I've been hanging out in Kith for a while recently and I can verify that the undead for the most part are despawning at 6am - game time.

Does anyone know why the zone doesn't change to normal mobs in daytime anymore? Not that I'm complaining, as I'm leveling a cleric and this beats going to ToFS for 30's undeads.

I don't believe it's broken, I believe they made it permanently in the 35-40 range to add zones in that range to the game -- haven't seen any lore to explain the switch.

It's 2009 and the undead are still up at all hours of the day and night. I really wanted to do the Etched Ivy and Orc Impaler etc quests with my ranger, but now I am not sure my druid would be successful!

Has anyone attempted the Kithicor quests since the change?

In answer to your question, it would seem that the undead are up all the time. I zoned in and out several times, and undead were up at 4 am, 5 am, 7 am, 4 pm. There were a few alive beasts, like the Dark Elves, and orcs. But no animals were on track that I noticed.

So how does that little Halloween (2005 and 2006) Monster Mission with Tunare and the other gods fall into this storyline? Or did the folks at SOE just randomly pull god characters from a hat and throw them into an instanced Kithicor for kicks?

Why did the war occur? Who started it? What happened? When did this happen? And whats going on now?

Please...does anyone know? Even asked Sony...they said to ask a GM, and a GM just said "a war"....lol and left it at that. Geez....ya think??

The Cursing of Kithicor

Quote:
The forces of good led by Carson MaCabe and Lord Tethys sent out recruiters to find whatever assistance they could to help defend Highkeep from the coming dark elf attack. Carson sent a party of adventurers to meet renowned champions in Freeport and escort them back to Highkeep to prepare for the fortresses defense. Both good and evil sent provisioners throughout the world buying the items they would need to equip an army. The dark elves sent emissarys to the trolls and to the orcs of Crushbone to ask assistance in their coming attack on Highkeep. The dark elf ambassador to the Splitpaw clan was called home to act as one of the dark elf generals in the coming battle. Many small skirmishes erupted as forces from both sides came into conflict with each other and tried to find as much information of the other side's plans as they could. Both sides sought as many allies as they could find and the armies of good and the armies of dark swelled as adventurers were found to aid in the coming conflict. The dark elves were finally prepared for their war. Lanys T`vyl, Laarthik and the dark elf army set out from Nektulos on the march for Highkeep. Hearing that the dark elf army was on the march, Carson MaCabe and his allies formed their army. Carson stayed in Highkeep to lead the forces that would defend the keep itself while Galeth Verdeth, Firiona Vie, and Lord Tethys along with the dwarf Tubr Broadaxe set forth with the army of good and entered the Kithicor Woods to hold off the dark army and keep them in the low lands. As they marched to Highkeep the dark elves left portions of their army behind them to guard the path back to Neriak should the battle go badly. The dark elf army entered the Kithicor woods and as they marched on Highkeep the army of the defenders came forth to meet them. As the two armies met in a clash of steel and fury the cries of the dying could be heard for miles. At the peak of the battle Lanys T`Vyl and Lord Tethys met in battle. After a long and fierce combat, the valiant Lord Tethys fell to Lanys's sword. Seeing Lord Tethys fall, the army of good renewed their attack with vicious fervor. Galeth Verdeth engaged Laarthik and his pupil Firiona Vie engaged Lanys. As these four fought, the armies themselves engaged around the combatants in a chaotic ballet of singing steel and magic. The battle raged on with neither side able to turn the tide. But as the battle raged, Lanys slowly began to fail, Firiona Vie pressed her attack, enraged at the death of the gentle Lord Tethys. Lanys faltered and fell wounded. Laarthik seeing Lanys fall made a furious attack on Galeth and the beat the paladin of Tunare back. Laarthik then took out the powerful goblin stone. He held it high, and channeling the power of the stone called upon Innoruuk, Prince of Hate and father of the dark elves. Laarthik was consumed in flame as the energies of the stone cascaded around him and his screams of agony and rage became loud enough for the God of Hate to hear in his far away plane. The ground began to tremble and the clouds gathered in angry darkness over the woodds. A portal of swirling darkness appeared and plunged the woods into an inky blackness. Innoruuk, stepped out of the portal and set foot on Norrath. He found the body of his only daughter sorely wounded and crippled. He was so enraged that mortals would dare to harm his only child that he called down a curse on the woods that had seen Lanys's defeat. Innoruuk took up the limp form of Lanys and called forth his servant Hate. Hate, abeast of pure, unadulterated anger and vile purpose stepped from the shadowy portal and bowed before it's master. Innoruuk ordered it to kill all he could find. Innoruuk, with Lanys in his arms, returned to his plane of hate with his daughter's crippled body, but the energies of the stone that had called him forth had opened the door to that plane forever. The shadows of hate would fill the Kithicor woods and curse it for eternity. The undead of Innoruuk's plane would wander the woods at darkness when the portal was strongest as the door to the plane of Hate would stand open allowing passage between the plane of hate and the world of Norrath forever.

and just incase you want to read what led up to it...

