Sandwiched between two fairly soft zones (the Greater Faydark and Steamfont Mountains),
the Lesser Faydark is the site of many-a-newbie deaths as this can be a rather treacherous area. The most noteable threats to travellers are the undead, shadowed men, brownie guards, and Equestrielle the Corrupted, all of which can make quick work of low level gnomes and elves who are misfortuned enough to happen upon them.

Those same dangers can make for decent experience to the more seasoned adventurers, as can the notorious dungeon, Mistmoore's Castle, which is located in the southwestern part of this zone.

I was killing at the faerie camp for his epic and came across 2 mobs that are not on the list:

The first is "a faerie royal guard" that was grey to a 46 and has between 712- 757 hitpoints

the second is "a faerie duchess" was also grey but had only 501-548 hitpoints.

Both seemed to be warrior-types with only doing melee dmg... duchess seemed to be a rare or uncommon spawn

Always was fun sending a pet into brownie-town on suicide mission and then running like hell to see if you could make zone before certain brownie death.

Doing a Lewis and Clark around LFay, I bumped into all the bricks around the perimeter. The Brownies were an unexpected surprise and I had 3 corpse retrievals in no time, including one in sight of the brownie farm(?). Lvl 14 Cleric, soloing. No Camo, no invis. No luck getting near the farm in the daytime, but no problem with Brownie Scouts at night. Who would have guessed? Can they see in the dark?, was I just really lucky?

Let me tell you about an idea i had one day. I was running through Grater faydark and i had accedently attacked a nexus at the wizzy spires. Needless to say that i was killed Instantly. I was extreamly mad because i lost my exp. Through my hatered i studied the creature and i devised the most extravagant scheme ever. I was wondering if my fellow Citizens of norrath would aid me. Darkies and Lighties come together in a mass horde to take one down. "What's in it for me" a person might ask. Well i think that not only the feeling you get from uniting with all of the inhabitants of norrath to squash a common evil but a great possibilty of an uber pay off and Extream exp or maybe nothing just a cold hard defeat.I am not really sure if they drop anything or if they even give exp. They are most likely the least killed Npc in the game. I have heard of one or two being killed but to my knowlage no loot has ever been identified. There are only a couple of reasons why i have not been able to find the loot items either 1. The uber guild who took one down came up with an awsome item that they dont want to get nerfed because of 1000000 crying lowbies saying its too powerfull so they did not add it to new item lists 2. None of them have ever been killed 3. Normal Loot for lvl of mob 4. No loot :( Now i am not really sure yet of the master plan but i am thinking along the lines of a massive head on attack group attack at random with no aperant stratagey.A person could even make a mule char and lvl to 5 or 6 toe just for this battle.Toe to Toe with the Unchecked Evil of the world. Or i have got a more methodical aproach. Either way i could be just stupid or really tired but that is my idea and i am willing to set up shop on any server. e-mail me at massive_nexus_strike@YHAOO.COM if you have any ideas, you want to join (( lvl is of no importance 1-65 doesnt matter Class either warriors clerics shaman monks i am in need of warm bodies :) )) or you just want to flame about how stupid i am either way i will welcome your emails and i will try my very best to email you back .No matter what it says. More information on nexus is always welcome. E-mail me and give it a chance.

Happy hunting and good luck.

Tis' true! For my 8th death tone, I thought I might take a journey to Lfay. Being the incredibly cute gnome necro that I am, that I had grown enough to wander and increase my knowledge of all things dead. I follow the path thru Steamfront. Merrily killing all that opposed me and my "yellow" pet. Leann(my pet) and I sit and chat as we wait for my mana to refill. She knows she must die in order for me to zone, but offers no resistance to the thought...I mean after all she is a skellie. I bid her farewell and zone into yet another zone...my now 3rd. I never even saw the zone.

If I'm remembering correctly (been awile since I've done the quest) you have to slaughter pixies near the tower for awile to make Thistle pop.

Does anyone know if the Tunare initiate quests still work? I know there had previously been some mention about the Gast Hearts, but now I don't see the quest mentioned.
Is this quest now permanently broken? If it isn't, could someone fill me in on what lvl you need to be to complete it and where exactly these gasts hang out in LFay?
Thanks!

I was looking for Ghast hearts and a 24 druid laughed at me (i'm 12 druid). The hard part is avoiding the brownie scouts and wolf form keeps you from being kos. Also I understand the ghast only spawn at night.

She said it had taken her quite a while to get all the hearts but she got the last while she was talking to me.

btw, my cammo wore off in front of a brownie scout, i gated soooooo fast......

i ended up ensnared at my bind site.

Not that bad
# Jan 30 2002 at 3:32 AM Rating: Decent
Come on everyone, the zone isn't that bad. You just have to know where you belong in it. I have been soloing a small bandit camp on the north side for a couple levels now. Ya that stupid black horse has killed me a few times but generally it's better hunting. No one ever goes into Lfay anymore(maybe I shouldn't say anything) so I have the whole place to myself.
And going from Gfay to Steamfont is no problem. You just have to keep your eyes open.
By the way I don't have any invis. or camo and I love the place.

