At the close of Chesgard's previous quest, Temple Blankets, Tukk mentions that Chesgard offers a bounty for bandit sashes.

You say, 'What Karana bandits?'

Chesgard Sydwen says 'In the Plains of Karana can be found the [Karana bandits]. They plague our followers and dare to use the name of the Rainkeeper as a title. For this, Karana commands their deaths. I have a bounty for every returned bandit sash, collectible by members only. For clerics, Gehna has a bounty on binder spectacles.'

Upon hand-in of a Bandit Sash:

Chesgard Sydwen says 'Good work, knight! The Karana bandits have been plaguing the Rainkeeper's flock for some time. Take this as a small reward for your devotion. Continue the fight against the Karana bandits. Ahh.. I wish [Cheslin] were equally skilled.'

Your faction standing with Knights of Thunder got better.
Your faction standing with Bloodsabers got worse.
Your faction standing with Priests of Life got better.
Your faction standing with Guards of Qeynos got better.
You gain experience!!
You receive 2 silver from Chesgard Sydwen.
You receive 8 gold from Chesgard Sydwen.

You also receive a random bronze weapon or Round Shield.

I just have to say that I hunted the bandit camps in West Karana and my ratio was almost 50/50 in getting the sashes. I got at least 1 out of all the bandit camps in WK. Just my 2cp

Bandits in West Karana (start at Innkeep Dunin as a reference) located at:

-1061.63, -11939.88, +328.52
-650.29, -13799.14, +241.31
+769.__, -11603.42, +5.21

Factions from killing the bandits/raiders/brigands in the Karanas:

Karana Bandits - lowered
Karana Residents - raised
Guards of Qeynos - raised
Highpass Guards - raised
Circle of Unseen Hands - raised (yes, that IS correct)

--------------

DAY ONE:

Didn't speak with him, just handed him the sashes...

As a level 45 Human Druid of Tunare, I conned Apprehensive.

Handed him 1 sash and got hit with a gas cloud that took me down to about 60% HP (started at 2566 HP), but received gold and silver coin and a random bronze weapon, faction, and xp... and went up to Indifferent. The gas cloud lasts about 45 seconds. Counteract Disease cannot remove the gas cloud.

Healed myself and handed in another... got the xp and faction, etc. but he hit me with another gas cloud. Took me down to 60% HP again.

Healed myself AGAIN. Same thing the 3rd time... 4th time... 5th time... 6th time... 7th time... etc.

I handed in 21 sashes and got hit with a gas cloud EVERY SINGLE TIME.

1 sash = Indifferent

7 sashes = Amiable

After all 21 sashes, still = Amiable

I'm going to get more sashes and try handing in more to see how it goes.

DAY TWO:

Handed in 21 more sashes, and didn't get hit with the gas cloud. I imagine once I hit Indifferent, I should have left and come back later so I didn't get hit.

My faction started at Amiable, and went up as follows:

8 sashes = kindly

12 sashes = warmly

1 more sash, still = warmly

Got the Temple Blankets Quest... all I said was "I am a member of Thunder" didn't go through anything else

Bandit Sashes Quest Line (Chesgard Sydwen mainly)
# Jan 22 2006 at 3:52 AM Rating: Good
You say, 'Hail, Chesgard Sydwen'

Chesgard Sydwen says, 'May Karana guide you. Are you a [citizen of Qeynos] or a visitor?

Citizen version:

You say, 'I am a citizen of Qeynos'

Chesgard Sydwen says, 'Then I would urge you to attend daily services in the Temple of Thunder. You are a [member of Thunder], are you not? Or maybe I am mistaken and you are just lost..?'

You say, 'I am a member of Thunder'(same response if you say I am not or I am)

Chesgard Sydwen says, 'Well, friend, the Temple of Thunder has recognized and appreciates your past deeds for us. But this matter is of vital importance to us and we need more proof of your devotion to our cause.'

Non Citizen version:

You say, 'I am not a Citizen of Qeynos' (same dialogue as a citizen)

You say, 'I am lost'

Chesgard Sydwen says, 'Then study and spread the words of Karana the Rainkeeper. May all the storms in your heart be controlled by the Rainkeeper. You are young to the world just as [Cheslin] is.'

