BlackBurrow is the home of the Sabertooth Clan gnolls, a group not particularly fond of outside visitors. It connects to both the Everfrost Peaks and Qeynos Hills.

Be advised that the dense gnoll population combined with their habit of running deeper into the stronghold for help can make for some pretty impressive trains.

Note: For the higher level revamp version of this zone during the "Hardcore Heritage" event, that is running several weeks in june, click here !

was sitting in BB (32 ranger) today trying to get a baby joseph when I checked my track and saw the name "Qamdra Dawnblade" on the top of the list in white letters. now I know players show up in white and never show the last name but since everything else was green I checked the zone list anyway and I was the only one in the zone, so I start tracking, got going for about 1 min than lost track. Does anyone know of this NPC and what they are for?

I saw this as well today as I was waiting for the pally 2.0 orc spawn. Didn't have track, but saw the following series of shouts:

Qamra_Dawnblade shouts, "Thieves!"
Qamra_Dawnblade shouts, "Miserable, sneaky, cheating, malodorous THIEVES!"
Qamra_Dawnblade shouts, "I shall do things that even their great grandchildren won't be able to talk about!"

It's the underscore in the name that makes me curious.

I may be wrong, but I believe if you kill that guy youwill have faction problems as if you were the most dastardly of dastardly to the Qeynos/Surefall folks. Like I said I may be wrong.

Ahhh. I too miss the old days. Qeynos was my home for a long long time until the corrupt guards drove me from the city gates. That was around level 9 or so. I am level 48 now and still return to blackburrow often to ensure the tide of their evil does not spill over.

When I first reached level 14 and was able to levitate; Blackburrow was the first place I explored. There's an area of the zone that you can access that most people are not aware of. I don't claim to have discovered this by any streach of the imagination.

Above the waterfall that you see when you first enter the zone from Qeynos Hills is a small ramp. You'll notice that a gnoll always spawns alone at the very top of the ramp. While wearing levitation; go up the ramp. Face straight ahead so that off to your right would be the direction of the Qeynos Hills zone. In the direction ahead of you would be pointing toward the Everfrost zone area. Turn to your LEFT and run straight through the tree that is blocking your views. You will reach the far side of the zone and be able to climb all the way up. This gives you total access to the entire outside rim of the zone. The best way to get down if your levitation wears off while you're up there...is to simply jump off and down into the water way below. Give it a try sometime!

Never fear Blackrose, for adventurers are still "training" the zone of blackburrow daily. Though not as often as this area isn't very populated anymore. I can solo the gnolls on the upper levels pretty well. I'm a lvl 8 paladin btw. I will probably head down deeper into the zone to see how well I can solo without training or being trained. I believe most people have left to go hunt the orcs in crushbone. Ah well be that as it may, this is still a fun zone :)

Totally agree lol. After I dinged 65 I used my beer pole (brells fishing companion) and killed every mob that moved (or that I could see in my drunken state) for old time sakes. I always wondered of the banker in Qeynos could be killed and if he was killable could he drop all billions of plat I bet he holds. Well I killed the barb guard for ***** and giggles but havent killed the banker. Yeah i know he wont drop all the plat I wish he would but would be cool.

While going through the dungeon with my 32 Iksar SK, i came across the courier and attacked him without conning. Needless to say i was surprised when he hit me twice for 65.

Despite the initial surprise, i ended up wiping the floor with him, and getting some nodrop battle plans. Still, he gave half a bar of experience, so the experience wasn't quite wasted.

he spaws at the top of black burrow at the zone point then runs through the level to the pagged pine zone and dissapeares into the wall. He is a lvl30 and the whole club of gnoll bashing quest he has 4 drops. he can take down a 34 ive seen it he can hit as high as 65 and very fast. he wont aggro you unless u have killed him he has a different faction. spawn time is 30mins on the hour and half hour give or take a min or 2. and i have the quest item 7/28 bane 5 towards gnolls and some hp,mana, str, and agi buffs. his drops are no drops but the weap is a drop great for a newbie.

My 22 BL was running around faction farming in BlackBurrow tonight, when I ran across a critter called a Gnoll Courier. Been here for a few days now, and have never seen it before. I really should have checked my con on it :( before sending my gecko-dile after him.

