The Wakening Land is a large forested valley on this otherwise frozen continent. The goddess Tunare has a very palpable presence here, and is the reason that the area is so full of life. The storm giants of Kael Drakkal attempt to push back at the forest, but the Tunarian Residents and Claws of Veeshan have forged a passive alliance to fight their common enemy.

Just camp and sign out. Go back in and return home on the opening screen. Thats one simple way. Another, carry a gate potion which can be bought for about 200p in the bazaar.

I hear something about the zone out being near Tunare's spawn, around/inside a tree or such to that extent

Yes it is around the tree, can see it on the map if it's zoomed in, but kinda hard to locate.

Anyone want to group of have advice?
# Oct 09 2003 at 5:01 PM Rating: Decent
After spending an hour or two trying to get the WL I finally managed to get through Kael the giants con threateningly to me, as I do not think I have ever killed one. Problem is when I got here there was NO one to group with and being a 46 chanter and not knowing the zone at all, I was hesitant to try to solo. Are there are Solo suggestions or strategies or would someone like to help me find some spells on the Veeshan server. They sell for many plat. Please send tells to Oceana Pacifica I am usually on between 7:30 central and 10pm.

Thanks,

Oceana

Ok, I found the Tigerraptors neat the sky zone and have been hunting those and a few of the other creatures in the area. Not one spell dropped. This is a lonely zone and I do not much care for soloing. Does anyone know what creatures drop the Wandering Mind Spell? Also in the long run I am better off hunting the giants and building Sky shrine fraction or hunting Sky and building Giant fraction?

Revolution of the Fauns?
# Dec 13 2002 at 12:36 PM Rating: Decent
The are now Outcast Fauns in the Wakening Land. Since I'm a little behind on Faun politics (they don't publish a newspaper like city-dwelling races do), I haven't confirmed yet that they're enemies of the Tunareans led by Shamus. I plan to do some investigating this evening on their faction. I'll report back when I learn something solid.

A Faun Outcast
Cons dark blue at level 51, estimated level around 40.
Rogue - backstabs.
No faction hits.
I've seen one drop a lute - just a plain old lute.
Resist magic pretty readily, at about the same rate as the bigger haze panthers. I landed spells, but about one out of two or three would be resisted.
They recite the same little rhyme as the corrupted faun when they attack. Apparently they, too, are the result of Innoruuk's Corruptor of Life from the Plane of Hate.

Hi all,
Factions on this continent are confusing and I'm wondering how I can tell if it's safe for me to port here or whether wuoshi is going to have me for breakfast. I've been killing coldain to raise kromrif/kromzek faction because I would like to try some of the kael armor quests eventually. Coldains now con ready to attack and the giants con threateningly. I've also been killing tons of ulthork and walruses to raise faction with othmir so that I can go to CS and turn in my ulthork tusks. Are any of these factions going to help/hurt me in WL? I can try to run through Kael but invis seems to have a habit of dropping at the worst times so I thought porting might be safer. Thanks in advance for clearing up some of the faction confusion.

Wuoshi is on Claws of Veeshan (Skyshrine dragon) faction. Everyone begins KOS to them, so if Wuoshi is up, he will make very short work of you.

You can improve CoV faction by killing giants, especially in Kael. But that's what you've decided you don't want to do.

Under those circumstances, your best move will be to keep on killing dwarfs, to continue to raise your faction in Kael. Soon you'll be able to move around safely there: and you'll also be able to begin to do faction quests in Kael, to raise your faction still more, which you'll need to do if you want to get the armors there.

Thanks for the advice! It has worked quite well. I can go wherever I want to in Kael now, so getting to WL is no problem, and I'm well on my way to getting some nice armor.

There seems to me to be no so-called "hot spot" to find them - they are an occiasional ground spawn and can be foraged at a high skill level (rarely) - as they are used in several of the velious armours they can go for a lot of cash so if you are hunting in this zone and come across a few - keep em. Go check your local message board for your server or the main EQ Traders website and get the names of the high lvl tailors on your server, or anyone else posting there and bargain for em - on Tholuxe Paells i'll pay at least 50pp maybe 100pp if I have the cash for each one.....

Foraging
# Sep 01 2002 at 3:33 PM Rating: Decent
I have never been to this zone, but I'd like to make a few foraging suggestions. It sounds like Yew Leaves are similar to Misty Acorns in appearance. A slightly shinier spot on the ground. Look down just slightly (2 bumps) as you move through the zone and you are more likely to see them.

