Once you hit lvl 69 the Riftorn Robe in Riftseekers is pretty nice. The stats are nice and it has FT and regen. It's a fairly common drop off the Girplan and it can be earned with just a group. Kudos for being a self accomplished person that worked for your stuff, Toptek. That's not always an easy thing, sometimes. :)
I know the quest page says level 60. So is there a portion of the turn-ins which you must meet certian level. Or is it possible to pass the books off to an alt (46) and they can complete. If anyone knows, it would be greatly appricated. Thank you.
none that i'm aware of. the books are tradeable, and the robe is mq able. so the only thing that might hinder a lvl 1 twinks from getting this robe is getting enough velious faction to be able to get the velious robe.

Posted:Jun 25 2004 at 1:57 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) ok call me twink, call me dumb, but i just read ENTIRE quest guide and i am TERRORIZED by amount of work needed to be done.
please identify the robe you are referring to, because I just scanned all the loot available in the deep, and the only burrower item I found like this cannot be use by enc, nec, wiz, or mag . making it useless as a replacement for this robe
As I said to your other post, all you need are 6 books, all droppable, buyable in the bazaar, and a thurg, kael, or skyshrine quested robe.
No tradeskills, no other items.
However, if you wish to continue, and get the phylactery, then yes, you do need tradeskills, and several other items.
Plus, many people have different ideas about what makes a guild decent. For me, what they can kill in a raid is below several other criteria on my list.
Ive completed this quest and I " 65 wizard" wear it all thee time. It does have a slot 7 augment on it and ive completed the Phyl tradeskill quest. The rarest drop for me was the spiritual anchor which i eventually got in Oasis. Most of the combines are 225+ so if your doing this quest you might want to work on the Aid Grimmel earring quests and vice versa. Another thing to remember is the 2hp/2 mana insta click does NOT stack with a few other clickie mana regen items "almost all of them according to Lucy" which is why it was genious for them to allow you to turn it in for a clicky regen 5hp item. The tradeskilling may seem like its not worth it but i assure you it is. As for the mana crystals I have no idea what they are for but if you do please share. ~Zeez 65 RNG wiz on the Tribunal
After having just completed this quest here is my 2 cents on the difficulty.
The hardest part of the quest is the Firebone Notebook because you need 6+ top-notch people (elemental geared), or 12-18 average 65's to kill the spider (Aramin). The spider is some work to get to, is not always up, and doesn't always drop the book (meaning you have to assemble your raid over and over until you get the book).
The 2nd hardest is probably Velk's book because again its a tough fight, but no where near the level of difficulty of Aramin. And velk isn't always up either.
The rest of the books are cake to get, and can be obtained with a solid group of 3 (or less) in each case. The difficulty is low, but the time is what is annoying because you have to camp for the drop.
Getting a robe or bp in Kael is nothing but a timesink (what in eq isnt) and can be 3boxed easy. But be prepared to waste a lot of time to get it to drop tho.
Since all 6 books are tradable here's my suggestion. If you can't kill Aramin easily (or freqently enough) then watch the bazaar for a book for sale (its very rare to see one) and buy it. 100k is a steal. In the meantime, spend your time camping for the other 5 books if you can and camp for a robe or bp. If you can't do a camp, buy the book. But don't buy the book just to be done with it--unless its dirt cheap or your rich. By the time it takes for you to find a firebone notebook in the bazaar you'll probably have camped the rest of the items for free.
Once you get a notebook in bazaar, if your impatient, buy the rest of the books. 150k for the remaining 5 books is a good deal. The robe/bp can be MQ'ed, but it rare to find someone selling the MQ. While your not raiding Aramin camp Kael or whereever first, worry about the remaining 5 books after you get the quest drop. If farming Aramin for a notebook is cake for you and your posse then this post isnt for you...go solo for everything else and enjoy. Then do your turn-in, save the tradeskill items (its not as hard as the prayer shawl to complete), and gratz on your new threads.
Considering that this robe has FT4 and awesome stats compare the price to the only tradable item in the game that comes close to it--for casters at least. That is the Viscid Slime Gloves from CT. On 7th hammer they go for 400k+ so if you can pay 250k for the quest items for this its a good deal.
Overall this is a very good quest for the reward. My only complaint is the Aramin part. I don't care how much time i have to sink into running around or camping 50 hours to get a rare drop, but when its something I can't camp with a average group of 6 buddies and it becomes a raid-level scenario, then the quest pisses me off. For those of us who choose to not go the uber_guild_99 route in the game there should be equivalent (to PoP) questable items that don't require 20+ people to get it done--they should require time and time alone. I should be able to spend 3 years of questing with 6 or fewer people and still end up with as good of gear as the high-end (who can do it in less than 1 year).
i found the firebone notebook in the baz for a mere 300pp like 4 months ago, was about to give it away yesterday when some one mentioned this quest....
well .. it's been quite sometime since i have done this quest, and i must say.. It's the best darndest quest there is !!! considering the fact you just need 6 books that are easy to get, and a Velious "robe" which i sincerely consider is the hardest part to it.
How does it look like ? Ever seen the n00b robe Oracle robe ? .. same graphics on this robe. Blue , WHite and Gold. You say it doesn't have an augmentation slot ? .. you .. do you really mind ? rofl .. the stats on it are insane, for such an easy quest.
I have done this quest and comfirmed this quest can NOT be MQed. I hand in token of service and friend gave his robe. and He received NOTHING !! So don't attempt MQ.
My question is can you MQ the robe/tunic/bp of a friend with your token of service and get the correct piece or do you have to do both hand ins yourself ?
I understand about the books turn ins but about the ss kael thurg turn in does it have to be a casters robe or just any ss kael thurg chest slot item please let me know. thanks.
I just got this robe last night and I'm extremely happy. To the person inquiring about Aug Slots - there are none. That's the only drawback to the robe...but the robe is still really nice. :)
To clarify it, you do not need to do any tradeskills to get the robe. You just take your old robe and the coin of service you receive from the assistant to the halfling and you get the robe. You also get all of the tradeskill items when you turn in the books so I assume (if you wanted) you could go back and get the phylactery after you already have the robe.
I just obtained this today. The hardest part for me was not obtaining the books, but the velious quest robe. I actually used a SS shaman tunic for the turn-in. Friends went to HoT with me, we got the Unadorned Tunic. Guildvault had plenty of black marbles. So I went to SS, turned in the stuff, and got Wolf Caller's Tunic. Gated to bind spot in OoT at the turnin npc. I gave him the token of service and the SS shaman tunic. I fully expected that I would have to visit the oracle and trade the priest version for the intel version; however, Raotin gave me the robe.
This robe is a significant upgrade over PoG robes, lol.

