Did this quest recently. After doing the Half Elf camp, this was a relief. You can have most of it done in Velious and ready to go for PoP. https://youtu.be/UvOzJoJoN0I
Ok dark elf necro and have killed thousands of mobs in Lguk, Seb and everywhere else to raise this faction and have scalp, old froglok still won't give me the recipe any suggestions?
I assume you've figured this out by now, but a wood elf illusion potion or cast from an Enchanter can give you the needed boost. Guktan illusion should accomplish this as well.
i got my faction to warmly in prolly 3 days time, did that by killing lots of frogs in old seb and lower guk. Was easier in old seb - more number of frogs , can train better . I finish pulling 1 round of frogs and then had to wait for 5 mins for repops and those guys drop nice gems i was able to make plat too. As compared ot the undead frogs in guk - less in number dont drop really great stuff and wait time is more since can kill all the frogs there in a shorter time. have to run around a lot more here to train everything.
Only downs of killing in old seb is it takes a long time to get there and cant check your faction every now and then like you can do in undead guk ( slave live frogs ).
I jumped from scowl - threateningy in old seb, then from there to dubious in lower guk , then from there to aimable in old seb again, then went back to lower guk got my faction to warmly in prolly in 5 rounds of pulling in lower guk. Will hit old seb again for final jump since the loot there is better also not many people come there.
And i tried using both essence of froglok and essence of gukta both did NOT change my faction. And my class and diety did allow me to use the scalp of ghoul lord.
Be careful when you are pulling trains through the Undead portion of Lower Guk. There are several areas with a few (live) froglok slaves.
I am working on my second Crown and have been an ally with the live frogloks for a long time. To test just how bad it is to cross factions I pulled a slave with one of my trains. My log file showed me: - hundreds of lines "could not possibly get better" (Max Ally) - 1 line "got worse" - 10 lines "got better" - hundreds of lines "could not" yadda yadda (Max again)
So, if you pull absolutely every mob in an area (frenzied, executioner, safe hall crossing) you could be working hard at getting nowhere if you accidentally pull slaves as well as undead frogloks. If you pull a dozen mobs and two of them are slaves you are losing ground... +10 points for the undead, -20 for the slaves, your total for this pull = -10 points... quit now or change your ways.
two more after this one.

Well i'm a troll sk and been factioning for awhile now i've killed tons of frogs on undead side and still KoS i'm maxed out can't get anyworse with undead. the live side hasn't maxed yet been at this for sometime and i've killed everything but live frogs. I also have gotten the scalp from the lord. On my DE necro wasn't as difficult task but with troll i guess is harder to max aly?
Okay so the Crown of Deceit is obviously a PITA because of the factioning. My Suggestion is just go straight to Sebilis and pull trains. I have done 5 of these crowns, best of luck!
agnostic vah shir beast. somewhere in 68 levels and a bunch of AAs, managed to sink guk frog faction to dubious. finally got crown to drop in seb, and, managed to gather the furs and find a tailor capable of crafting cloak, figured since i'd been trying to get this thing for a while, i'd settle down and finish it.
thus,i started in lower guk, thinking a few hours of mindless grinding would pop me up to warmly in no time.
think again. got to indiff doing that and was ready to freaking gouge me eyes out witha rusty spoon--despite killing every named i came across and killing the ghoul lord routinely. switched to old seb, and after more mindless grinding--though more profitable--was reaching for rusty spoon after popping back to guk and finding meself still indiff. back to seb, hours of more grinding on entrance mobs and any named i found, managed amiable. spent an entire day slaughtering, finally got to kindly.
figured i'd try guktan AND froglok illusion pots to see which would boost faction.
neither one put me over kindly. so, back to seb for some more mindless slaughter. reading down the posts, i see cabilisianecro mentions that kindly to warmly should be less time to move through.
gawd i hope so--that spoon keeps calling me name. =)
just a few thoughts on the Crown of Deceit quest...
1. You need to be "warmly" factioned to the old froglok (Frogloks of Guk) to get the quest. I'm a Rallos Zek worshipping ogre shadowknight level 70 who started out "ready to Attack" with the good frogs so i went down to Lower Guk and started killing all the undead frogs from the ghoul lord all the way down to the executioner area. Just don't kill the slaves or you'll get the opposite faction hit. You can easily check on your faction by /conning these slaves by the way. I'de estimate it took me about 20 complete clearings of these undeads to get me from "ready to attack" to "amiable". I was using a Poison Wind Sensor which has an area-effect rain damage process, about 120dd times 3 waves.
2. Faction from worst to best is: ready to attack. threateningly. dubious. apprehensively. indifferent. amiable. kindly. warmly. ally.
3. You'll need "scalp of the ghoul lord" which drops of the ghoul lord to push your "amiable" faction up to "kindly". If you're still amiable WITH the scalp on it just means you need to kill a few more undead frogs. While doing my faction work in lower guk i easily got the scalp and saw several of them rot.
4. You'll need "essence of Guktan" (250pp in bazaar) to change yourself into a guk frog to push your faction finally over to "warmly".
5. For the Elf Essence stage, I found "wood elf parts" at the bandit camp in greater faydark and found "dark elf parts" in dulak harbor from the dark elves. You can make celestial essence with scent of marr + celestial solvent combined in a Mixing Bowl. The final combine to make the elf essence required the mortar and pestle and worked fine for me.
