Beginning

Sienn Kastane may be found inside a building in the Plane of Knowledge on the evil side at -885, +230.

Note: If you completed the pre-quest, you have to first give her the non-functional Innoruuk's Voice.

You say, 'Hail, Sienn Kastane'

Sienn Kastane says 'You. You are the one I have seen in my visions.' Sienn removes a dark blade from a scabbard. I have just obtained this sword from one of my apprentices. This blade may be the key to the very existence of the shadowknight. Are you familiar with what has [been transpiring]?'

You say, 'What has been transpiring?'

Sienn Kastane places her hands upon your forehead. A gravelly voice that is clearly not Sienn's fills your mind. 'Do you feel it? I am sure you do. Innoruuk's voice is so distant now. His voice is merely a whisper. This disturbs me greatly. How will the evil ones do their master's bidding without his dark guidance? I fear the end is almost near for true champions of darkness such as yourself. We cannot let that happen! I believe I know of a way to slow down the diminishing of our master's voice. There is a sword of great evil. It is however not of this world. I believe I can summon it to this plane of existence, but I will need several [items] first. . .' The voice ends. 'That was the voice of Ritald, a luggald in the service of the dark lord, Innoruuk.'

You say, 'What items?'

Sienn Kastane says 'Your first task is to find me a tome. The sword has told me of a tome that details its history. I do not know where this tome might be, but I suggest you talk to Grand Librarian Maelin here in the Plane of Knowledge. He may have more information of this tome. When you find it, return it to me.'

The Bet

Grand Librarian Maelin may be found at the top of the tower in the Library of Knowledge.

You say, 'What tome?'

Grand Librarian Maelin says 'Yes, I seem to recall having such a tome. But evil it is. I don't hand out such dangerous knowledge to just anyone. However. . . I am curious about something and perhaps you can help me. A prominent professor of biology and I have a bet as to how a certain creature from the Realm of Discord, known as a murkglider breeds. He believes they give live birth, and I believe they are egg layers. Unfortunately, I have been so busy here, that I have not been able to make arrangements to travel there and observe the creatures more. If you could travel to the Realm of Discord and [find an egg] for me, I will give you the book you seek.'

You say, 'Find an egg?'

Grand Librarian Maelin says 'I appreciate your help with this! The creature I was supposed to study are most commonly known as murkgliders. The easiest way to describe them is that they look like large, floating octopuses. See if you can hunt down any breeding murkgliders and return an egg to me that I can study. You might want to bring some companions along, as this might be a dangerous task.'

Head to the Ruined City of Dranik and bring a raid. In the southwest corner of the zone there is a tunnel system, including two rooms full of murkgliders. In the northernmost room, find "a murkglider creeper" or "a murkglider swarmer." If you are lucky, you may be find a Murkglider Breeder at -770, +890, which hits for 900, procs Tentacle Snap, and spawns 6 x level 66 Murkglider Spawn (need exact name) during the fight. The spawn are magic resistant but easily mezzable, and the breeder is possibly one-groupable (need confirmation). Loot A Gelatinous Murkglider Egg. Bring this back to Maelin.

Grand Librarian Maelin says 'I knew they were egg-layers! Ha, this is one gnome who hates losing a bet and thanks to you I wont! This is the tome you seek. Please bring it back to me when you are done.'

You receive a book called The Silent Gods (no text).

The Sheath

Bring the book to Sienn.

Sienn Kastane says 'You have done well in acquiring this tome.' Sienn opens the tome and begins to read. 'It says that a sheath must be created to protect the sword. Unfortunately the instructions for making this sheath are a bit unclear. The only clues given to the items needed are, to gather a dark hide of a creature unmatched in its bleakness, a holy lock of hair from a fair creature unmatched in happiness, and a gem possessing the very essence of fear itself, held by a creature more fearsome. If you find these three items, combine them in a sewing kit and then hand the sheath to me. I await your return.'

The first item is a Gloom Nightmare Hide, from "a gloom nightmare" in the Plane of Nightmare. Easily single-groupable.

The second item is a Lock of Blessed Unicorn Hair, from "a rolling plains steed" in the Plane of Growth. Highly magic-resistant, but also single-groupable.

The third item is an Eye of the Dark God, from Amygdalan knights and warriors in the Plane of Fear. Single-groupable, although you may need a raid to break into the plane itself.

