it's listed under the spell:

"1: Summon Pet: PCPetMagS12L059Epic"
Epic Pet
# Feb 28 2010 at 2:24 PM Rating: Decent
Epic Pet hits for 81-84 max and his DS is 50 damage. my mage is level 51.
you can equip the epic at 46, that is the level of the spell to summon it. click the epic to summon pet at level 50. destroy the epic because it has one charge then summon another one.
Not focusable by Minion of Eternity
# Jan 05 2010 at 10:07 PM Rating: Decent
For some reason the focus effect of "Minion of Eternity" doesn't work on the epic pet. The epic pet spell, "Manifest Elements", is flagged as a lvl 59 Magician spell, and the Minion of Eternity focus works on pets lvl's 59-75. When you summon the epic pet, it cons even to a lvl 49 versus conning even to a lvl 50 when summoned with "Minion of Darkness" focus (which is a weaker focus).

I was looking forward to having the most powerful epic 1.0 pet possible, by using the effect of Minion of Eternity found on "The Sweeper", but apparently I already had the best epic pet.
Getting back to EQ

I am coming back to EQ and I have a 55 mage that has not completed this quest.

How hard will it be to complete? I have pretty much everything except the last steps of the quest. I remember getting the staff of elemental mastery out of kedge keep, I remember going on tons of raids to plane of hate trying to get the staff of elemental mastery earth but was unsucessful.

Is it worth trying to complete without a guild?

i lov dis pet
# Nov 06 2007 at 10:28 AM Rating: Decent
i did get very lucky in this quest, got quill cloak in about 20 min of camping, friend had the crown of ele mastery, phiny staff only took about a week of camping :P i thought it was very worthwhile. with pet gear and V this guy has 6500 hps hits 81, 51DS, 84 stun proc, 100dd proc, pretty much can solo an AA at 51 with this pet in like 15 min. Great tank for pet grps great dps for any other groups. Its a pain to get but if you use it at low lvl its worthwhile
Pet Nerfed
# Mar 29 2007 at 2:56 AM Rating: Decent
Another post, I've noticed this pet was nerfed horribly, it used to be the strength of the level 61 air pet but now it is a weak PoS. It still hits for 81 unfocused but has a much lower attack rating and takes a lot more damage. I was very excited to get the pet at first, I have minion of darkness focus at level 56 which is 20% pet focus and it conned light blue, sad. The pet was getting hurt badly in Greigs End, and sometimes missed a complete round of attacks. Not nearly what it used to be, I played a friends epic mage back in the day and it was a hell of a lot better. So this pet really is just good level 50-61 rather then what it used to be, level 50-66. Still, it's a very good pet but very disapointing for an epic though. It nearly took the same damage as the level 53 air pet i used to use. But the dps was better.
epic look

does anyone know where i can get a pic of the weapon and see a pic of the epic pet? would appreciate it..thanks
RE: epic look
# Jun 21 2006 at 8:24 AM Rating: Decent

The weap in the background i am carrying is the Epic.

The Epic Pet is like an Air pet ... xcept vs POP pets it will be evenly matched and anything pre POP it will kill!
only ONE??
# May 07 2005 at 7:33 PM Rating: Decent
Is this REALLY only ONE CHARGE? So if my mage summons the pet she can NEVER summon it AGAIN??
RE: only ONE??
# Dec 22 2005 at 2:51 AM Rating: Decent
Hehe, yup, but keep in mind the epic reward is a spell to summon this orb, not the orb itself!

Gotta love it, actually. Summon the orb, use its effect to summon a pet, and destroy it. Summon another orb. When the pet's about to die, really easy to just clickie your orb and replace him :) If you have the AA for Suspend Minion and Suspend one before hand, you have one pet and two pets just waiting, manaless!

