The Plane of Disease festers like a pustule in the planar spheres, the embodiment of all that is wretched. The land itself in this realm is made of spongy, putrefying flesh riddled with boils and inflamed blisters like hills, infected open wounds like canyons.

Thick black hairs grow like trees from the decaying ground. A river runs slowly and thickly with bodily wastes and fluids through the land, frothing and scabbing along its banks. The air hangs as a stagnant mix of poisonous and pestilent vapors that showers this horrid realm with a rain of bile.

A host of creatures infest this land of perpetual degeneration. Arachnids, rats and larvae scuttle, scurry and squirm across the land's surface or below it in caves. Flymen and Malarians prowl the bubbling swamps. The plane's most prominent denizen is the god of disease himself, Bertoxxulous the Plaguebringer.

Level 46 is required to enter the zone without a key on the live servers.

Was wandering through and found Rattican, Killed him because I could. Next thing I know, the two entrances that lead to Rattican have untargetable spiders called "A gargantuan archnae". Decided to kill everything in the tunnels, and nothing happened.

Anyone have any idea on these? Here is an imgur link of the spider.

I truthfully do not know. Once one of my baby toons can wander in, I'll try to get an estimate for you. They were gray to me at 105...not much help, I know.

Maybe this is a door that needs to be picked? Rogue or bard can pick locks.

Gryme's key does open the door. The door can't be picked (tried with my rogue - maxed LP). To use the key hold it on your pointer and press "U". worked for her.

I was running around the area scouting out safe areas to pull to for an upcoming Guild raid and to map the zone edges. Everything I conned showed indifferent while I was invisible, yet several times things aggroed me, including rats twice (not sure what kind) and arachlings. I think camo lowers the aggro radius for some of them, but get too close and they smell you or somehow know you are there.
#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 06 2005 at 7:03 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) FYI folks... conning anything while you are invisible is always going to get you an indifferent reaction...HINT..Mobs do not react to what they can't see (anything that does react to your presence can see thru your NVis)

That is an absolutely false statement. If they see invis then you will see an attack con message if they dont then you will see indifferent con message.

# Jun 19 2003 at 12:40 PM Rating: Decent
Is PoD necessarily a good place for a level 48 to hunt given a good group setting? It seems to me that the only zone that it is possible to level in at such levels as they are below a number between say, 50 and 50, is PoJ. What would be a sufficient level to enter this zone with a well rounded group of strapping adventurers?

Ive done the bone wall with a group of 4 ranging from 52-54 in level on a regular basis (having a feign puller is a must), I cant imagine tho a group of high 40s having much success here. The few times a 46-49 level person would advertise for a group here, they essentially were told that they are over thier heads (sometimes with colorful language) =/. POJ zone out however would be doable, once you learn how to pull the zo area.

Hey I have a warrior, cleric, enchanter and rogue to fight with in PoP. Can someone please tell me what level they should all be before getting up there? Or some good exp spots? Thanks
RE: Planes of Power
# Apr 07 2003 at 12:38 PM Rating: Decent
Considering the PoP Zones start at lvl 46 I would think lvl 46 would be a good lvl to aim for.

In my experiences in the PoP zones Ive hunted in I noticed that the exp to be worth the risk but that the risks can be high in these zones. Not a walk though Qeynos you know!