Quote:
Long had the Prince of Hate waited to visit his revenge upon the elves for destroying his plans for them. Long had he dreamt from his twisted city on the plan of hate how the would fall to his power for their betrayal. Hid devoted priestess, that had spirited his dark creations to safety during the rebellion, had been the foundation of his will to destroy them. It was her that gave birth to his unholy child that would one day embody his power on the physical plane. The time had come to introduce his daughter to the world. To complete the tasks what would bring her to power. Innoruuk called upon one of his faithful, Laarthik, one of his old guard, to find those who would rally to the banner of hate and bring his daughter to power. In a vision he spoke to him and bid him complete this taks or suffer his dark God's anger. Laarthik immediately jumped out of bed and donned his armor. He took to the streets shouting the day of the dark elves had come and that Innoruuk was sending his daughter to lead his people to victory over the light races. Many of his dark brothers and sisters gathered to hear what must be done. The bitter medicine of being cast out had never let it taste escape their lips. Lanys T'Vyl, Mistress of Envy, and daughter of hate appeared before them and Laarthik swore fealty to her and her father, that they may lead the dark elves to their rightful place in Norrath. Lanys explained to the gathering that for her to come into her full powers, they must retrieve for her the sacred armor of her father, the Armor of Darkness, log ago entrusted to the keeping of the Crimson Teir'dal, his near fanatical warriors. Long ago when the dark elves had been cast out, he had selected them to keep his dark secrets on Norrath and made them near immortal to guard them into the centuries. Lanys must vanquish each keeper of the pieces that she may prove her worth and accept the mantle her father had prepared. Lanys left the city with Laarthik what followers they had gathered to Befallen, lost capital of the ancient elves, where she knew the first of the Crimson Teir'dal guarded his prize. The followers spread out through the ruins to seek out the warrior and eventually he was found by Lanys herself. No words were spoken, only a nodded understanding, and the two engaged in furious combat. Lanys's rage showed no bounds and she struck him down and licked his blood from her blade. From his arms she took what she had come for, the bracers. She returned to the city with Laarthik and her followers and spent many days in prayer and sacrifice to her father for their success. After this small respite, Laarthik again came to the people and bid them to heed his call. The next of the pieces must be found. This day they would journey to Najena, another fallen city, and face the next of the Crimson Teir'dal. Once the crowd had gathered, Lanys again appeared to them and they made the journey. Upon arriving, once again the spread into the dungeon to find the elusive foe. Soon, he was discovered but this one seemed much more powerful than the first and had harnessed some power dark magics. On each side flew an imp companion that taunted those foolish enough to harm their master. The battled ensued and it seemed that this Crimson Teir'dal could not be defeated. In a fit of anger and frustration at the seeming stalemate, Lanys called down her father's power with a dark prayer and comsumed the area with his powerful hatred. The imps railed against the assault and now she knew she had one. While her minions kept the dark one busy, she unleashed her power on the imps. As the last of the two fell, the Crimson Teir'dal visibly drooped and the weapons of her followers made contact and drew blood. She renewed her assault upon him and soon he was slain. She kicked the dark boots from his feet and stole them away, soon disappearing again to pay homage to her father. Once again Laarthik appeared in the commons of Neriak and began to call those faithful of hate to his side. Laarthik and Lanys were well known in the dark city now and the dark elves had seen Lanys grow in power with the donning of each piece and gathered in hopes that she would fulfil their destiny as rulers of Norrath. Lanys appread to them for a third time and this time the group made journey to Solusek's Eye, where Lanys said the final of the Crimson Teir'dal awaited. As they entered the lands of lavastorm a high elf assassin leaped from the canyon rocks and attacked Lanys. The high elf had learned of her and feared that she might be a real threat. Lanys and her near fanatical followers made short work of the assassin who couldn't hope to capture the element of surprise with so many who were expert in it's use. Lanys and her brood traveled deep into the bowls of Solusek's eye and followed the pull toward her final foe. They came upon a gateway guarded by four clockwork sentries that had apparently been comandeered by the Crimson Teir'dal and the battle was engaged. Many of Lanys's followers were slain as the fight progressed, soon the Crimson Teir'dal appeared, only this time he wasn't alone. This time he had a fellow guard with him and they joined the battle with such fierceness that many of Lany's followers ran in fear, but those who were true stayed and fought on. Those the casualties were heavy, they defeated the clockworks, leaving only the two Crimson Teir'dal. The armor that Lanys had already recovered had made her much stronger and her dark magics and fierce attacks brought the two to there knees with the aid of Laarthik and her followers. As she put on the final pieces of the Armor of Darkness, a seething darkness poured from her and across those in her pressence. It was barely standable. Hatred, anger, rage, envy, jealousy, and revenge overcame them all and they were caught in a hateful haze. Now, none could deny. Innoruuk would be denied no longer. His flesh was among us!