My Mage got her Epic at 49 and just turned 50 last night... She could not summon the pet till 50... Yes the orb only has 1 charge on it but you can destroy it and summon a fresh one with a full charge on it. The Epic Pet Rocks!!!!!! I tried him out in DS last night and he was just ripping Dragorn commoners a new one. I didn't even have to cast a nuke or a heal. I was grouped with a chanter who 2 boxed a cleric.. 53 and 51 respectively Pet was buffed with temp, haste from chanter and Burneout III from me.. Took out Gutfeaster and he was impressed with Fluffy's performance

I'm a 58 Mage and have much to do on my epic still. Is it even worth it to finish it?Aren't my Lev.60 pets better?
Should I finish it?
# Dec 19 2006 at 1:18 PM Rating: Decent
er, I just realized that the air pet hits for 83 and the epic pet hits for 81, so it's not even better in that way either.
Should I finish it?
# Dec 19 2006 at 1:17 PM Rating: Decent
Not worth it at 58 if you just want to do it for the pet. The epic pet's strength isn't even close to that of the level 61 air pet because the 61 air pet can take tenacity while the epic can't. With tenacity, it has way more hit points than the epic pet does with virtue. The only better thing about the epic pet is that it's proc does 3 more damage and it hits for two more damage. The air pet's proc does 140 damage but it also stuns.
Should I finish it?
# Jan 03 2007 at 12:45 PM Rating: Decent
Your pet, reguardless of its level, can get any buff you can. So if you are level 70 and even if your pet is lvl 1 your pet can get Tenacity... If you dont believe me, i have a 70 SK, summon the lvl 58 pet its like lvl 40, it can take Tenacity.
RE: Should I finish it?
# Mar 18 2006 at 1:50 PM Rating: Decent
well, when i first got Ward of Xegony (61 air pet), i thought i'd test it out. i killed my epic pet and summoned the air pet. used it for all of 5 minutes before i knew which was better. by far, the Epic beats this pet. more hp, hits for more damage more often, and the stun spell it casts is rather nice.

i keep burnout on my pets, as well as kindle (if you're a mage and you don't, shame on you). i've recently aquired Earthen Strength (lvl 55 Aura. very nice 5% str to pet)... the Epic Pet (mine, anyway) quads 84 damage regularly, often times back to back (to back to back to back...).

i've got Servant of Marr, but i've never really liked the water pet line. i've yet to get the 63 fire pet, but it's next in line and will, too, be compared. i'll update. same with the 65 earth pet.

so, for anyone wondering (i'm replying to an old message, i know. but people still have questions. i did...), the Epic pet, from my experience, is about twice as good as the Ward of Xegony. honestly, get the Orb of Mastery and sell any Ward of Xegony spell you might get. about 5pp sounds right for a worthless summon, eh?
RE: Should I finish it?
# Dec 13 2004 at 2:14 AM Rating: Decent
Most mages prefer epic to WoX, RS, etc if the mob is level 61 & under (that's FOCUSED epic, I do believe), so if the mobs you're hunting are 61 & under (as in an avg level 65 LDoN), use your focused epic. If not, use WoX.
what is the cast time?
# Jul 11 2004 at 2:29 AM Rating: Default
According to the Manifest Elements link above, the pet has an instant cast time, is this accurate?
RE: what is the cast time?

In answer to my own question, no, the cast time is 20

Ok I just got this but have the Servant of Marr and the Child of Ro which one is better? I get great BS on the Servant sometimes (32k damage)... What is so great about the epic pet ... except it seems to be a combo of all the pets ? Please someone let me know.

"What is so great about the epic pet"

Hits for 81 damage, bashes for 40-ish, regularly procs a DD that does 143 damage, casts a three-second stun every twelve seconds that does about 100 damage, and casts a 50 point damage shield on itself. Tanking greens, that maxes out around 300dps, but drops off on mobs that still give XP, and drops off quite a bit if it's not tanking and getting the damage shield damage... either way, it's still a nice damage output on mobs below 60.