You say, 'Who is Cheslin?'

Chesgard Sydwen says, 'My son, Cheslin, is currently in training to be a Qeynos Guard. I fear it was not his calling. He is not quite in our realm of reality. He spent too many years of playing games of warriors and dragons. He will be doing his first patrols in Qeynos Hills this week. If you are near there, I would appreciate it if you would watch and see him safely through his first patrols. Tell him I sent you.'

This is everything he told me so far.

Turn in sashes at this point.

Chesgard Sydwen says, 'Good work, knight! The Karana bandits have been plaguing the Rainkeeper's flock for some time. Take this as a small reward for your devotion. Continue the fight against the Karana bandits. Ahh.. I wish [Cheslin] were equally skilled.' (same as above about cheslin)
Your faction standing with Knights of Thunder got better.
Your faction standing with Bloodsabers got worse.
Your faction standing with Priests of Life got better.
Your faction standing with Guards of Qeynos got better.
You gain experience!!
You receive 12 silver from Chesgard Sydwen.
You receive 10 gold from Chesgard Sydwen.
(This amount varies, but is generally the same)

The items I received:(These vary also, random item)(Turned around and sold these items to the guy right next to him and made about 100plat)
Bronze Warhammer.
Bronze Warclub.
Round Shield.
Bronze Mace.

7 turn ins took me from indifferent to amiable.
9 more got me to kindly. (total 16).
20 more got me to warmly. (total 36).
Gave 7 more still warmly. (total 43).

Now back to dialogue:
After I got to warmly.

You say, 'I am a member of Thunder.'

Chesgard Sydwen says, 'I welcome you. Karana cares for all His flock. He bestows a touch of His power upon the souls of the Clerics and Paladins of our temple. We look after His flock. Speaking of which, I require the assistance of a young paladin to [deliver provisions to needy members].'

You say, 'I will deliver provisions to needy members.

Receive: Temple Blankets
LORE ITEM NO TRADE
WT: 0.5 Size: SMALL
Class: ALL
Race: ALL
(Submitting Picture)

Chesgard Sydwen says, 'Good Show!!! Here you are, young knight. Take these blankets to any resident who desires warmth. Ask them if they are followers of Karana, then ask if they require temple blankets. Be careful, the plains are quite dangerous for a young knight.' (I would assume this means ask people in the Karana's- Not sure who to ask, but can only be one apparently since he only gives you one blanket, or maybe there are more you just have to come back and get more blankets) (You can only get one at a time, Lore Item.)

Rongol and Tukk both will take the temple blankets. They are located in West Karana towards the bottom of map around mid map. Rongol is loc: -3713, -9284, -1. Tukk is just to the west of this location.

This is the dialogue:

You say, 'Are you a follower of Karana?'

Rongol(or Tukk) says, 'Yes. I am a follower of Karana, the Rainkeeper. It is He who keeps the plains fertile.'

(Note: all four of the farmers or people, will give you the same line, but only Tukk and Rongol will answer to the next line)

You say, 'Do you want temple blankets?'

Rongol(or Tukk) says, 'With the frequent rains, I find my only need is a blanket to keep me warm during the long cold nights. Thank Karana the temple has begun to send young paladins to deliver extra blankets.'

Give the temple blankets to either Rongol or Tukk.

Rongol(or Tukk) says, 'Thank you, protector of Karana. This will be handy when the cold rushes into the valley. Allow me to offer you some provisions for your journey. And, might I add, the [Karana bandits] have begun to operate much closer to Qeynos.' (Think he just gives Iron Rations, didn't see any new food items in my backpack, I have iron rations only)
Your faction with Karana Residents got better.
Your faction with Guards of Qeynos got better.
Your faction with Priests of Life got better.
Your faction with Knights of Thunder got better.
You gain experience!!
You receive 9 copper from Rongol.

You say, 'What Karana bandits?'

Rongol says, 'The Karana bandits are rogues who operate in the plains. I have heard there are bounties for the bandits. Within the Temple of Thunder in Qeynos, Cleric Ghena offers one for bandit spectacles and Paladin Chesgard offers one for bandit sashes.'

(this is the quest before the bandit sashes, I did it backwards.)

Ok the location of the raiders that drop the sashes and respawn quick are at loc: -4080, -1942, -60 Located in North Karana southeast of the druid circle on the shoreline.

