The god of fear himself, Cazic Thule, resides here in the Plane of Fear. Its rough terrain and bloodred sky are indicative of the horrors that await those who dare venture here.

Deathtouching golems, shadowstepping scarelings, mass-dispelling tentacles terrors and evil eyes, blinding nightmares, and other vicious creatures are just a few of the denizens which serve Cazic Thule, and which look to destroy any mortals foolish enough trespass into their realm.

Level 46 is required to enter the zone.

I was the only one in the zone so i know it wasnt EYE of ZOOM. All the years i been playing EQ and in this zone i just dont remember this Named mob. Anyone have any feedback??

Oh and this mob i seen isnt on the mobs list.

It was the Eye of Zomm.. Either the mage that cast it was OOR or invisible. Likely he cast it and gated out when he saw the zone empty.
PoFear after server maintenance
# Jul 16 2014 at 8:16 AM Rating: Decent
Server maintenance states all QUEST items are 100% dropped from now on. Is this just for the new, upcoming expansion?
I'ts 7:10 and server is due up in an hour. Hoping to be the first one up in PoFear before I start my day and take care of all 3 golems and maybe even Cazic Thule himself. Been hard as hell getting the Slime Blood of Cazic Thule (necromancer epic 1.0 piece) and everyone in the bazaar is Just ******* Stupid if they want to charge over 3k for it (and yes, theyre charging around 150k AND farming the crap out of PoFear too just for it). This is my last bloody piece needed but I might have to just skip it, do the prequest for 1.5 after listening to all the others who've cmaped the golems for days, weeks, months with no luck.

What gave these a-holes the right to not only camp all the golems but sell all the pieces for unobtainable amounts of coin???

I just don't get it. I have posted kill times and kept recording information. But this latest data just blows my mind.

7/7 ... 12:53 Fright
7/8 .... 5:25 Dread
7/10 .. 8:20 Fright
7/11 .. 1:18 Terror
7/11 .. 5:33 Dread
7/12 .. 5:01 Dread, Fright and Terror

How / why did the golems spawn today? The zone was not reset ( /uptime is 21 days). You can see Dread was less than 24 hours. Even going back to the earliest kill its less than 45 hours from Fright to Fright. Normally it seems they run 66 - 72 hours. I am totally unable to understand this.

Cleared the 3 golems at least 4 times now trying to get Slime Blood of Cazic-Thule for my necromancer so i can complete the necromancer epic. I have yet to see the gloves that i need. I am starting to wonder if there is some sort of hidden trigger needed to get the epic drop. Sounds stupid but there is no reason for the gloves to be so rare. I have had bad luck in Everquest before though so this isn't exactly surprising. Plane of Fear is almost constantly camped and cleared. It took me nearly 2 months to get the opportunity to clear the golems the 4 times i have. I have seen every other drop that the 3 golems can drop with the exception of the Slime Blood. I am not going to pay 150k+ for them in the bazaar.

On a side note if you do clear Fear and see drops. Don't just let them rot. Call them out in general chat or join each class channel and call it out. I usually join shaman channel and mention when the iksar broodling is up. Or warrior when ball of everliving golem drops or shadowknight when soul leech drops. Some times i get ignored but other times people come running to fear. I know a lot of people on the cazic-thule server don't do that because they are worried people will figure out the golems spawn time and lock em down but its bs letting epic drops rot. EDIT: 5 times. No slime blood.

Server came down unexpectedly. When they came back up i was able to kill one of the golems.. I think it was Dread. Of course it didn't drop the slime blood of cazic-thule. I figured i would ask the other person in the zone if they had seen the slime blood of cazic-thule. The person let me know that 2 of them were rotting. I was finally able to get the gloves thanks to that person and an extra pair as well. If i had to keep camping for the gloves. No way i would have gotten them any time soon.

Slime Blood

Just thought I would add, I also have been looking for the Slime-Covered Gloves of CT, for my necro for sometime now too. Got tired of trying to camp them, as the spawn time is so long, so I started trying to get them on server reset. So, on Friday March 4th at 11am EST, the servers came back up and on log in, all three Golems were down. Fright, Dread, and Terror. Whoever killed them did leave some loot on them, but no gloves. So, I researched the spawn time, and lots of post (and other sites) said 3 days exact. So, Monday at 10:00 am EST I logged in and waited until about 3 or 4 pm EST, no spawn. So they are not on an EXACT 3 day spawn.

