oh they dont summon, are not immune to snare slow or mezz =P
These guys live in the spider caves in PoN. ONce you go in, theres an opening chamber with 4 spiders and 2 tunnels, the tunnel straight ahead leads to some of these, a couple spiders and Rallius Ratticans house.
They can range up to level 58, they conned red to my 55 dr00d. SK/Necro type mob, HT, Darkness, fear, etc. hits around 386 pretty fast, not too too many HP though. Low MR make excellent fairly stable pets.
Only drop so far was a diamond, assume parchments drop off em too.

Anyway, I think he looks funny not evil. Really wanna make friends with him Mr. Mouse.
Bert is supposed to be the god of disease among other things, and since EQ seems to be in a more medeival time, the BUBONIC plague would fit perfectly (over half of europe died way back when, after all). "Bring out'cher dead!"
Any chance this is named after the beubonic (sp) plague?