The spawn rate is very high here, by the time I got done with the last one of the six(mind you one or two hits at 51st Pally) the first one had alrdy respawned. Getting average one sash per 8 of em killed. (8 spawn here)

Faction:
Karana Bandits got worse
Karana Residents got better
Guards of Qeynos got better
Guards of Highpass got better
Circle of Unseen Hands got better

The sashes are what will give you the faction raise for Priests of Life.

I am a Troll Shadowknight and the Qeynos Guards con as "ready to attack" to me. So I killed about 100-150 gnolls last night, turned in 29 gnoll fangs, turned in 29 moonstones, then went and killed bandits for an hour. I am still "ready to attack". Any idea how long it will take to raise faction one step better?

It took me about 30 sashes to get from scowling to dubious. I'm not sure how far into scowling I was but it only took about an hour and a half to farm all the sashes.

This is a great quest for low 10's although watch faction. I am helpin a chanter friend start her epic, and the one she needs to talk to scowls her. I came to check what faction we need to work on, and bloodsabers is what i found. This quest will lower that faction. There is an ez quest, tacklebox/tunic will raise bloodsaber faction. you can do this one in your first few lvls to get the faction up so ya don't take such a big hit if ya decide to do bandits later.

The farmers that pop at the bandit farm across from the guard tower near the crossroads also drop the sashes on occasion. Also useful to note, the half-elf bandits (male and female) are ALWAYS casters and WILL kick your azz royally with root followed by a volley of fire and lightning based spells so keep a sharp eye out for them. They also heal and buff themselves and any other bandit types you may be fighting, which is why melee type bandits frequently have strong damage shields. Also watch for brigands as there is usually one inside the house at the bandit farm and some roam all over WK and will aggro if they see one of their buddies being attacked.

Most of the bandit camps are marked on the EQAtlas maps of the zones. For example, the infamous Bandit Farm is number 6 on the map of Western Karanas. This is one of the more popular bandit hunting places. Typically there will be 2 bandits in the barn, 1 in the house, and 2 farmers standing between the two (The farmers are also bandits, drop sashes, etc). Every so often a bandit runs between points 6 (the farm) and 3 ( a camp on the other side of a hill), it's pretty easy to catch that one alone. There's also a place on the line between points 6 and 3 where 3 bandits spawn together.

There are literally dozens of bandit camps in W K.
Most are in the mountains to the north. There is also the farm and the bandit roadblock camp.
I'd recommend starting with the two at the roadblock, then work your way up.
We could take 2 as a well-coordinated effort, when I was in a two-person group. I am now levl 17, and can destroy most camps by myself.
Beware the spellcasters. Two guys throwing root, healing each other, and every bandit having spiky-skin-spells just added up to a world of hurt when you are solo.

I've been hunting bandits since I was around 12th level. I'm 20 now and they are all green except the occasional blue brigand. The sashes are the best money maker I've discovered so far. My map is scribbled over with all the camps and paths of the runners. Lately I've been finding Gold teeth. Anyone know what to do with them? (other than chew bandit food.)

If you don't need the golden teeth for quests, they are also a nice loot item for lowbies. Just keep saving them up and you'll get around 5PP per stack of 20 depending on faction and charisma.

Ok this is a suprime quest for good chars and somewhat bad for evil/neutral ones.

First off all just plainly kiling bandits gets you folowing good factions:

Circle fo Unseen Hand (Qeynos Rogues)
Karana Residents (merchats and most NPCs in karanas)
High Pass Guards (a must for travel to HH for evil chars)
Qeynos Guards

These are VERY useable for evryone specily evil chars.

Turning in teh sahes will get you about 1-2pp per each(you get bronze wepons for them) nice chunk of XP (at lev 16 atlest) and factions.
These faction are NOT so good for evil chars. You get NEGATIVE faction with BloodSabers, so this quest is off my list as Dark Elf Sk who needs place to train in Qeynos.

Neutral chars will also suffer, as you know most agnostic races CAn visit Qeynos Catacombs unless they continialy ruisn their BloodSabers faction.

