Access to Dreadspire Keep(Normal):
Anyone at least 70th level (Be level 70+ AND Secrets of Faydwer has been unlocked for at least one month) is automatically granted the key to Dreadspire Keep. The information here regards the ACTUAL flag, as it was prior to the minimum level requirement introduced.
Completing this series of missions will make the Dreadspire Keep zone available to you.
**WARNING: When completing these tasks make sure nobody is zoning, LD, etc or they will get bugged and not get their reward nor credit for the mission.
**NOTICE: Unlike the spell sets that involved mission arcs from 1 NPC, these quests all have a unique quest giver and no "obvious" link to each other. Everyone must complete these tasks to gain access to Dreadspire Keep, consider it a "signet quest".
Find the gnome Treddlehoop in Corathus Creep (located at the crash site). Hail him and say "shopping" to get the task. You need to collect 4 items for him:
* A silk gland from the yellow /con spiders out on the living bridges in The Hive and inside the cocoons. There is a safe camp on the living bridges, just go all the way up (without going into the hives themselves). Pull spiders till you get your drop.
* Kill "Deep Orcs" in Stoneroot Falls until you loot two Chopping Swords. These are a random drop on any Deep Orcs in the zone.
* In the Ruins of Illsalin, you will want to pull the Shilliskin located near the "throne" area. This is the southern most building in the zone. You need to levitate across or scale the wall to enter. The item you are looking for is a Shiliskin Tentacle Cluster.
Once you have the four items, return to Treddlehoop and turn them in as per the task manager. You will receive Treddlehoops' Signature Monocle and some clues to what else he is looking for...
Well, thank you very much! These will be handy. Here, take this. It's one of my specialty products. I only give them to my friends. I make these for folks because I worry that they can't see things clearly. Why, when I became a gnomework I found that my lenses were far superior to my old eyes. With a good monocle someone like you will have some idea how much better your sight can be! In fact, maybe you'd be interested in helping me with my experiments to create a better version of my monocle? Of course, you would need to find better parts than I have available here and there would be no guarantee that it would work. If it does, though, you may have the product. Are you [interested]? If you're not interested now, just come back and we can work on this later, but bring that monocle I gave you, I might not be able to remember who you are, most fleshlings look the same to me these days.
You say, 'I am interested'
Treddlehoop says 'Ah, yes. Well, a monocle is made of three simple parts. I'll need a [rim], a [chain] and a [lens]. Of course putting these pieces together and grinding a proper lens aren't as simple as I make it sound.'
You say, 'what rim?'
Treddlehoop says 'I need some material to make a nice sturdy lens rim. I've heard rumors that back in the day the Shiliskin made fine jewelry that was completely resistant to the effects of water and general erosion. And, well, they wear jewelry on their face-tentacle-things for formal occasions. I have been thinking that a ring like that would be a great monocle rim, with some adjustments of course. If you can find such a piece of jewelry it would be a good start. If you find a likely item come and tell me what you've found. I'll be able to tell if you've got something that will work.'
You say, 'what chain?'
Treddlehoop says 'The chain is more than just decoration for a monocle. It must be sturdy to prevent losing the eyepiece as well as decorative. Many also forget to provide enough chain to allow for taller wearers or those with a desire to drape their chain. In any case, for this experiment I think we'll want something special. I know that my own people, the fleshy ones especially, are very good at making such chain. I suppose you might find something worthy from them, though convincing them to part with it might be difficult. Luckily, we've seen plenty of Gnomes run through here since we were discovered. I fact, Mazil is caring for one right now. Come and tell me what you find and I'll let you know if I can use it.'
You say, 'what lens?'
Treddlehoop says 'Obviously the lens is the most important part of the monocle. See if you can find something special. Obviously it must be made from a substance that is clear and has the properties of glass. But I also want something that will magnify things. It would be even better if it had other properties I could put to use. I wish I could tell you more. Just come by and give me the name of what you've found that might work and I'll be able to tell you what I think about it.'
**NOTE: This is the same quest used in the mission for the level 69 DoD spell/disc. You can choose to do normal or hard; they both give your key part.
The zone-in for this mission is in Stoneroot Falls. Kill the monsters throughout the zone for the items you need (we got all of ours clearing the top level spiders as well as spiders just inside the 2 obelisks). On a semi-rare basis they will drop portions of a notebook. You need to collect all nine pieces to complete the mission. There are no respawns in this instance and the mobs do not summon (can be kited).
Once you have beaten the mission, aside from the mission personal reward, you will receive Spectacular Image Enhancing Prism, the 2nd part of the Dreadspire Keep Key.
The Lost Gnomes
Mission Giver: Mazil Hibbinap
Mission Type: 1-Group
Starting Zone: Corathus Creep
Instanced Zone: The Hatchery (inside The Hive)
This mission is pretty simple, head to the Hatchery entrance, zone-in and begin to pull spiders. There is no repops in this instance of the zone. As you kill spiders, open the cocoons, randomly a gnome will pop out of the cocoon. Say, "follow" to them and lead em to the zone-out for credit. You need to do this 4 times. Sometimes, your gnome won't make it, he'll turn into a spider, that is fine, kill the spider and you still get credit. That's about it, once you beat the mission you will receive Gold and Platinum Twined Necklace, the 3rd part to the Dreadspire Keep Key.
Deserting the Ranks
Mission Giver: Zahn
Mission Type: 1-Group
Starting Zone: The Undershore
Instanced Zone: The Nargilor Pits (Ruins of Illsalin)
Zahn can be found on the shore north of the JTP camp. Hail him and choose his "group" option. He will give who ever gets the task a shawl that is used later in the mission.
Head to the Ruins of Illsalin and zone-in to your instance, The Nargilor Pits. Clear the mobs in the zone until you reach the Guardian of the Pit. Once you have killed him you need to find a randomly placed "ornate chest" in the zone (a tracker is handy). Open this chest and loot its contents. This is your "key" to the door behind the named.
Enter the final room, move quickly to the left corner (hug left wall in the room). You will get spammed with some emotes and begin to be attacked by single mobs (auto-aggro). The person receiving auto-aggro seems to be the person who opens the door, so plan ahead.
While this is going on, follow the quest information and turn the shawl into any of the corpses in the final room (do this as soon as you can). Also of note, Emperor Draygun will spawn and roam the room. He isn't attackable and just roams around and summons the dead shiliskin to life (hence you being attacked). After approximately 10 mobs, you will get jumped by 3 at once, 2 x legionnaire and 1 x captain. Kill the captain and loot his item to finish the mission. The captain also drops your loot "reward" for the mission. Return the drop from the captain to Zahn to complete the task.
When you beat this mission you will receive Golden Shiliskin Tentacle Ring, the 4th and final part to the key as well as a gem for the Shattered Blade quest and a personal reward (shoulders for melee and a range for casters).
In short, you need to do these 4 missions above and receive 4 items. Once you have all 4, go to Treddlehoop and turn them in. You will then receive Treddlehoops Wonderful Monoculor Seeing Device, which is they key to Dreadspire Keep.