Next best available info I found was 3 days +/- 12 hours. So assuming someone killed them Monday, I came back Wed at 8am to set up an early camp and saw Fright spawn at 11:30am. No gloves but I did send a tell to a warrior friend because the ball did drop.

Also, as of this posting I see them in the Bazaar for 250K PP, on Fennin Ro / CT server. I can confirm that Terror still doesn't DT, and the Shade of CT doesn't DT. Fright and Dread do still DT. If you downloaded the map pack from the map site, the temple labels are wrong still. Fright spawns at the Temple labeled Dread, Dread at Terror and Terror at Fright. Good luck for all those trying to get past the Necro Epic bottleneck here.

double spawns only work on mobs that have a ph. the golems have no phs. the extra name chances cannot affect mobs that .. are always named when they spawn. so if it has no ph - it has nothing to affect.

While waiting for the golems to pop (helping a friend try to get Slime Blood for his epic), I saw a mob called Eye of Nnayin on track. Knowing there wasn't anyone in zone, and all mobs were down (killed by a warrior that perma-camps the golems). I ran around frantically trying to find this guy. I could get right over it, but could never target it. I wonder if it is like https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/npc.html?id=20205" rel="external nofollow" title="https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/npc.html?id=20205">Nattop Ekim in Plane of Sky? Not sure how you're mapping this, but standing directly in front of the zone out /l gives "Your location is +860, +480, +123" (After ~30 minutes clicking trees at -480, -860..)

You're right, you don't have a clue. Here's a hint: Copy and paste to the .txt map file for this zone. /loc != map coordinates in the .txt files. Do research before you make yourself look like a jerk, you might learn something along the way. (Of course, in this case you learned something without actually having to do the research.)

PLane of Fear - entrance - exit - evac
# Dec 07 2009 at 2:03 PM Rating: Decent
The entrance area is NOT safe. Mobs wander right thru it. Some See invis.

The zone might be empty, it's camped a lot, so no problem, but it might be full of mobs.

Mobs have a LONG agro distance. Expect many adds. Be able to fight them or gate out.

The entrance is a one way gate. You can see it, but it will not take you back out.

There are 2 ways out of the zone.
1. Gate or port out.
2. The actual exit is in the tower in the ring of fire. Unless the tower has been cleared, it's almost impossible to use it. The tower has 3 or 4 levels, the exit is in one of the middle ones on the west side of the temple

Evac will get you to the SW corner. Lots of mobs around unless you've cleared them first or someone else has. A gate to somewhere else might be better than an evac for some people.

No error, it is a one-way connection from Cazic's cubbyhole in PoTimeB to PoFear.

Similar portals exist from PoTimeB to the homes of the other deities in that zone.

In this case, you might be able to get from Plane of Time B to Plane of Fear, but you can't go from Plane of Fear to Plane of Time B....

The portals behind each of the gods you fight in Plane of Time B will take you TO their home plane but not back:

Tier 3:
Terris Thule = Plane of Nightmares
Saryn = Plane of Torment
Tallon & Vallon Zek = Drunder, Fortress of Zek

Tier 4:
Rallos Zek = Drunder, Fortress of Zek
Innoruuk = Plane of Hate
Cazic Thule = Plane of Fear
Bertoxulous = Plane of Decay

Hope that helps

As an unbuffed level 66 druid I walked -- or zoned, rather -- into this place and got attacked by a scareling and a shiverback immediately upon zoning. Whatever, whatever... "a scareling hits YOU for 103" "a shiverback hits YOU for 141" I rooted and seperated, but by this time a little spider came out of nowhere and chased me all over the flipping hills. Within two minutes I was down to 55% health and had a train of approximately fifteen mobs which continued increasing in size the more I ran. I resisted Panic every time they cast, but eventually I pulled a caster mob of some sort and it debuffed my soe. Shortly after the debuffing, I got killed. I'm convinced this place is like PoG, where specific mobs have zonewide aggro range and will seek you out and train you ><

Lesson learned -- bring a friend to PoFear...invis wouldn't be a bad idea either. Just to warn you, the big red thing you zone in at cannot be clicked/ran into to zone out. According to my map, you have to go northeast, and I started making my way there when I realized it was surrounding by a wall of fire. Whether or not this fire-engulfed thing was the place where the zone-out could be found, I'm not sure, but you don't have much time to get to it if you wind up in the same situation I did.

