The classic level 58 version of [a dracoliche] is VULNERABLE regardless of other mobs in the zone. To clarify, for the classic fear zone and level 58 spawn, the following statement is not true: "a dracoliche is INVULNERABLE until # mobs in Plane of Fear: Revisited of died." The INVULNERABLE statement is only applicable to the level 109 version of [a dracoliche] in [Plane of Fear: Revisited].

In addition, the following are only true for the level 109 version of [a dracoliche] in [Plane of Fear: Revisited]: [On a dracoliche death a chest spawns. Bony Remnants] and [Quest Group/Raid Expedition: Plane of Fear: Revisited]

I've been wanting to attempt this mob, but it is difficult to catch him up as much as Fear is farmed these days. I lucked out and caught him up yesterday. I was clearing mobs and he added to a pull (2 toads, 1 silverback, 1 nightmare). I figured I'd go ahead and give him a whirl. I ended up burning most of my mana killing the adds. Started the fight on him with just 20% mana. He is not undead, so slow did not work on him. I tried a couple dots from under his belly, but they were resisted. At this point, I ended up having to sit back and med while keeping my pet healed. Fight took a little over 40 minutes, as my pet (67 with VT focus and mage toys) was pretty much the exclusive DPS. A few times it got close on mana, so I'd use a HoT potion and take a few hits while medding on my horse. I lost my first pet, but thankfully I had a second one suspended (also with VT focus and toys). He ran at 4%. His hp are between 100-200k. He procs Deadly Lifetap like VS and Echo of Nortlav. I resisted most of these, but I am not sure how well my pet fared. Found out the hard way that Elixir of Replenishment does not work in Fear.

Caught him up again. This time I was prepared. Another pretty long fight because I let me pet do all the dps until he started running.

Was bumming around in the zone to see if I could wrap up my 1.0 epic for my 78 Necro and the dracoliche agro's on me. What a pain.

I let my pet tank mostly and I kept casting a Dot to back him up.

He has about 187K hp, counting whatever he regens since it was a long fight with my pet tanking. About 15 minutes.

7 casts of Ashengate Pyre did 54K damage.
Warrior Pet did about 133K. That included 2K non-melee from his mage weapon.

74 mage 204 aa's and some Arcstone+ gear here
I have killed this mob twice and I can confirm it does have a LOT of HP. Both times I was solo and the first time I unintentionally pulled him (was exploring for funs).

Not a pushover at all. My entire strategy for this mob was pet tanking and clicking the crap out of my mana robe hoping I can outlast this thing since it is a belly caster. Despite what people think, the mage's pet alone isn't god :)
I know people have probably solo'd this mob before and nowadays it's not uncommon at all nor anything to brag about but for the sake of info, here is what I found out.

Both fights took about 20 minutes each and the outcome was the same. I was able to use Elemental Swarm twice (once at the beginning and once at refresh), mod rod three times, Servant of Ro Twice and Mend Companion (highest level with fastest refresh) twice. I imagine 20 minutes is a good marker. I see other people taking him down in less with a lot less, but for a lonely mage it's better safe than sorry!

It seems to spend more time not attacking than actually attacking. I am not sure on if it is procing something, slow hitting or just plain casting with a massive mana pool (to no avail). Whatever the reason, it hits infrequently.

Only hits for about 500ish, but for a caster this is kind of harsh. The pet can take the hits without a problem. After all, he can't cry. With Granite Stance RK II, the 71 air pet lasts just about forever with hardly any healing.

He's a runner. This is in the single digit HP range, I think five. The first time he ran on me I got adds and had to abort the mission and try again. The second time I was smart and cleared out PoFear before he spawned so even if he did run around like a little wussy skellie dragon I'd be fine.

Just to note, a guildie that came in to 'help' at 10% hp could not land the DoN level 61 (-30) chromatic spell "Mire Thorns"...but was promptly made a sack of dead wood elf because it wasn't running yet. He was correctly positioned for a belly caster, too. Anyone else have luck landing snare on him? I see one post with a quick check for "snare" in this thread mentioning it did not land.

That's all I got, I am now the proud owner of the Berserker's Ring, a Fearsome Shield and the Zombie Flesh Bracer. Trophy time!

My guild tried a PoFear raid a little while back, and we pulled this guy. We had about 14 people - plenty of DPS, a couple good tanks, and a couple of healers. Average raid level was around 59 I believe.

This mob has TONS of HP. I'd estimate it took us about 4 minutes to bring him down, despite his unimpressive level of 58.

I believe we lost 1 tank and a caster to this guy. He has a relatively small hit radius (for melees at least), so be prepared to get in close.

Dropped 2 Berserker's Rings.

Well, I was bored tonight after raiding and decided to pay a visit to a zone I havent seen in years. Spent a few minutes killing trash before pulling this guy. He has a mess of hps now and hits high 500s max, although his chance to hit you is horrible. Its pretty much an endurance fight, had to pop a couple HoT pots but all in all it was pretty easy. The key is to dispell his damage shield as that was doing far more damage to me than his melee. The fight lasted about 12 minutes and in the end the loot sucked (2x zombie crap bracers) but it was a fun experience. Hope this info helps anyone who wants to attempt this solo.

bored, i went into fear other day and saw draco up without too many adds so i figured i'd pick a fight to parse his hp. Fully raid buffed 70 monk i fought him for about 6min, blew all discs, 2 potions and 2 epic click heals. I did just over 130,000 damage to him and fight ended with him at 34%. So i'm guessing he has about 180 - 200k total hp or else 150k and wicked regen.

i forgot his max hit and all that but i dont think it was much more than 1k if that

Im guessing 2 of the items for quest are:

Grotesque Girdle as above

Spiroc Wingblade

I would think these items are no drop.

