Has anyone seen a scribed tome page drop in a while? A rough date and when would be helpful, trying to figure out what they are for.

this zone rocks, an officer in my guild just took me and a bard to the lowbie area in the zone and took me from barely into 20 to 3 and 1/2 gold in an hour.....this zone rocks for PLs, but watch for the sarnak enthusiasts, 2 took her down low and shes a 51 war....

I am a level 33 magician. Is there anything to solo/group here or should I stay in Great Divide
RE: What lvl?
# Nov 25 2002 at 10:23 AM Rating: Decent
Yes you can solo here as a lvl 33 mage, I am a lvl 32 druid and soloed here last night. Made 3 yellows in about 3hrs, was able to do the root/rot routine with whites and yellows without any trouble. As far as selling goes, there is a vendor over by the mud pit that you can sell to even if your a good race.

IMHO, this is a great group zone. Tons of wandering 30 - 39 mobs. 3 good, safe spots to camp (FM lip, SF zone ent, and SW corner). 2 convenient zones to RUN to. My advice, get in a group and let the xp flow. 2 downsides: loot is not that great and if you are a good race you have to run all the way to LOIO to sell and all the way to FV to buy food and drink and bank. Also, if you are good race, there are 3 DE dragoons that wander at night. They have a huge aggro range, hit for a ton, and SOW will not save you. If someone says the GOONS are out, run to the nearest zone.

Can't use the new UI
# Jul 25 2002 at 8:46 AM Rating: Decent
I downloaded the new patches, did the /newui and rebooted, with the new ui I personally have the following problems - the fonts and icons are way too small and I can't read them, the spellbook may look cool but it was re-organized and I had to re-organize it to my way of viewing it (very time consuming), the fading/unfading is too distracting - having everything faded makes me, literally, sea-sick when my character moves and I am color blind so the new color scheme in the chat window is a major problem - some of the lines I cannot see at all!!!! I was able to go to the eqclient.ini and set newui=false. Unfortunately not everything is as it was - when I select inventory the picture of my character in the top right is black. Not a big fan of the newui and I don't know how long I can use the old ui before the new ui is mandatory. A big big disappointment for me in this game. Sorry Sony but I am not a very pleased gamer with this upgrade.

most of your UI issues can be resolved by changing settings , fontsize can be changed by typing
/chatfontsize #
# being a number between 1 and 5 , the higher the number the larger the font.

While fixing your spellbook is time consuming it only needs to be done once, and the convenience of having more spells per page is nice.

the fading windows can be taken care of by setting the alpha channel on the window to 100 percent this needs to be done for each window.
this has the added bonus of requiring less work to proccess and could impove frame rates slightly on slow macines or those with older video cards.

you can set the text colors by typing
/usercolor # # # #
where the 1st number is the chat type you want to change (look in your eqcfg to find out what numbers are what) the other numbers are your red green and blue values the higher the number the brighter that color channel is.

the text window's background color can be set in the new UI by right clicking the text window title bar and clicking window > tint color

you could set it up to be high contrast this way making it easier to read ;)

now back to posts related to the Overthere =P

I am also having new ui issues. Although I DO like the new ui, every zone has video lag now. I have tweaked and retweaked without any luck so I'm switching back to the old ui temporarily. I would hate to upgrade my video card just for this game, but I am tempted.

To reduce lag you have to adjust the clip plane. I have to turn my clip plane off if I want to visit the bazaar and even then the lag is still way too much.

My mate, a lovely female SK, set her clip plane lower on her new UI system and she was able to use the new UI and have a lot less lag.

Leaving Kunark
# Jul 10 2002 at 3:34 PM Rating: Decent
Well, you could ask for a portal...

I you want to leave on your own, however, you CAN take the boat in OT. Just don't expect to wait for it on the dock. What I've always done is to jump in the water outside the outpost wall, swim out and around it to the shore between the wall and the dock (close to the wall). Set your clip plane as far as your computer is capable. If you can see the boat zone in you'll likely have time to swim to it. If you first see the ship as it is sailing in: if you're good you can meet the ship as it sails in before it passes you, otherwise you'll have to chase it to the dock. Stay as far from the dock as possible, boarding the boat on its far side. Use one of the barrels to climb up on.

There is a SMALL, rare chance that a Dragoon will be patrolling the dock close enough to aggro on you, even from the far side of the boat.

When returning to Kunark on the boat, jump off as soon as it zones and swim to the shore outside the outpost wall.
RE: Leaving Kunark
# Apr 26 2003 at 5:58 AM Rating: Decent
If you are a monk just FD once you are on the boat. If not you might want to grab an invis because one of the goons likes to swim around directly underneath where the boat stops and hes very tough to spot.