Treddlehoop takes the items and examines them. 'These will do nicely, very nicely.' He pulls out several odd-looking tools and begins to pry at the ring. Eventually he snips it in half with a very large and dangerous tool. He works on the chain until he gets it into a shape he seems to approve of then takes out a rough looking stone and a very fine file and starts hammering and filing on the prism. It is surprising that he doesn't break it. Instead he trims and files it into a circular shape and slides in into the ring. He bends the ring until it fits snugly around the lens, then briefly turns his back to you. You see flame jetting out from his midsection for a few seconds. When he turns back to you he is polishing a completed monocle, which he hands to you. 'This is a wonderful device. I believe it will serve you well. Keep it with you, you never know when you'll need such a thing. Keep your eyes open for better lens material. Tell me if you find anything that you think might make it better.'
The zone-in for Dreadspire Keep is located in the Hive. Work your way out to the living bridges and enter the most northern "hive". If you have maps, this hive is marked with a ??? on it. At the top of that hive is a door, click it and your in Dreadspire Keep (first time you enter you must have the device in your inventory). Be careful, however. There is a very nasty named that also roams this hive. He can max hit around 6k, flurry and root proc! If your careful, you can watch his pathing and slip by.. he see's invis AND SOS.
You are looking over the object when you suddenly remember the monocle that Treddlehoop made for you and the words he said, 'you never know when you'll need such a thing.' You place the monocle over your eye and you can immediately make out a magical pattern. You place your hand at the center of the pattern and you open the portal. Now that you've seen the pattern you know that you will always be able to find that spot again.
Bellfast says 'Great! You have been much help to me. I am feeling younger already! Long ago when we came down here there were four [brothers] who were geniuses at making the wonderful devices that us gnomes make.'
You say, 'What brothers?'
Bellfast says 'Together they had made a device that can alter certain very rare stones and with some mechanoinstructions, some lubricating goo, and a base seal, one could make a wondrous seal that one could attach to the armor especially made for their [culture].'
You say, 'What about their culture?'
Bellfast says 'If you want to help me further, I have four books that explain about the device, [Ambleshift's Anfractuous Album], [Poxysmit's Precipitous Parts], [Scrindite's Senescent Scribbles], and [Epicthieck's Edification Edition]. Each one describes each person's part in the machine.'
You say, 'Ambleshift's Anfractuous Album'
You have been assigned the task 'Ambleshift's Anfractuous Album'.
Bellfast says 'Ambleshift was the one who put it all together. While the other three try to claim credit, if it was not for Ambleshift, none of it would actually have come together. His book describes the final assembly of the device, and some parts of it that he himself made. If you could get me some items, I would be willing to give you a copy of the album.'

Recluse Canyon
An isolated canyon delves into the rock along the Hive. Drachnid warlocks gather there to hone their dark talents in seclusion.
The East Obelisk
Although drachnid are most at home in their naturally-grown chitin tunnels, they also erected two obelisks in an open canyon region within the Hive. These obelisks serve as audience chambers for non-drachnid guests, as well as the training grounds of the feared drachnid skinwalkers, spies who disguise themselves with magically enchanted skins of other races.
Warren of the Conscripts
As the Drachnids began their war against the shiliskin, Sendaii the Hive Queen soon learned that Deep Orc slaves made valuable allies once their shiliskin masters were out of the way. This chamber marks the home of the Deep Orcs that have chosen to join the drachnid ranks rather than die alongside their former shiliskin masters.
Queen Sendaii's Shrine
The drachnids erected this shrine of living chitin to pay homage to Sendaii, their leader and mistress.
The Reanimation Chamber
The shiliskin are known to reanimate the drained bodies of their victims for use as guards and servants. This chamber marks the area where the unspeakable reanimation rituals are performed.
The Living Bridges
Here, nutrient-rich fluid flows between the main drachnid colony and the dandling outer cocoons. Thick porous bridges of chitin span the cliffs, tunneling the rivers of fluid toward the Queen.

North Rim Outpost
Along the Northern Rim of the Undershore, shiliskin slave traders have established a rudimentary trade camp. Dubbed North Rim Outpost, this shiliskin trade camp is less xenophobic and more open than the bulk of the Shiliskin Empire. A few individuals there may even be willing to conduct business with the other sentient races of Darkhollow.
Malgrinnor: East Gate
The gates of Malgrinnor guard the last standing fortress of the crumbling Shiliskin Empire. You can recognize the gates by the monolithic shiliskin visages carved into the stone surfaces.
Entrance to Runesmoke Cavern
Runesmoke cavern along the western edge of the Undershore marks the ancestral location of countless shiliskin rituals and rites. Their shiliskin deathshed priests still gather there to pay homage to the Korlach, the Leviathan of the Deep.
The Enclave of Jarzarrad
Jarzarrad is an ancient prophet who was exiled from the Shiliskin Empire. He lives with his small but fervent disciples along Undershore's isolated southern rim.
Jadewater Beach
Jadewater Beach borders the richest and clearest waters of the Undershore. The shiliskin from the nearby fortress of Malgrinnor have established a prosperous fishing community along its rocky banks.
The Stone Forest
The Stone Forest is a tangled maze of rock formations that jut from the western mesa of the Undershore. The Ragepaw wurines have long claimed the terrain within its gnarled border as their territory.

DoD Level 69 Spell #2: Cavern Botany(Normal):
This is the second task in a series of four (the end result being your 69th level spell/tome). It begins with Brovil Pallivineg in Corathus Creep (southeastern part of the zone: location -750, +375).
Hail him after completing the previous task in the series.
You say, 'Hail, Brovil Pallivineg'
Brovil Pallivineg says 'Greetings _____. Do you happen to have some time to help me out? I've been studying Cicero's notes you retrieved and have found quite a bit of information about the plants in the area. If possible, I would like to continue his work, though I don't wish to meet the same end he did. If you could [gather] some samples of these plants for me I would be very grateful for your assistance. If you'd like to [check] for Cicero's notebook again let me know.'
You say, 'I will gather some samples.'
Brovil Pallivineg says, 'I have written a short list of which ones and how many I would like. You should be able to acquire them from the Sporali, though I don't know how willing they will be to give them up.'
There are three versions of this task: Low level (for 67 and under), normal and hard. The only difference between them is the quality of loot and difficulty of mobs.
You have been assigned the task 'Cavern Botany'.
Head for the Sporali's holdings and see what you can find. They probably have loads of plants around there that would be interesting to examine.
Enter the Sporali's holdings 0/1 (Corathus Creep)
Follow your compass to the instanced entrance to the Sporali Caverns.
LOADING, PLEASE WAIT...
You have entered Sporali Caverns.
Task window says: Here is the list of plants that I was especially interested in from Cicero's notes. Hopefully you can find them all for me.
Possible random zone-wide rare drops: A Lost Walking Stick (68+)
Crimson Scarf (Hard)
(Optional) Seal the bag of samples 0/1 (ALL)
The combine produces a Full Zimminfezer Sample Pack.
(Optional) Deliver 1 Full Zimminfezer Sample Pack to Brovil Pallivineg 0/1 (Corathus Creep)
Upon handing it in:
Brovil Pallivineg says 'While you were out collecting these I've been reading further into Cicero's notes. I've begun to wonder if maybe Cicero would still be [alive].'
Speak with him once you've completed the previous two tasks:
You say, 'Hail, Brovil Pallivineg'
Brovil Pallivineg says '_____! You're back just in time. I've been studying Cicero's notes more closely and the section on the cocoons the shiliskin were trapped in has been particularly interesting. Guessing from his writings and with other information we've gathered since, I believe his disappearance was the work of the [drachnids]. If you'd like to [search] for Cicero's notebook or the fauna samples again let me know.'