if you are a kiter heading straight north of the zone the first land you hit is a good area to kite (or quad kite if you got the bling bling) tetsian flys.they spawn on a peninsula just north east of you if you went straight across the water from the g.y.. heading north west on the zone wall from the g.y. you will run past various zone trash and come upon a gap in the zone wall leading into a spider area that looked a little nasty to me (havent tried fighting in there)if you pass the opening continuing on the zone wall you will pass a river(?) then quikly come upon a long wall that looks like a spinal column. at the center of this is an opening that leads into the castle area. the entrance to the caste is north west of the "bone gate" entrance as its called on my server. within the castle area there are lightcrawler and underbulk varietes <pest, diseased, and defielers> be VERY VERY carefull pulling and eliminateing the defieler variety of either mob as they are nasty casters who death touch for around 780 and cast fear very effectivly (oh yah they dot two). mobs can be pulled to either side of the castle in the far north corner and some groups take the middle area and pull to the "bone gate" i dont recomend this becouse the mobs tend to warp out as they get close and pop on your head(surprise!!. there are two guards in front of the castle and i think 4 in the internal castle steps in various locations. the second floor has a long balconie ringing it on the west south and east sides, on the west side there is a small set of steps with two "guardians of the crypt at there base and two at the top. there is another of the same mob type walking straght into the archway just left of the entrance so becarefull pulling the two on top, and of course there is an imense fat slob that is on a pattern from the crypt door(just in and to the right of top of stairs) and the base of the crypt stairs.apparently he is tough couse none of my groups will touch him with a ten foot pole <*shrug*>. heading right from the grave yard (north east) on the zone wall you will see islands of various fly types and after the bay the islands are in you will come to an open type area with odd buildings that look like intestines (mmm tasty) not sure what that area is about but must be good stuff becouse higher level types slink over there trying not to be seen and kill things on occasion. in the middle of the zone are the malarian skeeters on the water ways, they summan and cast and realy arnt that nice.
as to your level, if you want to play here anything but the front of the zone probly needs a group 55+(minimum)to be effective, but people are scared like worms in pop so i recomend you break the mold and try anyway <grin>
thankee much, hope it helped.

And I can get a full AA in less than 2 hours at this spot too.

I was doing some major exp sessions in PoP and i found that the RCY castle camp and the gobby camp in PoN was amongs the best regular exp i could get without having very uber people in the group.

To get to castle follow the zone wall to the left when you zone in. eventually you will see castle wall. go in the entrance and head right all the way and you will be in the right courtyard. there is also a left courtyard. go right to the end of the courtyard and thats your camp spot. dont camp too close to the castle wall though, or pull mobs and fight them next to the castle wall as the mobs inside will heal.

from the spot you can pull whatever is in front of you. with a carefull puller your pretty much guaranteed single pulls and the exp at 59 was decent, about 1 blue bub every 35-40 mins (with ogre exp penalty).

Its also a safe place to camp, no trains or aggro.
Drops wise nothing much, we did get a parchment in a 2 hour session though.

For a bit more excitement, you can work your way into the castle and up to the top. TO get there, there are 3 or 4 (cant remember) pairs of caster mobs you have to pull. They can be quite mean so keep on your toes and have your resists up. Highest level was i think 57 or so.

ONce you are at the top, go out to the outside and head to the left. GO straight on and camp in the extreme corner. You can then pull the guardian soldiers at the base of a stairway you see in the distance. They are level 59 i think

Be careful of the fat mob though, hes badass.

However, whilst the mobs were good exp, waiting to pull them and the spawn times means the exp wont tick over so regularly.

A friend of mine said whats probably better to do is to kill the entrance mobs to the castle, go inside and up the stairs and camp there. You can then keep the 2 entrance mobs killed, the 2 other casters which spawn further up the stairs and also you can pull from outside the castle entrance.

Getting Flag
# Nov 26 2002 at 8:55 PM Rating: Decent
Hail person outside of PoDisease, say "what ward" and you will get the flag. Go kill Grummus inside the castle deep in, killing in the room where the spider boss spawns is the best tactic I've seen so far. Once Grummus is down a green earth elemental spawns, DO NOT HAIL HIM MORE THAN ONCE, once you hail him once you get flag to go into Crypt of Decay. Go down to the room where Grummus spawns, you'll see a glowing green pillar in the far back left of the room, click it and a huge .. thing .. sweeps open and you fall down into a hole. You've now zoned into CoD. Zone out is done by clicking an odd shaped rock in one of the corners of the zone in room which is also the Graveyard. To complete your flag talk to the NPC in a building near the Plane of Nightmare zone in.
Entry to the Second Disease Tier
# Nov 10 2002 at 4:13 AM Rating: Excellent
For those of you willing to try to advance to the second tier of the Planes.
From PoD to get to CoD

