First of all, contrary to what the lower posts say, they will not attack you if you are a sufficient level. 30 was such a level for me. Also, I'm not entirely certain why there is mention of them here, but these guards are very different from those in West Karana. They're much lower in level and never cast. Ignore the posts about those ogres if you're looking for information on these.
Another note, I noticed something slightly amusing when I was camping skeletons for the Ghoulbane hilt tonight. In the room near Najena and the goblins with the circular stone stairs running along the side, occasionally two ogre guards will appear on the ledge. They will stand there for a while, and when the higher level one leaves, the lower one shows the /sigh animation. I've never noticed this before, but I thought it was kind of silly.
If you want to know if they will aggro on you then you need to check the faction. These guys are on Najena faction. So, if you are KOS to Najena then yes.
Alrighty. I am a lvl 32 pally and I had been hunting at that dumb camp for about 2 hours then I camped near it because I did not think that they would attack me the next time I had to logg on. Well, after I logged on the next day, I saw about 10 ogres chasing after me. I had about 2 bars life left when I realized that I shouldnt die near the camp, that would just make it almost impossible to get my corpse back. So, I just walked a little farther away from the camp and just died there (there was no point in running. I did not know which direction the zone was, and I would just die in the middle of nowhere and loose my corpse). Well, after I died, I found myself bound at Freeport (AAAAHHHHHH), so I asked for a port to Surefall Glade. A nice lvl 33 druid who was hunting guards ported me and sowed me for free. When I got there, I was stupid enough not to get a bind, and went right on out to WK to get my corpse back. When I got to the ogre camp (I had gone to EQ Atlas and got a WK map b4 i went there :)), I did not see my corpse. I was looking and looking, and then I got too close and I saw a replay of what happened when I logged on that day. I again found myself at Freeport. I barely kept 32 however, because I had gotten a little exp killin ogres on that day that I was there in the first place. I was looking for a port again, and I found that same druid. He ported me, sowed me, bound me, and I was off again. He came with me this time, because he was sure that he could kill all those ogres. So, I went back to WK and he ported to NK. He zoned in to WK (I was already at WK) and he had me on track and he told me to stop, so I did (right on the path). After a little while, I saw his life go down... down... down... he died. As I was watching his life go down, Ooobaldicknelaj Biddleadnf came and killed me. I hate that complicatedly named necro lady! Well, I was at surefall this time, and, well, I lost lvl 32. Then, that druid that died got a high lvl cleric to come and rez us both. Yay Im saved! It took the cleric a little while to find our corpses though, and we eventually got the rez. After the rez, I found out that before I had died that second time, I was looking on the wrong side of the ogre camp for my corpse (yes, I am a ****** :P) Also, the rez gave me all the exp that I lost when Oobalfjckaljd Betlial killed me, giving me back lvl 32 as well. I went back to Qeynos hills safe and sound, and I dont think I will EVER return to WK EVER AGAIN... unless I have a high lvl cleric :)
(Btw, it accually took me about three hours to get my corpse back)

I am a 26th lvl Dark Elf necromancer, and want to actually hunt orge shamans at the camps. Looking to get that mask they drop :)
But theres one burning question, if i kill the orges at the camps will my faction lessen vs the orge population in ogguk? any input would be great thanx
Ok here is the Reason Why If you Con a Guard that Says it judges you amiably but when you near them they attack. When I was lvl 15 or so I was running through WK with a friend and came up on Ogre Camp. We both Coned the Gaurds but when we went to Run through we were attacked. We were basically dead right in the Middle of there camp (which belive me sucked) Now all gaurds will Con Amiably but the ones you have to con are the Priestess and the Shammy. If either of them Scowl at you ready to attack all of the Gaurds will Agro If either of the 2 comes at you. I know this because Both my friend and I petitioned because we thought it was not right they con ok then beat your ***. The GM told me that you need to con the other 2. Eventually I got my corpse(only after dying 5 times grrrr) But I did go back and Beat them all down for that hehe Hope this Info Helps.

Hmmm, I was just kos by that guard in WestKarana. No surprise You'd say, only thing that strikes me, is that he conned AMIABLY to me :P Anyone know what happened? ... and no, is was neither a shaman nor Chief Whatsoever, it was the guard...