6. Reet froglok crown dropped from the 7th reet frog for me in Old Sebilis.
7. "an old froglok" or his ph'r "a froglok ton shaman" is located at pos 1280, pos 210. When i got there the ton shaman was up instead of the old froglok so i logged onto another toon and went down and killed the ton shaman, in 16 minutes the old froglok spawned.
8. The Crown of Deceit clicky makes you look like a Wood Elf, not a Dark Elf (i didnt realize this till halfway done, it's all good anyway) and you get ultravision while under this illusion. You can click the effect from inventory.
...Oh one more thing, you can't Slam while under the woodelf illusion, you can Bash with your shield but when you goto a 2-hander, Slam doesn't work. Slightly annoying.
I'm a lvl 70 bard and 65 rog. Currently the rog has, iksar, DE, Vah-Shir, Eurd, Human, Half-elf, Wood-elf, Pumpkin, High elf, and he is a Halfling. Currently the bard has, iksar, eurd, DE, Vah'shir, Wood-elf, pumpkin, High elf, HALFLING, and is a Half-elf.
I think if every class had the option of doing the other illusions, one may learn to appreciate this quest. Take the halfling mask for example...some people sit there for days on end killing one mob on a 20min cycle into the wee hours of the morning. The thing to rememeber that eventhough the faction may seem endless, your working with a means to an end.
Being an iksar I started out KOS without even touching a froglok, compound that with being a monk; camping Raster for 16 hours straight which put me to max negative faction with the froggies. Here's what I gathered from all the killing: I forgot to turn on /log untill the 3rd night so 1773 logged faction increases, most likely 300 more that weren't logged, a short trip to Seb (to get Crown), and about 5 Deepest Guk LDoN. So a rough estimation is about 2500 to 3000 hits to get from max negative to max positive. Max positive for an iksar is indifferently, amiable with Scalp, so I used an Essence of Gnome that I had in the bank to push me up to Warmly.
I currently have this took over a month. Illusion Guktan The fancy frog one raises faction and ghoul lord scalp rare drop on ghoul lord has faction modifier. Imma troll and can walk freely among the wood elf city. Con amiable to gaurds and indifferent to citizens. It also provides ultravision. Very useful item allowing me to do many quests once off limits without a chanter or bards help.
The In door wolf form Feral Pack adds to your faction for frogs. I just hit amiable and when a druid friend cast Feral Pack on me I went to Kindly. After 2 more hours of AEing in lower guk w/a cleric friend we tried again with Feral Pack and I conned Warmly (still amiable reg con) so I think faction works like this:
You get faction points per kill, your con is based on your faction. Illution spells add X number of faction points. So wile I never got past amialbe, the higher end of amialbe was enough stacked with Feral Pack to get me to warmly.
Ive heard that you can get a chanter to cast some type of faction spell on you .. and get a druid to cast an indoor wolf spell on you at the same time and it would get you to warmly.. can anyone confirm this?

Posted:Apr 26 2004 at 10:20 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) is it true that u can give certain NPC's under a certain faction platinum to raise faction? heard this before... just not sure of it.... i'd like this cuz i don't like being an ogre... just don't have time to do faction killing
I have heard that killing the Frogs in Seb gives you a better faction hit than killing the lower level Frogs in L.Guk. I have asked a few different people about this, and no one is very sure if this is true. One person told me that the ins and outs of faction is a guarded secret of Sony's and no one really knows for sure. Anyone have any idea if a higher lvl Frog in Seb will give me more factin than a lower lvl Frog in Guk? Thanks in advance :)
Sebilis frogs give better Frogloks of Guk faction, about 5 to 10 points per frog, compared to 1 point per frog in Lower Guk. That's based on parsing my log files for two different characters who went through this faction, one primarily in Guk and one primarily in Sebilis.
Having a group to make the kills go faster helps a lot too.
I am currently deep into (I hope, after spending all that time killing...) amiable with Frogloks of Guk, I am agnostic, and yeah I know I could keep killing for hours and hours, but I was wondering if there was a more lazy way to do it. I've been reading, and seen lots of talk about certain illusions bringing your factions up with Frogloks of Guk. I've tried potions of Gukta, which seem to give no effect with the faction. Someone mentioned the level 65 enchanter illusion froglok spell had effect, can anyone back this up, or was that person just assuming that turning yourself into a froglok would cause your factions with them to rise. I am not expecting it to take me from amiable to warmly, of course... but anything that would give a boost in the faction would help. Thanks in advance.
Anyone try the wood friend bauble on the old froglok? Its a no rent item that is quested, giving the same illusion as the crown does. Just a thought that it might help with faction.
I am a lizzy war who just spent 4 days ( a few hours everyday ) in LGuk factoning. I had never hunt in both of the Guk zones previously and I very rarely hunt in Seb in my entire EQ career. This made me KoS to the max towards all the froglok kinds right from the start I assumed.
I maxed my faction towards the Frogloks of Guk yesterday, with the message saying my faction with the Frogloks of Guk can't get any better. Here are a couple of things I noticed..
1. I con Indifferent to the Old Froglok without the Scalp of the Ghoul Lord nor any illusion.
2. Once I wear the Scalp, Old Froglok cons Amiably to me.
Now the interesting part:
I took off the Scalp then take a zip of the Essence of Gukta ( Froglok illusion potion ), Old Froglok now cons Kindly to me.
After that, I put on the Scalp again. Old Froglok cons Warmly.
This means that Froglok illusion does help with faction. Some of the posts said it won't work. And better get a Human illusion. Misleading info.
I will try to get a human illusion and con the Old Frog again and see.
