This quest is for good aligned casters.

Xalirilan Zarinokosalio says 'Oi there! Its nice to meet you Celebus, you must excuse me for I am currently working on a special spell for my studies. I would love to talk but I have to teach a class very soon to the new [initiates] and I don't have my lesson prepared yet. Are you also a [young initiate of the Eldritch Collective]? If you are then I hope you will be ready for the lesson.'

You say, 'I am a young Initiate of the Eldritch Collective'

Xalirilan Zarinokosalio says 'Excellent. You must understand that I am very pressed for time but if you are a young initiate of the Collective then I always have time to share my knowledge with you. If you are interested I have some [training] for you to begin. These tasks will help you prepare for the upcoming lesson as well!'

You say, 'what training?'

Xalirilan Zarinokosalio says 'I have a number of tasks that I ask new recruits of the Eldritch Collective to complete. These task will test both your ability to fight as well as your navigational skills, 2 very important factors on your road to infinite knowledge. When you are ready to begin your journeys I will present you with a Tinkered Sewing Kit that you will use to gather numerous [important components].'

You say, 'what are the important components?'

Xalirilan Zarinokosalio says 'All right then Celebus, here is your Tinkered Sewing Kit. In this sewing kit you will combine a number of recipes that will be used for creating your Eldritch Collective Initiate Armor. When you are ready to craft a certain armor piece all you must to is tell me which piece you [want] to craft. I will then present you with the component recipe along with the applicable pattern for [Caps], [Bracers], [Sleeves], [Sandals], [Trousers], [Gloves] and [Robes]. When you have completed the material for whatever piece you asked for you will combine it in a sewing kit with the appropriate pattern to fashion your armor piece. I do suggest though that you attempt your robe last as the components are more difficult then any other piece to collect.'

You say, 'I want to craft sleeves'

Xalirilan Zarinokosalio says 'Your sleeves will be a very important part of your armor set. To create your sleeves material you will need to combine 2 Grikbar Kobold Scalps, 2 Coyote Skulls and Cloth Sleeves in your assembly kit. Once you have created the proper material take it to a sewing kit along with this pattern to fashion your very own Sleeves of the Collective Initiate.'

Broken

I can only asssume this is broken. I combines the skulls, the scalps and the sleeves to create the material. Attempting to combine the sleeve material and the sleeve pattern, however, results in the message that they do not combine.

Make sure that you use a CLOTH SLEEVE and not a SMALL cloth sleeve. The same goes for the other recipes.

I've recently tried to do this quest as well. I am useing the tinkered sewing kit, and I have the correct materials. 2 coyote skulls, 2 Grikbar Kobald Scalps(and they are not stacked), cloth sleeves, and the sleeves pattern from Xalirilan. I've tried to combine just the 2 coyote skulls with the 2 Scalps. I've tried with and without the pattern, and the same with and without the sleeves. This is not working at this time. What needs to be done to let them know about it?

I recently made mine...I had no problem...You are trying to combine the sleeve material and the pattern in a regular sewing kit (meaning not the tinkered one he gave you that you created the material in), aren't you?

You need the pattern he gives you for saying i want to craft sleeves. This is the problem I was having. I was trying to use a sleeve pattern from the store...

This list is in more detail on one of the other pieces, but I thought I'd add it in breif to the rest. For more details, look at the Eldritch Collective Initiate Bracer, message name "drop" by "mikeagne".

page 4 from Halorniop
These pages give you the caster's book. According to another poster, the gnome camp is in Steamfont at -1160, -1760. They are all level 10, and do not agro. As I have not looked for them yet, I cannot confirm this. Just thought you'd like to know.

Honorable, thanks for the good information on what's needed, as well as those annoying little gnomes who have the pages. I will confirm that it is at approximately -1160 by -1760, but to find it you can simply run along the wall, if you are leaving Ak'Anon, turn right and run run run! You can't miss it, there are about 15 of them all in one place... I would recommend a newbie get all of this armor, except for the robe. Much better robes out there for pretty cheap. Any newbie with 200p can buy an Advisor Robe or Robe of the Oracle.

My enchanter is level 9, with a 15 tailoring skill, which he got by combining spiderling silks in a small sewing kit. (yes, he's self sufficient and at this time that's all he could afford)...
Spiderling silks are no fail combines, so you always get a silk thread back.

At skill 15, this armor was trivial for me, I could not advance from making it.

As said, the 2nd post from bottom is exactly correct, and remember do NOT stack ingredients like with any combine.

You need "Cloth Sleeves"

"Small Cloth Sleeves" will NOT work. Go buy them from Felwithe for now. Eventually they should fix it so the quest requires small cloth but no big deal.
This is where travel comes in

The CLOTH is in the high elf city Felewithe. Small will not work with any of these. Make sure cloth is just that and not small. Haven't found any armor in akanon that isn't small :) Good luck

I always have the right components in the Tink Sewing Kit. It keeps on telling me I can't combine these items in this container. I tried to combine the sleeves, then I tried the gloves. But they arent working at all! What's wrong?

I had same problem and finally succeeded.
IMHO, you need to divide stackable components into each slots.
- that is
1 Grikbar Kobold Scalps
1 Grikbar Kobold Scalps
2 coyote skull (not stackable)
Cloth sleeves

Where is he?

I just want to know where in Ak'Anon Xalirilan Zarinokosalio is. Also, I am agnostic, not a true good aligned char. I am all the way over in LOIO and don't want to make the trip if I can't use them.

Agnostic is considered to be good aligned. Basically, if you are Gnome pure caster (which you are) and you aren't a follower of Bertox (which you aren't), you can do these quests and use the items.
Armor types?
# May 21 2002 at 11:30 AM Rating: Decent
I can't get these to combine. However, I suspect it's because I'm using 'small cloth sleeves' and not 'cloth sleeves'. So, anyone know for sure?

I also can't combine the ingredients in the Tinkered sewing kit. Keeps telling me "You cannot combine these items in this container type". I know I'm doing the right thing because I was able to make the gloves. Has anyone successfully made these?

Is this quest broken? I have the right components but it wont let me combine them. What am i supposed to combine them in?
RE: help
# May 15 2002 at 11:42 AM Rating: Excellent
You have to combine the 2 scalps, 2 Coyote Skulls, and cloth sleeves in the tink sewing kit. THEN you have to take that material and combine it with the enchanted sleeve pattern in a regular sewing kit.
