The coordinates above are all good except the last one (+955, -620). While the item is there it is behind the zone wall and could not be reached. I swam around the entire harbor looking for another and eventually made my way back around to where I gathered the first few. The item had re-spawned. I would recommend just waiting for it to pop again.
On a side note I am doing this quest because he would not give me the quest for the BP. I am a HEF Bard and was able to use my charisma song to get him to amiable, but he still would not give me that particular quest - only this one. He mentioned something about "while he didn't dislike me I still needed to prove myself to the Deepwater Knights."
Hoping this will do the trick and it is some kind of succession.

I did this at level 2. The first time I got close enough to grab the pearls (got 2 of them) and ignored the shark when it aggroed (it killed me). Went back again and got two more (ignoring aggro again but this time I escaped, pathing bug, I think). Turned them in and got 10 silver, 14 copper and a small bag. I'll do it a few more times and see what else he gives out.
If you were me and I were you, would we still be friends?
Started an Erudite paladin and did this quest last night at level 4. Sometimes the sand sharks aggroed on me, sometimes they didn't. When I turned them in, all I got was a belt pouch. Wasn't worth it, considering I sold a backpack to make room for the pearl bag in the first place, but my swimming skill is maxed now.
This is found easily by getting on the shuttle for boat and jumping off the East end. When you swim down you will see a Sand Shark gaurding the area. Everytime I kill him I get at least 3 shark skins and underneath him you will see a bag (which was always there, not dropped). And it is the Pearl of Odus.

Remember, always check faction first by con'ing the NPC... if you're not better than indifferent, it can prevent quest NPC from speaking with you. I usually kill mobs first that will give me at least some favorable faction (you can find out exactly what and where to kill from Illiads Beastiary link on this site), and get something to con indifferent or better to me, to attempt quest. This is the most often overlooked problem by new players who can't get NPC to respond, I'd have to say second seems to be not saying the correct words and broken quest probably last (well I think so anyway hee hee).

I never had a problem getting quests in Erudite, and I'm an elf. You just have to do small ones first. I did the Kobold molar quest, handed in like 20 of them, and they regard me amiably now, I don't see what your problem is, you have to start small ;)

Simply talk to Weligon and follow the conversation until he says something in braskets like [peacekeeper battlestaff]. These are not his exact words, but it is something like that. I did this quest a few times at level 8, no noticable xp change, I did get a few silver and rawhide gloves each time though. And it definitely is possible to get the pearls without agroing the sharks.

where are the kobolds to kill? This is the most confusing zone ever, and my faction isn't good (shaman Barbarian.)

The reward for this now appears to be patchwork. Done this many times and received only patchwork armor.

I am a lvl 14 Druid, and each pearl is only guarded by one little sand shark which con's green to me at that level. there are 3 sharks and 3 pearls, and the sharks when green will not aggro. Also, it's called Pearl of Odus! not odus pearl.

Have you actually tried to kill those sharks? My level 9 rogue couldnt kill them, and they conned green to him too. They're tough for their level.

Hello level 14 druid level 9 Rogue. Of coursse the 14 will have an easier time killing the sharks than the level 9 rogue. Just watch out for the hammer heads they con blue to me at 21.

As a lvl 1 erudin paladin I built my swimming to 10 and was able to retrieve the pearls USUALLY without having agro'd the sharks. Just edge towards their tails. If you get attacked just let them hit you 2x(10dmg each) and use lay hands, while trying to swim away from them so you can easily recover your corpse. Super easy quest.

I'm not sure...I haven't been able to complete it yet, not because of the sand sharks (who I haven't seen) but the other sharks (hammerheads, etc) are much too tough for me at level 10, and they attack on sight...I can't get out far enough to get to the sandsharks...

Just went and grabbed some of the pearls tonight. The trick is to find a level 4 or higher Enchanter to cast Invisibility on you. (Remember to group before the spell is cast, and then wait a few seconds before disbanding just in case the invis drops early.) When I picked up the pearls my invisibility did not drop.

Gathering the Pearls is Easy, just cast invis on yourself... Most casters can do this, the problem is getting enough faction to begin with... I have NEVER hurt any Erudian NPC, and yet have killed 30 or so Heretics, I am human lvl 13 Mage and yet I can't get the guy to give me the dam bag! He keeps saying I am lucky he hasn't killed me already and to leave now :(, I have tried every quest possible in Erud that would raise faction and yet I am still dubious to them. BTW if you hang out around the right hand wall and go for a swim you can get the pearls without even upsetting the sharks. My suggestion if your not Erudian don't do quests on this continent it is a total waste of time.

i agree i am a half-elf warrior and tried to do the barnacle BP quest but... he wouldnt gimme bag dammit i wanted one of those barnacle BPs to i couldnt find one to buy either i wanted to wear it for my wedding but my bronze BP looked spiffy enough i guess
Now you can go kill Kobalds and give the molars to someone in the paladins guild(forgot who). takes a while to get faction up though, but good money from occasional ringmail, and good XP around 10.