Equestrielle the Corrupted.

Perhaps one has been hit by a bold, (ir)rational bolt from beyond i.e. struck around the back of the head (THWACK!) extremely hard, and decided hunt in LFay for a change of scenery .. maybe frolicking with the Pixies, or with the Orc camp, or maybe, just maybe the Nybright Sisters (highly recommended).

Whatever attraction brought you to LFay, aside from tip-toeing past a Shadowed Men shrine, applying a lil' camo(flague) or invisible to shy away from those happy-go-lucky Brownies - killing several small, woodland creatures on route as a sacrifice to protect you from your camo dropping *just* outside that Tier'Dal camp - it just wasn't enough excitement for the veteran fool who hunts in Lfay.

Ladies and gentleman, boys and girls, Cazic Thule presents Equestrielle the Corrupted <bows after a particularly nasty harm touch for oooh .. 400 points of damage - see below for the skinny>.

The anonymous post above is understated.

A couple of months ago when I was levelling my Druid alt, I developed a predilection for hunting in LFay; more specifically, the Nybright Sisters. Perhaps it was the lure of adventure that called to me. I suspect it was mainly selling tales of 'phat lewt' to fools with more than a greedy gleam in their eyes.

Whatever the motivation, it was impossible to deny the tangible benefits that arose from hunting the Nybright Sisters: rocking exp, good, solid loot - the occasional bronze weapon, backpack, precious gem, minor coinage, and bonus! a newspaper to get all wired on the latest Norrath news - with *minimal* danger.

Did I say *minimal* danger? You betcha! Providing one kept their eyes peeled and camo didn't drop en route to the Sisters at a highly inconvenient moment, say *bang* outside the Tier'Dal camp, then the Sisters represent some of the best loot and exp for the level range.

**Tip: Nybright Sisters spawn much, MUCH faster than regular Dervs in NRo. My own observation/guess work is a two minute timer.

My fool .. sorry, sidekick in my enterprise on this occasion was an Enchanter I picked up in GFay. We were in the middle of breaking up the camp by my applying 'harmony' and pulling with snare, just shooting the breeze when I noticed a break in his sentance simaltaneously with a radical re: full health to zip - Nothing, nada, niente, plummet of his health bar.

Aborting my pull, I chanced to turn around to ask why he felt the need to litter the camp with more corpses (namely his own), when I received a /tell, "Well, that sucked." synchronous to a fleeting image of a black mare galloping through the camp, straight past me before disappearing into the distance.

Good to see that those woodland sacrifices paid off, eh?

We, or to be more precise, he - my hapless sidekick - had been unfortunate enough to be standing around when Equestrielle [the Corrupted) decided to gallop through the camp. Equestrielle
broke her stride briefly to harm touch my sidekick for a whopping 400 points of damage! Ouch.

When my sidekick resuscitated me from my laughing fit, I helped him regain some of his lost exp.

The moral of this particular tale is that although the Brownies give you the merest hope that you might live till you reach the zone line, Equestrielle [the Corrupted] will barely break stride before you've figured out that you've just been the benefactor of a one-way ticket to your homepoint.

Brownie In G-fay
# Aug 11 2001 at 9:50 AM Rating: Good
Ya, I saw a brownie in G-fay too. I was only level 23 or so around then and the little bugger conned green to me. I decided to bust a cap and fry it because of all the run-ins with all of the others in L-fay. He was an easy take down, no money, no loot. I hear the brownie in G-fay is very, very rare, and barely seen ever. I think there is only one wondering the whole zone. Just watch out, there are lots of brownies in L-fay wondering around. And a whole brownie camp is located by the bandits. The gaurds can sometimes be camped for good exp around the 50th lvl. The wandering brownies are kos to EVERYBODY. The one's in the village is a different story. I walked right in, minor illusioned, bought my enchanter spell that I needed from there, and ran out. Just watch it in L-fay.

He's not all that rare. I've seen him a few times in the last few days, and see brownie parts at a vendor often enough to figure he's a 6-12 hr spawn. And a wimp. Uses Burst of Fire I think.

I use him(actually usually a her) as payback for the demented scouts in LFay. I HATE brownies now.

My first experience with Lesser Fay was actually long ago, picking of pixies at the tower and losing my bod somewhere in the zone when an orc hit me. Ouch.

More recently, now that I am questing again, began when I ducked into the zone and asked what lvl and was told to wait a good long while. Someone posted a tidbit with someone asking that same question. What server? It might have been me.

It continued lvls later when I wanted to try to find the pixie tower with a friend of mine. We were killed by a Brownie Scout. Ouch. We got our corpses and moved on to other things.

Then I read about the sisters and the other goodies. Heh heh. I explored under camo till I knew my way around (usually between going to Steam and Kelethin), and was finally able to talk a group into going to the Sister camp when we were all bored in Steam.

