This series of tasks is available during the Christmas season, starting in 2006. "a Frostfell Goblin" may be found at +2980, -1690 in Everfrost Peaks, although "a Frostfell Goblin" in other zones also gives the quest.

You say, 'Hail, a Frostfell Goblin'

a Frostfell Goblin says 'Yes! Clues very good! We have looked at them; we know who is being naughty! The [Grinnuch]!'

You say, 'The Grinnuch?'

a Frostfell Goblin says 'Grinnuch is a cursed being. His hate is unquenchable and the jolliness of others causes him to suffer endlessly! Making others do mean things eases his pain! You must [stop him]!'

You say, 'I will stop him'

You have been assigned the task 'Frostfell - Saving Santug'.

a Frostfell Goblin says 'This clue you brought! It is the makings of a powerful charm spell! He has cast it to control Santug! There must be something that the Grinnuch has that binds the spell to Santug! [Retrieve] this item and return it to our Master! This! Will break the spell!'

You say, 'I will retrieve it'

a Frostfell Goblin says 'The Grinnuch is a most powerful enchanter! You will not find a way to harm him! Go to Everfrost Peaks, locate the Grinnuch, and find a way to make him release our Master!'

Locate the Grinnuch in Everfrost Peaks.

Your task 'Frostfell - Saving Santug' has been updated.

There appears to be one of Santug's Goblins hiding over here.

Your task 'Frostfell - Saving Santug' has been updated.

"a hiding Frostfell goblin" may be found at +3095, -4045.

You say, 'Hail, a hiding Frostfell goblin'

a hiding Frostfell goblin says 'Shh! Don't let the [Grinnuch] hear you!'

You say, 'The Grinnuch?'

a hiding Frostfell goblin says 'Yes! He has taken control of Santug's mind! Have you come to help Santug? I think I know a [way] to save Santug!'

You say, 'A way?'

a hiding Frostfell goblin says 'Yes! When the Grinnuch attacked Santug the grimps took his bag of gifts! They ripped the bag apart and the [gifts] were scattered everywhere!'

You say, 'What gifts?'

a hiding Frostfell goblin says 'Yes! I think maybe, if you find a gift the Grinnuch would [like], he might get happy! Release Santug he might!'

You say, 'What would he like?'

Your task 'Frostfell - Saving Santug' has been updated.

a hiding Frostfell goblin says 'Yes! Wait! I mean I don't know what type of gift the Grinnuch wants! If you bring me a few of the gifts scattered in the area, I can probably find something he wants! Go! The creatures of Everfrost, Permafrost and Blackburrow have the gifts! Go find the gifts! Give them to me! I try to find one he will like!'

Any mob in Everfrost, Permafrost, and Blackburrow can drop the gifts.

--You have looted a Santug's Gift.--
--You have looted a Santug's Gift.--
--You have looted a Santug's Gift.--
--You have looted a Santug's Gift.--

a hiding Frostfell goblin says 'Hmm, there was nothing in this gift that would please the Grinnuch! Bring me another to look at!'

a hiding Frostfell goblin says 'Hmm, this gift contained a bright red sled! Try giving this to the Grinnuch!'

The Grinnuch may be found at +2965, -4160.

You say, 'Hail, The Grinnuch'

You resist the Intimidation of the Scale spell!

The Grinnuch says 'Arggh! Miserable Norrathians! I should make you suffer! Like I did [Santug]!'

Your task 'Frostfell - Saving Santug' has been updated.

Give the sled to The Grinnuch.

The Grinnuch says 'What's this?' The Grinnuch beams as he sees his new gift. 'I used to have one of these; I tossed it into the river a long time ago. How I have missed it.' The Grinnuch appears to change and the hint of a smile begins to appear on his face. 'For the first time in several ages, I don't feel hatred in my heart. Thank you , I will release the spell on Santug. The spell will not wear off right away, but rest assured in a few days Santug will return to normal. Here, take this. It is required for the spell to work, bring it to one of Santug's Goblins and they will know you have succeeded in freeing him.'

Your task 'Frostfell - Saving Santug' has been updated.

The Grinnuch twitches.

Give the Santug stocking to the Frostfell Goblin.

Your task 'Frostfell - Saving Santug' has been updated.

a Frostfell Goblin says 'You did it! Frostfell is saved! Soon Santug will be back! Everyone will be happy! Come back in a few days and you'll get to meet Santug when he is jolly! Hold on to that stocking! It may look small now, but if you help us once Santug returns, the stocking will get much larger!'