The story that came out with EQ Beta said that Tunare and Innoruuk were simply in the middle of thier usual spats and that Kithicor was just one of the staging grounds. He tried to blow a hole from Hate to Norrath in that forest and she tried to stop him.

So the champion of Tunare (Firiona) and Innoruuk's daughter (Lanys) went at it with their forces all over the forest. It ended in something of a draw and so the forest is relatively safe by day (all the undead mobs depop and most of the zone is level 20 or lower) and sucks at night (all the undead mobs repop).

In the original story (which USED to be in Alla's lore section but that section seems to be fubar now) ... it said the reason the forest went all evil at night was because there was a partial portal to Hate very nearly open within it. The evil was leaking out of that rift and waking the dead from the battle between Firiona and Lanys. Verant/Sony never did seem to do anything with the portal/rift storyline and while I've crawled all over Kithicor I've never found any way to walk to Hate. Then again I've never been able to just walk through it at will at night without getting into trouble that required a quick exit.

It should be noted that this means many of the undead roaming about are undead elves of Tunare who have been twisted to the service of Innoruuk -- as such they are *powerful* clerics. These critters just do *not* seem to ever run out of mana like many mobs can and they *do* complete heal and are some of the most social beasties I've ever seen in the game. It's *very* easy to die under a pile of light blue and green adds in this forest even at level 70.

The actual kithicor part though, happened on Halloween , the first or second year of EQ.

I have heard that there was a war of evil vs good. There are many player stories about bits of this; the best summary that sums up my understanding was on the Prima website:

Quote:
Kithicor Forest was once a very peaceful land, but that was before the time of war . . . before Innoruuk. In the greatest conflict in modern history, the Daughter of Innoruuk, Avatar of Tunare, did battle upon these lands that lie between Lanys and Fironia. In an action condemned by the gods, Father Innoruuk protected his only daughter from defeat, not for love, but for pride. Unwilling to have his daughter conquered by a follower of Tunare, he opened forever a rift in space between Norrath and the Plane of Hate. This severing of the dimensions killed everything in the forest and hundreds of Warriors’ blood soaked the lands of Kithicor. While Tunare’s blessing keeps the forest safe during the day, Innoruuk’s hatred haunts the night. Therefore, younger parties are safe enough during the day, but only the experienced and masters dare set foot into the forest at night. Many younger characters have learned the meaning of the word fear while watching the sun set upon the forest with the protection of Rivervale still a way off.

Hehe, She wasn't punished if I remember. I am not sure if info from the EQ RPG manual is any good, but it states that it was a stale mate between the two forces, even after Innoruuk popped his long, arse nose into the battle. Anyways, because of Innoruuk's intervention, the fight caused a split in control for the forest. During the day, it is safe to travel, but at night you better shake what your deity gave you across the forest. Most mobs nuke for a lot and while running from one, you tend to run into another.

DO NOT, i reapeat DO NOT travel straight through this zone. Stick to zonewalls, no matter what level you are. If you are a 50+ you may or may not make it during the night time. If you are unlucky you could easily agro a mob or 2 that hit in the mid 200's, and they do it fast, and just to add a bit of insult to you, they Harm Touch you for 800 or so.

If you are below level 50, wait till daylight (/time between 9am and 5pm), and then stick to the zone walls.

Well yeah, I "snuck and hide"-ed through this zone anytime of the day or NIGHT!

Some are LB to a 55th level "business woman", but I have no problems at all. There is a mix of live and undead mobs at night so regular IVU nor regular invis is going to help you.

This zone deserves its bad rep, but, I have hunted here and found it empty and peaceful. Pull to a corner or a zone line. Some mobs will root you, so be careful.

A warning to other Tier'dal, the Teir'dal here are most inhospitible and rude. Just because they have blue skin, that doesn't make them kin! Give them a wide berth anytime, day or night.

