After completing the Initiate Symbol of Brell quest:

You say, 'What about my next task?'

Bronlor Lightblade says, 'Ah ye are ready fer yer task are ya ______. I must say dat I am quite impressed with the excellent job dat ya did taking care of those strong goblins. Ok well ye came for yer task so here it tis. I need to get this note to me friend Taldrik, however he has told me that he was heading to the Oasis in the Southern Desert of Ro. That place is the finest in Norrath for sum relaxin time. Although I would love to go myself but I'm afraid I hab many duties to uphold here. Will you [deliver] my not to Taldrik?'

You say, 'I will deliver the note.'

Bronlor Lightblade says, 'Fantastic ______! I knew that ye would be able to help me. Please take this note to Taldrik, whereber he may be and be sure to give him his favorite [drinks] or he may be very grumpy.'

You receive A Note to Taldrik.

You say, 'What drinks?'

Bronlor Lightblade says 'Oh yes of course. Taldrik's favorites if I can remember correctly be Elven wine, Freeport stout and of course Dwarven ale! Bring these drinks to him with your note and after ye tell him you are sent from muh to continue your training i'm shure he will warm up to ye fer sure.'

You give Taldrik the Freeport Stout, Elven Wine, and Dwarven Ale.

Taldrik Stumpystout says 'Ah ha! So ye are Bronlor's chosen aye? Well den these fine brews can only mean one thing! Yep its dat youre a drinker like meh! Arg, if I only had me recipe.'

You gain experience!!

You say, 'What recipe?'

Taldrik Stumpystout says 'Well ya see lad I had an ancient recipe passed down to me that told one how to create the holiest of ale. Its far gone now, however I recently had a vision of the ingredients and where they might be found. Do you wish to seek out the components for me?'

You say, 'I will seek the components.'

Taldrik Stumpystout says 'Excellent lad! Let meh see here if I can remember correctly. I know that you need to Preserved hops and a Battleworn canteen. I know that these were carried by my good friend Torklar back when I was still a young lad in training like you. However one day he adventured to an undead estate with a friend of his that was a very skilled brewer. I believe they went there in search of some ingredients they needed for a recipe however neither of them ever returned. But before you go any further I must tell ye that you will need a specific kind of cask to combine these items in.'

You say, 'What cask?'

Taldrik Stumpystout says 'Why a holy cask is what ye will need of course! Find the ingredients that I asked you for before and combine them within this holy cask along with barley from the forests of Kithicor and water summoned from none other than yourself. After doing this if the gods have smiled upon you a thick and hearty keg of Brells Blessed Stout will be created. Give this to me along with a Rat sandwich to enjoy while I sip the finest of ales as well as your Initiate symbol that you carry now and I will be sure to reward you.'

You receive a Holy Cask. Combine the items in the cask to craft A Keg of Brells Blessed Stout. Give him A Keg of Brells Blessed Stout, a Rat Sandwich, and your Initiate Symbol of Brell Serilis.

Taldrik Stumpystout says 'Ye are a true Priest of Brell Serillis! And ye make me both proud and happy to have met ye so that I could enjoy this sweet drink once again! Please take this Initiate Symbol of Brell Serillis which will I have crafted to enable you to turn water into this blessed ale for you have truly earned it!'

You gain experience!!

You receive Disciple Symbol of Brell Serilis.

There are corresponding quests and neckpieces for some races, but not all...and there are varying upgrades to them. Some races only have one, some two, and a couple as I recall, have three total quests & neckpieces. They also have different click effects, and stat mods, and their usefulness varies as well. They've been in game for a LONG time, however, not too many people either know about them, or pursue them anymore.

The walkthrough posted by delingswiftbow is totally correct but you DON'T need to give the three wines and the note to Stumpystout. Just go up to him and say 'what cask?' and he'll give it to you. Then combine the listed items in the cask and give him the cask, the initiate symbol and the rat sandwich and you're done.