Combine the three items in a sewing kit or loom to craft a Sheath of Darktidings (minimum skill required 100, need trivial).


No More Frogs, a.k.a. Trolls' Revenge

Give the sheath to Sienn.

Sienn Kastane says 'I admit that I did not think you could accomplish this task. Perhaps you really are meant to be the sword's champion. Our work here is not done however. There are those that wish the sword to be destroyed. One of these beings is a froglok paladin named Fraga. He was last seen in the Plane of Valor. Kill him and bring me any clues as to what his plans may be.'

Fraga may be found at the camp of tents near the graveyard in the Plane of Valor. He is slowable, is immune to changes in runspeed, rampages, quads for 2.8k, i.e., bring some friends. Once he's dead, loot Fraga's Parchment.

Blood and Rune

Give the parchment to Sienn.

Sienn Kastane begins to read the parchment. A worried look plays across her face. 'The weapon is not safe. The forces of good strongly wish to have it destroyed. To make matters worse, the sword is emanating hate that can be felt by powerful beings, both good and evil, across all planes of existence. As it stands right now, I wouldn't be surprised if the forces of good are converging to have the sword destroyed and the forces of evil are conniving to take the sword for themselves. It is only a matter of time before they locate the sword and come for it themselves. I have been studying the tome while you were gone. The tome describes a way to [mask the sword's presence].'

You say, 'Mask the sword's presence?'

Sienn Kastane says 'In the Plane of Nightmare, there dwells a banshee known as the Wailing Sister. In her possession is a rune of great power. The sword's hatred has awoken from a deep slumber. The rune however is only part of what will be needed to help mask the sword's hatred. The rune is inactive until combined with the Wailing Sister's blood. Recover the rune and a sample of her blood and return them to me.'

Locate The Wailing Sister in the Plane of Nightmare. She paths near the Hobgoblin camp (/loc needed).

You say, 'Hail, The Wailing Sister'

The Wailing Sister wails loudly in agony!

She attacks. She hits for 900 and procs Cloud of Fear. Single-groupable. Once she's dead, loot a Wailing Rune and Wailing Sister Blood. Bring these back to Sienn:

Sienn Kastane pours the blood on the rune. The rune begins to glow a bright red color and a horrifying wail fills your ears. 'The rune has been activated.' Sienn holds the rune against the sheath you created earlier. The rune instantaneously melts into the sheath. 'The sword is safe for now, but I think it should be moved just in case. Do not lose the sheathed sword. If you do lose it somehow, come back to me and tell me you lost it and I will attempt to make you another one. I only have enough left of the items you brought me to make you one more though. Now, take the sword to a servant of mine, named Gilina Yilzior, here in the Plane of Knowledge. She is very knowledgeable and should be able to help you further.'

You receive (the first version of) Sheathed Innoruuk's Voice.

Hunt the Shadowknights

Locate Gilina Yilzior at -665, +1025 in the Plane of Knowledge and give her the Sheathed Innoruuk's Voice.

Gilina Yilzior looks at you with a cold stare. 'The time has come. I have heard the dark blade's whispers. It wants to find a master, but before that can become a reality, a test must be passed. There are four other shadowknights who wish to become the sword's wielder. If you are up for the challenge, then seek out Silithis Sisnta in the Timorous Deep, Gubblegrot Smashfist in the Ocean of Tears, Skurza Slicekutt in the Swamp of No Hope, and Giligatabbus Igglebix in Iceclad Ocean. Return their heads to me and we shall see if the sword is satisfied with your progress.'

To "activate" each shadowknight, simply hail them.

Silithis Sisnta is an iksar in the Timorous Deep who wanders near +4865, -1620, +10. She quads for 1170, is unsnareable, summons, and procs Blood Cloud. Loot Silithis's Head.

Gubblegrot Smashfist is an ogre at -1880, -1340 in the Ocean of Tears post-revamp. He quads for 1170, is unsnareable, and procs Shadow Breath. Loot Gubblegrot's Head.

Skurza Slicekutt is a troll in the Swamp of No Hope, who paths near +290, -570. He quads for 1170, is unsnareable, summons, is slowable, and procs Deadly Lifetap. Loot Skurza's Head.