No need to wait for daytime, just get SoW, and stay on the NORTH zone wall, when running from WC to HHP. The south wall takes you thru a camp of orcs that aggro lower levels.

If you get something chasing you along north wall, sow should outrun it, and you have rivervale zoneline as an escape route.

Plus FYI daytime is not completely safe either. If a druid has done their epic coin turn in, a "teir'dal reaver" approx level 50, wanders the zone for a little while afterward.

I have always been curious about what is in Kithikor Forest. I have been on the game for a couple of years and never been off the zone wall, Soooooo, I brought up a halfling ranger to level 9 (no cr), and ran Gobbnie streight out from the Rivervale entrance, during the Norrath day, and down the other side AND REACHED WC!!!!!!. Then waited for nightfall, and TOOK THE PATH BACK!!!! I had a chance to see all those big baddies in the zone, and survived to tell the story, I did make it to Rivervale. Well, I am not so stupid as to think that I could repeat this feat, I still am careful to use the zone wall when ever I need to go to the Ranger Guild.
My tale of this zone
# Dec 21 2002 at 2:25 PM Rating: Decent
I'm a lvl 9 High Elf Enchanter, when I hit lvl 8 I went to buy a pet spell from my guild for this lvl but to my horror learned I had to get to Highpass Keep to buy them and anything above. Thanks to Planes of Power I was able to port myself to Misty Thicket with a nice short and safe run to Rivervale, there passed through to Kithicor Forest. It was suppose to be a short walk to Highpass Hold. I was oblvious about that the undead come out at night, so I ran into some sort of skeleton which killed me in about 5 swings. Luckly, I didn't have to retrieve my corpse. I then learned newbies should travel in the day, so I tried it again. This time I even took extra care and waited for someone else to make the journey across as a target. I think she was a Edrin Wiz. It was about 10AM. We followed the path and about halfway there she passed some sort of Dark Elf Assasin, he didn't even flinch at her. So I tried to pass, of course he attacked me. I made a run for Highpass but when in sight of the entrance I was killed. I then went back and tried it again. This time I waited for high noon and just ran all the way and never looked back, this time a Bixie attacked me but I kept running. He did a total of about 2 hp of damage so I made it free and clear to Highpass. Once inside I was attacked by a Orge at the entrance! Not sure it this is always the case but I kept on running. With one bubble of HP left I came to a bridge with a guard and they duked it out, I didn't even stopped to see who won. Once safe inside I regended and continue on to may task. I had enough PP to buy a lvl 8 Pet. After all I went through I sold all the jewery I had in stock and I was wearing, I used it to buy all the pet spells I could, I don't have to return until level 24. Hoepfully, I will be strong enough to survive this #&%@ level because if I die then I will have to recover my corpse! Yikes!
Just Getting Thru
# Oct 25 2002 at 6:02 PM Rating: Decent
A very nice Level 4 Enchanter showed me how to escape Rivervale when I was just 9.

1. Know where you are going.
2. Enter the zone around 7am. Don't be caught in Kith at night.
3. Get a SoW. (Camo if you want, but it's not that helpful.)

Most Important: Run high up on the wall and don't stop for anything. Forget the paths until you are tough enough to take out the local undead.

So leaving RV for WC, I go left up on the wall and follow it around to the WC zone and reverse that coming back. No lingering, no looking, no talking to strangers. Smiley: yikes

Be safe.

A few days ago my then 16th level WE druid (now 20) was heading through during the day to Rivervale, staying on the path, when 'a Dark Elf Assassin', somewhat different from the guys in Misty Thicket, jumped me.

This skinny little DE conned around 14th level to me, and I dispatched him pretty easily. He dropped a no-drop item, 'a severed Tier'Dal Hand'.

I have found no references to this on any site or through guild, etc. Anyone know what it is for ?

I spend my nights in this haunted forest... and my days are spent selling my armor that I have smithed to prepare for the purchase of a more deadly sword to slay the undead with. It is known that the undead generally do not roam at the day time... but on several occasions even as late as 11am or early as 2pm I have Sensed Undead throughout the zone. The reason why they are there I'm not sure... maybe the darkness of the forest permits them to roam the forest. Be aware.. if you see a lone person hunting in the forest, that slayed undeads spirit may still linger long after it has been sent to its grave again.

rarely the more powerful undead will still be wandering around in daylight, but not usually. There are low level undead that wander around in this zone, as well as some static spawns near a ruin. that may be what you are sensing with your spell.

