Iksars do get starter armor called Curscale armor, and it is acquired by doing the Scaled Curskins quest. It doesn't work like some of the other starter armors, in that the piece you recieve is random. While this is a minor pain, the fact that the required pieces are so common more than makes up for it.
RE: noob armor
# Jun 16 2003 at 9:23 PM Rating: Decent
Not everyone gets newbie armor. Ikkies, and Ogres, Trolls, Barbarians, and Erudites do not. A reason I heard they made newbie armor was to "balance" the stats of the "lesser" races. Sounds like bull to me, with a side of laziness. All of them should get it, as the game IS everquest, and questing for even very minor armor is still cool.
Temple of Terror
# Jun 16 2003 at 10:55 AM Rating: Decent
Is there a map somewhere of the Temple of Terror? I started an Iksar Beastlord there, but couldn't figure out how to climb up the ladder or get out of the temple, so I ended up going down into the dungeons.

How do you get in and out of the temple?

Thanks in advance.
RE: Temple of Terror
# Jun 16 2003 at 1:12 PM Rating: Decent
Going up the ladder is not too hard; just stand infront of it, look up (#9 on the keypad or Page Up), and press the forward movement key. When you get to the top, reset the screen for horizontal view (keypad #5), turn around, press the jump key and as you release move forward. Might take a few tries to get the timing right but then it is second nature.

Normally I just jump off the balcony to get out. Less hassle. Had to learn the ladder trick with my SK, but my beastlord jumps.
Beastlord spells

Ok, I've wandered all over Cabilis, and checked nearly every vendor I could find. Where the hell are the Beastlord spells Spirit of Sharik, Sharik's Replenishing, and the appropriate followups to it? The only vendor I've located with any similar spells is the one across from the Patriarch, and all she has are the special attack buffs. Am I going to be stuck making the suicide run through the Dreadlands to get up to Shadow Haven just to pick these necessities up?

Factions!
# Jun 22 2002 at 8:16 PM Rating: Good
Ok, just cause I think people are going into far too much detail about how hard it is to raise factions with Cabilis heres the best way.

1) Kill in Sebilis for exp. Yes you have to be 50+ but its pretty useless having Cabilis faction if you're not 50+ anyway. Not only will you get good exp and good loot, but your faction will max out fast to the Legion of Cabilis (Warriors / Troopers)

2) Go to loc +1800 +200 in Lake of Ill Omen - theres a small building with 6 explorers in it. These give neg FV faction, so if your concerned about that, you'll have to do the 6000+ bone chip side, which most people have posted about here. Otherwise - kill the explorers over and over, they usually drop knives, stackable and no drop. Get about 10 - 15 stacks of these (takes a while) then head towards Cabilis... nearby is a pillar with "Trooper Vaurk" - Hand him the knives in 4's, unstacked. This raises faction with all but Legion (which should be maxed now) and necro guild - he is on Legion faction himself.

3) Go to Warsliks Wood and go around every iksar outcast camp killing them over and over and over. This is the boring part but it raises Brood of Kotiz faction. It takes 1000's of them literally but once you're not kos to these, you're completely safe inside Cabilis.

When you climb to the top of the ladder turn slightly to the right and jump at an angle, the wall should cover around 3/4 of your view. It will prob take a few trys but this is the way you can get back up there. I was having the same problem and a friendly SK (that has to be an oxmoryan, LOL) told me how you can do it. Good luck.

Iksar Faction 101, Quick Guide

Iksar Faction 101, Quick Guide
------------------------------

I started this quest as a 17-ish level shadow knight, dark elf, worshipping Innoruuk. I was KOS to the entire iksar NPC population at the time. You can start doing this quest anytime, but I suggest being at least level 15. If you don't mind doing a lot of CR's, hey, go nuts and try it earlier. I highly suggest you have some mechanism for making yourself invisible before you start on all this. This will cut down on deaths a lot.

(1) Kill sarnaks in OT until level 20. This builds LegionsOfCabilis faction.

(2) Go to Warslisks Woods. Kill renegade iksar (they vary greatly in levels and there's lots of static camps). Occasionally go to the area outside of Cabilis gates where the Troopers are. /Con Troopers every once in awhile until you get to dubious. Save any and all bone chips you get. WARNING: Crusaders are still KOS to you, and they patrol around here from time to time. Be careful.

(3) Go to Field of Bone. Kill skeletons in the field and in Kurn's Tower. Kill any renegade iksar you see that you can kill. Save all your bone chips.

(4) Everytime you get a couple backpacks of bone chips together (yes, that's 8 stacks of 20 so 160 bone chips), get invis or sneak or whatever and go to Trooper Mozo. You must be DUBIOUS to him to do this quest.

