I have not done this quest completely yet but from what Ive heard Gynok drops more than one ring. If you kill Gynok first, you just might save yourself a bit of time with the fungus mutant :-)

I, a lvl 4 pally, helped a 44 druid with gynok. He went OOM, i killed him and since the druid already had one, I got the copper ring. I sold for 500pp in ec, so if u want a price, here it is.
Huh?! How can a level 44 druid go oom on the mummy ? I casted 2 or 3 Fury of Air on him and he was soo dead. Barely took me 1.5 bubbles of mana. And this at 35. What did the druid do ? :)
Maybe the 44 druid tried to kill the mob with engulfing roots? =P

I have a copper Ring.. but it's not the Lore item ... just a plain old ring...

Go to Mutant Fungus in Guk and drops Bracket Mildew Weed. Turn in and get Copper Ring. Mutant Fungus drops also Degenerate Guk Weed for Gold Ring SUPPOSELY..Camped too long and gave up..it's too rare and/or doesn't drop anymore. Bracket Mildew is dropped easily enough.

this ring also drops off Gynok about 1 out of every 6 spawns