By the way, I DID have a port memmed, I just didn't have any opportunity to cast it -- even when it was just the first two mobs.

when you zone in you head to the west wall, this is the "safe" spot, not really a safe spot, but very few mobs path to this area. standing at the zone in you would get over run very quickly by mobs, spiders in here have very large agro radius, level does not matter in this place, mobs will agro from 100'+ away and bring friends with them!!

zone in and drag any agro you have with you to the west wall, this will give you a bit of a rest to kill them, but expect more mobs to come still, watch for the fright guys when they die they have a chance to spawn ireblind imp, this guy is a pain....
Beware!
# Aug 21 2007 at 2:40 PM Rating: Decent
Plane of Fear is full of wandering mobs. FULL. They wander far and wide. FAR.

AA Evac spell does not work in this zone, but regular Succor / Egress does as well as all ports and other succor spells. Wizard versions same deal.

Some have higher agro range than others. Some see invis. None of the trash mobs have zone-wide agro like PoG.

You could get lucky and zone in while no mobs are pathing by, but if you just stayed at the zone in portal and killed everything that agroed you you would be killing something every few minutes for almost an hour. Until all roamers that path by there are dead.

Undead fiends, scarelings, toads, spiders, shiverbacks, warders and worry wraiths. That's just what wanders by the zone in area. Move to another area and you'll find roaming mobs of other types. The spiders and maybe gorillas have the widest agro range I think.

61 Druid can break Fear solo in about an hour if smart and prepared. The biggest challenge is if you have multiple scarelings at once, shadowstepping you all over the place. Then you have to split them. Druid splitting in Fear is Ensnare target mob near zone in, Gate / port out of zone, zone back in to single mob snared at zonein.

Definately a good idea to bring a friend, necro with rez is handy. See invis won't get you far though, even rogue hide doesn't work well in this zone without SoS AA.

There are two ways to get into the Plane of Time.

Back when you had to do the quest to get into Time, you would first enter Time from the Plane of Innovation. From then on, you could enter from the Plane of Tranquility.

This only gets you into the zone Plane of TimeA. To get into Plane of TimeB, you need to zone over from A.

There is no way to enter the Plane of Time from the Plane of Fear.
-------------------------------------------

In Plane of TimeB, there is a portal behind Cazic Thule that will transport you to the Plane of Fear.

Dunno about Golems, will post later if I ever find out. (supposed to be 72 hours)

Terror and CT do NOT DT, Fright and Dread DO DT.

soloing in fear
# Apr 24 2006 at 6:47 AM Rating: Decent
well i am wizard and when i reach lvl 65 i went down there and i quaded in fear .
what u have to know is the break in is a pain , have to bind urself outside near the portal caus eu ll have to gate many times .
plan is run on the left once inside ( have invis up ) one u are at the zone wall look behind u ll surelly have agroed some mob . root / snare / nuke to death before u get another add , cause there are lotta roamers around .
it will take u several times to kil all the roamers and stuff hanging around ure safe point , but u have time , zone is on a 24 hours timer ( except if cazik repops , it repops the whole zone from what i heard )

really fear problem is ONLY the break in , once u have a safe spot u ll be fine .just pull / snare / kill / med , it s easy .

anyway i just cleaned like 1/3 or half the zone cause all the right and top part is full of named u don t want to meet , like golems who can kill u with instant kill once they have seen u.

but it s fun , u can get cashloots and if u clean far enough u could find many friends wishing to help u kill a golem and roll for the aon , or whishing to loot stuff from him for epic .
RE: soloing in fear
# May 04 2006 at 9:11 AM Rating: Decent
i forget to say never try evac , i m not sure it even works , but there is NO safe spot in fear ... the safest is on the left once u enter ( south west corner ) , at the zone wall and there are roamers , but it s " best" safe spot in fear ... ok there is another safe spot with NO mob at all , it s right in front of u once u zone in , west side of the zone not far away from the fire wall ... but the travel from entrance to that area is definitly dangerous and u have 99% chance getting an agro on the way

good luck to all of u =)

Its even more difficult for a warrior to zone in and check if Golems are up and end up dying cause of the aggro..Sony do something...this is ridiculous..

