The Echo Caverns are twisting maze of tunnels beneath the surface of Luclin. They are filled with alien life and mined by Shadow Haven residents. The caverns connect to two of the more dangerous parts of the Luclin underground: Fungus Grove and the Deep.

The Echo Caverns are also home to a band of Haven Smugglers as well as a bizarre group of gnomes, whose area is referred to as the Kingdom of Above and Below.

Some info that might help on general...
He can hit for up to 250 max (hit the cleric 3 times for that on first attemp), and can summon and cast knockback which is bad if you are the main tank. That can be solved...put your back to a wall and when he knocks you back you will stay there. Did this with my level 58 ogre warrior. He does summon while you are there but just back up as the wall is right there. Can bash for up to 160 damage with the shield he has (20 ac magic lore nodrop/norent).
He is unslowable/snareable/rootable, and hits fast and hard. Use a tank (say, for instance, me, a 58 warrior) and use defensive discapline. He can be taken out with 9 people. I was the MT even though there was a level 60 warrior there with epic(s). The party of 9 contained: 60 warrior, 58 (me) warrior, a 60 bard, 60 cleric, 60 wizard, 60 chanter, 60 shaman, and 60 rogue. I got the sword and the stats are killer.

Good weapon and keeps good agro while being a Main Tank and a good upgrade to a Frostbringer (in primary) and blood fire(in secondary). I know use the Ornate Sword of the General and the Frostbringer. Good luck all!!!!

Attack them with 2 or more at once

I have found that attacking the higher level monsters with 2 at once and swarming over them works well. Pull the lower level monsters out and kill them away from teh high level ones, then when only a high level monster is left, like the high level Dack, run up and both attack at once. Don't try and pull Dack out as he has a very very nasty punch, go in and attack him and don't give him the chance to recover and cast again.

I'm considering getting a group and go after The Great Saprophyte. Anyone know what the spawn rate is and and recommendations on taking it down....several times. Getting spell for some of the druids in my guild.

I've fought the Great Saprophyte on a couple of occasions. Based on early reports that he was a major undercon, we went in well prepared with a group of people who were around 50ish. Despite the rumors, he fell pretty quickly and wasn't much fun. However, he did summon some of the members, so be aware of that.

You get 5 faction hits when killing the general:

Faction with House of Fordel got better.
Faction with House of Midst got better.
Faction with House of Stout got better.
Faction with Recondite Bandits got worse.
.
.

I'm afraid I can't really remember the fifth one but I think it was faction with some smugglers and I know it was getting worse.

Lake Recondite Bandits is the other faction (its a negative faction hit).

I can't find anything that will raise either this faction or haven smugglers.

I'm a 12 lvl troll SK. Went to the trainer in Echo Caverns "Duke" Something I believe, he does not list the Meditate skill in his list of skills to purchase/upgrade.

Can someone else confirm this please?!?!

I petitioned a GM cause I thought it was a bug or something, he gives me some rubber stamp response like - "You will need to contact others of your class, I can not help you with this." Thanks, my dog gave a more intelligent answer, and didn't take 2 hours to do it.

They are called Arcane skills and none of the trainers here for any class will train you to use magic. I have no idea why, its annoying that my Iksar SK has to go all the way back home to train every couple of levels.

yes he does not have the meditate skill or any of the magic skills like conjure or divinate he only has weapon skills and fighting skills i think maybe he isnt a SK he just trains SK's or something that the only reason i can think of he wouldnt have any spell skills just a thought though

ok guys here is the scope scence they nerfed the general he has been a ***** let alone not really been able to be pulled or killed was just taken down tonight on terew marr and might i saw the guild leader was a genius here is how he did it we had 2 group with 55 + with one 52 me as the spare cleric and the monk pulled and the 55 warrior taged and brought the mobs and zoned them then when the adds walked away the generall runs back and kills the haven guards the warrior zones back in and starts tanking this is quite a long fight we had 4 or 5 melee's on him 1 57 monk a 55warior 60 rogue 57 pally and we had 2 or 3 60 wizzies nuking him was about a 10 minute fight and 2 55 plus cleric altenate CHing him and he is on a 24 hour timed spawn GL killing him the sword well werth it

what lvl is this mob ?
conned green to me 55 Paladin. So.... i thought i would give him a shot.
Damn thing summoned me a bunch of times,had it at 50% had to LoH. But it still killed me in the end cuz of knockback spell, causing more greenie adds aaarrrggghhh.
I ended up having rogue get my corpse :p. was wondering what this thing drops ?

gnomes in echo caverns seem to be on their own faction and not the ones on norrath. not sure if they are on the same faction as the ones in katta as I'm KOS there. killing them gives you negative hits to gnomes of below and gnomes of above. I know one of the kings has a drop. not sure about the others though.