OK, I got attacked by this guy at lvl 27 and lost a lvl, but this is how it happened.
I was walking along the path and saw a bunch of ogre guards way in the distance-I conned the ogre gaurds-I am a halfling, and they were indiferent to me. Ok, I didnt see the cheif. BUt I had sow and I crepped up one more step-I knew I would be safe because they were a VERY VERY long way away. Each one of them was about the saze of a bixie when your a foot away from it. But little did I know, apparentally the cheifs aggro range was about a half a mile, and he is the only one that I was KoS to, but then they all ran in my direction, but i had sow, so I figured I could just run to Qey hills, but his crappy pet is a dog, so, well, I just wish he was an sk or something, but, his dog can outrun SoW, but he wasnt doing much dmg, so I still thought I would be safe with 850hp....
But then came the stuns, the dmg wasnt bad, but when a Hord of 10 ogres and a cheif all came and beat me up, They all hit me for about 25dmg, some missed, but the cheif wasnt so weak, he liked to hit for 80dmg. I could outrun everyone but the dog after stun wore off, but after 10 stuns, and massive dmg, I was walking....then lying on the ground......then....*sigh*...dead on the path.
And I was bound in fp, but who knows how I did it, but after 5 minutes I was looting back all my crafted armor. (Actually, I had to go to the bathroom and when I came back I was in the middle of the west karanas, back to lvl 26 for the 3rd time by a halfling warrior's corpse named "Taiddas's corpse" :p)
Well, there it is, my whole story....but now I am stuck in Qeynos waiting for a tp, because I am afraid to go back in that disgusting plain of green sky.
Just a note to everyone: THESE OGRES HAVE VERY LONG AGGRO RANGE AND EVEN IF THE OGRE GAURDS AROUND THE CHEIF ARE INDIFFERENTLY TO YOU DOESNT MEAN THE CHEIF IS TOO.
Taiddas Kavilion halfling warrior of the 26th (yet again) season Xegony server
The main thing there is to answer your question about the gaurds attacking you even if you were amibley, the cheif is still KoS to ya.
No, that's not it. I conned one yesterday and was confused when he conned amiable - but I didn't stay and find out why. After reading the previous post, I'm glad I didn't. I'm a lvl 14 Pal and had no buffs or spells active at all.
What Probably happened was you got to close to Shamy or priestess. I was over there with a friend and all the gaurds coned amiably so we went to walk right through. Both my friend and I were KOS and petitioned why. What happens is that the shammy or priestess Scowl ready to attack as soon as one of the 2 attack all gaurds will attack as well amiably or not. Just following orders I guess. Con shammy and priestess before walking through. Hehe found out the hard way almost lost corpse had to die 3 times before i was able to pull corpse far enough away so I wasn't attacked.
Ok ya'll gotta remember where ogres come from. In short... They're stupid. They have the mentality of a 5 year old. With the exception of the smart Ogres (Oxymoron?). The Shaman is smart enough to know he doesn't like you and tells the others you're bad and to beat on you. Until that point they are just happy go lucky lil' guys who would drop their weapons to play patty cake with each other.
Well you will be hard pressed to make it very far if you are under 20 without a group. There are the Ogre Guards a whole team of Elementals, Tentacle Terrors, and lots of skeles, and that's just on the first level. I have not gone deeper although its not a huge dungeon, but I would recomend for Apartitionist to have a group and remember your closest town to bind will be west freeport, and you are KOS to the guards that roam Nek forest.
Camping for Chief Ghoonda in WK, we killed these guards as they are placeholders for Shamen and priestesses. Occasionally we would get one that would give exp to a level 31 (sorry, never bothered to con any of them) Also note that the ones in WK are spell casters (and yes, I mean the Ogre Guards), although I don't know about the ones in Najena.
I don't know how many other of these guys are floating around Najena, but the one gaurding the enterance cons blue to my 14th season SK.
Now, admittedly, I am a troll and I have noticed that things which con blue for me will often times con black or even yellow for other class/race combos my same level, so assume these boys average around 15 to 16.
What level do U need to be to group here? I am a mage lvl 17, but don't wanna travel to far from qynos, HH I need a group, and NK an EK are all right, but I'm looking for something with good loot, not neccesarily good EXP.