You say, 'What drachnids?'
Brovil Pallivineg says 'If he was attacked by the group of drachnids that captured the shiliskin he wrote about, he himself may have become trapped in one of those cocoons. Since most of the drachnids live in that vile hive it stands to reason he would have been taken there if he were captured and kept alive in one of those cocoons. Of course there is always the chance they just captured and ate him. We'll never know unless we [go] find out!'
You say, 'Let's go.'
Brovil Pallivineg says 'When I said we, I meant you of course. You wouldn't find me anywhere near that place. Since you've been so helpful I do hate to put more of the burden on you. But, since you're offering to go, I can at least give you a place to [start] the search.'
You say, 'Where should I start?'
You have been assigned the task 'The Search for Clues'.
Search the hatchery for any information on Cicero. If he was there you should be able to find some trace of him.
Find a way into the hatchery chambers in the Hive 0/1 (The Hive)
The instance is located deep within the regular Hive zone. To get there, go to the third cocoon and enter the tunnel extending out from it. The entrance is in the first large opening (it is also marked on your compass).
LOADING, PLEASE WAIT...
You have entered The Hatchery.
(Note: "Living Larder" and "The Hatchery" are the same zone. Their names are used interchangeably.)
Search the chambers for any sign of Cicero 0/1 (Living Larder)
In a room to the southwest you find a drachnid named Wicyl, the Watcher.
Wicyl, the Watcher says 'So, you've come after the gnome have you? Foolish adventurers, there is nothing here for you except your own demise!'
He's a shadowknight, quads for ~1,100, casts Harm Touch and Fear as well as Web of Hooks. At 50% health, he becomes invulnerable.
Wicyl, the Watcher says 'I don't have the time to deal with pests like you. My assistants will see to it that you meet the same fate as that gnome you've been looking for. Enjoy the remainder of your short pathetic lives.'
He summons a few adds called "a drachnid broodtender" (also shadowknights) and teleports away, updating this task step.
Task Window Says: This drachnid appears to know something of Cicero! Destroy it and then search the room for any further clues.
Wicyl is now found in a room to the northwest.
Wicyl, the Watcher says 'You survived my assistants? Impressive, I will have to take care of you myself then!'
You have slain Wicyl, the Watcher!
Your faction standing with Scions of Dreadspire got worse.
Your faction standing with Shiliskin Empire got better.
Your faction standing with Free Traders of Malgrinnor got better.
It sounds like Wicyl may have known something about Cicero. Search their corpse and see if you can find any additional clues.
At this point, everyone in the task receives a loot reward:
Blood Fire Wand (normal)
Crystalline Webbing of Deflecting (normal)
Crystalline Webbing of Warding (normal)
Drachnid Cane (normal)
Molted Drachnid Chitin Vest (normal)
Official Expedition 328 Britches (normal)

Cocoon Skin Gloves (hard)
Dark Web Bowl (hard)
Soiled Plate Arms (hard)
Succumbed Victim Skull (hard)
Random Rare Zonewide Drops Drachnid Ritual Mask (hard)
Fang of Bloodlust (normal)
(Optional) Loot 1 Hasily Written Note 0/1 (Living Larder)
(Optional) Return to Brovil with the note from Wicyl 0/1 (Corathus Creep)
Task Window Says: Bring the note back to Brovil. This bodes well for his hunch on Cicero's fate.
Brovil Pallivineg says 'I can't believe Cicero could still be alive. From the looks of this note he is in one of the drachnid's main cocoons. I would hate to throw you back into danger, but if you're up for it I'd like to [continue] our efforts to find Cicero.'
Once you've completed the previous three tasks in the series:
You say, 'Hail, Brovil Pallivineg'
Brovil Pallivineg says 'Cicero is alive _____! With that note you found I'm sure of it. Since it seems our efforts to find him have been discovered, finding your [way to him] will be considerably more difficult. If you would like to take [revisit] your previous findings let me know.'
You say, 'Way to him?'
Brovil Pallivineg says 'The hive cocoons are hidden away in the hive, much like the hatchery is. You'll have to fight yourway back through there in order to reach that area. Be careful when you enter there. They may have placed traps in addition to guards to thwart any rescue attempts.'
There are three versions of this task: Low level (for 67 and under), normal and hard. The only difference between them is the quality of loot and difficulty of mobs.
You have been assigned the task 'Rescue Cicero!'.
You should be able to find a way into the cocoon without much trouble, given your experience with handling the drachnids. Hopefully Cicero's return is close at hand!
LOADING, PLEASE WAIT...
You have entered The Cocoons.
(Note: "The Cocoons" and "Coven of the Skinwalkers" are the same zone. Their names are used interchangeably.)
Find your way into the cocoon mentioned in the note 0/1 (The Hive)
The entrance to the instanced zone is located off the living bridges, the smaller of the two cocoons (the larger one being Queen Sendaii's lair).
Search the cocoon for any trace of Cicero 0/1 (Coven of the Skinwalkers)
Task Window Says: There must be some evidence of Cicero nearby, or possibly Cicero himself! See what you can find, but be careful! They likely know you're there.
NOTE: If you don't aggro and kill mobs in a certain way here, you can bug the task so that it becomes unwinnable.
In a room towards the top of the zone you'll find two drachnid guardians. Pull them out of the room and kill them (don't kill them where they spawn).
This spawns "Kalyth, the Keeper". Pull him out of the room and do not kill him until this step updates (it's supposed to update upon engage, but if you kill him so fast that the task doesn't have a chance to update, it bugs the task).
Slay Kalyth, the Keeper 0/1 (Coven of the Skinwalkers)
Task Window Says: Kalyth must have something to do with Cicero! Kill him and search the room!
Kalyth, the Keeper says 'You pathetic surface dwellers have no chance here. I will send your corpses to the hatchery and then finish off this gnome!'
Kalyth hits for a max ~1,400 (on normal) and enrages. He does NOT rampage or flurry, or cast any spells (on normal).
You have slain Kalyth, the Keeper!
Your faction standing with Scions of Dreadspire got worse.
Your faction standing with Shiliskin Empire got better.
Your faction standing with Free Traders of Malgrinnor got better.
Open the cocoon Kalyth was holding 0/1 (Coven of the Skinwalkers)
Open an aged cocoon in Kalyth's room in order to spawn Cicero.
Cicero Quikwire says 'By King Ak'Anon's grace, who might you be? Have those blasted drachnids gone?' Cicero looks around and yawns. 'Oh my, have I been inside one of those cocoons? I did wonder what it would be like in one of them. I can't remember anything about what it was like. Tell me the [drachnids] don't live here!'
You say, 'The drachnids live here..'
Cicero Quikwire says 'Oh dear, I've gotten myself in a real fuzbittily mess, haven't I? I was just wanting to see where that sporali was going and what his purpose was so I could complete my research. He stopped for a few ticks and I hid in a small cave so he wouldn't see me. That's when it [happened].'
You say, 'What happened?'
Cicero Quikwire says 'Seems I made the wrong decision, doesn't it? The cave I hid in was being used by drachnid spies I think. They hadn't seen many gnomes I suppose, which is likely why I was left alive. After discovering me they spun me into one of their stasis cocoons like the ones some shiliskin were trapped in for a very long time. Thank you for helping release me though, do you mind if I [follow] you out?'