Also, the rat sandwich is not no-fail but it's close. At 0 baking skill I tried 5 combines and succeeded 4 times. I got the Rat Meat killing large rats in East Freeport newbie area, and bought Loaf of Bread from Culkin Ironstove in PoK. Just use Find, she's under Baking Supplies. There's an oven inside the building she's standing next to.
How To
# Oct 20 2003 at 8:04 PM Rating: Decent
Ok here's how to do this quest:
1) After completeing the Brell Serilis initiate quest go to Bronlor Lightblade in the Warrior's guild in South Kaladim. WITHOUT HAILING HIM ask "what about my next task?" Now asy " I will deliver it" and he will give you a note.
2) IN butcherblock ask a few high lvl cleric's or paladin's(there kill undead best) and head to Unrest. Kill the undead brewer who spawns in the back of the first level of the house in unrest. He always drops preserved hops. Now go to the dinning room on the first level and head to the back of the room oposite of the stairs, and take a right. HE should be in the room of t the side on your left. Kill him and loot his battle worn caanteen.
3) Now head to Freeport and buy(all can be bought near freeport docks):
Elven wine
dwarven ale
freeport stout
Also buy some bread and ray meat.If you cant find te rat meat just kill some rats.
4) Go to kithicor Forest and near the entrance to Western Common lands there are 2 buildings. One of them sells Forest barley. His name is Cloem Walker. Now go back to Freeport and combine the Rat meat and bread in an oven. I did this with no skill in baking on my first try.
5) Head south through North Ro and into the Oasis. Talk to Taldrik Stumpystou who spawns in the south western corner. Aproximate loc: -1800, 1340. Give him the 3 drinks and the note. Now ask him about a cask. i said " what about a cask" and he will give you a special cask. In the cask combine the: perserved hops, Canteen, The barley, and a summoned water, which you can summon your self. Now give Taldrik the cask, the sandwhich, and your Initiate symbol of Brell Serilis. WOOT! now you have a DESCIPLE SYMBOL OF BRELL SERILIS. GRATZ!

I finished this quest and proceeded to whip my Alcohol Tolerance up to my cap at 90. As for the effects, at the max the game would let me imbibe:

STR +10
STA +10
DEX -10
AGI -10
WIS -100
INT -48
AC -185
Attack -164

The actual drop in AC and Attack was greater, I just didn't notice it until I was already recovering.

Buff in a Bottle? I don't think so. I only see this of use in creating some newbie contests.

Just ask Taldrik Stumpystout "What cask?" and combind them, you don't need to give him the note or the FP stout, or Dwarven/Elven Ales. I have done the quest without giving them to him.

Having a slight problem finding the Forest Barley in Kithicor Forest. Before searching here for the answer I searched high and low at every merchant on EQ Atlas' map. After checking here and returning to the hut where the merchant is suppose to be (practically in front of you as you zone in from WC), there is only 1 merchant, not two as previously posted. I assume the merchant has either run off with my barley to another spot in the zone, or has despawned. Gonna throw a /petition at the GMs and see if they can repop the merchant or tell me that I'm simply overlooking her/him. Quite disappointed as I've been looking forward to completing this for some time...

One side note. I am mulitquesting and I would have to agree that even if I wasn't, I'd do the Initiate over again just for the strengthen. As there are a lot of shamans, druids, enchanters, etc. out there to group with, you won't always have one ready to give you a buff. And its always great when you seem to overburden yourself with worthless junk and need a little muscle to carry your trash to the bank.... ;)

As I was about to reply with a negative comment about my luck, having talked to the Guide and been given the news that without a name of the merchant she was unable to help, I just logged on and found said merchant waiting for my pp. Clomen Walker. I suppose it just goes to show that every bit of information given can be valuable to someone, somewhere. Well, off to finish a quest, and maybe have a drink or two...

The Quest Complete
# Jun 15 2002 at 5:52 PM Rating: Good
Ok heres the quest in a over sized nut.

Talk to Bronlor Lightsaber in South Kaladim. Hes at teh warrior guild at the loc -90 +422 in a room by himslef. he will inform you to get 4 enraged goblin beads. Go outside to Butcher Block to the loc -300 +1100 to find 3 goblins in a corner by themselves. They are green and the grass is green so make sure you look closely, i almost missed them. At level 46 they didnt argo so i just nuked 1, 2, 3 and got 3 beads. took 25 minutes or so for them to re-pop. kill 1 mroe an loot beads, back to Bronlor Lightsaber and give him the beads, he will give you the Intiate Symbol.

I forget what you say but ask him about your next task and them say "deliver" to get the note to Taldrik Stumpystout and he will tell you to deliver the note and 3 drinks (Dwarven Ale, Freeport Stout, and Elven Wine) which can all be found at or near the EFP docks (info later)

(this is step is out of order of the actual quest but faster) Goto Dagnors Cauldron and follow the right wall till you find unrest. On the bottom floor there is an undead brewer. kill him or ask someone to do it to loot preserved hops and kill Torklar Battlemaster (who is also located on bottom floor) and loot the canteen.

Now take a boat or snag a port to east FP. (if you take a port to WC goto Kithicor first and get the barley, location later)In east FP goto the docks and go inside the house after the house you go thru to get on docks. There they should sell the Dwarven Ale and Elven Wine. Then go back off the docks and take a left. Take another left right before the Soul Binder to see yourself facing Grub and Grog Tavern. Inside goto the merchat Jaleel Huglomp and buy FP stout. Now kill some rats and buy some bread from a tavern vendor and find an oven (one located near bank in NFP) or buy a spit. Make a rat ear sandwich and make sure you place it AFTER your food in your inventory so you dont eat it. Now goto WC and in the North Western corner (i think) is the zone to kithicor. its ok to zone in at night just be quick and alert of where things are. The house right at the zone line there are 2 vendors and inside and 1 sales the barley. Buy and head to Oasis. Goto the Southwest corner and Taldrik should be at the loc -1800, 1340 or close by. Give him the note and the 3 drinks. Now ask him "what cask" and he gives you a cask. Stick barly, hops, canteen, and 1 summoned water (summon yourself or have someone do it) and combine. Now give him cask back with your rat sandwich and your initiate symbol and bang, you got yourself disiple symbol.

At level 46 i got 20 beers with 1 summoned water. Make sure you give a stack to everyone in the zone and get drunk as heck!

quest broken?
# May 12 2002 at 3:32 AM Rating: Decent
I was helping a friend do this quest, and went looking to find Taldrik in Oasis on Monday, May 6, 2002. I found him on the dune, talked to him, got the cask. I stopped tracking him at 13:46:27.
I took my friend back several times over the course of the next few days, and have not seen him since. Plus he does not show up on track. I just finished checking him again, on Saturday, May 11 at about 11:30pm..he's still not there. As per suggestion, I turned in a bug report.
This is very disappointing, my friend was planning a special party for another friend, and this puts a real crimp in the plans.

Is this quest broke? Been looking for this guy for 4 days now, and he is no where to be found in Oasis. Did he move to another zone or something? Does he have a place-holder. Do you have to say something or do some to make him spawn?
Thanks for any help
RE: Where did he go?
# May 11 2002 at 8:40 PM Rating: Default
I've been looking for him too. I've been checking the flat section of the dune near the Derv camp, where he is supposed to be, and found nothing. I've got all the items but can't turn them in. I've reported it as a bug twice, but it hasn't been corrected in any patch. My suggestion is to just report it as a /bug and hopefully the more ppl that report it the more likely it will get taken care of (hopefully).

I am on Druzzil Ro Server. It is now Tuesday May 14th. upon not finding him this past Friday I sent a bug report. A guildie friend told me that npc's take 3 days to spawn after a patch. The Oasis zone was also repopped Friday i think it was because of the boats not working again issue. I have been to Oasis everyday since then and no Taldric. even got a few people to track him. I just came from there and still no Taldric. I sent a petition whilst there today. Got a response about 40 minutes later. They said "we are not aware of any problem." HA. I didnt know i was not the only one to have reported it either. I am not pleased. Been looking foreward to this quest since I got the initiate symbol. I even have all the items to do the quest. Just now I travelled back to kali to destroy the note to taldric and get it again from Bronlor. I'm sure it will do me no good. :( So as of right now, this quest is broken...

Using most of the tips here I did it the other night at lvl 19 "What next task" is the trigger. I have been grouping in unrest for the last few levels and have been lucky enough to catch Torklar and the Brewer after they have been slapped around a bit and we have bought them both down a couple of times. The rat meat sandwich gave me no trouble at all, I made a couple just to make sure only failed once with no baking skill. The booze, as mentioned elsewhere, you can buy at the Inn to the left of the Pier in Freeport and at the Inn to the left just before you leave East Freeport to the South. The only Prob I had was the Forest Barley, should've read all the posts :) Yes it's the first building in Kithicor Forest on the Right hand side coming from West Commons. Tip, for those of my short bretheren who are not widely travelled DON'T GO IN TO KITHICOR FOREST AT NIGHT, I did this once at about lvl 14, it was very quick......

I tried "I am ready to become a warden of brell serilis" and nothing happened. I tried this message with both the guy in Kaladim and the guy in Oasis. This is the line that Tunare followers use to get their third symbol. Doesn't work for us Brell people. Anyone have any progress with finding the 3rd symbol (warden)???

The third Innoruuk Symbol is called the Regent symbol of Innoruuk. Likewise, the third Quellious symbol is also called a Regent symbol, so the third Brell symbol may not be Warden (If they've even put a third in the game yet).