The Grinnuch has released his spell he had upon Santug. Santug will return to normal thanks to your efforts. You should be able to find Santug in each major city as the season on Frostfell progresses.

You have been given: Santug's Stocking

Now after you give Grinnuch the Sled they want you to search near Grinnuch for clues.

I turned in the Stocking to the Helper but can't find any clues except Grinnuch says Rosebud

Still works in 2014. For the /loc challenged among us, the Grinnuch and a hiding Frostfell goblin are along the north zone wall, just off the west branch of the frozen river.

As of this writing the quest is bugged. I've tried it at least 7-8 times, followed the instructions to the letter and it won't let me complete the quest. All I get is when I go to give the gobbie the stocking he say "That is not one of...". Very frustrating so I'm going to log off and try again tomorrow.
# Dec 04 2014 at 10:16 PM Rating: Decent
its not bugged...your trying to give it to the goblin in Everfrost....go back to Pok and give it to one of the goblins there....will work,i just finished it,hope this helps :)

Can you still do this one?
# Jan 01 2007 at 11:18 PM Rating: Decent
Ok can you still do this one? I have run all over EF looking for either the frostfell goblin or Grinnuch amd niether seem to be there. There are however 2 in pok but niether respond to any of the phrases. I can complete the other tasks and have done but was wondering if that means I will only get a 80% WR 8 slot bag? Or if I do both the baking and fishing one will I get the 100%? Currently we have a 60% 6 slot but have the baking and/or fishing one to do.

Any suggestions?

Christmas 2006 is not actually a part of the task name -- but the related tasks are as follows:

1) Frostfell - Searching for Clues
2) Frostfell - Saving Santug
3) Upgrading Stockings (get 20% Stocking)

1 leads to 2 which leads to 3.

#3 is not an actual task -- it's more of a quest.

Anyway -- #1 to #3 must be done relatively soon after the task givers appear, as within a week, or you will miss out on them after Santug is saved.

The next ones can be done in any order (or at the same time). just be sure to turn in your Stocking after each one for the upgrades stocking (40&, 60%, 80% and then 100%.

Before you do any of the below, go ahead and trade up your stocking again (40%). Then the remaining tasks are:

Frostfell: A Gift for Tinam
Frostfell: Fireworks
Frostfell: Santug's List

The Frostfell: Fishing for a Feast did NOT allow me a stocking upgrade, so I assume the Chef tasks are not part of the tasks allowed for stocking upgrades.

upgrading the stocking

I just upgraded my Stocking to a 6 slot / weight reduction of 60 percent. I only completed 3 of the quests so far so I guess it gets better with each completed quest.

Searching for Clues and Saving Santa are no longer available, but if you do one of Santug's current Quests (list or dolly) then hail the Helper and say 'stocking' you can get the stocking if you do not yet have one. Saying 'stocking' to the helper after each quest you do should upgrade the bag.
The Task.

From Santaug:

Ask him <spirit> and you will eventually get the <Frostfell -- a Gift for Thinam> quest. Santaug wants you to get a special Clockwork doll.

You need to go to Butcherblock and find Ebinizer first.

REwared: Frostfell Tree, which is a one-time cloak to look like a tree.

4 NEW QUESTS for Frostfell Season
# Dec 16 2006 at 4:24 AM Rating: Decent
I hit control/find in Crescent Reach and there Santug Claugg was on the list...followed the path and found him at the bottom of the ogre in a red suit. Also found Hargar the Velium Chef, the Frostfell Elf and Fireworks Engineer Fabdabus.

Santug's Quest: Santug's List
Santug asked me to help him get the list that had been torn into pieces by the Grimps back to him.

Quest: Find the 10 portions of the list and bring them back to him. They may be found in Butcherblock, South Ro, Commonlands, Everfrost, Queynos Hills and Rathe Mountains.

He warns that you may need a tracker and the ability to see invisible.

Reward: a Temporary Santug Suit that makes you look like an Ogre and gives you improved night vision.

Also speak to the Frostfell Elf next to Santug. He will offer to upgrade your stocking if you have one (but he told me I have to do more) and said Hargar, as well as Santug, will give me something to do.

The Elf also tells us that the final week of the Frostfell season there will be a great feast and fireworks for all.