Escort Cicero out of the cocoon 0/1 (Coven of the Skinwalkers)
You say, 'Follow us'
Cicero Quikwire says 'Ah thank you, thank you. Before we go do you mind if I check on a few things in here? I know it's a lot to ask, but after all this time, I should finish my research.'
Escort Cicero the zone-in. Be advised that he WILL open cocoons (a cocooned victim) that he finds and seems is "set" to open them, going out of his way to open one if you cleared some on the way up. Be aware that the zone does repop. Cocoons that Cicero open will spawn an add.
Cicero Quikwire says 'Now if I can just get a small sample of this cocoon. . .Oops!'
a freed drachnid says 'I shall wear your skin as a prize!'
Cicero Quikwire says 'I'm very sorry for that trouble, I promise to be more careful. Let's go ahead and get out of here!'
Cicero Quikwire says 'I thought this one looked different! I promise to be more careful with this one, no more surprises from me. . . after this one. . .'
Cicero Quikwire says 'That was definitely an unexpected result, I must make a note of this!' Cicero pulls out a scrap of paper and looks around for something to write with, 'Ah well, I suppose I'll remember it well enough to write about later. Let's get to that exit!'
Cicero Quikwire looks around before delivering a quick poke to the cocoon.
Cicero Quikwire says 'That one wasn't me! I swear! Uh. . . it was the elf!'
Cicero Quikwire pulls off a bit of the silk from the cocoon and quickly hides it in a pocket.
Cicero Quikwire says 'Hey! Those cocoons on the ground could be a different type, I must get one last sample before we leave.'
Cicero Quikwire says 'I promise this is the last one. . . Really!. . . Don't you believe me?'
Cicero Quikwire says 'To the exit! I have enough samples now to keep me busy for a day or two at least and I must get caught up on what has happened while I've been away.'
Cicero Quikwire says 'Thank you for rescuing me and for your help in gathering these samples. I'm sure with these and enough time I can figure out how the stasis cocoons work. I think I can get myself out from here though. Thanks again!'
As he makes it to the entrance:
Cicero is free once again! The gnomes will undoubtably be excited to see him returned to them after so long. Return to Brovil and give him the good news.

(Optional) Return to Brovil and let him know about Cicero 0/1 (Coven of the Skinwalkers)
Task Window Says: It looks like Cicero is still himself. You'll have to return to Brovil alone and let him know the good news. Hopefully Cicero can keep himself out of trouble this time.
You say, 'Hail, Brovil Pallivineg'
Brovil Pallivineg says 'That's wonderful news, though I fear for his safety wandering off like that again. I don't suppose there is anything that can be done to stop him though. He always was one to explore.'
For your 69th level spell:
You say, 'Hail, Brother Hidden Path'
Brother Hidden Path says 'Ah yes, Jarzarrad told me you were coming again Human. One of our acolytes located a scrap of parchement that radiates with dark energy. Brovil Pallivineg says 'Welcome back _____! I can't tell you how much we appreciate your efforts to learn the fate of Cicero. You have the gratitude of all the gnomes here. If you ever want to go [back over] your adventures, just let me know.'
You say, 'Epicthieck's Edification Edition.'
You have been assigned the task 'Epicthieck's Edification Ed.'.
Bellfast says 'Epicthieck was the Jack of all trades of the group. He made all the parts that used other skills, and even the Lubricating Goo that the machine needs to use in order to not damage the stone while it makes the seal. His manual explains the miscellaneous other parts that are needed to make the machine. If you could get me some items, I would be willing to give you a copy of his edition.'

The Living Isles
Giant mollusk-like creatures with impenetrable shells and incredibly slow metabolisms drift near the base of Stone Root falls. Know as the Living Isles, their exposed backs are home to some of the most dangerous wildlife in Darkhollow.
The Deeping Way Trade Route
The Deeping Way Trade Route consists of a network of bridges which crisscross one another along the precipitous Stone Root Falls. Less than one hundred years ago, it served as a bustling trade route of the Shiliskin Empire. Since the siege of Xill however, the trade route has fallen into misuse and is regularly beset by drachnid raiders. Only the battle-hardened remnants of the Xillstart legion remain stalwart enough to patrol its length.
Versarin, the Fallen Outpost
Long ago, Versarin Outpost server as the Xill's first line of defense. Since the fall of Xill however, the Outpost has fallen to ruin and neglect. The drachnids now use the hallowed out tower to practice their reanimation rituals on the corpses of shiliskin victims.
The Ruins of Xill
Xill was the first shiliskin city to fall to the drachnid invaders. Although the city has remained in ruins ever since, several members of the drachnid lower caste have since scuttled into the rubble to claim the area as their own.
The Coral Bog
Giant coral growths rise from the shallows south of Stone Root Falls. In these shallows, the witheran gather to feed and spawn in the murky waters. During the flood season, the witheran gather in such numbers that the water itself appears to squirm with life.

Corathus Creep: Edge of the Corathus Veins
Corathus, a crumbly mineral magical in nature, lies in deep veins below the Creep of Corathus. The veins are exposed in the area near the Creep Reaper mines where the obsessed gnomeworks have dug to extract the precious resource.
Can be completed near -710, 1150 (the dead end in the far southwest).
Corathus Creep: Sporali Mindspore Traps
Although the Sporali-Shiliskin wars ended many centuries ago, many of the sporali evolved defenses linger to this day. The most powerful of these evolutionary innovations are the cultivated mindspores. The mindspores launch a parasitic pollen which takes over the body of a shiliskin host and renders it a thrall of the sentient parent mindspore.
Throughout the Creep are a few lingering mindspore colonies, descendants of the crop originally grown for the Sporali-Shiliskin wars.
Can be completed near -360, 825 (central part of the zone).
Corathus Creep: Crash Site of Expedition 328
Roughly three centuries ago, the gnomes aboard Expedition 328 dug through the roof of the Creep and tumbled into the cavern below. Although most of their digging machine has since been dismantled and salvaged for parts, a few remnants of the crash linger to this day.
Can be completed near -710, 255 (southeastern part of the zone).
Corathus Creep: Whisper Springs
It is no secret that the sporali draw their strength from the earth, particularly from areas of geothermal activity. Rumors persist of a sporali rejuvenation pool hidden deep within the Creep of Corathus.
Can be completed near 70, 60 (river's end in the northeastern part of the zone).
Corathus Creep: White Snake Falls
Can be completed near -225, 1480 (the falls to Undershore in the western part of the zone).

Reward: Slipgear's Gem Find Fibblebrap 2: Lost Caverns(Normal):
This group task is the second in a series of five (following "Find Fibblebrap 1: The Mines") and begins with Bellfast who is located in the southeastern part of Corathus Creep (vicinity of -710, +255).
You may not be able to get dialogue out of Bellfast, but you can trigger the task window with the key words "do it":
You say, 'I will do it.'
Note: There are multiple versions of this task, depending on your group's average level. The only differences are the levels/difficulty of mobs and the quality of loot.
You have been assigned the task 'Find Fibblebrap 2: Lost Caverns'.
1. Locate the entrance to the Caverns of the Lost 0/1 (Stoneroot Falls)
The zone-in is not marked on your compass, but can be found at /way +570,+1286 in the far west of Stoneroot Falls. It is most often guarded by a see invis mob, so be prepared to fight your way to the zone-in (or have someone DA/fade the mobs away).