Giligatabbus Igglebix is a gnome at 1100, -2700 in the Iceclad Ocean. This is on the 8th iceberg in the line that stretches away to the south and east of the docks. He quads for 1170, is snareable, can be feared, and does not summon. Loot Giligatabbus's Head.


Paladin Blood

Bring all four heads back to Gilina.

Gilina Yilzior says 'I can sense that the sword is pleased with your progress. However there is another task it wishes you to perform. I have learned through a contact of mine, that there is to be a ceremony in Kithicor Woods. Several paladins will be converging there to try to cleanse the undead from the forest, once and for all. The blade thirsts for the blood of these paladins. Before the blade will allow you to become its champion, you must kill as many of these paladins as you can, and bring me three samples of their blood. Take the Sheathed Innoruuk's Voice back and when you have three samples of paladin's blood, hand them to me along with the Sheathed Innoruuk's Voice so that I may perform the ceremony to sate the blade's thirst. Go now and find my contact in Kithicor. His name is Tarnamil. Take the sword back for safe keeping.'

You receive (a different version of) Sheathed Innoruuk's Voice.

Tarnamil is a green /con skeleton in Kithicor Forest at +575, +1665 (only at night?).


You say, 'Hail, Tarnamil'

Tarnamil says 'The paladins are coming from the west, my lord. The come to destroy the dead that walk at night. Already, the undead generals plot their demise, but they are powerful. They approach soon. I am getting out of here.'

At this point, six paladins spawn to the west of you: Uglib Gaibido (froglok), Xotmidd Ferlop (froglok), Jarnig Kilanid (human), Valinda Erginton (human), Tilminos Farondi (erudite), Shressa Farondi (erudite). Buff up and walk toward Tarnamil's spawn point, then sit down in a ring. You can pet pull three. Max hit is around 800. Loot 3 x Paladin Blood Sample.

Templar Fight

Head back to the Plane of Knowledge and give all three Paladin Blood Samples and the Sheathed Innoruuk's Voice to Gilina.

Gilina Yilzior says 'Well done.' Gilina takes the blood samples starts to pour them onto the blade of Innoruuk's Voice. The blade appears to become super-heated as the blood drops trickle down its surface. A thick black smoke begins to waft from the blade. 'The blade is now complete. Before I give the blade to you there is something else you must do. A mighty templar named Sir Elmonious Falmont has heard of your crimes against the paladins and seeks revenge. It is important that we let none get in the way of our goals. As we speak, he is making his way from the Western Wastes in the continent of Velious to kill us. Destroy him and return his holy symbol to me.'

Bring a raid to the Western Wastes. Sir Elmonious Falmont may be found northwest of the zone-at -3200, -2300.

You say, 'Hail, Sir Elmonious Falmont'

Sir Elmonious Falmont says 'I knew you would come. You will soon learn that evil does not pay!'

He attacks. He is a paladin, quads for 3500, procs Aura of Falmont once a minute and also procs Supernal Retribution. Loot Sir Elmonious's Holy Symbol. A chest can spawn with additional gear after you loot the symbol. Bring the symbol back to Gilina.

Gilina Yilzior says 'You have performed well. The blade is yours to wield now, champion. You may be on your way, or stay to hear about a [vision] I recently had.'

You receive Innoruuk's Voice (the real weapon this time), a.k.a. shadowknight epic 1.5. You also receive 5 AAs and access to your new epic 1.5 title, Archfiend.

plane of fear farming

just want to give everyone a heads up about the eye of the dark god that you have to farm. dread, terror and fright are golems that are usually found near the roaming mob 'the shade of cazic thule.' they will deathtouch you before you even see them. I recommend going to the back of the ring of fire and entering it that way, seeing as most of the warriors and knights are in the small temple inside. also, up here, as far as I know you cannot be deathtouched or harmed by the various raid mobs in the zone. good luck and I hope this helped anyone who might not have been prepared. Just finished 1.5 on my 3rd SK (on Fippy) lv68 3 days 6 hrs played - no powerlevelling

Started collecting drops levelling up - actually started lv67 - finished lv68

Group consisted of 68 SK 68 Necro 70 Dru at the end with almost max AAs (thanks autogrant up to not including DoDH)
Used 2 cleric mercs + 69 or later 70 tank merc for all fights

Breeder was a case of spawning the swarm in one location then losing agro and pulling Breeder once it returned to spawn point. Takes a little practice.