Posted:Oct 22 2003 at 10:36 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This is actually quite a crappy item, considering the work that will go into it to obtain it. From what Im reading, this quest is more involved than the Aid Grimmel quest, and just as hard. The earring for the Grimmel quest is an understandably desired piece of equipment, as the only other earring that i am aware of that is better comes from PoTime. However, i can think of several robes that compete, or rival this trinket, even coming from the old worlds. The Emperors robe in Ssra comes to mind. And the robe from LDoN, MM adventures i think. And a heck of a lot easier to obtain. And for those of you that think you can get this robe without a raid force...better look at the quest again. At least the Aid Grimmel quest was solo most the way with smatterings of a single group for help here and there.
Quests for items of this calibur had better be psyco difficult or everyone would own one of the best 5 robes in the game. Yes, as far as hp/mana this one ranks in the top 10. Then it the quite nice ft4 effect. Best part is it doesnt take 60+ people to get. Given some effort, a group of friends can get this for a couple casters.
From what Im reading, this quest is more involved than the Aid Grimmel quest,
You read wrong. All you have to do is turn in the 6 books and pick up a quest robe.

[about being better] And the robe from LDoN, MM adventures i think
Immortal's Bloodied Robe To make the robe from MM even come close you'd have to fill all three augment slots. And you'd still only get FT2 out of it..and have spent roughly 50 hours on it (assuming you could run through the adventures in under an hour, not counting travel time).

Be kinda hard to one group yourself into Elementals, no? *shrug* Anyway, all of the books for this quest are droppable, so really the only thing you even have to get yourself is a tunic from one of the three velious factions..and you could even buy the MQ of that.
not to mention all the books are droppable, which means you can buy them in baz, i checked them all on Xegony server, approx 33k for all of them. so 33k+MQ for thur/kael/ss robe, you can practicly buy this thing for under 40k
Sorry buddy you are incorrect you turn in the books to get the ingredients for the other item. You turn in your SS, Kael, Thrug quested chest piece and get either the robe or tunic.
i think your both right, turning in the books gives you the items you need to make the tradeskill phylactery, but once all six books are turned in you can take the item he gives and turn in a velious robe for the grand robe of the oracle.