However there is another (long) way how benefite from turning sahes(cash) and getting BloodSabers faction back:

1. Turn in as many sashes as you like
2. Kill cleric Brothers and Lushin Novashin insanly many times
3. Turn in toons of Moonstone to Mcneal

And here you go:
You are aminable with both Paladins/Ckerics and BloodSabers

I've heard other people mention something to this effect too about blackburrow. Level 10 is one of those weird levels. Being an East Antonican, I usually hit the rattlesnakes and things like that in East Commonlands. There are things for a 10 to hunt in West Karana, but they're so spread out.

If you can get into a good group, you might be able to handle the bandit farm, but occasionally a brigand pops there and creates problems for low characters.

the raiders in the karanas do drop sashes. I went there with my level 34 warrior and wiped out the raiders near the bridge to sk and two of them droped sashes. i dont know why, but i got fine plate legs for one of the sashes and a ringmail cape the second time. is it because i play on a pvp server? anyways, for something that i got while randomly going to runnyeye, it wasnt a bad quest at all.

I've camped the bandit farm in Karana for so long that my faction cannot go any higher with the Qeynos guards. What I found is that you only get sashes off the human bandits, the evil farmers, and the brigands. Casters and barbarians don't give any sashes.

This is one of the best money makers I have found. Everytime I go to North, South, or East Karana, I detour round and camp the bandit camp to fill up with sashes. My last few results (none took more than 20 minutes)
1. 9 sashes...24.7 pp
2. 11 sashes...35.2 pp
3. 10 sashes...29.2 pp

Everyone I tell this to says they never heard of it....Pass the word...in NK and SK especially, I have never seen anyone else while killing them.

The Stein of Moggok isnt the epic. If you dont believe me, think of it this way. Would Verant have every other class do their epic around level 50-60 while we enchanters do ours at 12? If you want to re-raise faction try just killing bandits for the faction til you arent kos, then turn in their sashes.
RE: Faction
# Nov 07 2001 at 1:05 AM Rating: Default
Not neccesarily talking about moggok..
Epic requires faction with the plaguebringers (Reania Jukle in qeynos catacombs), and killing the fishie is good for that if you worship a good god.

If agnostic, illussion human and collab will do the trick.

As an ogre warrior, I have killed literally thousands of gnolls in blackburrow. My faction can't possible get any better with: Qeynos Guards, Qeynos Merchants, Jagged Pine Tree Folk (Druids), and one other class (I can't remember which at the moment). But one charactor I always have to watch out for is Roesager Thuston. He is a paladin but he usually hangs out in North Qeynos. Being KOS to this guy, I thought I should bring up my faction with the palidins so I could visit Qeynos without having to consider every NPC in the distance to see if they were one of the few who hate me. I had some bandit sashes in the bank for quite a while but I couldn't turn them in at the Paladins guild because Chesgard was always scowling at me every time I peered around the corner. Every time I went to the bank, I checked the /who to see if there was someone in town who could disguise me. One day, there was a high level druid in South Qeynos and I paid him to cast Greater Wolf Form on me. I ran and took a look at Chesgard and he was infifferant to me. I ran to the bank and got out the 20 bandit sashes I had stashed there and gave them to Chesgard and he gave me faction and a good item for every one. I sold the items to the merchant standing right next to him. (lucky thing for you weaklings who can't carry 20 bronze weapons, because you won't be able to move). I then ran away from the palidins and clicked off wolf form and suddenly he acted all warm and friendly to me... a big, ugly, evil ogre. And what is more, Roesager Thuston stopped whacking me.

The gem of this story is that you can wolf form in Qeynos to fix faction. However, don't even think about doing that in Halas.

Where can i get the most money off the sash's? most of the people in the town sell the bronze weapons around 1 to 2pp. That seems low. and can you get armor? or is it all weapons

On E'Ci server, turning in the sashes gives one of four different items (all worth at least 1pp and up to 3pp), not to mention the gold and silver and nice experience boost.

The four items I've gotten are a bronze mace, some warclub, a shield, and a bronze hammer I think.

I believe the scrolls you're refering to are the various newspapers of different cities around Norrath. I've gotten some called the Qeynos Times or something like that. They seem to be for a quest, as they are worthless to vendors.