Final fight could only get Sir Elmonius Falmont to 70% without help - the clerics were fully drained of mana - thanks those who responded to a call for help in general chat resulting in him dead in under 15 seconds (85 bard 82 ranger + melee DPS merc/healer)

The spawns are "Murkglider Spawn" during the Breeder fight. They seem to be on a timer at about 30ish seconds, as I only got 2 before the Breeder died (94 monk smackdown).

Only up to this point in the 1.5. I did not check anything having to do with the 1.0 or pre-quest. On the Fraga’s Parchement, I have not tried to repeat this part of the quest to have an extra to sell. So this may be dropable but not buyable unless someone stops their epic at this point.

If you go through the barricade of fire thing, you'll aggro a bunch of them. I got two drops off just the ones i aggro'd upon going inside the fire.

double spawn would not affect anything related to epics.
double spawn weekends only affect NPCs that have an invisible flag marking them as a 'rare' npc. players cannot see this flag in any way. they only started flagging things as 'rare' npcs during SoF, and it is pretty much just loot drop named mobs in group content.

so double rare weekends don't affect anything prior to SoF

Reading this, and a couple other walkthroughs, I am curious to know if the entire process is even necessary. It seems to me that you can just kill Sir Elmonious Falmont, loot his symbol, turn it in, and be done. Am I missing something?

1.5+ epics are all character flagged events, so no you can't just kill the last mob and turn in the item, as the NPC will say they have no use for it, as you haven't been flagged for that part yet. This is also why, you can't MQ these quests. And although the write up may seem long, compare it to the 1.0, most of which take about 10 or more pages to print, versus a few for the 1.5s. Also, most 1.5s can be done mostly with a merc at 65 within a day, other than 1 or 2 fights generally, which will require help.

81 SK 1000 aa's with 25k hp 3.8 ac buffed was able to complete all with a T3 merc. The hardest part was getting the Breeder to spawn(took over 40 clears). Was able to handle Breeder and babies with no problem, paladins were super easy (took all 6 at once and never went below 90%), final fight never went below 70% and merc had over 50% of mana left. Getting tailoring over 100 was a pain. No high quality hides were in baz so had to farm them all. Used mandrake root combines to get to 66 then made armour with high quality rhopper and cat hides to get over 100. Took about 6 hours to complete minus Breeder time and getting tailoring up. Good luck!!!!

Ok. So, i just soloed the whole 1.5 epic today for a friend on my 85 necromancer. Was uber easy. Got Murkglider to spawn in 2 hours, pet tanked it and adds, used 3rd spire and Exigency for blood rk2 on it and adds. Downed np. The Fear, Growth, and Nightmare drops were easy. Got each of them on the first kill. Fraga downed with 2 dots and a lifetap. Wailing Sister took 3 dots and a lifetap. The 4 Shadowknights were easy as well, 2 dots and a lifetap on those as well. The paladins i let my pet tank them all, threw 3 dots on each, did fd and they were all dead within a min. Final fight, he resisted all but my fire spells, had pet tank, used pet heals, threw all my fire dots on him, used 3rd spire, exigency, epic clicky, t5 bp clicky, rise of bones and swarm of decay AA. Downed easy. Nothing was too hard at all. Never went below 60% mana on any of the fights. Super easy all in all. Easily done in 1 day.

none of the triggered agro mobs ( the one you have to hail) can be done out of step have to do dialoges to get wailing sister to agro same with sk's although sk's can be done in any order once on that step. in pali ring 3 of them will have blood. also pali blood is not mqable(looted the blood with wrong chr and tried) aside from a bored friend with me for breeder and fraga did enitre quest except for templar with 75sk max defensive aa's and 75 wiz max crit aa's with 2 healer mercs. now its time to try the templar. templar handed me my hind parts after i got him down to 7% merc healers are annoying at times. went back minimal buffs with an 81 mage (thanx again nef) and took him down fairly easy ton of fire resists gl to those trying to get this hope this post helps

shd soloed at lv 80 with 930AA and solteris gear. the last fight took four tries and i had to use every ability available and get my cleric merc on rampage so he wouldn't waste mana on my pet all the time. that rampage switch happened when my first pet died and i was launching the suspended, buffed pet

raising tailoring to 100 was the hardest part of the whole thing -.-

Here are just a few things I recorded during my 1.5. Hope they are helpful.