i meant to ad this...
when the undead start to cast (them ones that do that healing!) bash with shield and then immediately cast stun to double sure that they dont get that heal off. I found out that this makes battles shorter as just bashing doesnt always interrupt (specially the ones not timed). I have yet to see a mob not get interrupted by a stun. If you dont interrupt them when casting, you will end up killing one about 2 or 3 times because they heal so much. Thats all. I will hunt here in kithicor till 40 i guess

2. Go get the thing and bring it near zone... use expulse undead to nuke it for 94damage. If you have sow you can use it again before you melee if it not too close.
3. Even with a low dex of 96, the Ghoulbane will proc at least twice per battle for 162 max at level 35. oh.. bring lots of bandages before you battle here to save mana.
4. Some battles are VERY long! I often take so long to kill a undead cleric or a tortured healer that they actually go OOM!!! They just stand there taking the beating.
5. The reason for saving mana is that once they start running away from you, nuke with expulse undead so that you dont follow them and bring others into battle. After killling, then meditate. The problem with this tactic is that you'll only be able to do about 4 to 5 battles per nite. But you'll get at least 1 blue each nit3, out of just 4 fights! All loot is yours, all exp is yours. Best of all, you're near freeport and not have to be in rathe mountains or somewhere far off from yer corpse if ya die.
*** get dex as high as you can here. I had some spirit of monkey or something cast on me before and my dex was 115, was proccing 3 times per battle

euedien 38th cleric. <I LOVE KITH>

1. us clerics get the undead dd. mine now dies 270. once out of 10 times will it ever do less. i have actually been soloing kith off and on starting at lvl 33ish. not to hard to do but some things to point out. the high mobs (begin) to pop at 7pm norr time while the bulk of them come in at 8pm. soloing can be done by memming the proper spells and NEVER leaving site of the zone. in fact just wait for undead clerics to walk by if you are lvl 33.(they do roam the perimeter and you can see them walking by. at least i do pulling to the wc zone. mem the following spells. your current highest undead dd. your current highest stun -holy might or force. your current highest root. your sense undead. your invis vs undead. DA OR DB of course. and youll usuially have 1 slot that you wont use. you pick that one. if your over 34. buff your self to you fullest capable at all times. the undead are casters. well most of them in kith. WARNING when using your sense undead. note that when it points you in the direction of the most nearbye undead. that doesnt mean the a wolf isnt 5 feet away from you <the wolves are not undead.> unfortunetly there will always be times when you pull an undead and a wolve will follow as the wolves are in abundence. btw the last slot thats free dont use any type of fear spell as it will just fear em off farther into the zone. stick with undead clerics at 33. at 38 the forrest is yours. well aside from the $%+ which you wont see since your NEVER leaving site of the zone.

2 even in the day time if your a good race there are areas of the forest where you will be running or walking and suddenly you will be chain nuked for 800's. no joke. its those dark elves i believe ther are a few of ther camps in the forrest. btw ive killed a lot of undead clerics not once i have i seen this +wis weapon they drop.

if your soloing an undead with a pet always kill pet first. use the undead nuke not the anti summon spells for obvious reasons-they dont do as much dd with your corresponding lvl.

when your around 32 and up you can cast invis vs undead and pretty much not be seen by any mobs. the undead ones of course.

hope this helped some of you

Clomen Walker is in the first house on your right when you enter in from the Commons. You never really have to leave the zone area to find him.

Be careful at night, last night I was almost killed by a ghoul healer when I was both full health and full mana. I am a 43 Ranger, and I thought maybe I would get some vengeance for all the times I had run screaming through that place after getting some Ivy Etched. Needless to say, it will still be a while before I can get any solo vengeance in here.

Very nasty stuff in there when the sun goes down.

Hunting the night away...
# Jun 26 2001 at 3:45 PM Rating: Decent
This zone makes a *excellent* hunting ground for groups in their low 30's, as myself and some friends found out this morning. We had a 34 Ranger (Myself), 30 Druid, 30 Monk, 31 Druid, 30 Warrior, and 29 Enchanter. We were taking Undead clerics quite easy (They are also most definatally /not/ level 35, they con blue to me at 34, every last one of them, meaning they are level 33 or lower), dread wolves with little problem, Dreaded wolves were a good fight...Zombie Commanders and their pets were a pain in the butt, but doable (sow off, click walk! =) ), and we actually were insane enough to try ONE Enraged Dread Wolf, which we actually killed with this group, even being unable to stick a single spell on it (and with two druids chain casting Greater Healing and the enchanter passing out Rune II at a alarming rate). I don't recommend the enraged dread wolves until late 30's with a good group, they hit for a max of 109 Damage and duel hit quite often, the rate in which they can chew up a level 34 Ranger and 30 Monk was quite alarming..