Also, when camping spawn and medding, I forage. If I get anything and am well situated (safe), I don't move from that spot. Just stand up occasionally and forage again. It is like certain spots are loaded or something. You won't always get the same foraged item. Veggies, plains pebbles, rabbit meat, etc. all come from the same spot.

Hope that helps someone.

You will be kos here to Giants but the fairies, fauns, sylphans(sp?) will be indiff or better to you being a druid.

Only a few mobs in zone are on dragon faction, Rolandol, easy way to check dragon faction is to zone into skyshrine and con the sentries.

Anyway, you should do fine here, lots of stuff to hunt, some decent drops, and you can work on dragon faction by killing giants if you want.

The druid spells are sold near the entrance to PoG, which is in the center of zone in the middle of a lake. No evil roamers near there, but you need good tree-hugger faction, which you should have.
Yew Leaves

Normally I have found the Yew leaves on the ground...just running around camo and wolf form and spot a small green patch unlike the rest of the ground. Yesterday, I foraged a yew leaf (skill 198) and then soon after found one on the ground..both the same thing. So, get the forage up and get one that way now and again.

Hey all,

Made a mistake and misjudged faction at the Druid portal. Thought I had killed enough frost giants and dire wolves to gate in safely since I am now amiable to the coldain dwarves...wrong..hehe.

How do I get my corpse out. Can someone else with the proper faction port us into the druid ring using the Circle spell with me inviz or does the dragon see through inviz?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If your server is anything like Tholuxe Paells, Wuoshi won't be up for long at all before some guild or other decides that it's time for a dragon bashing. Barbaric. Well, anyway, if you're slain by the big green fellow, it won't be long 'til he's gone, and he won't come back for a long time once he's been downed. With all the hunting I've done here, I've only seen Wuoshi once, and it was only minutes after the server came up from a patch. I doubt that he stood for more than an hour before he was mobbed by treasure seekers.

If it's been a while since you were killed, try playing with the /who function. Try /who all ranger 45 55 to try to locate someone hunting in the Wakening Land. If it's peak time and a ton of rangers are on, you might have to break the levels down a bit more and try in smaller level ranges to avoid overflow on results returned. Also try bards and druids, since what you need is someone in Wakening Lands with the track skill. Not many people generally hunt here, so you may have hunt a bit yourself to locate one. When you do, a friendly tell can inform you if Wuoshi's up or not. I regularly receive inquiries like this while hunting there.

# Feb 07 2002 at 1:04 PM Rating: Decent
Can a 51 ranger teleport here safely?

I have no faction except my original unmodifed vellious factions. I migth have a slighty increased Thurgadin faction, can't remember?

I want to go with a friend (53 druid) to do the shackles quest but am unsure about whether or not Wuoschi (sp?) will kill me as soon as I pop at the rings?

I really don't want to run through Kael :( Invis has a nasty habit of popping at the worst time.

If I can't hunt with the druid can a 51 ranger solo the holgresh's and the other thingys (wyverns) for the quest? I have FR gear to upwards of 140 fire resist if necessary.

I started here 4 days ago at level 39. Yook a while to increase dragon faction to dubious to not worry about the dragons that wander around but as i have been traveling in these woods, i have yet to encounter one. I can solo the raptors rather safley one at a time but not the bigger tigesaruses. I found a nice spot by skyshrine the spawn at and u can fight safley if you poull them away from each other using harmony. At your level you won't need to .The holgreshes i cannottake solo as they are casters and would decimate me. I am no level 40 and have the guts and a few hides for armor tries but have yet ben able to get anyone to help me take holgreshes on. U can port in relativly safley just keep invis up..and why worry about running through kael if you have a druid...supieror camo i thought is a duration not random time spell...at your level i would think most things in wakenings would be green to you or atleast light blue

Good luck

As a 44th Ranger of Tunare I was hoping to get some nice solo exp here by fear kiting Raptors...would that be difficult due to the fact they already run like they are SOWed? And are there alot of them in a small area that might cause me to aggro a bunch of em?

I figure this to be a good place for me to go since I would like to get the raptor guts for the ice shackle quest...

Raptors should be good experience for a solitary ranger in most of his 40's. Even in the high 30's you could manage a few tigeraptors. By the time these start to con light blue, you can switch up to the tougher but less common tigesauruses for better experience. I'd recommend that you don't tangle with Rapticor until your high 40's. At 51, a handful of tigesauruses remain dark blue cons, making for nice fast experience here and there.

