This quest will result in the three rings required for the Paw of Opolla Quest.
Melixis is a merchant that sells supplies for shaman-made potions. When you hail her she claims to have three [shiny tings] that she found all over the world. These shiny tings are [a dull ring] (the copper ring) a [kinda shiny ring] (the silver ring) and a [really shiny ring] (the gold ring). For the dull ring she wants a Guk Bracket Mildew. For the kinda shiny ring she wants Faerix Spores. For the really shiny ring she wants some Degenerated Guk Weed. All of these items drop off the fungus mutants in Upper Guk. After years of camping the fungus mutant on and off, I finally got the last piece...degenerated guk weed. Went to Kerra Isle and found her hut, killed the two friends she had with her, and after turning in the items sold the loot I got after killing her friends. She conned indiff to me while the other Kerrans were scowls at. So it is indeed possible with kos faction.

Is it possible to get the rings from the soldier and have them idendified? Just curious, cause I got the silver nad gold from them.

I got really lucky, on my first kill I got the weed for the copper ring, and on the second kill the weed for gold ring :) and a friend of mine had given me the plat ring. So it was a fairly quick quest for me :)

You'll find it in the water trap with the razorgills.
I've been camping the Mutant for 2 days (loggin in about every 20 min to kill him) and I've seen the bracket mildew drop about 6 time, the spores once, and no weed yet. Weed has to be the rare.

I heard somewhere that she herself drops these rings but this might be false information. Does anyone know for sure? And if so what lvl could a druid kill her at?

went to Guk to help a friend, got the rare degenerate weed, on first kill, what are the chances of that?
Must be extremely lucky... been here probably 20+ hours over the past few months, and still no Degenerated Guk Weed... have gotten the Guk Bracket several times... Sigh... guess I will just hang here for a while longer with me pet.
I hunted on Kerra Isle for about 5 levels. The 20% experience bonus there was just too good to pass up. Obviously the Kerrans don't think very highly of me for this reason.
Problem: I would like to complete this quest. Does anyone know if it is possible to complete this quest with KOS faction? I realize that I may just be out of luck on this issue and, if so I have no regrets (gained 5 levels there in a week), but just thought I'd see if anyone knows a way around the faction issue before I give up on the quest.

Actually... Kerra isle is off tox forest right? there is a quest to kill a "eradite emmasarry" and turn in the head to the chief guy. the main guy... and a lot of the wold world you can go wolf form. So, you could probably kill the emmasarrys and turn in the heads. then go back and kill poaches to re-raise faction with Eurdin.

I just discovered that Melixis is on a seperate faction than the other Kerrans. She's still indifferent to me after I raised my faction with the other Kerrans to amiable. You might very well be able to complete the quest if you can get to her safely and avoid agroing the Kerran who stands inside her hut. Invis or camo might get you into the hut safely, but from there you'll need to do something to avoid the Kerran in her hut unless you are high enough in level that he doesn't agro.
If it turns out that she hates you, too, then you are left with the fall back options ...
You might try getting somebody to invis you after you have placed the items into a trade window with the cat woman and then clicking trade.
This will only work if you are of a sufficiently high level that she doesn't simply attack you as soon as you approach.
If you have the class or racial ability to sneak, you could try getting behind her and using sneak to do the trades.
If I were you I'd try this with the Guk Bracket Mildew first, as that is the easy one to get.

I hate to say it, but after 113 spawns I finally got the darn Degenerate weed. I never saw the spores and only 7 drops of the bracket mildew. This is a seriously rare drop on Xev

I just camped the Mutant and killed it once had nothing killed it again it had the fungus weed thing than killed it and again nothing but one last time it drop the dergenerated thingy lol so i got both those in 4 kills i guess im lucky compared to other people :)

Hello- i was wondering if anyone could type a guide up and post it here starting with the ratpie and ale or somthing as i understand it you kill dude in Aqua ducts get container get silver ring from BB then go to befallen get what ring from him heard posts that he drops more than one type of ring any one confirm?.. then kill spore thingy in upper guk to get weed and what? what ones for what rings.. anyhoot ill post this on the paw of oppala page thanks for your help

Also, the FM that I killed for it was slightly stronger than normal. It took me 4 nukes instead of 3 to kill (the last was a weak one) and it had not resisted any of them. I went back and checked the log. So best of luck to everyone.
The "stronger" mutant could be explained by the fact that all of the fungus mutants are druids. They will cast Snare, Grasping Roots, and I think a DD spell. They also buff themselves with skin like stone. Skin like stone of course, being an HP buff, the third in the line I think. Anyways, the mutant probably just buffed itself before you went after it, or it got more heals than normal from the fungus drones. It takes me one root of 104 and two nukes for 302 to kill the mutant, with the second nuke usually being close to overkill, and there are usually three fungus drones who each get a lesser heal off (30 or so hp heal per). I did finish the paw today, though, so that's a plus :-)

After 7 hours camping the mutant fungi I got both the bracket mildew and the degenerated guk weed. I then spent 5 hours camping Moltar I got the gold and plat rings. I then picked up the silver on my way to get the copper with the trade in when to my amazement Miss Melixis is not around. I have been visiting the island for 2 days RL now staying for 24 EQ hours at a visit she has failed to appear anywhere on the island. I was wondering if anyone out there knows when, how long, or if she will ever join us Norathians again. Any information on her spawn time or maybe a Place Holder would be greatly appreciated.

Gold Ring drops from gynok also. I was VERY lucky to have platinum and gold ring drop within 30 minutes from each other.

I camped mutant for the weed for over 45 hours. not all at once, but over several weeks. My experience is that if finally dropped at (kill time) 6:07 EST. That would make the spawn time something like 6:06 EST. It's close to the 11 minute thing, but I had tried that experiment and it never worked for me. My clock could be off too. Finally have all the rings for the quest. It only took me 3 months to complete the quest, that's about 82 logged hours.

you know,after reading all that stuff,it makes one wonder if it isnt just easier to get those 2k to buy it(going price on luclin) cause you can get 2k with some luck in 3-4 hours if you know where to look...

Maybe i'm a bit naive but where is it that you can get 2k in 3-4 hours? This quest is for lv 25+, I'm 34 myself, and I obviously haven't been looking in the right places. Please feel free to send me some clues on where to look to get that kinda plat.

Heya, my lvl 30 monk friend helped me camp the mutant last night. We are both planning on doing the quest, so, we killed the mutant 14 times within the 4 hours we faught, also killing every spore spawn and froggie we could find. Basically we ripped Uguk to pieces. We never did get the spores to drop, but I already have the silver ring.