Only one died in three nights of hunting, and the loot was actually decent. Give this zone a shot if you're above 30 and got some friends around, you'll have a really good time (tip: Pull to /very/ near a zone line, overpull here can wipe out a entire party in about 10 seconds.)

I was the 30 druid in Doomcloud's group. If nothing else, hunting here gives a sence of revenge. It was quite strange how we ended up all together. Doom and I went to hunt and found the other druid who agreed to join us. Then an enchanter zones in and decides to join the group. Doom and I talked to our monk friend who wanted to help, and lastly we just picked up a warrior. I can say that this was the best pickup group I've ever had. The enchanter stunned and kept all the casters from fearing/healing/lifetapping. Us two druids healed and DoTted the undead and the meleers...well....meleed. Good exp, decent coins, and a chance at some uber-wepons, all in all a great place to hunt. The wepons are, however, rare drops. Out of the many, many undead we killed, we only looted one fine steal dagger.

I'd also like to note that this is great for busy people to hunt. You fight at night, and have all the Norrathian day to bank, sell, auction, quest, kill shadowed men or hill giants in WC, port some friends, or do a real life errend, like make food, go smoke, or take a shower. Then you all rally back in Kith and start all over agian. It's intense fighting, and then you can relax. Excelent fun

Kithicor is usually just a place to run though, and run through fast! (heh) However, as a Ranger, it has become a useful resource for me, because there is a Ranger trainer, fletching supply merchants, and of course, the Ivy-etched quest people. It’s close to the bank in Rivervale, which is a safe zone, and easily handy to Highkeep and WC.

Once I completed the Ivy Bracer quest, I had half an hour before I needed to log off, not really enough to get with a group in HHK or Runnyeye, so I put on track and looked around Kith for some prey, as it was only 10am Norrath time.

There is a small group of named Shralok orcs (lvls 13-22) along the western wall, just south of the entrance to Highhold. They are spaced far enough apart that if you position yourself right, you can pull them one at a time. I had solo’ed one back in my Highhold orc group days (17-19), hoping they’d drop the Shralok pack (no such luck, go to HH for that). I picked them off one at a time; there were a couple greens and a couple blues. The Chief and one of the other ones are casters; I think 3 of the 6 cast. They took damage pretty quickly and the non-casters could not keep up with me for damage output. The casters on the other hand could reel off 15-30+ damage at a pop; but I had resist cold and resist fire on so I was doing ok with only a little bit of down time to med.

Aside from my own buffs, I only used snare and burst of flame, and happily whacked away on them with dual weild/double attack and kick. (on a good round, I can get in close to or over 100 dmg in dual weild/double attack and then another 5-10 in a kick). Took them all out in less than 20 minutes and earned about 2+ blues in the process (lvl 25) and was only down 2 reds of health, although down 4 blues of mana between self-buffing, heals between them, and fighting mana. Since it was almost 4pm game time by the time I finished these guys off, I headed back to Rivervale to the bank and to log.

In all, a decent 20 minutes, with a tidy little bit of experience to boot, reasonably easy solo. Then as I zoned in to Riverdale, I got to kill off Nillipus the Brownie to boot! (that little sucker hits hard considering he's supposed to be 17!!)

Well when I came out it was so dark and foggy I couldn't find the wall or a path. I travled blindly right into an undead clearic and it struck me for around 400 points. 1 hit KO I was dead. Luckly I had locate corpse spell and found my corpse not too far from the entrance to WC.

The moral to this story is get SOW, INVIS VR UNDEAD, TRAVLE IIN DAY, STAY BY WALL OR PATH, AND STAY AWAY FROM UNDEAD CLERICS AND HUTS!!!!!!

No. The undead that roam Kithacor Forest at night are KOS to every race, every class, everytime. If they con blue+, they'll agro on you. If they are green, they'll jump you while medding/sitting. Don't think invis versus undead is going to help much, about 3/4 of the mobs at night are either Clerics or Shadowknights, there's not quite as many melee classes wandering around.

Best way to travel kith at night is the same way to get through nasty zones all over. Sow+invis/camo+lev and hug the highest zone wall you can find, then walk off in the direction you need to go, hugging walls if possible, and staying up as high as possible on that zone wall. Still, even at level 34, if I ran right into the middle of 3 or 4 spawns, and they were all SK's, i'd be dead before I knew what hit me.

Invis vs. Undead is better than you think. I have ran past many undead clerics and shadowknights and been ignored. The undead will see you if you are merely invisible. If using invis vs. undead, you have an excellent chance of making it across the zone.