Have a full raid 48-60 kill Grummus in PoDisease.
After Grummus dies. A Planer (spectre) appears for around 12 minutes ( enough time to do some resses) Hail the Planer and you will receive a flag ( you may need to get the first flag from the Paladin outside the PoD zone entry)
You then go to one of the sick Elders in the building near the PoN zone and hail him (sorry cant recall the name) You receive another flag.
This flag allows you into the Crypt of Decay located just above the PoD zone in a cave.
If you hail the Paladin near the PoD zone in again he mentions that Berti (deity i cant spell) is accesable from a movable pipe in the room Grummus spawned in.. (lol may mean you will need to either kill Grummus each time ot sacrifice a few pullers if you want to attack Berti)

Best to my knowlege Berti is yet undefeated.
Also the drops from Grummus on Karana 11/9 were the Sheild and the ring.
Big congratulations to the AA alliance. This was a wonderful accomplishment for us. Grummus makes Cazic and Inny seem like Yard trash.

thats no pally, thats a Bloodsaber; a human follower of Bertoxxulous. he mentions that he and his brother had come from Queynos (headquarters of the Bloodsabers) and his brother some how opened the portal. im going to go to the Queynos Aqueducts and visit the temple of Bertoxxulous to see if there is a new npc talking about them.

VERY IMPORTANT: if you are not a follower of Bertoxxulous, stay away from the temple of Bertoxxulous in the Queynos Aqueducts. there are a couple necro npcs and their pets in the halls in and near the temple that will eat you alive.

# Nov 02 2002 at 9:26 AM Rating: Good
There is an excellent spotr just a ways past the flies on the left hand wall, before the spider / bubonian cave, tatallows you to single pull arachlings and arachnae crawlers. These are baby versions of the arachnia terr's (who are UBER TOUGH) and these babies are easy. I was there a couple hours and got over 2 blues at 55. The level 60 in our group got a whole blue.Good good pullspot.
Nice zone
# Oct 31 2002 at 2:23 PM Rating: Decent
I liked this zone...lvl 60 chanter had an easier time mezzing adds than the lvl 55 bard did, but I think that just goes without saying. I found that the experience was just as good pulling the lower lvl (at least they seemed to be) tsesian flies (spelling?) as when we were pulling the higher lvl, pain the @$$ Malarians. Only reason we were pulling the Malarians was cause someone had a parchment drop off one earlier in the day...needless to say, my group wasn't that lucky =/

I'd like to know if anyone has tried soloing in this zone yet? and if so, where? I'm an sk, so always have to look into good fear kite pathing.
#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 29 2002 at 5:09 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) THis seems like the wrong place to put it, but my friend claims to see a named mob wandering in the PoD near the Crypt of Decay called "Bertoxxulous". Crypt of Decay
# Oct 29 2002 at 5:16 PM Rating: Decent
I notice that the Crypt of Decay was included in the "EverQuest Atlas" Verant is selling. No map, just back story. I didn't bother to read it all, but it's possible that is what you are reading too.

I don't know where Allakhazam gets all their information from, but I don't think they get it directly from Verant so unless a group has made it to the Crypt already, I don't see why Allakhazam should be expected to know about it.

When people finly get there and see what's inside, I'll be eager to hear.

yeah, I have been zoning into Zones just looking around at the plains (Sow Potion ready and excape route planned) Yet while im running around LFG, all I see are lvl 55+ in all of these zones which you can fight in. I find this frustrating for me as 51 Warrior with 5 full AA's. Was wondering if their is a Zone for which a lowley 51 Warrior may fight?

RE: lvl 51 help
# Dec 05 2002 at 8:51 AM Rating: Decent
Well, we took a peek into here with a short group, and what we saw was a lot of fighting ahead. But fun, though.

We took a 51 War to tank, two Rangers (48 and 51), my wife's 47 Cleric, and my fresh-dinged 46 Enchanter. Yeah, I know, die and I'm locked out until I re-ding the hard way. Scared me crapless the whole time, but I got a rep for being a little bit crazy.

We whacked a rat first, yellow to the Warrior. Nearly ate us alive, but well-timed CH's kept our tanks up, and I swapped spells like mad to get out the extra debuffs and slap 'em on. No deaths, almost 1 percent of a level all around (think the Warrior only got about 0.9 percent, but *shrug*). Medded up, rearranged spells so I had debuffs ready to go, cleric had extra defense buffs on, and rangers got root and snare loaded. Trio of flies next, mezzed and ripped them one at a time no problem. Pulled another rat for the last kill of our scout trip, and it went down much easier that it's brother had.

