I got one of these off a Goblin at the entrance to Permafrost.
ratio?

I've been curious. How do they figure the ratio and how does the delay work? Also, how do you find out what the attack delay is on just bare hand to hand fighting?

The ratio is the delay divided by the damage. It is a rough measure of the effectiveness of a weapon. Lower ratios are better.

The delay of a weapon is how long it takes to swing it. For instance, if you have a weapon with 22 delay, after you swing it, it will be 22 tenths of a second (or 2.2 seconds) before you can swing it again.

Look on www.monkly-business.com for a dam/dly table for fists.

Here is a table of Human and Iksar Hand to Hand values. These knuckles are faster then level 60, non epic fists... Pretty interesting. The ratio really is horrible, but as said, for practice value these would be great to keep in the bank to help you max out H2H during long hell levels :)

Hmm thats very interesting, and I was thinking, wouldn't the damage bonus on a lvl 60monk be HUGE? Meaning that in actual fact this (seemingly) crap item becomes better than normal fists??? Just my 2cp.

As far as I know, the "primary fist" still gets the damage bonus. I'll test this with my monk and do a little log parsing.

EDIT: I tested this, and the primary fist does indeed get the damage bonus.

Yeah, faster, but a much crappier ratio.

Who cares?

Beastlords and monks who may be trying to raise their hand to hand skill, that's who. Even though the damage on these knuckles isn't very good, they are much much faster than the regular punching speed of a lower level character. I believe at level 1, the delay for unarmed fist on a monk and beastlord is 30 delay. Fast weapons are excellent for raising a melee skill, so a player may choose to carry these just to raise the skill quickly, to keep it up to snuff, while they use other equipment for real combat.

I quite agree.

There's now a fair few low to pre-epic monks looking for fast H2H weapons -- in a funny way, this is like when many monks started practicing 1HB/2HB when Kunark came out with its' plethora of monk-usable weapons....
