This zone is as it used to be. My level 18 Ogre Warrior is doing just fine in the spider room trying to get the shield and armor to drop.

I was wondering if anyone else feels that the guk mobs have been stealth nerfed in the last month or two. I used to be able to PL a character from 1-30 in upper guk but now I'm finding that even deep inzone the highest level mob i can find is around 20. Has anyone else heard about/noticed this?

Yea, it says "The trolls beat their spears against their ground in anticipation of battle" ... i think Guk is gonna come under seige guys, be cautious
oh, P.S. and then after a search of the zone yesterday i didn't see any trolls at all ><

There is something going on in the new "city of Guk". As you zone in, you receive a message that says something to the effect that trolls beating of drums is heard in the distance. Hmmm...watch out my froggie friends.

I was just wondering with the new Guktan Froglok Races, what can we hunt in Upper Guk?
I guess killing Frogloks in there would give us bad faction hits.

The faction hits from Upper Guk and Lower Guk live side are different from the town of Gukta. Frogloks actually start out dubious to Upper and Lower Guk much like humans do.

Was wondering the chances are of a 33/34 cleric traveling through this place to LGUK safely. As far as I can recall I've never killed any frogs.
You shouldn't have a problem, I was in upper guk with my halfling druid (35) last night and everything was fine with me. The lvl of the mobs get harder the further in you get, so you will be able to con some greens at the enterance to see how you stand.

when u get to the room with the ramps dont go up any walk the the end of the room and down the latter and u are back on the map

Can a lvl 36 Barbarian Warrior hunt here safely? Or make it down to Lower Guk? My only memories of this place were with my first Character..a Troll SK and he died SOOOOOOOOOOO many times here. ..granted he was only lvl 13.

Hell ya im a 39 sk troll semi twinked , have nothing except my sword , that is higher thatn a 45 mob can get, and i was just running around barshing carelessly and all, no problem, no aggro etc. Trying to increase me faction.

I was wondering if it is safe for a level 14 to travel here? I have never kileld a croc or a froglok, so could i just roam aroudn adn watch peopel fighting? or would the higher frogloks still attack me? im not goign here to Kill, im goign here to have some fun. Please respond somone. I would liek a couple different peopel to respond to this. thanks you all.

A level 14 what? I know as a level 20 wood elf rogue I was able to come here with no problem (except getting lost a lot. Even the heart spiders are passive and let you walk past. I should add that I was headed straight to lower guk at the time so I can't verify that EVERYTHING will be nice to you. I am pretty certain that you should be ok though IF you are a good race. (Dark elves are not liked.. found out the hard way by activating my mask.)

Stupid question of the day. If 2 paladins were going to go for ghoulbane unassisted what levels should they be to get the sword and get out?
Well...firstly...the Shin Lord is on a 15 minute timer I believe...just kill everything in the room, and his PH varies. Secondly...he's a rough pally..and he has used LOH to make the battle very tough before. Personally, given the ease of the quest now...I would advise against camping him for the GB, as the quest is sooo much easier. However..if you must fight for it..I would recommend low-mid 30's. Just my opinion. I could send you to your doom...don't take my word for it 8)

The problem isn't the boy holding the weapon, it's his buddies - two mid 30s pallys might pull it, but I'd recomend having a tank along and a cleric.

i spent hours in upper guk,and not once did
i come across a froglok with a poison gland

it has been a while since your post, but yes, the gland does drop in upper guk--I looted one while camping the ACroc, and it was off one of the froggies just before the Ancient Grotto, where the AC spawns--dont remember which frog it was , but the pops there include shin knight, nok shaman, shin warrior, and vis shaman. Was in fairly large mid-30's gp, we were pulling the froggies to the grotto while waiting for the AC to pop

the only way is to get there from innothule swamp follow the east wall and you will see the entrance go through there zone and you are in

welllll- you are in, but in upper not lower guk. Never been to lower guk, but the maps on equmaps.com, and on this site, are good, but study them well first.

Im a lvl 40 Enchanter on Brell. I did this uest at lvl 39 fairly easily by charming the blue shin knight(the rest didn't aggro) then just targeted the priest and told pet to attack, then i just mezzed shamans as tey came near me, i got hurt some sure i think i was broght down to half solo but i got my rod :-) Good luck if you attempt the same thing Rune helps ALOT

Is it possibel for a paladin to solo the guy holding Ghoulbane at any level and leave the place alive?

I believe that the Shin Lord is around 30th lvl but your going to need to be much higher than that if you want to kill him by yourself and get out alive. If you take on all the spawns in the room and the surrounding rooms (considering that if you don't you'll most likely be killed by a pretty big train), then you should be a high enough lvl that ghoulbane probably wouldn't be worthwhile loot. Then again, last i visited upper guk with my 23rd pally, it seemed that i was the only char under the 30th lvl. Damn farmers. Anyway, there was a 41 shaman camping the lord, solo of course.