Grotesque = stuff made from animals and such. So this im guessing is girdle made from bone.

and the Winglbade drops from Spiroc Lord.

Actually, grotesque = horrid looking or ugly. Things of an odd and disfigured stature. Not an exact definition, but you get the idea. It's probably just a really ugly belt =P

I know I'm responding to an old post, but what can I say, I'm just a pedant.

The OP's definition isn't that far off.

"of, relating to, or having the characteristics of the grotesque: as a : FANCIFUL, BIZARRE b : absurdly incongruous c : departing markedly from the natural, the expected, or the typical
synonym see FANTASTIC" -Merriam Webster Online

And the root:

"Main Entry: 1gro·tesque
Pronunciation: grO-'tesk
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle French & Old Italian; Middle French, from Old Italian (pittura) grottesca, literally, cave painting, feminine of grottesco of a cave, from grotta
1 a : a style of decorative art characterized by fanciful or fantastic human and animal forms often interwoven with foliage or similar figures that may distort the natural into absurdity, ugliness, or caricature b : a piece of work in this style
2 : one that is grotesque
3 : SANS SERIF" - Merriam Webster Online

Not a flame, just a clarification, on year old post. Yeah,I need help.

Went to Fear lastnight for an Amy Whip and this guy came stumbling in. =) Our initial thought was uh oh, but we took him. Fight lasted about 5 mins. We had 1 death. We had 3 groups of varrying levels 50+. Very exciting battle. He dropped the Crimson Robe, Zombie Bracer, and a Rune. The Robe went to a happy wizzy. Also was able to get an Amy Tendril before the night was through. Deffinately my best Fear experience.

As with anything slowable, a completely trivial encounter these days.

Broke fear with my ranger and chanter, 2 boxed. Loaded another window up for my cleric, pulled and trio'd him without incident. Could probably duo him with the ranger/cleric if I could get lucky with epic slow procs. Fight took a while, but really no idea how long.

Belt and bracer, exactly what I needed so I don't have to do this again!

your so full of crap..i had a full group, 70 SK 70 Pallie, 67 chanter and cleric..with a 68 Mage.
took us a full 10 mins of heavy nuke and melee.
no way you could trio it with a ranger.
RE: Difficulty

Did it today with the following:

70 warrior with 300AA, 12000hp
70 cleric with 300AA 7000 mana
65 enchanter with 100AA crap gear (still 2 pieces thurgadin)

Minor help from 60 shammy (buffs - couldn't land slow but chanter did) and 2 66 druids (were there to kite adds). Battle could have Easily been done with the first 3, assuming no adds.

68 necro who pulled and died shortly after from fright HT aggro after FD bug...did rez, and he helped (with his pet only) the last 15%.

Very easy nowadays. Fight did take some time, but was very simple with no incident, warrior never dropped below 60% HP, cleric never dropped below 75% mana.

Last night we took this lil fella down on Prexus. 17 people total, with a recently deceased MA ( Fright shouts Aritankz's corpse0!!1! ) Average level of raid was 63, lowest person was a 57 shammy I believe. We were having alternating pulls MA ( 65 Ogre warr, thanks again Ari ) and a 65 Monk ( Ecliptic, sorry the AoN went to a pos mage heh ), apparently Ari got too close to Fright's hill and took the DT, monk goes out we are ready in comes Dracoliche.... our MT was not found yet. So Jradak ( ty Jra ) took tank duties, 65 Frogger Warrior, went Evasive I believe and we started in. You have to be in melee range to cast spells, horses and drogs make this much easier. We proceeded to ch main, standard dragon battle, he has a trunkload of HP. Didn't notice too much ping pong aggro, 'cept when shammy slowed and I think crippled as well. Took all of about 8 minutes to get it deaded. Fire based nukes hit well, as well as Magic based. If you notice spells being resisted alot, try moving closer to him. He didn't resist much once I got in range. Anyways, Grats to all who got drops last night, and thanks for comin to the show. Appreciate it much peoples. Had a blast!!! - Zeikfreid, 65 Magi, Prexus Server

** Edit ** Forgot, he dropped a diamond, a words of <forgetthename>, the Shield and the Crimson Robe of Alendine for us. - Zeik

Ok so we are doing the golems for the warrior epic piece. Our cleric has Fright and his gaurds pacified. Im standing next to Fright on his little hill thing. Our tagger is in position i hit Fright, DTed...normal. I consent the monk to drag me so i can be battle rezzed....still normal. i here add while im sitting in the nexus, i think its a regular mob. All the sudden i see the guild start appearing in the nexus. Im like ok, this is weird he isnt that tough. So we got a cleric out and we get rezzed back in. And this guy popped at the exact time i pulled Fright. So we all get rezzed back in. We have no buffs and everyone is almost OOM. And this guy comes charging at our camp (no idea why) So we start fighting him, rez effects no buffs no mana. We get him to 80% with like 2 CH's and a few spot heals, a nuke or 2. Wipe again. So we rez in quick, buff up and kill this guy, then get our epic piece. Moral of the story go to chruch so stuff like this doesnt happen to you =D