(5) Stand to the left of Mozo, with your back against the wall. Move forward in tiny increments until you are close enough to give things to him. Do not budge from this spot or the crusaders WILL get you. Put the bone chips, in stacks of 4, into the four slots and click Give. If you did this right, you will get 4 confirmation messages that you've done the quest in a row. Yes, they all count. You get experience and increased faction with all groups of iksar except BroodOfKotiz.

(6) You will need to do this A LOT. Be prepared for a long haul. Based on my experience, and reading about other's experiences, you're probably going to need to turn in about 6,000 bone chips. That's 37 and a half backpacks of bone chip stacks. Yes, you're dubious and can get by with less, BUT if you want to buy/sell here, be prepared to go the full course.

(7) Once you are not KOS to the Crusaders, you can also do other quests if you get sick of the bone chips. You can go to Captain Gideen in Warslisks Woods, just outside the city gates in a tower, and turn in torches you get from the goblin watchers. You can also find Warlord Zyzz outside the city gates in Field of Bone, in a building to the left of the gates (if you're facing them), and gather scorpion pinchers for him. These pinchers only come from regular scorpions in the very newbie area along the path on the way to the Field of Bone.

(8) In order to be totally safe in Cabilis, you'll want to get faction with the necromancers, the BroodOfKotiz. In order to do this you can only kill renegade iksar to gain faction. Find a camp of them and work them for ages upon ages. It takes alot. I estimate over 1,000 easily, no kidding.

Loopholes:

You can stand and trade with Mozo and not be attacked by crusaders if you place yourself VERY CAREFULLY to his left. If you are invis and start to trade with him, your invis will be broken, even though the invis icon will stay up (bug courtesy of Verant). This WILL NOT prevent you from being attacked my Mozo himself if you don't have enough LegionsOfCabilis faction.

There are some merchants throughout the city which are on specific guild factions, not the Cabilis Residents faction, which you can trade with comparitively early on in this quest.

If you're feeling brave you can be KOS to the banker and still do your banking. Just try to stay behind him, out of view, and not near the other female banker. If they aggro on you, the Troopers in the bank will aggro on you as well, so watch out.

Dangers:

Wandering crusaders are all around the immediate city gate areas. Do not go there without sneak/invis until you are not KOS to them. A necromancer named Grype will be in the Tink 'N' Babble tavern, conviniently on the way to the bank, every night. DO NOT walk by this building at night until you are not KOS to the BroodOfKotiz or he will attack, which will cause all other iksar around him to attack you too, no matter what your faction.

Hey I have been doing the explorers, and have killed over 20. I still am KOS. It takes alot of explorers to become non-KOS for DE Sk and necros. My team has been after the bandits/marauders also, as well as any Sarnak/Goblin foolish enough to cross our path. I think religion takes a great place on the path to faction, as well as class.

You can no longer get faction hits for stacked items. If you hand him 4 stacks of 4 bone chips, you will only get 1 faction hit. It has been this way for about 3 years now, and they have no plans of changing it back. Bone chips are a complete waste of time.

Aight listen, ignore everything he said its a waste of time like you wouldn't beleive..

bone chips? please..

go to lake of ill omen, camp "Explorers" now the only reason you would be doing this is if you are a dark elf, or someone who doesnt care about pinkie faction like Fironia Vie or Storm Warriors or Emerald Templars or whatever it is..

Anyways.. these explorers drop "Explorer Survival Knives" Loot a whole bunch of them.. when you run to the cablis zone you will see this guy named Trooper Vaurk (got his name wrong but you can't miss him) chilling at the bottom of one of the pillars. Hand the knives to him and he gives the same faction as trooper modo, but ALOT more of it.. When you kill these explorers you gave Legion of Cabilis faction which takes like 20 explorers to be not KOS .. After about 10 or so stacks of these knives, I went from kos to crusaders to kindly.. legion of cab can't get any better, vendors/merchants/bankers are all apprehensive but the necros are still kos, just kill those outcast iksar like the other guy said in the post but forget the bone chip thing if you don't care about FV faction and you will be walking in cabilis in 2 days.

Ok here is what I did, I went to Warslike woods and killed the bandits there until I got debious with the gaurds. Then I tried the bone chip quest, but I found it way too time consuming. So I tried the Survival knifes, it worked VERY well. In just 2 short days and 3 stacks of these I got nice faction with iksar.

Crusaders-Dubious
Troopers-Warmly
Necros-KOS (willl fix by killing more bandits)
And Merchents-Dubious

I think this is a lot better then bone chip one =\
TO counter the faction lost by killing the Explorers, just kill orcs a lot and for Faroni Vei kill goblins In Warslike. =) Hope that helps.