Location for your westkorlach.txt map file (note, NOT in-game /loc): P -1320.9314, -547.0268, 83.0051, 0, 0, 0, 2, Instance_Zone
2. Enter the Caverns of the Lost 0/1 (Stoneroot Falls)
LOADING, PLEASE WAIT...
You have entered Caverns of the Lost.
There are a mix of undead and live mobs, as well as random see-invis mobs in the zone, so you'll have to clear your way through. Mobs are mezzable and snareable, and respawn.
3. Search for Warlock Therigal's quarters 0/1 (Caverns of the Lost)
Task window says: Search for Fibblebrap's Fibblebrap gem and clues leading to Fibblebrap's disappearance.
Head towards the southwestern edge of the map. In one of the side areas is Captain Therimel and guards. As you enter the quarters you see this exchange:
Captain Therimel says, 'Step aside, scholar! The intruders have located my father's quarters. I must strike them down with his sword!'
The task then updates.
4. Slay Captain Therimel 0/1 (Caverns of the Lost)
Therigal's Scholar says, 'I can't let you do that, Therimel. I swore to your father that I would protect it at all costs.'
Captain Therimel says, 'Move, you old fool. I am in charge now! I will not tolerate your insolence.'
Therigal's Scholar says, 'Do with me what you must, Therimel. I will not dishonor your father by breaking my oath.'
Captain Therimel says, 'Very well, have it your way.'
The Captain then slays the Scholar and turns to you:
Captain Therimel says, 'So, you think you are worthy adversaries. How novel! We will see about that, won't we.'
You've recovered the missing Fibblebrap Fragment! Return it to Bellfast at once!
Everyone in the task receives an automatic reward, and a worn old chest spawns with one additional loot. Turn in the gem to Bellfast and/or fragments for experience/group experience. You don't need the whole group to go to Bellfast, the gem and fragments can be traded for the first two tasks. The tasks complete when you loot the final fragment.
Bellfast places the gem back into his mouth. 'There must be something more.' As Bellfast sees images invade his mind he vaguely makes out two drachnids guarding some type of hidden entrance to what appears to be a cave or a lair. 'The . . . the Hive?' Bellfast asks. 'What would the drachnid's want with Fibblebrap?! Please, _____, there must be another piece of poor Fibblebrap out there somewhere. Will you [help] me [search] for it?'
You say, 'I'll help you search for it'
Note: There are multiple versions of this task, depending on your group's average level. The only differences are the levels/difficulty of mobs and the quality of loot.
You have been assigned the task 'Find Fibblebrap 3: The Hive'.
Search for the hidden lair that Bellfast envisioned 0/1 (The Hive)
On zoning into the non-instanced Hive, your compass will point your way to the instance. It's the same instance as in "Lost Gnomes" and, due to the risk of see-invis mobs, many find it easiest to proceed there via the Living Bridges and up through the 3rd hive.
Enter the Living Larder 0/1 (Living Larder)
LOADING, PLEASE WAIT...
You have entered The Hatchery.
Your task 'Find Fibblebrap 3: The Hive' has been updated.
The mobs almost exclusively see invisible, have quite a large aggro range, do not summon, and do not respawn.
Search for Fibblebrap's Fibblebrap Fragment 0/1 (Living Larder)
Clear your way to the northwestern cavern in the instance, where you will find Foreman Zlixtil.
Foreman Zlixtil says 'I have heard great tales of the adventurers from above who have come to search for lost riches, power... And now here you are. If only you fools understood the power, the strength, behind which drives the life force of our kind.'
Defeat Foreman Zlixtil 0/1 (Living Larder)
Foreman Zlixtil says 'I take it I have something you want. If it were anyone else I wouldn't be so presumptuous as to say the gem. That gleam in your eye, perhaps. I've seen it once before.' as he grasps the gem tightly between his fangs.
Foreman Zlixtil says 'As I strike you down with my governing hand of death, you will only bring me that much closer to unlocking the elusive power behind the Fibblebrap gems.'
Foreman Zlixtil hits for a max ~1,100 and flurries.
Foreman Zlixtil quivers as cocooned spirits begin to unearth themselves in search of vengeance.
At this point the walls start shaking.
You have slain Foreman Zlixtil!
Foreman Zlixtil's corpse has the fear of death frozen in its countenance.
Your faction standing with Scions of Dreadspire got worse.
Your faction standing with Shiliskin Empire got better.
Your faction standing with Free Traders of Malgrinnor got better.
Your task 'Find Fibblebrap 3: The Hive' has been updated.
Recover the Fibblebrap gem fragment 0/1 (Living Larder)
The fragment (as well as task loot) is in the chest which spawns in the northwest room after the Foreman's death.
Excavator Gazo says 'If you run into my friend Gizo's Fibblebrap gem, let me know. He has been searching for it for centuries. I told him he should try looking around more than in the same spot. Day and night he stares at the same spot on the ground in search of his gem.'
More information needed.Hides You Seek(Normal):
This group task begins with Tisthal Gimblecranz in Corathus Creep. This is a gnomework located on the south side of the zone, down a tunnel around -870, 296.
You say, 'Hail, Tisthal Gimblecranz'
Tisthal Gimblecranz says 'Diggity dreams! Are you real? Seeing you so reminds me of the lands far above me -- lands I will likely never see again. There is too much work to do here. For example, I'm doing some very interesting studies on dead drachnids. You see, they have this strange ability to use the skins of their victims to take the form of that victim -- I call it 'skinwalking.' I used to know an enchanter by the name of Binzelfal that could use illusions to change his form, but this is much, much different. I need to learn more but have run into a [problem].'
You say, 'What problem?'
Tisthal Gimblecranz says 'The only skinwalkers I have encountered are, well, dead as dirt! This is a problem because death appears to destroy all enchantments and [preparations] made to the skin that allowed the skinwalking.'
You say, 'What preparations?'
Tisthal Gimblecranz says 'Are you thick or what? I just explained why I don't know. Sheesh. I see Norrathians have gotten no smarter since my departure. Now, listen this time. The skins from the dead skinwalkers have been absolutely no help at all. Get me? I'm sure if I could [gather some skins] that have not been used to skinwalk I could make some leaps in my studies. Well, hops maybe -- my joints are rusty. Tee hee! I still have my wit even as a tin can . . . Anyway, back to what I was saying. There are likely some [other aspects] involved in using the skins as well.'
You say, 'Gather some skins?'
Tisthal Gimblecranz says 'How you figure you'll have better luck than me is your problem, but it would be a great help to my work. From what I have learned so far, the skins are kept in special gathering halls in the drachnid lair. I believe it is from these halls that the drachnids plan their espionage efforts. You will need to search these areas out and find the stashes of skins.'
You have been assigned the task 'Hides You Seek'.
Find the secret entrance to the hive 0/1 (Stoneroot Falls)
Follow your compass to the instanced zone entrance.
NOTE: Mobs inside this instance DO respawn.
Explore the staging rooms 0/2 (The Hive)
These are the top level rooms in the two towers.
Steal a prepared shiliskin hide 0/1 (The Hive)
Steal a prepared wurine hide 0/1 (The Hive)
Several chests line the walls in the staging rooms. All but one of them are empty. Loot the hide from those chests.
(Optional) Look for a partially prepared hide 0/1 (The Hive)
This drops the named Palix, the Preserver, found a few floors below in the second tower.