Pretty much obsolete with the OoW pets, but prior to that he's very good to have in zones where mobs are below level 60 (and uber if you get him while you're still in the 50s: 'Where'd the add go?' 'Oh, Fluffy soloed him while we were killing the other mob' :))

Has anyone MQ'd one of the final 4 elements for this and completed successfully? I've heard some quests can not be MQ'd now even though MQ logic says they can be. Any info would be helpful.

The leader of a guild my magi is in is the highest level by about 5, and a couple levels away from the time when guilds are usually almost done with epics, if not completely done. He's a mage, so his epic would be one of the best, but the rest of us are lowbies and can't help :(

It's too bad, I mean, epics are something the guild's higher level chars (or lower level, depending on the guild) should do together, and by the time I get to his level, we'll have the guild ready to go for epic quests and stuff...

Just remember what guild leader sacrifice in order to make the guild better, stronger, and centralized in their leadership.

I'd just like to say a big thanks to all the guild leaders out there that sacrifice through personal time and in game fun for the sake of their guildies. I tried to own a guild once, but the people were just...

It's hard to understand unless you've been there and fought the long, hard battle that is guild leadership, especially when a guild just starts, and raids, events, and officer placement is decided solely by you. It's difficult, to say the least, and those that do manage to do it without ending up with a new coat, if you know what I mean...

Yes, you can change servers and still have your epic. This only works for mages though.

No, Warriors get their epics with transfers also.
epic pet compared to 50+ pets

I was wondering how the epic pet compares to the lev 50 and above pets. I'm 55 now, and still working on my epic. But I was wondering if the epic is still relevant with pets we get at higher levels. At some point should I just forget about the epic?

The epic is not the pet, the epic is a spell that summons a very nice item with a charge of a summon pet.

But yes this pet kicks ***, some magicians still use it in some cases at level 65.
RE: epic pet compared to 50+ pets
# Mar 13 2003 at 7:06 PM Rating: Excellent
Oh trust me, there's a BIG difference.

One of the mages in my guild got his epic, and a couple of days later he came to a raid in City of Mist to kill Lord Rak to complete MY epic.

The Epic pet tore Rak a new one. I didn't even keep agro long enough to die. This was the ONLY pet we had on Rak.

Now, I'm a Shaman, I'm not familiar with Magician pets firsthand, but I can tell you my guildmate was really amazed at how much more powerful the Epic pet was, and he's lvl 60.

Get the Epic. You won't be sorry.

Allakhazam has this on the "recently updated" list. was this "recently updated"? that is, what was changed from the original. Smiley: confused
# Nov 08 2003 at 8:01 PM Rating: Decent
The update was probaly the addition of the quest to make a permenant rod that can be augmented.

Updated just means alla has made a change, ie correction in the description, it does not mean it has been changed in the game.
buffs and pets
# Oct 15 2002 at 6:52 PM Rating: Decent
i was wondering if normal pc spells will effect pets?
for instance a druid healing and chloro on them?
and is there a difference in this between necro(undead) and mages pets?
RE: buffs and pets
# Jul 03 2003 at 11:12 AM Rating: Excellent
For those who do not know...

Yes, PC's can buff each others' pets to a point. "Pet only" buffs can only buff YOUR pet, not someone elses' regardless of class. But anything you can cast on another player (short of a Lev, pets can't lev for some reason except the Air Pet and Spectre pet) you can cast on your pet.

RE: buffs and pets
# Nov 11 2003 at 11:04 AM Rating: Decent
whether lev actually makes them levitate or no i'm not sure, but you CAN cast it on them. The lev icon will show up on your pet buff screen. I use it on my earth pet along with some other junk spells, then dispell them so i can dispell dots, etc.
RE: buffs and pets
# Oct 26 2002 at 4:51 PM Rating: Decent
Yes, they effect mage pets, and I'm fairly sure they affect Skellies. They most likely affect animations (I buff my pets).