Still, it is best to either run on the walls, or run during the day. Reason for this are the dreadwolves who love to prowl arround at night. You could be running past an undead knight with pet, you just passed it, and boom, a dreadwolf nails you. Naturally this drops your invis vs. undead protection. Guess what -- the knight and pet are going to nail you too. It happened to me exactly that way. (lucky I was by Rivervale when that happened, so I survived THAT scare.)

PoH and POS (sky, often called air), you need to buy stones, the old world hate stones are sold in Neraik, if your not a dark elf, make an alt to buy it. They are one shot for 150pp, and they are consumedin the casting of the spell, so it's a pricy trip.

The Air (sky) stones are bought in Erudin i belive(do not quote me on that one). I know however that you CAN buy them in POK. I am not sure about the Hate stones there, but i bet they are for sale too.

Dark Elf hut
# Apr 16 2001 at 1:07 PM Rating: Default
There are Dark Elf in some hut. They are aggressive and powerful.
I run pass the forest with sow at day thinking that all the undead have gone.
But when I pass by a hut there run a dark elf and killed me within a second.
When I get back there for my corpse it become a undead camp and my corpse
is under a ghoul's foot. I try to drag my corpse but the dark elf killed me again.
The other time I go there the undead have gone but the dark elf are still there.
So I get invisibility and drag my corpse. Luckily I success.

So the conclusion is: Don't get in this zone at night, and always keep high at the
northern wall and stay away from any hut.

That elf was probably a triggered dark-elf spawn that appears when some quest item is handed in (which one escapes me now). He wanders around and attacks on sight...not sure if it's any race/class but he got me dead in a lil less than 7 seconds a while back. Tier'Dal Reaver or something like that I think his name was but he doesn't stay in one particular hut, from what I've been told. He got me in the hut to the far east side of the Forest but wasn't in there when i entered so he must have come in from outside when he wandered into range.

Look out for him...he's NASTY-tough!

Cleric Boot Quest
# Dec 24 2000 at 9:26 AM Rating: Default
For those clerics out there who do the quest, here is some pointers.

1) I did this quest at level 30. It can be done lower but I chose to wait til this level because of the level spawns at night. The ignot spawns at neg 70, pos 3275 on a log. You can either levitate up there, use SOW and jump from fallen log nearby, or climb up the log my jumping repeatedly. Last is really hard and requires luck.

2) The book of Turgan spawns in a burned hut at loc pos 1700, pos 1100. Both book and Ignot spawn on four hour cycles...it has been confirmed by yours truely. BE WARY OF GETTING THE BOOK AT NIGHT. I have spotted at least five or six high level spawns camping the hut. These include an ENRAGED DREAD WOLF, who will waste you faster than you can say your name. When I gated back in from WC, I was grouped with a druid and saw one in the distance...I warned the druid to stay put where she was til it disappeared.

3) A good idea for getting these spawned items is to bind yourself at the previous locs and leave the zone come night, then gate back at 8AM game time, although be warned, the druid was still picking up high level undead on her track at 10AM....guess they didn't despawn yet.

4) Once you get the items you need for this quest, get the hell out of there...it is very dangerous at night. I do not recommend camping the items at night, as it is very hazardous to your health. If you do decide to do so, hope that you have an inviz vs undead, or just watch your back.

Good questing fellow clerics!

FORGET DAYTIME SAFETY
# Sep 26 2000 at 10:32 AM Rating: Default
Yes you heard me. The safe days are OVER. I was going through Kithicor woods seeking out the Ranger guild. It was 4pm and I had wandered to a house just south of the main road. MULTIPLE high level undead came sprinting out and melted me. I though he it a merchant hut until I caught a glimpse of a Failed Experiment. I started running but the hits started raining down. I died in seconds not getting very far. Multiple 100+ point melee blows, a 200 point Fire based DD, and I never suvived the DOT to see how bad it chewed up the HP's. I was 20th and got creamed.

The hard part? I had to come back and get my corpse. From 8am to 5pm there was a Zombie Commander's Pet roaming the West end of the zone by Rivervale. I kept trying to angle around him. I returned to the hut to find 2 ghoul sentries and a blue skelly. Inside were 3 special undead. An Undead Cleric, the Failed Experiment and another. This was at 2pm!! These are new undead and aren't disappearing during the day.

My body was right outside and I crept up to the UN-Safe house slowly. Sneak, Camo, and Invis to undead wouldn't help. I just steeled my nerves and kept inching forward trying to summon my corpse. I darted forward, pulled the body, and ran away as fast as I could back to Rivervale with SOW. POWER-DRAGGING my stuff behind me. Two minutes later, I was safe at the zone.

