You say, 'i want to craft a dismal knight breastplate' Quan Nektogo says 'To assemble a Dismal Knight Breastplate you will need to obtain four bricks of crude iron and smelt them in a [forge] with a Water Flask and this Crude Breastplate Mold. I can not find "Quan Nektogo"
they spawn pretty often along the road near the hut between inn 1 and 2, and a little west of inn 2. the guards love to kill them quickly, especially slate, so you will need to pull the scarabs away from the pathway or watch closely for slate.

Shoping list for the whole set:
16 bricks of crude iron
8 water flasks
6 ruined cat pelts
3 low quality cat pelts
1 medium quality cat pelt
giant leaf scarab carapace (dont confuse with the regular carapace)
2 giant leaf scarab tergites
2 large leaf scarab tarsi
2 large leaf scarab sternites
2 large leaf scarab patella
2 large leaf scarab eyes
2 leaf scarab tarsi
2 leaf scarab sternites
Remember, only make one bracer at a time to keep from loosing parts.
Getting the bricks is relativly easy, the orc pawns in east commons drop them.
The best and probably only place you will get these little buggers to consistantly pop is by Inn number 1. I managed to get both parts in about a hour and a half. I found it helpful to kill off most of the other spawns around this area repeatedly till the scarabs started to pop.
The large Leaf Scarab will be your bane and mock you constantly. They are hard to get, and are spread from the area just west of Inn 1 all the way down to the west commons on the southern half of the zone. The seem to share this area with large spiders, large fire beatles, bears and cats. Its a big area and the spawns when you clear it drop all over this area.
I have had no trouble finding and killing the Giant Leaf Scarabs, they seem to pop quite often and drop decently the required items. Best spot is just past orc camp 1 at the hidden inn. If it gets a bit thin run over to inn 3 near the WC boarder, or troll up and down the "death strip" as I like to call it between orc 1 and 2. Just don't forget to bring cat repelant.

personally im not doing 2 bracers, mostly because it would be even more work, plus i have a bracer on him already. so that knocks off 1 brick of ore, 1 flask of water, ruined cat pelt, and a leaf scarab sternite.
for the leaf scarabs, i just got done with the leaf scarab tarsus, kill off every fire beetle you see and stay around the ditch in front of inn 1, they spawn like mad in that area. they also seem to have spawned more during the day than night, but that might just be a coincidence. expect to spend a few hours hunting, and make friends with a ranger to help find them.

I can't stand all these nodrop quest items that seem to be extremely rare. I've gotten up to level 9... or is it 10? fighting just members of the leaf scarab family and I've only got gauntlets and bracer to show for it.. *sigh*

This quest can be done. It seems hard and it is. But the items do drop. I have spent levels 4 to 11 just in East commons getting the items. One thing that will help is don't get the bricks from the orcs untill you have enough of the other stuff to complete one piece of armor. There are plenty of orcs and they will drop the ore about 1 in 3 kills. Also I have killed as many beetles as possible to hopefully make the scarabs spawn faster. Or you could hire a Ranger to help track them if you need that. I thought this quest was really a good start in the early levels and I am only in need of one piece before I complete the entire set. Good luck and hang in there.

WTF is a smelt? doesn't appear on equipment list, what does that mean? where can i get one? PLEASE ASSIST!
It's an in-character way of saying "Put this crap in the forge and hit combine." In this case you put 4 iron bricks, a flask of water, and the breastplate mold in.

ive turned the note into quan 2 times now, and both times i receive the box and no message or anything ... he wont respond to anything but hails, and gives me that, " sorry, nothing to sell, ect ect " crap ... can anyone help me out? and im wondering .... what the hell are these tergites? they no drop or .... ? any info is appreciated greatly

I just got the carapice yesterday. need one more drop from the Giant leaf scarab and I can make the BP. I have the Boots 2 bracers, and the gauntlets :p

Has anyone ever witness these things drop? I've been in EC fighting for 8 to 9 hours, collecting all the other pieces for the rest of my armor, and have yet to see a Giant Leaf Scarab Carapce drop. Granted, it should be fairly rare, since it is for a nice n00b breastplate, but considering I've seen 3 or 4 Giant Fire Beetle Carapaces in the same time is making me wonder whether Verant messed something up, just like that one putrid bone that never dropped in Nektulos.

Yeah, i've seen these thing drop millions of times in East Commons. They drop off of A Giant Leaf Scarab. They are usually by the piller, off the path. Good Hunting.

The giant fire beetle carapace that you need for the pally armor is an extremely rare drop too, it's a funny looking thing that looks like a turtle shell. I've seen leaf scarab carapaces drop from giant leaf scarabs, but not a "giant leaf scarab carapace". The leaf scarab carapaces don't work. *sigh* Back to hunting...
