Odd stats, the reason behind them...

Well, once long ago... before Kunark came out... folks asked similar questions about all the planar armor stats. Verant's response was "We want the players to have well rounded stats"

Now that the game is venerable, we all know that some stats are useful and some aren't, depending on your class. If things were like pen and paper D&D, all stats would actually be useful for all classes, but alas, this isn't the case, as we all know.

The only reason now to get a set of the original planar armor is for bragging rights, IMO, since there are SO many better and easier to get alternatives. (Except perhaps the BP/Legs and some select items)
Why not add wisdom or another practically useless stat?

+9 INT??? I know we bards are "INT hybrids", but is the difference in mana really that much? And don't forget that we only have 2 songs that use mana, both of which not very useful in the high level game. So why not give us some wisdom while you're at it guys? Sheesh. Well maybe we can wear these when we are crafting. 16ac looks nice though, only good part if you ask me.

I don't what you base your usefulness on, but I have always found the 39 Charm song to be incredibly useful. I take it you don't find swarmkiting useful?

Anyway, 9 Int may not be everyone's ideal stat (mine either), but at least it does us some good. I blow through my mana pretty fast when I solo, so anything that can make it last a bit longer is very welcome in my setup.

Manapool isn't important.

I can swarmkite forever with MC2 and 40 int

Yes you have more mana so you can charm for a longer time.
BUT you will have a bigger downtime because of the mana regen speed which stays the same.

So i would say that these vambraces are worthless. Better try to get some singing steel.
