While this is a reverse lifetap, and you can use it to heal others, it is mainly used by the necro in healing his own pet during pet tanking encounters. It will put a kink in your own hps at a fast rate, so make sure you also cast vexing mordina, or something else, and prepare to lifetap the mob to make up the life difference as it heals your pet.
This is where the argument arises as to what is more important to a Necro.. hitpoints or mana? If you are liching, and reverse lifetapping, you will be playing with a deficit of 20% or less than full life minimum at most of the time. You need allot of hitpoints in order to be playing with your hitpoints and still stay alive when you get hit on top of all the other life draining stuff you are doing. The truth is that the life of a necro is all about balancing your life with your mana and the life of your pet. The more hitpoints you have the easier it is to play with a larger chunk of mana / life deficit. The true skill of a necro is to find that balance and to maintain it.