I think we'll be taking that group back there again- 5 percent XP for 5 kills, not bad for a short group in a Plane :) Next time we'll be prepared for a longer stay, though. Gonna wait until I have a safety-net of XP into 46 before I try to Charm anything. It'll be fun to get one of those rats to beat up on stuff for me, though. :)

if you plan on tanking at 51, you'll probably end up dieing quite often if you do get a group in PoD. If you stick closer to the graveyard, those mobs are low to mid 50s and should be doable but I would still suggest 55+ tanks so that their taunt will be more effective. You might want to try PoI since the mobs there are more abundant in the 53-55 range.

I'm a lvl 53 shaman, and have pretty much given up on doing the Planes of Power until I get to lvl 60. I am doing my time in Karnor's Castle mostly, and hoping to get a good Sebilis or Hole team going for exp.

I went to the entrance to PoD (isn't it gross), and asked the people sitting aorund it about my chances. A lvl 58 shaman said she was with a group for 60s, and they had a rough time, so I decided to wait.

UPDATE:
Actually, I went with a lvl 55 warrior friend last night to the Plane of Innovation. We got a good group and killed robots for a couple of hours. The experience is at least twice what I got in Karnor's, and we weren't even chain pulling. So yes, you can do it if you have a good solid group with you.

heh, as a 53 shaman you'll have a pretty good chance to get a group. Slowers are required, and a shaman is safer than an enchanter (lower aggro).
Getting easier
# Nov 26 2002 at 6:13 PM Rating: Good
It does seem to be getting easier to find groups when you're not lvl 60+ in the Planes of Nightmare, Justice, Disease, and Innovation. I suppose that's because those high-level players got their flags and have moved on to second-tier Planes.

I haven't hunted in the Plane of Justice, but I have heard that it is the easiest of the first-tier Planes.

Plane of Nightmare seems resonably easy to get a group in the mid 50's, somewhat harder the Plane of Disease. Plane of Innovation is still pretty tough to get a group in unless you are like lvl 58 or higher.

All these Planes seem to give about twice the experience per hour of the 50+ hunting spots on Norrath. Because of this, it can be worth waiting a while to find a PoP group.
Also, if you are looking for Etherial Parchments for lvl 61 and 62 spells, they drop SLOWLY. I hunted in the Plane of Disease for eleven hours in the castle courtyard with a steady pulling group last night, and TWO parchments dropped in that time.

Zone in from knowledge. Put the water to your right and start running. Not sure on exact cardnial directions but if the water next to knowledge portal is south, zone-in would be North East from there. Looks like a big pipe sorta. just jump into it and fall into the hole at the bottom a la mario brothers.

When you zone in, it feels like you just were shunk and dropped onto an arm. The land looks like skin and is mushy. Green water takes the place of blue water. Hairs grow in the places of trees. Blisters & boils are plentiful. When it rains, green pus falls from the sky. Monsters called Bubonians & Lepertoloths are everywhere. Lightcrawlers crawl over the skin nearby hairs. Flies, mosquitoes, and other bugs infest this plane. Also, newly discovered are little things called Puslings. They have Innorruk's face, only flattened nose, and a skinny troll's body. They're all green.

Hm. Zone in here solo last night, took a look around... Upon entry you see what appears to be a graveyard to your right, along with the zoneout trap door. Ahead, you see that you are standing upon a raised platform on the side of a hill. Theres a greenish lake out there. To desend from the platform, you move off to the left and stumble down the rocks. No mobs that I have encountered here yet saw invis. These mobs included ... A diseased rat/bug/ect. Found a few light blue to 61 mosquito type things. Everything else was blue. Engaged the rat. Rooted fine, mez'd with Dazzle fine, Slowed with ease. Estimate the mob to have ~10khp as nukes for 675 were doin ~8%. He hits for 275ish tops but not to quickly. Bout all i know so far.

You can zone into PoD from PoT and be fine upon zone in. Cool Green lake and a miserable looking sky. ZOne out is a trap door right next to where you zone in. Looks like you would fall into the Green lake below, but you are TP'd out. You have to be standing on the trapdoor to open it.

On track there...tons of Blue to 55 Ranger...some a bit higher =)