(Optional) Deliver the partially prepared hide to Tisthal Gimblecranz 0/1 (Corathus Creep)
You have been assigned the task 'More Parts for Bellfast'.
You have collected all the mechanoinstructions, bring them back and I have a few more items for you to get. It doesn't appear that you will be able to reconstruct the mechanoinstructions on your own, so I will do it for you.

Deliver 1 Mechanoinstruction Scraps to Bellfast 0/1 (Corathus Creep)
Deliver 1 Mechanoinstruction Scraps to Bellfast 0/1 (Corathus Creep)
The first 10 steps have you handing in the 10 different scraps to Bellfast. These are the ones you've been collecting as part of the previous task. If you sold them as you went along like me, you can usually buy all ten scraps from vendors near the bank, as farmers tend to sell them there.
Collect 5 Clockwork Pinion Gears 0/5 (ALL)
Collect 2 Clockwork Gears 0/2 (ALL)
Deliver 5 Clockwork Pinion Gears to Bellfast 0/5 (Corathus Creep)
Deliver 2 Clockwork Gears to Bellfast 0/2 (Corathus Creep)
The above-mentioned items drop from any clockwork mob in several different zones (you don't have to get them in Corathus Creep).
Upon delivering them to Bellfast:
Since you don't know much about research, I will just take the pages back from you and tell you how to make something [more important]!
You have been given: Scrindite's Mechanoinstruction Manual
Bellfast says 'Hello there. It's good to see faces from the aboveworld. Most of the time all I get to see are metallic faces, not that I mind that much. The benefit of mechanical bodies is that we don't really age. Why, I reckon that I'm gettin' near to three hundred years now. Of course, there are drawbacks too. Parts wear out. When they all wear out, then I guess we've reached old age. I'm always looking for parts, so if you happen to come across any parts that one of them nasty Creep Reapers might not need any longer, why I'd be grateful if you could bring them to me. If I can use them I'll gladly pay you for them. I'm not wealthy, but I'll pay a fair price if I can. I am also looking for some [scraps of paper] if you can find them.'
If you don't have some Mechanoinstruction Scraps (looted from creep reapers in your inventory, you'll see this:
You say, 'What scraps of paper?'
Bellfast says 'Well, there are these pages that I need. . . I'm not sure how to describe them, but I'll know one when I see it! If you find one, come back and tell me that you have one of the [scraps of paper] and then we can talk.'
If you do have Mechanoinstruction Scraps, you'll see this instead:
Bellfast says 'Oh! I see you have part of a mechanoinstruction! I need a few of those to make myself work better. If you can get me some of the complete [mechanoinstructions] I will give you a manual that will tell you how to make them. If you help me with this, I may have more you can [help me with].'
You say, 'What mechanoinstructions?'
Bellfast says 'A Mechanoinstruction is a small piece of parchment with holes in it in a certain pattern. These holes tell the machinery what it should do. We happen to have a few of them inside of us to help the various parts of us work.'
You say, 'What can I help you with?'
You have been assigned the task 'Parts for Bellfast'.
Bellfast says 'Go see Merchant Model CGXIV near the bankers and ask him about my [pinion gears] and he will give you a bundle that I need, and bring them back to me.'
Bellfast does not respond to "What pinion gears?" here.

Corathus Creep: Speak with Merchant Model CGXIV
Since you have found a part of a mechanoinstruction, I need you to get more of the pieces and then bring them back to me. These instructions will make me feel younger.
Go see Merchant Model CGXIV near the bankers and ask him about my pinion gears. He will give you a bundle that I need, just bring them back to me.
Speak with him. Hailing him is sufficient.
You say, 'Hail, Merchant Model CGXIV'
Your task 'Parts for Bellfast' has been updated.
You receive a Pinion Gear Bundle. Bring this back to Bellfast.
You must loot ten different Mechanoinstruction Scraps. When identified, each has different lore, which put together, spell out "Mechanotablet configuration advisorybook." Once you have looted the tenth piece:
--You have looted a Mechanoinstruction Scraps.--
Your task 'Parts for Bellfast' has been updated.
You have collected all of the mechanoinstructions, I have assigned you a new task.
You have been assigned the task 'More Parts for Bellfast'.
Poxysmit's Precipitous Parts(Normal):
At the end of the previous task, "More Parts for Bellfast," Bellfast promised to show you how to make something [more important].
You say, 'What is more important?'
You say, 'Poxysmit's Precipitous Parts.'
You have been assigned the task 'Poxysmit's Precipitous Parts'.
Bellfast says 'Poxysmit was the blacksmith of the group. His manual explains how to make the casing for the device itself, and the gearboxes that go inside. If you could get me some items, I would be willing to give you a copy of the parts book.'
The task consists of the following steps:
Loot 20 x Shadowmane Hair
Loot 5 x Shadowmane Pelt
Then:
Deliver 20 x Shadowmane Hair to Bellfast
Deliver 5 x Shadowmane Pelt to Bellfast
Then:
Loot 20 x Shadowmane Teeth
Loot 5 x Shadowmane Claws
Then:
Deliver 20 x Shadowmane Teeth to Bellfast
Deliver 5 x Shadowmane Claws to Bellfast
All steps must be done in sequence. You won't get credit for looting Teeth or Claws until all the Hairs and Pelts are handed in, and you can't hand in Hairs or Pelts until you have completed looting them all.
Reward: Poxysmit's Precipitous Parts Scavenger Hunting(Normal):
This is an integral part of the Dreadspire Keep Access Quest.
Treddlehoop may be found at -790, +305.
You say, 'Hail, Treddlehoop'
Treddlehoop says 'Hello there! I see you are in fine shape for someone bound to their flesh. Not that I'm an expert on such things. My area of expertise is finding much needed parts for repairing gnomeworks and our gear. It's a tough job and I hardly have time to speak, but that's never stopped me!' Treddlehoop makes a squeaking and grinding noise that you can only assume is laughter. 'I crack myself up, sometimes literally. Hey, I don't suppose you have time to do a little, um, [shopping] for me, do you? I could certainly use help keeping up with supplies around here. I don't know that I can offer much to a flesh being other than some advice in return for you help, so you'll have to do this out of the kindness of your soft, fleshy heart.'
You say, 'What shopping?'
Treddlehoop says 'Well, that's very kind of you! I never run out of things that I need. Here's the list of items. I've noted where these things have been found in the past, so you should probably start looking there. Thank you for your help, ______.'
Loot 1 Shiliskin Tentacle Cluster from a Shiliskin (0/1) - Ruins of Illsalin Loot 1 Drachnid Silk Gland from a Drachnid (0/1) - The Hive Loot 2 Chopping Sword from a deep Orc (0/2) - Stoneroot Falls Deliver 1 Shiliskin Tentacle Cluster to Treddlehoop (0/1) - Corathus Creep Deliver 1 Drachnid Silk Gland to Treddlehoop (0/1) - Corathus Creep Deliver 2 Chopping Sword to Treddlehoop (0/2) - Corathus Creep
These are a random drop off blue-con Deep Orcs in the northwestern section of Stoneroot.
* In the Ruins of Illsalin, you will want to pull the Shiliskin located near the "throne" area. This is the southern most building in the zone. You need to levitate across or scale the wall to enter. The item you are looking for is a Shiliskin Tentacle Cluster.