Goons = evil. The day when I first came to OT was a bad day, since I discovered goons aren't really the nicest people in Norrath.
You say, 'Hail, Dragoon V`Lask'
Dragoon V`Lask slashes YOU for 153 damage!
Dragoon V`Lask slashes YOU for 64 damage!
You begin to cast Greater Healing.
Dragoon V`Lask slashes YOU for 120 damage!
Your spell is interrupted.
The Spirit of Wolf fades.
Dragoon V`Lask slashes YOU for 168 damage!
Your skin returns to normal.
Dragoon V`Lask slashes YOU for 112 damage!
You have been slain by Dragoon V`Lask!

RE: Ogre BST

no, any non-elf, non-"good" diety worshipper is welcome at outpost so a agnostic human wizard wouldn't be kos but a human wizard worshipping karana would

Note that iksar are neither elves, nor do they worship "good" deities, but they all start KOS at the outpost.

This isn't quite true. I have an agnostic Vah Shir beastlord, and she was KOS to everything at the outpost. Luckily I was amiable to just about every animal in the zone, so I wasn't getting aggrod much by anything except Sarnaks.

Yea, the NPCs at the docks are darkies, ogres and trolls, I'm an agnostic chanter and I was good enough to deal with em. Just be prepared to pay over 20pp for Breeze.

Yeup, the Dock area is an evil outpost.

If you are a good race and wanting to go to the OT, just jump off the boat(as soon as it zones into the OT) and swim to shore on the furthest side away from the Dock area. Then invis up, if ya can.

DL is a waste unless you cant solo. For druids, rangers, necros, mages, shadowknights, and shammys just start to solo here and it will take ya to 45 easy great EXP!!!!

Mages? Shadowknights? Solo?

Much better off in a Dreadlands group.
RE: Dont go to DL!!!!
# Apr 29 2002 at 12:49 PM Rating: Default
Shadowknights are awesome at soloing, especially in the lower levels. To 45 might be tough to to 30 (possibly) 35 would be easy.

Mages also can solo, but I find that my mage does better at least with a partner.
New Mob in OT
# Apr 04 2002 at 11:02 AM Rating: Decent
Aint sure if he is a new mob or he isnt, but lthe past week we were raiding the outpost =) and killing those guys that killed us so many times when we were low lvl :D

We were doing ok against the goons, the General and even the cliff golem (only hits for 170 more or less). But, just after killing the golem (without any dead :D ) our puller pulled a named mob. Dont know his first name, but i do remember his last name Skullchomper. He was a real skull chomper. We got raped in less than 3 mins of battle. I can only tell that he hits for 370 more or less and he does it four times. Summon and, aint sure but i think he lifetaps also. CAnt say anything else becoz i die really fasy ( we were lvl from 51/55 two groups. Hoepfully someone knos something about it, i am willing to avenge our deads :D.

What you ran into is the Beastlord trainer. He's an ogre, saw him hit a sabretooth tiger for 300+, fast. That's about all I know about him, don't know why they'd put such an uber mob there. He'd wipe out the General in no time flat.

Also, this guy is not on Venril Sathir faction like the rest of the outpost. I'm not sure what faction he's on (Ogre Beastlord guild faction would be my guess) but he glowers dubiously at my agnostic Erudite mage, but the rest of the outpost is apprehensive to her.

Sounds like the druid trainer in NK. The one with the pet. He attacks griffins (and griffenes [sp] and griffawns.) He quads for about 356 hp. Have fun, and watch out for high level trainers, they're nasty!

If you are coming from frontier mountains, you just walk til the end of the valley thing and you are there...but if you are coming from i think it is timorous deep off the boat, it is on the very back wall...what i did was just follow the zone wall all the way back dodging anything i saw...then it was easy to find a group and xp was very good...hope this helps
Faction with outpost
# Mar 17 2002 at 10:25 PM Rating: Default
I was hunting with group by ruins and got jumped by a dragoon. I need to go to bank and sell stuff but im already KOS in the outpost. Is there anyway I can get my faction up with the outpost just enough so i can go in and turn in war braids?
RE: Faction with outpost
# Apr 05 2002 at 11:28 AM Rating: Default
kill pilgrims in fv. however this will lower your faction there so if your a god race (only reason why you would be kos unless you killed ogres in tim deep) then this would not be reccommended. on the other hand if you are good i dont know if they will take you in anyhow. my bard used the de illusion mask and i was apprehensive(kos in half elf form) and i turned in braids till amiable while wearing mask. however when i removed the effect my faction had not changed even 1 step. they still canned "ready to attack". so i dont know if it is possible to be a lightie and still be accepted there. hope this helps

Yes, you can be accepted here as a "lightie". Quellious-worshipping Human Monks start off KOS here but can get to Indifferent by turning in war braids.