Very rewarding.

Our problems in LFay have been minimal (editors, leave me alone *wink*). I'm not solo-fighting there yet, but that will be soon. If I can manage to rack up that xp that is supposed to be in Oasis, I can gain a couple of lvls and solo some stuff.

Things of note:

The brownies are true to the map. Thank you SOOO much for including the link in your post eljefe(that's the only ID i could find on the post). I've not seen any near Sisters, though plenty of pixies. That can be annoying when pets are around. I've seen them attack the pixies. LOL I laugh, because it hasn't been deadly yet.

Okay, I know for a fact that the Drow can wander. He isn't a courier. He's one of the Elite that is in the camp. I know this because he killed me when he wandered to Sisters. This is the only time i've seen him wander, and the only time he's attacked there, so I am suspecting that if you're seeing one of the Drow guards, that it is because someone either wandered into the camp or was attacking the camp. The camp is easy to avoid if you are cautious, BTW. Itis a good marking point. The WE outpost is in almost a straight line up from the wall at that point.

Also, I saw on my last visit a Shadow Man between the GFay zone and the Brownie village. I'm pretty sure it was one. I only saw a scepter walking around. I passed him twice on a CR, when a brownie killed me when I wandered too far from the zone wall. I was too scared to think to tap and consider. I'm pretty sure I wasn't cammo'd, but we passed well in what would have been an aggro range, and he didn't aggro.
What's up there? Do they not aggro druids, or was I mistaken on what it was?

Question : I was told that the taint in Lfay is not on Quellios. Is it that it hasn't happened yet, or already happened? I ask because I'd really like to do some of those quests.

Peace

BROWNIES SCOUTS ARE BAD!!!!!!!!!

I am a lvl 12 rng. Me and a lvl 12 druid went to camp the sisters in this zone. None of us knew that the brownie scouts here were so tough. He had camoflage (always use some sort of invisabilty spells when traveling near brownie scouts) since he new the way and I didn't I was auto following him. I ran into a tree so in order to find each other he took of camoflage. While doing this a skeleton attacked him. Since attacking takes of camoflage we could both be seen. A brownie scout came along. (He was pretty nice commpared to the other times.) He attacked me and hit me for 29 damage then 51 damage then 91 damage (at the first hit I started to turn around, at the third I was facing him.) I ran. then he cast a spell that took 182 points of damg. I died in 4 hits, then he killed my friend. When we went to get are bodies ny friend casted camoflage, but when we started looting it turned off. The brownie scout killed me in three hits this time (he was getting less patient) he first entangled me for 48 dmg. (I could not move) then he did that 182 dmg spell twice. The third time he did the 182 spell twice (I didn't have skin like wood on so 182 twice killed me unlike the second time).
In my expert opinion I have decidide that brownie scouts ar not to be messed with.
(if you are wondering how i got my corpse back was I got a sow and invisabilty and drag it to the entrance.)

Like everyone else, I was driven to distraction by those harbingers of death, the Brownie Scouts. Then I saw this map. It changed my life. Well, at least it changed my perception of Lesser Faydark.

http://www.rigroup.com/~chrism/lesserfaybrownies.jpg

The colored lines are the paths the roving Brownie Scouts take when they wander around looking for victims. Note that if you take the logical or easy route to go someplace, you'll almost certainly encounter one sooner or later, but if you take the long way around, you can steer clear.

Sometime Friday, June 29th the taint was removed from the Lesser Faydark on Tholuxe Paells. No one I've spoken to seems to know how or when. I went there Saturday about noon central time to discover that the red haze was gone. Tracking showed no Undead Sprites. I promtly ran over to the Faerie Village to find it returned to normal. Even the ranger was gone from the ruined stone ring. I'm not sure if this is true of the other servers, but on Tholuxe Paells the Lesser Faydark is returned to normal.

this zone is freakin hard
# Jun 18 2001 at 9:53 AM Rating: Decent
I was with a group of level 11-13ish people and we decided to try hunting in LFay for a while cuz the orc castle in Crushbone was too heavily camped by others. We arrived in LFay and were torn to shreds in minutes. During my corpse recovery a guy /shouted "Does anyone know what level the monsters in here are?" and I /shouted back, "Don't mess around in here unless u r high level...I found that out the hard way (grumble)" to which he responded, "I found that out the hard way too when my lvl 30 char was killed in one hit." That should give you an idea of how rough this place is.

It didn't used to be so lethal in LFay; it has been made a lot harder lately. The info at eqatlas.com and elsewhere that says this place can be hunted at level 7-10 is dangerously out of date. Don't "find out the hard way" how wrong they are.

That said, the zone points for GFay and Steamfont are close together, so if you can absorb a 150 damage spell or two from the wandering Undead Sprite Horrors that seem to be all over the place now, you MIGHT be able to run through with SoW--assuming you don't get lost in the perpetual darkness/fog...