Murkglider Spawn is the exact name of the 6 mobs that spawn during the breeder fight; the fight is definitely 1 groupable.

The trivial on the Sheath of Darktidings is less than 129.

The four SK's....not exact /loc can be given..they roam around their spawn point. The same is true for the Wailing Sister in PoN

Tarnamil was up at the posted /loc at 7 AM game time

The fight with Sir Elmonious is long, but single groupable. Chest spawned after fight...exact name "a chest"

My group for all of the above encounters....
All of the fights took place on 9/28/08

68 SK...less than 50 AA's
80 SK...1500 + AA's
80 Cleric...1500 + AA's
80 Enchanter...No clue how many AA's

I hope this information is of value to someone.

The Skeleton Tarnamil in Kithicore forest spawns every 15 minutes after the paladins have either been killed or de-pop.

also the paladins are NOT garenteed to have the blood, you may have to kill these more then once to get all your blood samples.

It is very true. Not every paladin drops a blood. I got all my blood samples, but had to kill all the paladins to do so. The last paladin dropped the last blood I needed.

Done yesterday for my twink SK, the hardest part was the RCoD named (Murkglider Breeder) hard either to spawn and to kill, the strat here is right. The easiest part was the 4th sk (Giligatabbus Igglebix) soloed with my SK (12.5k hps and 2800 AC). I done that quest with my main necro and my Sk but the last fight where used a 77 cleric and a friend necro. Now start the 2.0 =)

downed Sir Falmont the other day using this unique combo. 80 shaman 80 monk 78 cleric. monk tanked sad enough i took ramp. very easy fight took maybe 2 minutes.

I believe you can redo the fight. A turn in isn't involved for the final fight, just a Hail. (if I've read it correctly). So if you fail you can do it again, without having to go through the whole thing.

Gilina Yilzior is not a listed NPC for this quest and she is the NPC that the sheathed versions is turned into to get the names of the other Shadowknights who want the sword. She is on the evil side in the tower that goes to the Library, she is on the next level above the library exit in the tower. The very top.

Flopped my way thru the cave on my 67sk. Using invulnurability to get thru the casters helped. These things were soloable; they put up a good fight but nothin worry about if u know what ur doin. 8500hps w/ tenacity and self buffs and it was np np. Was real lucky and got my hide from the second horse on the second spawn.

Just did the Kithicor fight for guildie and the 6 pallys are easy to split apart with a FDer. The Frogloks are snareable, the erudites are mezzable, and the humans are neither. Hope this helps.

This quest was so much easier than 1.0 in my opinion..

The breeder isn't hard at all with right tactics,just get a monk or shadowknight to pull breeder and kite it around til all 6 adds pop, then FD,when she goes back to spawn tag her...thats it..i'd advise bringing a chanter..

the rest of the quest was done with a cleric,war,monk,and myself for rest of fights...didn't even need to slow the 4 sk mobs..

the 6 paladins were a bit tougher seeing as how we wiped on first try,but that was after that...just send pet in, let it get killed, wait til pallys get near u and fd...usually one stays behind and u can tag that one.. i had 1 group for that, 2 clerics,sk,necro,monk,war..

The last fight was easy, took em down with 11 people..mob has lots of Hp, just have back up healers on the side for rest of groups.

New Archfiend now on Nameless server! yeauh!

Head to the Ruined City of Dranik and bring a raid. In the southwest corner of the zone there is a tunnel system, including two rooms full of murkgliders. In the northernmost room, find "a murkglider creeper" or "a murkglider swarmer." If you are lucky, you may be find a Murkglider Breeder at -770, +890, which hits for 900, procs Tentacle Snap, and spawns 6 x level 66 Murkglider Spawn (need exact name) during the fight. The spawn are magic resistant but easily mezzable, and the breeder is possibly one-groupable (need confirmation). Loot A Gelatinous Murkglider Egg (can a chest spawn?). Bring this back to Maelin.

Murkglider Spawn is the exact name of the adds. Confirmed Single groupable by several posts below mine. As confirmed by another post below mine there is no chest for this kill, it's not a final 1.5 Boss.