Hargar asked for help preparing the food. He had tasks for Bakers and Fishers.

Frostfell -- Baking for a Feast
The baker has to prepare 4 each of Chocolate Muffins, Meat-filled pies, Loaves of Bread and Pound Cakes and 8 Animal-Shaped cookies.

Reward: No Trade Frostfell Goblin Snack. One Charge Illusion: Goblin, plus cold resist.

Frostfell -- Fishing for a Feast
Bring Hargar 4 each of Highhold Carps, Golden Eye Fishes, Nest Trouts, Dagnor Bone Fishes and Cazic Anglers.

Reward: Fishing Pail that can be recast every 15 minutes and gives you a handful of bait PLUS your cooked fish.

Frostfell -- Fireworks
Fabdabus asks you to find the fireworks stolen by the Gimps and hidden in dungeons. You need to find 4 of each of the following in the dungeons indicated:

Nagafen - 4 Ak'Anon Skylighters
Old Sebellis - Steamfont Geysers
Chardok - Bick Sploder
The other steps are not given at first.

Reward: No trade, 1 shot Toy Skates with Selo's accelerator.

I assume that doing these will allow you to improve your boots as well.

4 NEW QUESTS for Frostfell Season

After doing the grimp quest for the tattered pieces, I turned in my Stocking and it upgraded to a 4 slot, 40% redux container.

Also, if you keep following the text for the fishing quest after you received the actual quest, the dwarf will give you a letter with hints on where and how to catch the fish specified in the list.

High Hold Carp: Caught in the pool in front of the Tiger's Roar Inn.

Golden Eye Salmon: Caught in the center of Lake Rathe zone in the lagoon below the huge monument (diving board).

Nest Trout: Caught in Everfrost in the river off the Nest. The fish are attracted to heat, and a heat source increases the chance of catching one... Maryg The Fisher is on the top of the frozen river at +1337, -4606. He sells an item called a Nest Lantern. This is the item originally meant to use, but it's bugged... trust me. Go find a regular lantern to use instead and fish off the underwater cave entrance ramp to the north.

Dagnor's Bonefish: Caught in Dagnor's Cauldron off the center island during rainy weather. It never rained for me and I still caught some.

Cazic Angler: Caught in the river surrounding CT zone in. Use a light source to help speed things up. I was able to catch one without a light source, but when I put my Assassin's Seal in my range slot, I caught the next three in about 3 mins.

Second Part of Quest
# Dec 15 2006 at 5:13 AM Rating: Decent
I did this on Bertox with a 51 pally, to track and find the mobs first. Then a 10 mage. A 15 chanter, and finally with a lvl 3 erudite pally. The Grinnuch is located directly east of the river just before it enters the caves. He is in front of an old ruin. The hidden goblin is even closer to the river and farther north. Both about at the northern zone line and middle of zone.

There was absolutely no difficulty in this with the 10th lvl and above. Every mob around the pok book drops the gifts. Usually you will get one or even two red sleds if you turn in four. I got 1 twice, 2 once, and none 1 time. So if you kill 8 decaying skellys, you are pretty sure to get the sled.

The third level got a lot of aggro from the white wolves and occassionally a polar bear cub around the pok book. You can run to snowflake, and let snowflake kill them, or kill them yourself.

After that it gets tough for a 3rd level. I did it without using sow or invis potions. It took me four tries to make it from snoflake to grinnuch. First try a skelly aggroed and killed me. Skellys see invis so invis would have been no good. Sow might have allowed me to outrun aggro.

Second try a snow cougar aggroed me. I ran it back to snowflake and while they were fighting made my way to Grinnuch, where I discovered I had forgotten to get the second part of the qeust from a frostfell goblin. Lol. So I had to run back and start over again.

Third try I was aggroed by a snow cougar and an orc, ran them past snowflake and all the way to Halas zone where I zoned with about 5% of my hp left.

Fourth try is was very careful looking around to avoid aggro, made it to grinnuch talked to the hidden goblin, completed quest.

The presents and the sled can be traded. I put them in the bank and the third level had presents and sled before he baganrun to grinnuch. Not sure which sled I turned in to grinnuch, the one from bank or the one from turning in presents. Still, after killing wolves and polar bear cubs by the pok book my pally had more than enough presents he gathered himself to have done the turn in.

I hope Santug puts something nice in the stocking, but is as likely to be milk and cookies as anything.
hmm stuck