Once you have the four items, return to Treddlehoop and turn them in as per the task manager.
You say, 'Scrindite's Senescent Scribbles'
Bellfast says 'Scrindite was the [methodical thinker] of the group. He was a genius at making mechanoinstructions that we cannot even understand to this day. We often have some mechanotablets of his making inside of us, making us work, and we just hope that they never fail because we no longer know how to make them.'
You say, 'What methodical thinker?'
You have been assigned the task 'Scrindite's Senescent Scribbles'.
Bellfast says 'His manual explains how to make the parts of the device that read the instructions for the machine. If you could get me some items, I would be willing to give you a copy of his scribbles.'
You need to loot 20 x Ragepaw Hair and 5 x Ragepaw Pelt, then return to Bellfast. You next need to loot 20 x Ragepaw Teeth and 5 x Ragepaw Claw, then return to Bellfast.
Need all details: dialogues; task stages and descriptions; name, /loc, level range, fight info for NPCs; additional zones; faction hits if any; quest items; etc.
Reward: Scrindite's Senescent Scribbles Slipgear's Errands(Incomplete):
Find Cartographer Slipgear in Corathus Creep at -285, +200.
What level is this mission/task directed towards?
You say, 'Hail, Cartographer Slipgear'
Cartographer Slipgear says 'Bzzt! Well hello there! It's always nice to see a new face! I get so tired of all the same faces and places, don't you?
Unfortunately my left leg is jammed and all I can do right now is walk in little circles! Bzzt! This has made it pretty hard for me to finish up the maps I have started of the surrounding areas. Would you like to [help]?
You say, 'I would like to help.'
Cartographer Slipgear says 'Great! What I need is really pretty simple. I've managed to overhear some of the new arrivals talking about some of the surrounding areas and they sure do sound really exciting! Bzzt!
Since I can't go there myself right now I was hoping you could visit each one and then come back and describe them to me so I can add them to my maps. Do you [accept the mission]?'
You say, 'I accept the mission.'
Cartographer Slipgear says 'Thanks! Here's the list of places I would like to hear more about. Bzzt! Come back and see me when you have finished with this list!'
The "list" of things to do:
-Explore the Depths (pretty simple exploration of the
Corathus Creep, reward is Slipgear's Gem) -Chart the Undershore (exploration of the Undershore, reward is increased stats on Slipgear's Gem) -Explore Stoneroot Falls (exploration of Stoneroot Falls, reward is increased stats on Slipgear's Gem) -Beware the Hive (exploration of The Hive, reward is increased stats on Slipgear's Gem) -Brave the Ruins of Illsalin (exploration of Ruins of Illsalin, reward is increased stats on Slipgear's Gem)
To get him to respond on the next set of tasks, make sure you have put Slipgear's Gem into an open augment slot in your gear.Spies Like Them(Normal):
This is a problem because death appears to destroy all
enchantments and [preparations] made to the skin that allowed the skinwalking.'
Get me? I'm sure if I could [gather some skins] that have not been used to skinwalk I could make some leaps in
my studies. Well, hops maybe -- my joints are rusty. Tee hee! I still have my wit even as a tin can . . . Anyway, back to what I was saying. There are likely some [other aspects] involved in using the skins as well.'
You say, 'What other aspects?'
Tisthal Gimblecranz says 'It's my contention that the drachnids are not familiar enough with other races to perfectly impersonate them. They must study the race or have some sort of training. I've been itching to discover where they pick up that knowledge -- or maybe it's just that rust build-up. Ha ha! I did it again. Funny, huh? Where was I? Oh right. Could I get you to [venture] into the hive and see what you can find out for me? If the skinwalkers aren't eliminated, or at least reduced in numbers, their actions could cause disasters beyond your small imagination.'
You say, 'I will venture into the hive.'
Tisthal Gimblecranz says 'I'm not sure what you would be looking for in there so keep your eyes open. If you can find any writings or see any training that would be perfect. Oh, there is probably one [other thing] I should mention.'
You say, 'What other thing?'
Tisthal Gimblecranz says 'You're not exactly the first person to go searching for answers. A friend of mine, Geeble Tripcrank, went in several days ago searching for these skinwalkers. I haven't heard back from him and I'm afraid he might be in trouble. If you could check in on him and see if he's okay I would really appreciate it.'
You have been assigned the task 'Spies Like Them'
If you are not high enough in level...
You say, 'I will venture into the hive.'
Tisthal Gimblecranz says 'I don't know that you have the experience needed to survive an encounter with the skinwalkers. Go gain a bit more experience adventuring and return to me when you feel you are strong enough.
You say, 'I can gather some skins.'
Tisthal Gimblecranz says 'I appreciate your offer to help, but I don't know that you would be able to wrest the skins away from the drachnids. Return to me once you have gained a bit more experience and we may be able to work something out.'
Both denials of help offers came at 62nd level. What level is the minimum?
The Hive - Search for Geeble Tripcrank
Geeble spawns at -325, +520, +27. This is in the tunnel that leads north from the east tower/obelisk to the first hive. Your compass will indicate the direction. Tell Geeble that Gimblecranz sent you.
The Hive - Slay any skinwalkers you find
There are skinwalkers up top at each of The Hive entrances. Kill them until until you see a message saying the task stage is completed. It may be random. When this occurs an Unreadable Book will appear on the cursor of a party member.
The Hive - Find your way into the training chambers of the skinwalkers
Take the group down and past Geeble, then up a ramp to the outside in the next room. Outside, there is a path to the instanced zone.
Coven of the Skinwalkers - Kill all of the skinwalkers in the training session
The zone is The Cocoons on Hard setting.
You have to kill 32 skinwalkers across multiple levels to complete this stage. You should be invisible on zone-in, since one patroller paths past the zone-in. The patroller will occasionally see invisible.
Your task 'Spies Like Them (Hard)' has been updated.
With the elimination of those skinwalkers the threat has been delayed, but as long as their abilities allow them to move undetected as other races it can never be eliminated. Return the book you found to Tisthal, perhaps he can decipher it and figure out a new way to detect the skinwalkers.
You gain experience!!
You have been given: Gemstone of The Faceless Emperor
Normal Reward (Average level less than 68) Casters: Drachnid Collective Earring
Melee: Hive Sentinel Ring
Normal Reward (Average level 68+) Casters: Hivegrime Stone of Musing
Melee: Hivegrime Stone of Stamina
Hard Reward Casters: Hive Silk Mantle
Melee: Viscous Grimcoat Ring
"a wooden chest" Loot Cocoon Handler Gloves (Normal)
Crimson Stained Amice (Normal)
Crystal Web Mace (Hard)
Crystalline Webbing of Vitality (Hard)
Drachnid Sentry Shield (Hard)
Spun Drachnid Silk Pants (Hard)
On handing an Unreadable Book in to Tishal back in Corathus Creep:
Tisthal Gimblecranz says 'You've undoubtedly saved many people from the trouble those skinwalkers could have caused. With Geeble's return and the information you gathered I should be able to form a much better theory about the process of training a skinwalker -- hopefully enough to create some magic to see through their illusion, or possibly even render it ineffective!'
There is no experience or faction for completing this optional step.
The Rogue Freemind perks up and gazes deeply into you. A buzzing sound begins to rise up within your skull and you grasp that it is trying to communicate to you. Alas, you are unable to understand it. Amidst all of the buzzing, you gleam that perhaps if you found a certain item, then you might be able to finally understand it.