The newspapers aren't for any quest that I know of, they're simply a rarely-updated way for Verant to put some storytelling in the game. Read the papers sometimes.. back in the fall when the plague in the Karanas was cured, all the papers had a bit piece about it, and the stories were worded to slant with however the city in question felt about Qeynos, Bertoxxulus and humans in general. It was pretty funny. :>

I camped the two bandit campes near the ogre spawns in WK for about 4 hours, ending up with 35 sashes. The faction just from killing those bandits had boosted me from apprehensive to amiable with qeynos guards. Once i'd turned in all the sashes, I had also moved to warmly from indifferent with the pally guild there, making over 100pp fromt eh bronze weapons too.

Now I can do my soulfire quest.

I am a 26th Season Rogue from the Karana server. I camped the bandit camp closest to the QH zone and the farm with bandits in it for about 2 hours, I was able to loot 18 sashes running back and forth killing bandits. After turning in the Sashes and selling all the loot I received 65pp and about 1 blue bubble of Exp. This is definetly for the money and not the experience.

I just finished camping for another 3 hours and I received 26 sashes and after turning them in and receiving all the weapons and selling them I cam out with another 85pp and 1 1/4 blue bubble of exp. I think I will do one more 3-4 hour camp so I can get a little more money. If you do a solid 12-hour camp you should be able to come out with 300pp-400pp and a yellow bubble of exp.

/boggle - I hope you're doing this for faction.
You should really go back to EF and join a mammoth group or icy orc group for another level or two. You could make about the same or better money and get exp at the same time (novel concept huh?) instead of farming greenies for 30pp/hr. After you learn how to group, you can head down to Cazic and maybe get some Ravenscale drops instead of farming to buy it.
Leave the bandits for the level 8-14ish chars this quest is designed for - the ones that get good money AND experience for it. (unless you need the faction)

I been camping the raiders with my lvl 31 bard for a long time, this is my highest char, I don't have a druid to make money, so I use my bard and have all my slots filled with 8-10 slot bags, and I take a day 12 hours of play and camp the radiers, I sell all the bronze at the gypsies, and keep the food and drink, alcohol, and when my bags ar filled with sashes, i try and get sow and as much str buff as possible because i always get 2000 somethjing copper,1000 something silver, 100's of gold, and lots of pp, so you will be emcumbered, i was 200/97, when i made it to qeynos idrop the money in the bank then head to chelsin to give him the sashes, i made almost 300pp in 2 hours, i wanna by a wurm slayer for my warrior, he he

Offer to buy moonstones from people... it'll take quite a few and you won't get high enough faction changes before becoming KOS to Corrupt Guards if you get the moonstones from the gnoll fang quest. I accidentally killed a fish one time to see what would happen and I ended up having to turn in about 30 moonstones to get back to indifferent faction (which is where I started...) Spend some time in BlackBurrow and in the arena in Qeynos asking people for their moonstones. Newbies that actually get exp from the gnoll fangs would love to sell their moonstones for 5gp a piece!

You should have had a mule killing your fish for you, or been doing a LOT of faction work between each kill. The faction hit for killing a koalindl is huge. Sometimes Rodcet Nife himself is in disguise as a koalindl, and that can be unpleasant if you are using a real character to kill the fish.

The sash quest requires Order of Thunder faction, not Priests of Life, but you've trashed that pretty well too.

It may be possible for you to work your way back into their good graces (you could turn in about a million bone chips to Lashun if you can figure out a way to get him to con indiff to you), but I suspect that you are probably just going to have to write off the paladins and clerics in Qeynos.

I collected 8 sashes in a recent camp out of the raiders. Went to Qeynos, gave them to Chesgard, got some XP and gold but NO bronze weapons. NONE!

Gave him the sah individually and 4 at a time with no difference. I'm a 15th level halfling druid. This is first time to Qeynos so only thing I can think of is not having a certain faction up to par. If so, I have no clue which one and if not I'm stumped.

Anyone have any insight?

I, being a dark elf enchantress who worships Innoruuk, with Illusion human and benevelance, guards and the paladins conned dubious to me, well after I turned in 16 sashes my faction WITHOUT an illusion was dubious! The next night I turned in 8 more (slow night in West Karana and a friggin Werewolf hampered my bounty) & I am apprehensive to them without illusion, with illusion human & benevelance, I am kindly to Chesgard! =D

When you turn in the sashes, you get a few copper up to the equivelant of a platinum piece and you get various weapons and shields, which in turn can be sold for 1 to 3 platinum, over all a great faction boosting and pocket fattening quest.

