This has been explained so many times, there are certain templates they use. They just pick a template. Allthough sometimes that can make stuff fun. I mean, especially for fooling around, or PVP - say my DWF CLR has a potion of ogre illusion. Now I can be an ogre with a whip. Or a shaman with an axe. etc.
for some usefull info, this thing sells to a vendor for 18pp and I must have been lucky. I had a player run past me looking a bit scared, and I asked if I could be of service. I cleared out the queen for them, and I got this for my trouble.
I dont quite understand the disease damage, if the mob is weak to disease, it will do an additional 2 damage? That makes the ratio a bit better though.
I typically notice the Queen spawning twice in a row for some reason, with a LONG delay after the second spawn.
Anyway, first two times I fought her, she dropped this peircer back to back, second two times, it was the wing back to back.
Bloody well wish they had have stuck with those changes they were going to make to Firiona Vie on May 8th, dangit, I would have liked having a Cleric and Necro running around, Necro with this and the Wing of course.
Easy kill, as long as you have a damage sheild, which is insanely important, and don't get swarmed/rooted by those horrible Wormspores.
I took my 54 Druid up to Luclin to buy a couple of Necro spells and to check the vendors for Words. While I was in Echo Caverns, I found a Needlite Stinger on a vendor for 130PP. Looked like something my Necro would appreciate, but thought I'd rather not pay 130PP for it. Checked my tracking and found the Needlites. One attacked me on the way there, and died in seconds with Winged Death. Since that one died quick, I just Regened and DS'd myself and let them do the work killing themselves. Cleared the cave in a few minutes. While waiting for respawn I checked the net and found out about the queen and the drop rate of the stinger. Beginning to think that 130PP might not be so bad after all :( Anyway, the second needlite to spawn was the queen. Root, DoT, Dead and she had the Stinger. Total camp time about 25 mins, with one clearing of the cave and one extra needlite spawn before the queen poped.
Good hunting to you all.

A very generous Rogue was handing out newbie dagger-class weapons last night in Kelethin, and I took my lvl 5 wizard over to see what he had. Much to my surprise, he handed me one of these Stingers, and really made my day! I'm sure I'll be using it for quite a while - maybe until the point I'm relying on magic entirely for offense.
The comraderie and generousity of players in Everquest is a large reason I'm enjoying the game so much. I make armor and give it away, and people are always helpful and fun to party with!

By the way, this thing is kinda rare. I have a bag and a half full of Giant Needlite Wings, but just one of these.
The queen spawns roughly once per four to six placeholders. Respawn time is roughly 20 minutes. She dropped the wing four out of five times. Dropped the stinger ONCE out of about 15 queen spawns (ugh, spent two whole days killing everything in North Echo Caverns).

It goes in both primary AND secondary, therefore it cannot be 2 hand piercing. If it was Primary only, then it could be either 1 hand or 2 hand, but since it goes in both, it has to be one handed.
There honestly is weapons like this class types can equipt , but never gain skill in, check out goblin slavers whip, nice for that mean look if you are a monk or cleric who want's to whip somone into shape =P
Shamans can use an Axe from the NFP Bards guild. Merchant in the back that sells the packs has em. And yes, Shaman can equip and fight with them, no skill in 1hs. And skill never goes up.
Just because they can equip it doesn't mean they can get skill in it - there were a few weapons Bards could equip without 2HS for a while, IIRC. But their skill was always 0 and would never go up.
However, I agree that adding it here is likely to be an error.