We just killed Thatoneguy_00, figure it out =p ut anyways, we had 2 groups 55 + and took him pretty easy, had a 60 War tank, and also had a 60 cleric, plus others, he droped a Sword, Stats 10/18 5str 5sta 8wis 35hp War/pal/rng/sk/brd.
I am a Ranger so pretty good in my main hand paired with my Swiftwind, gl finding and killing him =)

They nerfed the general now. Just tried him tonight with 2 groups. They added a gnome enchanter under the stairs that will aggro. Not to mention the pathing, warping, and generally suckiness of it all made them impossible to split. He cannot be snared or rooted. All the guild masters came with him and left with him. We tried killing them off one by one, but the gnome chanter punches for 300 through defensive disc.

A damn shame they gotta ***** stuff up like this. Not too long ago, 4 people from another guild on our server killed him. Now 2 groups cant take him. Thanks Verant.

Lol Kaly it's yer guildie monky boy here.

We killed the protectors about 4 times before the general spawned. Tough fight if you are not an experienced group of peeps but easy of you are experienced. From what I've heard he has 35kish hps and you have to keep him out of the walls and don't let him fall off the ledge or the masters might jump in (all red to level 58 btw).

Anyway easy kill but it hurts your faction with the city which has a banker.

Those funky tentacle things in the walls what are they?

They are traps, there are two ways to avoid them:
1) walk carefully around them
2) have a rogue or bard sense and disarm them

They proc a root/lifetap that almost killed my level 25 enchanter who was doing the amulet of haven quest while my 51 bard simply resisted them so it is level based. They always see invis, or actually they are traps that you will spring even if you are invis, and will break your invis when you set them off. They can not be targeted (even when using sense/disarm trap on them) and can not be killed.

I wonder if anyone can fill me in about the wormspore? I found out that it attacks when I'm standing still in certain places, but not when I run through. I have not been able to target one, so I cannot attack it. In the posts below it is mentioned as a trap, but it stops attacking when I Feign Death, which seems odd for a trap.
So... what is it, can it be attacked, does it drop any loot perhaps?

Went through the area invisible and at a run, the thing still stopped me and sucked my blood. I tried for some time prior to con or target them and neither worked. Lvl 43 Shammy at present and they had no qualms about lunching on me.

He is level 55 with 32k hp. The sword is a 10dmg 18dly 5str 5sta 8wis 35hp 1hs NO DROP Lore magic.
he is easily defeated by a 55+ group.

We tried to kill this man last night with some Guildmates, and he depopped just after the beginning of the fight (no more than 1mn). We all got faction hit, but, of course, no corpse, and no sword ;). Does anyone know what happened?

Well he is blue to 58, we took him down tonight, and was about an 8 min fight. Just make sure you have healing and mezers to keep the other two on the platform mezzed. Having an evacer in each group helps to, so that after you kill him, and loot the sword, you can just evac out.

What faction are the NPCs in Echo city on? Would like to raise it, if possible. Merchant faction matters most - anyone know it? When i went in i was kindly to many (Dark Elf Necro of Innoruuk), apprehensive to others, dubious to some. Was my first trip to Luclin so i assume these are default factions. Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

I haven't seen anyone post this yet about the fireclaw guy, so I'll put it in. The fireclaw does indeed drop the carpace back slot, and the fireclaw, the monk/bst weapon. it has a 75dd proc that used to proc at level 1, but recently VI nerfed it. I'm not exactly sure which level the proc is now. Also, I read that some people are talking about where he spawns, well.. it's totally random. He is a random spawn at any of the underbulk spawns through the caverns... The way to get him to spawn is just generally to kill alot of underbulks... Fought him twice, once dropped the weapon, once the backpeice.. He cannot be snared/rooted, so get ready to melee. As a 44 shaman I had no trouble landing togor's on him after I got malisement to stick. Hope this helps.

I have been fighting him many time and I'm usly the puller. I pull him with my pally using stun. I all way get the message "The stun portion does not effect the Fireclawer" or somthing like that. I dinged 40 got same message but it got stuned. don't know if it was a fluke or what.