Give it the Mind Spore.
The Rogue Freemind ingests the Mind Spore.
Suddenly a cloud of gas and tiny spores explode from its body. You feel a tingle as the spores touch your skin and detect a hint of almonds in the gas.
You have been assigned the task 'Sporali Mind Meld'.
The only monster template available is a Sporali Freespore, a 45th level Ranger.
Hail the Rogue Freemind 0/1 (Corathus Creep)
You feel yourself falling into the confusing memories of the Rogue Freemind. You understand that you can resist the influence you feel, but you sense that all you have to do to submit to it is to speak to it.
You say, 'Hail, Rogue Freemind Sporali'
The world goes cold and black as if all light is being drained out of it...
As you allow the power of the spores seep into you, you begin to understand how the Rogue Freemind feels, how the lives of Freeminds such as this are forever stained with a loneliness such that your people can never understand.
You learn that all Sporali can communicate mentally with each other over great distances. All except Rogue Freeminds that is for it seems that they are completely cut off from all other Sporali. Though you are not sure how Freeminds in general occur within the Sporali colony, you glean that they perform the necessary function of forming new colonies. Rogue Freeminds, however, are looked down upon and are usually killed outright.
Doomed to wander the world alone, without a home, Rogue Freeminds lead lives in painful solitude.
You awaken with one thought in your mind, escape!
Yet you must first find some Manasheen Toadstools for food and a Moss Club for protection.
Loot 1 Moss Club from Sporali Fighter 0/1 (Sporali Caverns)
This item is a common drop from sporali defenders (non-casting mobs - appear red).
Loot 3 Manasheen Toadstool from Sporali Gardener 0/3 (Sporali Caverns)
This item is a common drop from casters (appear blue).
? ? ?
(What is the last step?)
(How/Where is loot obtained?)
At some point a chest spawns (called what?) - maybe after the fourth item is looted. One possible location:
"Look at your map. Imagine a vertical line at the right side of the map. Imagine this vertical line moving slowly to the left. The first bit of land where the vertical line crosses is where the zone-out is and also where the chest spawned for me."
One possible drop is Ooze-Spattered Boots. The other is Ooze-Covered Scarf. (Is there another possible drop?)
Find Crim Sprinklcog and Mazil Hibbinap in Corathus Creep at -715, +385, -45.
There is a normal and a hard version of this mission.
You say, 'Hail, Crim Sprinklcog'
Mazil Hibbinap says 'He's not able to talk with you right now, though I wish he were. We could really use some [help] in figuring out what happened to the rest of his party. He's the only one with firsthand knowledge of the events. Hopefully he'll wake up soon.'
(or)
You say, 'Hail, Mazil Hibbinap'
Mazil Hibbinap says 'Welcome to our camp, Weolyen. You must be another one of the surface dwellers I've seen about down here. Truly you must be a brave person to venture so far down. We could use the [help] of one such as you.'
You say, 'What kind of help?'
Mazil Hibbinap says 'I should fill you in a bit on what's happened and what we know so far, before you commit yourself to something you might regret. When people started arriving from the surface we were visited by Crim here and his friends. They were astonished to find us down here and promised to do what they could to help us. . . just as soon as they explored a bit. They left our camp and then I guess it [happened].'
You say, 'What happened?'
Mazil Hibbinap says 'I heard a commotion and went to investigate. I found a bloody gnome stumbling about the camp with a panicked look on his face. When we realized it was Crim we rushed to aid him. He spouted gnomerish, or uhm, gibberish, and then just fell over. Most of the [information] we have is from his periodic mumbling and rants.'
You say, 'What information?'
Mazil Hibbinap says 'It seems the gnomish friends were down around the great lake somewhere when they were set upon by a large band of drachnids. Unable to hold out long, the party was shortly overcome and bound in webbing. The details are a bit foggy here, but it seems while they were binding Crim up the drachnids were attacked by a group of shiliskins. During the battle Crim was able to slip out and escape. We believe the drachnids drove off or defeated their attackers and then the friends were [taken].'
You say, 'Taken?'
Mazil Hibbinap says 'Most of my brethren believe they were taken to serve as food for the drachnids. I, however, am not quite so ready to give up on them. I would like to know their fate for certain before abandoning them. If you would be [willing] to search the Hive for me I would be most grateful.'
You say, 'I am willing'
Response if too low level:
Mazil Hibbinap says 'Now that I've had a chance to take a closer look at you, I'm afraid I don't know that you'd be able to survive the rescue attempt. Gain a bit more experience and see me again.'
What is required in order to avoid this response?
Proper response:
Mazil Hibbinap says 'You will likely have to search the cocoons you find in the Hive. I suspect it will be difficult to tell what is inside them otherwise. If you would like a starting point for your search, I might suggest checking the drachnid hatchery. I have heard stories too terrible to relate of prisoners being taken there.'
An overview:
Head to the Hive and find the zone-in to The Hatchery (Normal) or Living Larder (Hard), both located in the same spot, in a cavern in the North West of the Hive. The safest route to the instance seems to be via the 3rd cocoon on the Living Bridges, although one has to be careful of web traps.
There are no respawns in this instance of the zone. As you kill spiders, open the cocoons, randomly a gnome will pop out of the cocoon...
Sizz Kipcoil says `Thank heavens you've found me! I've been terrified of what those drachnids had in store for me. You can't believe the things I've heard through that cocoon. Please let me [follow] you out!'
You say `Follow me'
Sizz Kipcoil says `Let's get going! I'll follow right behind you. Please let me know if you need me to [stop]. I wouldn't want to cause you any trouble.
When you reach the zone-out...
Sizz Kipcoil says 'Thank you for helping me escape, I don't know what I would have done without your help!'
Sometimes the gnome won't make it...
Terrzin Wirecrimp collapses to the ground as a drachnid bursts forth from his corpse!
Whoops! No matter.. your task updates anyway. You did the best you could.
Once the forth and last gnome reaches the zone-out (or dies)...
Though you were only able to help two of the gnomes escape it was the best you could have done. Return to Mazil and let him know the fate of the gnomes.
You gain experience!!
You have been given: Gold and Platinum Twined Necklace (3rd part to the Dreadspire Keep Key).
A chest will spawn containing...
Possible Hard Rewards: * Blood Shard Earring
* Crystalline Webbing of Absorbing
* Crystalline Webbing of Willpower
* Tiptop Chopper
* Web Chain Greaves
Switch Billingsley says 'Greetings. This is my Transmogrifer! I designed it to transfer intelligence between Fibblebrap gems, the stones at the cores of our clockwork bodies which contain our memories. Fibblebrap gems get old from time to time and we -- 1101010110100010 -- clockwork gnomes start to break down. *Error. Aborting auto maintenance check.* My gem's a bit old and I'm starting to get all kinds of-of-of-of-of problems. So I'm going to switch out gems with this Transmogrifer. Would you [like a demonstration] of how it works?'
You say, 'I would like a demonstration.'
Switch Billingsley says 'Okay, here goes. First you flip this switch here. Then you place the source item and the destination item into the open box sockets. Allow a bit to transmogrify and BING! You're ready! You can even use this thing to transmogrify any evolving items you have. Just be warned, there's a lot of energy loss to friction with each transfer. . .'