Added: Also for any SKs doing the 1.5, don't be put off by the high numbers like Fraga's 2.8k Quads And Falmont's 3.5k, with the exception of the Breeder they all have very inconsistent DPS, think of those numbers as worst case scenarios. Our tank of the Falmont Fight (for another SK) reported one of the quads he caught near the end as 791, 2217, 1628, 124 (Non-Defensive).

The main thing, is the adds.
The breeder can only have 6 adds out at one time.
One pops on agro, the rest are every few secs (not hp related)
They corpse camp. If you kill one, it allows another to be popped in it's place.
So, you pop all 6 before the fight, they will stay wherever that may be. AFter about 30 mins, they depop.
Get someone to train the breeder around the zone. CoH them back.
The spawns will stay put, the breeder will go back to spawn.
Track and see how many spawns were popped.
If not 6, do it again.
Then grab breeder and pull to group.

Also, All chests no longer have names. When you target them, they show up as just a HP bar with 100%.

There are flags you need to get before the npc's become killable. Have to do it from the beginning.
OoW quests introduced "hidden flags" that stopped MQ'ing or skipping.

I attempted at pet pulling the paladins - I was FD sent pet in and all the pallys converaged on him as he aggroed and killed him before he even attempted to run back. Is there something im doing wrong? Should I use a lower level pet? Do I need to not be FD? Did they nerf this?

Also I noticed that the pallies kill the zone inhabitants; therefor you could train them to get them to spread out and therefore single pull them.

If you were using the 69 pet, then yes you were doing something wrong. You need to use the 64 pet for pet pulls. When the pet /cons blue to the mobs they will assist and kill it and the level 69 pet is level 60.

I didn't read this anywhere, so I just assumed that after completing the prequest I'd hail Sienn and she'd give me the text. Not so!

She responded with "Don't test my patience. Begone!"

Tried other text to see if I could get her to open up a bit, but got the same response.

After completing the prequest, you have to actually GIVE the fake Innoruuk's Voice to Sienn. Text is as follows:

Sienn Kastane says "What is this?! This sword contains great power! I can feel its hate.' Sienn runs her hand down the flat of the blade and closes her eyes. She appears to have gone into a trance. 'These are the times of prophecy when gods fall silent and a champion of evil must be found. The very existence of a shadowknight may become yet a legend if this champion is not found.' Sienn opens her eyes. 'I believe you are to become that champion. Your first task is to find a tome. The sword has told me of a tome that details its history. I do not know where this tome might be, but I suggest you talk to Grand Librarian Maelin here in the Plane of Knowledge. He may have more information on this tome. When you find it, return it to me.'

After reading the text from Ritald closer, however, he does say to TAKE it to Sienn which I guess would mean that you're supposed to give it to her. But, to anyone with a similar plight in the future, here's your reference. :)

in TD pos 5349 neg 1279 (2nd island on top of the map)
in OOT neg 3656 neg 1036 (Island in the middle area of zone towards bottom of the map)
in Swamp of no hope pos 289 pos 545 (middle of zone)
in Iceclad pos 1303 neg 2726 (on map there is an area thats shaped like a tear drop on the map, go all the way to the smallest end of the tear and he is there).
With all of these mobs they wander around but if you sit at these spots they will path to you. I hope this all makes sence to the readers I am pretty tired.

locs are right on all but Swamp of no Hope, loc is roughly pos 289 neg 550. He might path to other spot, but i never saw him.

More SK info. All but Iceclad spawn are Partially Slowable, unsnareable, summon, and enrage.

Not sure about Iceclad spawn, I just solo kited that lil joke of an SK.

IMHO, I think it would've been even cooler if the weapons were more class geared. EX:
Bard - Instument (actual one, that looks like one)

Beastlord - Something to make pet cooler and stronger, like vah shir get cooler looking tiger, barbarians get falcons, something like that

Berzerker - big ass axe was right idea

Cleric - Shield was awesome idea

Druid - I expected a scimitar, but staff was cool

Enchanter - I swear they stole my idea

Mage - Cooler looking pets, staff was cool

Monk - like idea

Necro - AWESOME

I agree.... all of the existing 2.0 epics are better... maybe his SK epic is better cuz of harm touch proc.... but still... get a friend dude/dudette...