The house is located at loc +830, +2300. It used to be an empty hut. Avoid it unless you have a LOT of Firepower and a great Cleric. Tunare be with you!

I've hunted there as a low through mid 30 level druid somewhat extensively. I thought it might be helpful for people to know that the undead BEGIN to pop at 8:00pm and FINISH depopping at 8:00am (tracking was useful in finding this out). Also, for spell purposes, the dread wolf types are not considered animals.
If you decide to hunt there, be especially careful of enraged dread wolves. I've seen them take down post level 50 players in seconds.
about the enraged dread wolves
# May 15 2001 at 3:39 AM Rating: Default
the enraged dread wolves are mean, i will give you that, they are near 100% magic resistant. but the part where they take down level 50+ in seconds isn't real.

a 40 druid a 40 warrior and myself, at the time a 49 cleric were hunting the enraged dreadwolves in kith,as well as the undead cleric-types for their drops.

we killed the enraged dreadwolves, with little problem, other than the fact it took 5 minutes. the only damage we could do was melee. none of the DoTs or nukes we were using touched the enraged dreadwolf.

One good precaution in this zone is to keep yourself in walk mode. If you are feared you will move at a much slower pace and the AI in the game will not turn it off. This can save your life and the life of your party. And if you decide to flee an encounter it is only one click to turn walking off.

Some people take this to the extreme and root themselves!

According to the lore of the game, Kithicor Forest was originally the battleground between the son of Innorukk and a powerful follower of Tunare. The result of this battle left a zone deadly at night, and fairly safe during the day.

Though there are the dangers of the time changes, traveling through Kith can be accomplished if the player takes a few precautions. First, unless you are prepared to fight groups of high lvl undead, always travel through the forest from 6am (7 would probably be better) until 4 or 5pm. The zone will probably be safe at 7pm, but if you leave W commons, or High Hold Pass at this time, you won't make it through the zone before nightfall. To check the game time of Norrath, you can type in the, /time command. Also always travel high along the wall, even at night, this can help avoid aggroing local mobs that could rip you apart. Follow the right wall from the W commons zone and it will take you first to Rivervale, then to High Hold. Following the right or left wall from Rivervale will lead you to High Hold and W commons respectively. And then of course, following the left wall from High Hold will take you to Rivervale, then W commmons.
At night, various lvl 35+ undead come out. These include both casters and melee fighters, so do not thing that you can just run away and be safe. Also, many travelers have been killed even while using Invis vs. Undead, so travel at your discretion.
During the day, Kith becomes as safe as a normal forest. Low lvl bixies, wolves, and other forest creatures roam the zone. A few daytime dangers to watch for, are the Shralock Orcs, to the left side of the HHP entrance, and a mid lvl bear that camps near a cabin.
Kithicor does have a number of drops, quests, and quest items that have good return, however always watch your time, or the danger will quickly surpass your gains in this zone.

For the 2 years I've been playing EQ I have never died running through Kithcor at night if you hug the right wall. But I have been aggroed a couple of times near the rivervale zone. Got there in plenty of time.

I tried it at 7 and munch munch I was chewed up and spit out dead, SOW was dispelled off me. This was all within 20 seconds of leaving the tunnel.

Please wait till 8 am before entering. You won't live, and will regret it if you don't.

This zone is a newbie zone for Halflings during the daytime, with normal monsters ranging from level 1 to level 10, and a few camps and wanderers like any newbie zone. However, at night all the newbie monsters go away and are replaced by level 30+ undead that can see ITU and have large aggro radii. It should be avoided unless one is seriously in a hurry or actually wants to hunt these monsters. They sometimes drop nice 1hb weapons for clerics, so a 29+ cleric could probably have fun here.

I only recommend that 29+ cleric having there, if he/she is in a group. Those undead spawn close together, some have pets, and some can cast a high level fear (that even with high resistance one can easily get feared). I nice group can can pull to the Rivervale or W.Commons zone, but be real careful. I've been with 2 groups of 33-40 that got slaughtered thanks to 2 commanders and a healer fearing us and healing the commanders. It's a good place for EXP, but I recommend treading lightly.

a level 29 cleric will get eaten alive by the undead-cleric-types. at 47 i had to zone my cleric in a one on one fight with an undead cleric. he kept healing himself, and my stuff was being resisted too much. just happens sometimes. and at 44, clerics get the 585 damage undead nuke, and i still had to zone out. please don't try and solo the undead clerics at 29 =)
