This group task begins with Tisthal Gimblecranz in Corathus Creep. This is a gnomework located on the south side of the zone, down a tunnel around -870, 296.
You say, 'Hail, Tisthal Gimblecranz' Tisthal Gimblecranz says 'Diggity dreams! Are you real? Seeing you so reminds me of the lands far above me -- lands I will likely never see again. There is too much work to do here. For example, I'm doing some very interesting studies on dead drachnids. You see, they have this strange ability to use the skins of their victims to take the form of that victim -- I call it 'skinwalking.' I used to know an enchanter by the name of Binzelfal that could use illusions to change his form, but this is much, much different. I need to learn more but have run into a [problem].' You say, 'What problem?' Tisthal Gimblecranz says 'The only skinwalkers I have encountered are, well, dead as dirt! This is a problem because death appears to destroy all enchantments and [preparations] made to the skin that allowed the skinwalking.' You say, 'What preparations?' Tisthal Gimblecranz says 'Are you thick or what? I just explained why I don't know. Sheesh. I see Norrathians have gotten no smarter since my departure. Now, listen this time. The skins from the dead skinwalkers have been absolutely no help at all. Get me? I'm sure if I could [gather some skins] that have not been used to skinwalk I could make some leaps in my studies. Well, hops maybe -- my joints are rusty. Tee hee! I still have my wit even as a tin can . . . Anyway, back to what I was saying. There are likely some [other aspects] involved in using the skins as well.' You say, 'Gather some skins?' Tisthal Gimblecranz says 'How you figure you'll have better luck than me is your problem, but it would be a great help to my work. From what I have learned so far, the skins are kept in special gathering halls in the drachnid lair. I believe it is from these halls that the drachnids plan their espionage efforts. You will need to search these areas out and find the stashes of skins.' You have been assigned the task 'Hides You Seek'. Find the secret entrance to the hive 0/1 (Stoneroot Falls) Follow your compass to the instanced zone entrance. NOTE: Mobs inside this instance DO respawn. Explore the staging rooms 0/2 (The Hive) These are the top level rooms in the two towers. Steal a prepared shiliskin hide 0/1 (The Hive) Steal a prepared wurine hide 0/1 (The Hive) Several chests line the walls in the staging rooms. All but one of them are empty. Loot the hide from those chests. (Optional) Look for a partially prepared hide 0/1 (The Hive) This drops the named Palix, the Preserver, found a few floors below in the second tower. (Optional) Deliver the partially prepared hide to Tisthal Gimblecranz 0/1 (Corathus Creep) (Closing dialogues?) Hive Silk Belt from hard version - caster reward
A monk can pull each room and a rogue with SOS can be ready to loot all the chests ( about 6 in eahc room) before the mobs return. There are see invis mobs in the room so a non rogue or monk could get aggro from passing train. But a rog will make it perfectly. Just be careful of the hive hidden traps which can break hide, do not ge toofar into room until after train passes. It took less than 30 mins for my rogue and a helpful monk.

spiffie was on the right track - it's "Palix, the Preserver" 2 cellar floor ind second tower who drops the hide - need some decent dps - he has a lot of hp.

just did the hard version

i didn't finish the last task, but found a named: "Palix, the Preserver"
and my group was guessing that he had the item, we didn't get to collect it.

i think, the task with the normal and hard version was the one, that you get when replying with "other aspects" . i never had a hard version of this task here to choose from (but mayby there is one .... group to get the task was only around level 67. but the other task had the hard version to choose with that group) .
average level 70 ...

did the mission today.
after getting the mission, you have to zone into the instanced hive from stoneroot (in stoneroot falls by the drachnids).
the 2 staging rooms are the top level rooms in the 2 towers, as was allready mentioned. the chest's are lined on the walls and all but one are empty. the one with the hide has a 30min timer on the "corpse" after opening it. if you dont get the hide out in this 30mins, the mission can't be completed.
when you got the 2 hides of the chests, you get the first reward of the mission and have 30min to finish the optional missionpart. for this one, you need to find a partially prepared hide. i did not find it, (searched the 4 nests, the undead cave and the cave with the instanced zone entrance, then the time did run out on me) but i guess you have to return the 2 previous hides and the last one to Tisthal Gimblecranz (tryed to deliver only one, but got a message, that i need all questparts to finish it).

the exp for the normal part of the mission (without the optional one) was nearly nonexistent.
i was able, to do the whole mission solo as a monk (not without dying some times, till i got it right). invis will get you in the hive and a litle bit around in there, but some mobs see invis and after you opened/lootet a chest, invis drops anyway. the mobs in the instance where hitting in the 700+ range (.... was the hive not normaly a harder area ?) and should be dooable with a group.
if you want to solo the mission as a monk, i would recomend stonewall aa's maxed, cause in the upper rooms of the towers are some casters (without instand fd, i dont think that another class is able to solo the mission.... mayby roughs can).

Not all empty anymore. Sometimes they have a cheap gem inside and the chest will con as if it has a lore item in it (30 min rot time)

you zone into the hive in the recluse canyon. The staging rooms are at the top of the Towers and in these towers there are few "a storage chest" which are either empty or have the hides in them. There is one hide in each Tower in a chest.
Things you may want to know:
The zone repops.
When opening the chests you become visible.
You have to lose agro before looting the chest.
Rewards:
Melee: HIvegrime stone of vitality 65 hp aug
Caster: Hivegrime stone of the spirit 65 Mana/End aug