Of course, turning them in isn't easy if you're KOS, but pulling Captain Rottgrime outside the outpost (allowing one to sneak behind him if that skill is available) isn't terribly difficult for a skilled FD puller.

I suspect that Elves (including Half-Elves) may be able to get to non-KOS status, but if so they probably have to turn in more war braids.

im a lvl 38 ranger and have been kiting animals with fear since lvl 22, i intend to solo the tigers here until about 42. my question is, where can i find animals to kite higher than these tigers? I want to solo to 50 if its possible, but i need to know where to go to do that. I would appreciate any suggestions, thank you.
RE: animal kiting
# Mar 12 2002 at 2:24 PM Rating: Default
EW with Wooly Rhinos, but personally I think that is a waste to do until 50. At 48 I went to KC, cause that will give you good practice for later on, things like not generating aggro and the like. You can also fight the fish in LOIO I believe.

Anyways, no idea what hes for. msg me on 7th, im Draogan, or send me an email if ya know.

yeah as my bard i ran into him at the sarnak ruins. i wuz in a grp of lvl 40. full grp that is. he satrted at us and at first we were scarred. but then me and a ranger in the grp decided to kill him. the rest of the grp didn't want to touch him for faction reasons. when he died there was no faction hit. he also dropped some item that was a ac 5 neck slot for dark races worshipping innoruk.

I was in a group for xp at ledge today, and suddenly he appeared killing a Sarnak knight at the ruins...as he conned yellow at lvl 38 we decided to try him, although im a darkie and he looked like a goon. He went down pretty quick, and dropped an Imbued Night Ember Sphere...i think this item is used in a quest in neriak, take a look at the replies for this item.

I was invis when I zoned and went up the hill to turn it off since he conned blue to a 35 chanter. Since I was invis he conned indiff but once I got back he was gone. With spells memmed and him still targeted I was going to try to cast on him, but he was out of range and I could not find him. No one in zone said anything when I did a shout. Hey all...my alt a soon to be lvl 16 gnome necro follower of Bertox is looking to head to Lake of Ill Omen. Well, being evil, I assume I am KOS in FV. But, being a gnome which isn't particularly evil, would I be KOS in these evil outposts? And if so, could I run through invis without being touched? Any help appreciated!
RE: Gnome Necro...

You are fine there, my friend is an evil gnome cleric (that's rare) and he is fine in the Outpost.
RE: Gnome Necro...
# May 10 2002 at 12:48 PM Rating: Default
You are probably safe. I know my friend has a level 53 Erudite necro and he is not KOS.

However, if you are concerned about it, you can jump off of the boat(as soon as it zones into OT) and swim to the shore on the opposite side of the dock. Just watch out for a wanderer.

High Priest
# Feb 05 2002 at 8:17 AM Rating: Default
I don't remember his exact name, but he drops the imbued sphere thingy. Not listed above, but apparently one of the Dragoons we all know and love. I think he's level 40 - a guildie warrior, level 38, with a full group, led an attack on him. One tank, mind you, taking and dealing the full damage all by himself. I (enchanter) could only haste zing and the group's healers could only heal, because our spells wouldn't touch him otherwise.

Revenge is sweet, I've always said.

dangerous?
# Jan 15 2002 at 9:31 PM Rating: Default
Would a a DE Wizy lvl16 be able to make it through this zone with invis, and is the field of bone next to this zone???
RE: dangerous?
# Jan 18 2002 at 8:31 PM Rating: Default
To answer your questions, yes and no, respectfully. First of all, you can make it through with invis, although you dont really need it. All the monsters along the ocean side of OT are non aggro with the exception of the sarnacks. The chickens, tigers, and rhinos say "ready to attack", but they wont unless you attack them first. even if you are sitting/medding, they still wont attack. The cacti are indifferent so you dont need to worry about them either. But this is only true on the ocean side of the outpost. The otherside is a totally different story. And secondly, no. Warsliks Woods is adjacent. But FoB is at the other side of that zone. It is a very dangerous zone as well, as there are giants roaming around that can see through invis and with the trees blocking your view, the many, many drop offs, and it can be downright scary sometimes. I would recommend staying in OT and soloing until 24 (after that the xp becomes minimal) and then come back at 30 and group on the other side of the outpost until 39-40. Then you decide where to go after that. Good Luck to you!
RE: dangerous?
# Jan 30 2002 at 7:43 PM Rating: Decent
The Forest Giants in Warslicks Wood actually DON'T see invisability, only mountain giants do. Warslicks is a dangerous zone, your best bet would be to head north and travel along the waterline and swim around the gobby fort...watch an iksar npc that sits on a rock in the water, if you aren't friendly in Cabalis he'll tear ya up.
