent in from the test server.  I'm also told there will be changes to Ssra Temple, The Hole and Lord Seru.

If you are a premium member and are still getting popup ads, and you have checked to make sure you have cookies enabled and that your computer's date and time are correct, the most likely explanation is that you have downloaded some sort of scumware along with another program that randomly pops ads while you surf the net.  The two most popular programs that do this are Morpheus and Kazaa.  There is a program you can download that checks your computer for these programs called ad-aware. You can get it at this link. (or if that's down try this one).  Morpheus also has the unpleasant effect of redirecting links to shopping pages such as amazon.com, so that instead of the site that sent you getting credit for the sale, the referral goes to Morpheus.  Thus the many sites that rely upon this type of referral income to help pay for their bandwidth are now starting to feel a bite from losing sales to Morpheus (as if the collapse of internet ad revenue wasn't enough).  I'm telling you this more as an fyi.  While our site does get some revenue from amazon links, we rely mainly upon the premium memberships to pay our bills.  But there are other good sites out there who need that revenue to keep going, so you may want to think twice about downloading Morpheus or Kazaa.

It's official!  Sony has now officially acknowledged the launch of Everquest 2, with shipment scheduled for Winter, 2003.  You can read the whole press release and add your comments at this link, but here is the gist of it:
