Faction Information
# Jul 01 2002 at 12:20 PM Rating: Good
Although I know there are better boots out there, I am doing this quest for the fun of it. However, I have discovered something in the process. You have to con amiably to Lord Searfire to get the cauldron. Indifferently won't work. So, I am killing Shadowed Men to raise Solusek Ro faction. Also, you need the same type of faction with the Priestess in the Kaladim Cleric's Guild. The only way I remember to raise faction with Kaladim Citizens is to free Dwarf slaves in Crushbone.

For the trouble you have to go through, I will stick with Dwarven Work Boots, I dont too much care about 1 less AC, I have a pile of AC jewelry anyway.

Yeah, I forgot about the STA-->HP thing at the time, oops! I was just thinking about the Ranger spell Invigor, which keeps your STA bar from dropping, oh well. /shrug
I got my DWB now, and will most likely stick with them, I like the DEX. Good stuff.
RE: These are crap
# Jul 09 2002 at 4:26 PM Rating: Excellent
These aren't crap really. STA is a needed stat, because sta = hp. HP > Ac. BTW, DWBs have two less ac, not one.

LOL - found them on a merchant in Neriak for 36 plat (think someone was clearing out a character - found Ulthork hide arms and Woe on same merchant) - gotta descide now whether to sell them or hold onto them in case I want to do a ranger at some point.

Hope you got the Rabbit Hide Boots...

The Rabbit Hide Boots (or Rabbit fur...not sure atm cause i onlt have one com and can't look at them while writing this)that dropped at the "GM" Events starting this past Halloween are Far better than these. If you're a ranger and had your character to at least level 10 when the events happened you can easily get these. My ranger is only level 12 and he managed to pick up the Collar, Cloak, Boots, Hat, and Earring. From what i hear the Belt, Veil and Arms were only dropping from the higher ones in WC, EK, and N Ro so i didn't get to get those...but i hope that all of you done the same as i did and picked up the Rabbit boots along with the other stuff, all you needed to be was a good navigator...everyone else done the work for ya ; )

May Tunare Lead You To Grobb...

The Rabbit Hide Boots aren't bad at all, except for one slight detail... their AC. 5, to be exact. YUCK. For that reason alone, there's just no way I could convince myself to wear those instead of my Ivy Boots. Rangers die enough as it is.

I'll take that 5-point stamina boost over the +4 to dexterity, wisdom, and agility any day. That's what Forest Loops are for. A lot of people still don't know that if your stamina is 100 or higher, you won't suffer stat loss when your yellow stamina bar is depleted, and you can run at full speed. The only thing you can't do is jump.

Man your nuts. 5 sta? Over dex/agi/wis? Maybe at lev 20 the ivy is better but not after that. Sta is way to easy to get of 100. Mine is 117 and I never tried to raise it. Sta is on so many items it will go up over 100 without trying. Dex and Wis on the other hand are always desired as a Ranger.

Oh ya, forgot to mention, I DIDN'T DIE while getting all the items =D All i did was keep the BR on track at all times and be where he wasn't.
Sufficient lvl

I'm a level 22 ranger and I have done all but the legging and glove quests. They aren't terribly hard so at level 46 you should be able to breeze right through them! They just require time, luck, and quite a bit of platinum (seriously why do you need to buy gems for a quested item?). Of course at lower levels you need much more luck! Most of the items used in these quests (most quests really) are no drop and worthless to those not doing the quests. The Rune of Ivy is often left to rot when people hunt Thistle Underbrush for his forest loop. Just ask nicely and most people will be more than happy to let you loot quest items if they don't need them. Be safe and may Tunare guide your on you journeys.

very nice

I think this is the only piece of ivy etched I like. I usually wear ry'gor stuff..why? because the stats are better and it looks very nice. Oh and there aren't no ry'gor feet piece either =P. The 5sta is great because my woodelf starting sta was low..75 to be exact. Newaz every melee stat is important for a ranger (str, sta, dex, and agil) Oh and the 10ac is hard to find in a pair of boots.
RE: very nice
# Nov 05 2001 at 12:12 PM Rating: Default
These are definitely good boots for stamina-starved rangers such as my alt. But if you want a pair of boots with the Ry'Gorr texture, consider Sentry Boots. Stats are 13ac, 2agi and 3sta (maybe 3agi and 2sta, /shrug) and a couple of minor saves. Any class that can wear banded can wear Sentry. And they're not THAT expensive; I've bought them for as low as 250, but even 500 would be a good value.
hehe