Hunt at the Skyshrine zone. There are 3 static spawns on the wall very nearby (pull these ones with harmony), and many more raptors roaming the woods nearby, making for good pulling, but they won't ever wander in on you unannounced. But if things ever go bad, you can be out of the zone in a flash. This is one of the safest places to hunt in all of the Wakening Land.

Raptors run fast, but with SoW you'll stay one step ahead of them. While it might sound daunting before you've hunted them, their high speed actually works to your advantage in a couple of ways:

1. If you get an unwanted add, you can throw panic animal at it. Unlike slower animals who'll come back when the panic fades, raptors will often be *just* far enough away that they won't come back.

2. When the raptors are getting to be mostly light blue cons but you want to focus on dark blues for better experience, long-distance pulling is a breeze. From the Skyshrine zone tunnel, scan track by distance and find the nearest dark blue raptor. Run out and nail it with an arrow. Run all the way back to the safe hunting spot by Skyshrine (or others that you'll discover). Whereas many animals will fall behind you, the raptor will be just far enough out for you to land a snare, put one last arrow in it and get panic animal going before it reaches you.

And you will *always* want to fearkite these buggers and every animal you ever meet, even after they're green cons to you. There may be some misconceptions by non-rangers about our ability to stand up to damage, but it's always more efficient to sink a few points of mana into keeping an animal feared while you fight it, than to burn half your mana or more healing yourself afterwards.

Hunt here for just a short while, and you'll have your raptor gut for the ice forged shackles quest. For the Holgresh part, though, plan to bring a full group if you're in your 40's, and expect an extended hunt before you find your stick.
RE: killing Raptors
# Jan 27 2002 at 6:02 AM Rating: Decent
At level 44, decently equipped, you won't need to fear kite the raptors. Some will be green though. I'm quadding em at 43 (druid). Brought my guild leader (39ranger) and he was meleein' em with me doin' maybe 2 or 3 gh's for 270 per double pull. The tigesaurus(sp?) will be hard though. They have a ton of hitpoints. Pulls can be done easily with harmony, but we were pulling two so they could smash themselves against my DS, hehe.
Tailoring and yew leaves
# Jul 16 2001 at 2:58 PM Rating: Default
If someone when to the (HELL) it would take to get a stack of yew leaves how much do you think you should sell them for?

What level skill do need in tailoring to start trying to make the cool item like Haze pather, and other stuff
RE: Tailoring and yew leaves
# Jul 30 2001 at 3:47 PM Rating: Good
Othmir, wyvern, panther, velium hound (is that all of 'em), I heard trivial out above 250. I'm not sure how solid that number is as there can't be too many tailors with 250 skill.

If you really work it, it'll take you about a month to raise tailoring to 158 (where wu's armour tops out). This is the easy part, you'll go through hundreds of silk swatches (at least 500), probably 100 med quality pelts, probably 200 high quality pelts, and about 300 bottles of viscous mana, oh, and some studs and boning (if you go that route). And, even if you can afford to spend alot of coin for this stuff (like I was able to), you'll still collect probably at least half of it yourself. You'll probably spend 5k or more if you buy some of the stuff, and if you don't have an enchanter offering to donate their time just to make the VM's for cost (130pp per stack).

Then the fun starts. Among the ingredients for the cool armour, is either velium studs or velium boning. Each attempt to make velium boning is a min. of 26pp, and studs are more. And how many studs or boning is determined by the size of the piece you're making.
I recently traded my leftover tailoring stuff from making wu's (approx 1400pp) for 11 yew tanins. Now, I was trading to a friend of mine, but, I don't think 100pp per tanin would be too out of line (less for the leaves probably, as you do fail the brewing).

Yew Leafs
# Jul 15 2001 at 3:14 PM Rating: Good
I've been taking my druid to WL to hunt black panthers for the Black Panther velious tailoring armor. I've killed a bunch of panthers and gathered enough skins to make 3 sets of armor, but i still need to find a bunch of yew leaves.

They are small yellow triangular shapes that you pick up off the ground. They look very similar to the ground itself, so it's sometimes hard to spot them.

I was wondering if anyone has been able to find a so called HOT SPOT for these leaves, where they would spawn more often or in more quantity then other sites

With Wuoshi, Giants, and all sorts of annoying crap wandering the zone, it's very hard to just walk around and look for leaves on the ground. Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated.