HI There,as every one has said A very good guide. A few things Ive noticed while playin close to the guards here.1Both Crusaders take the Same path ,one left, one right, from near Cablis zone point to stand in the buildings lookin out to the field..Crusader Bodli leaves his post after ( 4:55 ) after return from last patrol. That patrol takes 10 mins in which it takes him to the edge of the sealed area around outside of the building to the left up to the 1st floor to the edge over lookin the Field and path leadin up to Cablis zone. 2.Crusader Quarq does the same thing But!!his area is a bit larger than bodlis and it takes him 11:15 min to do the whole Patrol, stoping lookin out of the bottom floor entrance from the Field. Also.. notice lately that the returning PETS path widely near the Cablis entrance AGRO CITY to bonechips KOS here. 8).Timing is Every thing here I think ,Been safe and with crusaders out patrol it should be easy to be come non KOS with Greenmist.Hope this helps as well CYA..

Very excellent guide, wish you posted it about a month and a half earlier. I'm a DE SK and now have all factions except brood of kotiz maxed.
I got lucky and was dubious to brood of kotiz before i ever set foot in Cab. Last 5 npc's to turn non kos for me were the 2 bankers, the 2 guys next 2 bank(at fire pit) and the haggle baron. They seem to be on a different branch of merchant faction.
Also i noticed that the npc's you can buy and sell from early are the ones that sell the quest books. I always used the guy in the monk guild.

But as i stated before very excellent guide for faction.

If you go to the Warrior guild and take a right you will eventually come to a wide room long on the sides (looks kind of like an oval on its side) and then press yourself up against the wall and sit down... What's that?... you see a hallway?... ah and it leads down and around and at the end there is a door. Never seen that before have you? Neither had I. The point is there is no way inside. I am thinking that it connects to a locked door somewhere and leads into a new unfinished zone or... The wall in the warrior guild was supposed to be a door :P I saw this on the test server... I've seen what you are talking about, and tried for two days solid to find a way to that corridor. Now, in West Cab, if you swim under the Neco spell merchants, there is a passage, long and confusing. I did follow this, found the "scribe" down there, did NOT hail him (read that this immediately drops your faction with Brood of Kotiz -- Necros -- if you even hail the guy). Continuing past there, is a series of mazes leading upward. I ran out of time and didnt finish mapping them all out, but I suspect that these may lead to the corridors under the Warriour's guild which end in that one way door.

first of all to raise faction with crusaders it costs you 2k of bonechips you give to trooper mozo in FoB but of course you have to kill sarnaks and etc. and if you really want to do that quest create an iksar
RE: Human SK
# Jun 15 2001 at 2:55 AM Rating: Decent
Yes, Iksar guards default is to attack all non-iksar races, ive never seen a soft-skin in cab.... but u can raise your faction with the troopers (u kill gobs, sarnak and iksar bandits, footpads, etc.).... i have a gnome friend who has worked hard at this and now is looked at indifferently by troopers, which means they dont kos.... he couldn't find a way to raise faction with other groups in cab, like the crusaders, but there is a way.. there r quests u can do to raise faction with them... the three factions that i know of in cab are: Crusaders of Greenmist-crusaders, Legion of Cabilis-troopers, and Cabilis Residents-a few ppl in cab including one merchant (although i think he might be outside of the actual city).... there might be more factions then these but i dont know what they're called, maybe someone else will.... i cant figure out what faction all of the merchants belong to, so i dont know how to get them to not kos u (i heard that u could do some of the same quest that raise crusader faction to raise the merchant's faction but i dunno). --go to the beastiary section of this sight and search by faction. It will tell you what npc's belong to what factions, and the ways to raise/lower your standing with them-- There r other ways though.... if u turn into a wolf (sk cant but someone can turn u into one i think) you should be able to enter any town from what i hear.... or maybe if u go invis.... i've heard of softies getting into cab by raising faction, etc to do quests, but u have to watch out for an iksar hermit (he's in west cab though), dont think u can raise faction w/him and he is lv 61, so u need to steer clear of him one way or the other...

maybe someone with more exp in these matters will reply... that's all i know, sorry

Location on this door is +1070,-120,-24 and I've not been able to see what's behind it (but I have a rogue in the guild who's tempted to come lockpick the door).

The second door is upstairs in the Haggle Baron (if I remember correctly).

the three factions that i know of in cab are, crusaders of greenmist, legion of cabilis, and cabilis residents (might be more, i dunno).... go to the beastiary section of this website and search by faction, itll tell u all of the factions, the mosters that are included in those factions, and ways to raise/lower your standing with them....

PS- in west cab, watch out for an iksar hermit... he is in a side corridor in one of the hallways i think... as far as i know, u cant raise faction with him... and he is a lv 61 necro!!!