Best Spawn
# Nov 09 2000 at 7:11 PM Rating: Default
Probably going to get an argument here, but from experience the best spawn spot would be in SK, due east of the stone bridge.

Reason I say that is quite simple. There are approximately 6 to 8 spawns there and by the time you kill the last one the first one is spawning, or will in 10 seconds or so.

I play a bard as my main and when he was around lev 20 I would sit there killing the bandits until a group came up at the aviaks. Faction maxed out over that time and if I couldnt get into a group I would make a nice profit on the night. Best night was around 350 plat with 2 trips needed.

The centaur camp was also conveniently close to sell the weapons I picked up from the camp as well.

RE: Best Spawn
# Nov 20 2001 at 12:41 AM Rating: Good
I believe you are referring here to the raiders that are due east of the bridge after the second hill along shore of the river. Being raiders I do not know if they drop sashs. I only wiped them out once so am not a good authority on whether they drop sashs or not, but they are raiders and not bandits and the one camp wipe yielded no sashs. I did go to Eastern Karanas and wipe out that camp of bandits and got a couple of sashs to turn in. Unfortunately they do not stack and being a 49 cleric I seldom get to spend much time in a town, as I average about 5 rezzes per session. Please, if I rezz you, do not insult me with the offering of coin unless you are very wealthy and simply wish to help a poor cleric. Granted it comes in handy at times to reward other players that show extreme valor and courage helping me on other corpse runs, but I am a Green Knight and as such am bond by code and honor to assist as best I can.

Speaking only of my experience on E'Ci, the raiders of North Karana do in fact drop sashes. In fact it is my opinion that this site is the best source for sash farmers due to the high spawn rate.

For low level players wanting to fight them for experience, you will need a really solid group to hold them off, let alone break camp in the first place.

My 14th level human druid can break/hold the NK camp easily. Harmony one of the middle mobs and pull whichever one you want. Make sure you are fully buffed and healed and medded for the casters though (female half-elves are druids, male half-elves are wizards). The wizards can be really tough, nuke em fast and hard.

The rest are easy. Harmony the camp, pull with Snare, Stinging Swarm just as the mob nears you. Melee and loot. I only keep up Skin Like Rock, Thistlecoat and SoW. Also Endure Fire when I pull a caster. The whole camp is dark blue, I've never gotten one higher than that. Nice xp.

Druids have an amazing camp-breaking spell at a relatively low level in Harmony. If you are a druid or can group with a druid, you'll have a better chance at breaking camp.

The highwaymen in ek now drop these too, but it's a bit of a trek if you want to go back from qeynos. Also, it seems that the proportion of sashes to bandits is lower too.. fewer sashes, more bandits.

Just a caution to enchanters regarding the new enchanter only quest that came with the last patch. You need good faction with the Blood Sabres to get part of your quest done and I have read on another site that even our really high level "be friendly" spells don't work well enough if your faction is really bad.

I hunted these from 11-14, and the money and exp I gained from handing in the sashes was very good throughout. I went from apprehensive to warmly to the guards in about 4 days of playing, and made a lot of plat in the process. If your a lowly teenager hunting around Qeynos, then this is the quest to do.

It took my agnostic troll warrior between 764 and 837 bandits. Running between the two bandit camps in Lake Rathe, I could kill all fourteen (8 and 6) in slightly less than the six minute spawn time. An occasional side-trip to the Ogre merchants conveniently located between the two camps kept my weight managable.

Simple Quests
# Jul 06 2000 at 2:14 PM Rating: Decent
Certainly one of the best "simple quests" available. Usually, items that you just find while killing a type of mob (orc scalps, CB belts, etc) aren't worth all that much. But for 2-3 plat per sash and a sash on about 1 in 3 bandits? Tough to beat that.

I've given in well over a hundred of these babies and the reward is always a bronze weapon, except when it's a shield. Everything sells for 1 - 3 plat to the guy standing next to Chesgard which is just as well because after handing in 21 sashes I couldn't move an inch for the weight of bronze.