Turns out it conned red to me, and promptly ate my pet and came after me. Really tough bugger too...I tried chain healing Fred and tanking myself and it just about wiped the floor with me.

Needless to say...I am glad I zoned into Q Hills :)

I was playing in here with my grasping roots spell and then casting stinging swarm (DOT). What I found was that for the stinging swarm spell to not fizzle my conjuration had to be at least 155. At conjuration of 155 my stinging swarm spell only fizzled about 20 percent of the time. It's nice to root (with 10 points of damage) and then DOT and sit and watch their health go down until they die. This works well on the gnoll pups and the scrawny gnolls. With the gnolls it takes them down to about 10 percent health before the root spell wears off and when they attack me I kick them once and then they die. I can med up most of the mana I cast while I sit so I can do this a lot in here.

The Courier Gnoll dropped this after putting up a good fight with my 38th warrior. Didnt attack me, but I sure attacked him. Was a bit surprised at his ability to put up a fight and more surprised when he dropped the key. It looks like a ring and is called a Encription Key. No idea what it is for, but looks good. I would suggest level 34 and up before taking on this one. Up to you...

Somebody really needs to put the gnoll courier up here on the bestiary. Everybody can talk about the brewer, and Elgnub, but the courier is the baddest mob in this dungeon. Most likelt 30 or so, around there. My 48 warrior with about 940 ac was taking occasional shots for 50+ even a few for 70. And he has pretty decent hp. Each time he's killed he'll drop one of three or four pieces to a quest outside of surefall, the chick sitting by the millers. On the plus side, he is indifferent to all (at least me, and my faction has been run into the ground) and doesn't assist others. (Although I can't totally confirm that, because gnolls don't assist each other when a 48 warrior is ransacking their dungeon, they just keep quiet and pray to live)

RE: Gnoll Courier

The courier spawns every 25-30 minutes at the QH zone. He is indifferent until attacked of course, which means he will NOT aggro on you. (my faction cannot get any worse with gnolls) I haven't followed him all the way down but I'm guessing he goes to either the gnoll tactician, or the gem to Jaggedpine zone. Either way, when he gets there, he despawns. My 34 druid kites him at the top level of BB with no problems, and he gives a lot of exp (dark blue). My 41 warrior owns him pretty well too and also gets good exp. (dark blue to 41 warrior btw) He drops 1 of 4 different quest items and 2-4 pp. Take the 4 items to Rilca Leafrunner who sits with Baobob and Chanda Miller. The reward is a Gnoll Bashin club (not exact name) which is decent for a newbie. (like normal, the reward/risk factor is incredibly off balance unless the club is meant to gift to a newbie)

Gnoll Courier, level 30 (yellow to a 29, blue to a 31, there were no 30's in the zone to con it, but I think my math is right). Drops like a fly to a 35 Shadowknight (although I am EXTREMELY twinked considering he is my main). A somwhat twinked 34 monk can also own him. This guy fights like a warrior, not sure what "class" he's most like though. I enjoy slaughtering him whenever I see him, ever-hopeful that I will see that elusive Lord Elgnub so that I may recieve the GnollSlayer sword. I know it's a stupid sword, and there are many better than it, but my first kill ever was a gnoll pup, and I wish to have it as a symbol of my hatred for their kind.

Also looking for the "HollyWindstalkerSlayer".

You all know you want one of those too.

Being a level 33 ranger i thought i would be alright but i get jumped by this guy and he stuns me spinning me around getting me compleatly confused... SOW DON"T FAIL ME NOW! i run off compleatly lost for about 10 min. and somehow i got at the top of some bridges. i know i wouldn't be able to find a zone line so i had to risk it. i jumped and this guy is FAST! i had 5 sec left and he was swiming right for me.. i camped with about 2 or 3 sec to spare... boy was my heart racing on this one... i can't wait to get my level up and return! MAWHahahahaha....

Well I've spent a fair bit of time in the spiked pit pulling Guardsmen from surrounding rooms (and killing snakes) and I've run into more of them than I can count.

They do no damage whatsoever.

I imagine if you were to find a way to fall into the pit (not easy, it's bounded on all sides by ramps) then you'd take damage from falling but that's about it.

Hell if my L13 RNG is safe in there, an L30+ tank should be OK.