I agree something needs to be done. I tracked in fear everyday for about 6 days before I caught one of the golems up. And of course there were 4 lvl 70s in the zone as well. Within minutes the golems were down. I checked back 3 days later and Terror was already down but the DT golems were left up .... for an hour tops.

Basicly you have to be really lucky to find one of these mobs up ... Still tring to get Slime Blood for necro epic
Does Evac work at all?

70 wizzy here and was in PoF last night along with a 70 warrior. Our first mistake was we didn't read up on anything about zone. Our second was we didn't stick together (not on purpose). In a matter of 30 seconds my warrior friend gets aggroed by half the zone, lol, so I start going after him to see if I can Evac us. Well, of course, I get aggro, which I believe included that imp along with some scarelings. So I start getting mezzed (resisted it a few times) which didn't last long, but slowed me down enough to get hit by several scarelings and a silverback or two. Somehow I was able to get close to my 70 war friend and got off a lvl 57 Evacuate spell, only it said it didn't work in this plane. I really wasn't paying attention to what it said (thinking I might have fizzled) and tried a few more times, but to no avail. Long story short, to save myself at 40% health I hit an AA instant gate spell to the Nexus, while my poor friend died. Question is, I've seen many messages here say that you can Evac and to have it ready, but I saw one a little later saying that you cannot. Is there some kind of Evac that works in this zone at all? Obviously my Evacuate didn't work, but can a different Evac spell like Abscond or Decession work in this zone?

I thought evac did work. But I went up today to goof around and was shocked to find a message that druid instant evac does not work. Which was a pain since I had 16 mobs on me and no other port spell loaded. Luckily I was just able to mem a gate and get it cast.

Hey I came to everquest during the PoP era, so I missed out on all of the expansions, but is there someone who can tell me the history of the zones? Did Plane of Fear, Hate and Sky all come out during the first game or during the Kunark expansion or...? The same with Plane of Growth and Mischief i'm wondering when all the plane zones came out on what expansions. Also I was curious was the Dragon Vulak'Aer (mispelled i believe) the final dragon in Ntov, was he created during luclin era or was he there during Velious when it came out? I would love a response back and Thanks to whoever responds to this

First off. This you will all learn if you played on the progression server.

Okay. First came Everquest, the original. It was just Faydwer, Odus, and Antonica. You had to beat Vox, Nagafen, and the dude in Kedge Keep to unlock:

Planes of EverQyuest! This was Plane of Fear, Hate, and Sky. You had to kill Cazic and Inny to progress toooo...:

Kunark!! From there, you had to do a lot of bull ****, and you unlock velious which introduced Plain of Mischief and definatly Plane of Growth. You had to clear both to progress ^_^

Vulak was put in when velious was released. He was a static spawn, and later changed to a ring event.

if i remember correctly... before any expansions (EQ classic) there were 3 planes. fear, sky, and i think hate. then, when velious came out, mischief was added, and i think that is when growth was added also. then was luclin.. new things in luclin included a new planet and a new class plus a new race. no new planes though. then, PoP came out, which brought many new planes. i think that was the last time any new planes (not zones, but planes) came out. this info is not 100%, but im pretty sure it is mostly correct. hope i helped :D
What's the story?

My family and I went in to PoF as we have never been there. Read all these posts for good info and felt ready. Being a monk, I zoned in first to check out the lay of the land. Well, the lay of the land was it was completely empty! Have I missed something that should have been done to trigger respawn of the mobs? Is it being redesigned? Thanks and Happy New Year to all.

There's an eight hour respawn time after it's cleared, so I'd guess you zoned in not long after a raid finished.

Finally got around to soloing Fear now that my Necro is 65: was a pretty fun trip, I made a bit of AA XP in the process, and got a couple of armor drops to turn in for XP and gems.

Basically I just zoned in, ran to the west wall, and FD-ed. Then I discovered there was a raid on, so I invised and camped out for the night :).

Logged back on the next day and started clearing out the mobs with a mix of fear-kiting and aggro-kiting along the west wall, using Embracing Darkness, Saryn's Kiss, Funeral Pyre and Invoke Fear. Initially it was tricky not to get adds and on the first pull I had to FD and lose the pet due to the three friends it brought along, but the more wanderers I killed the easier it became.

FD splitting some of the buildings was tough because of casters, but fortunately they don't hit too hard or nuke too hard by modern standards, so the worst cost was a dead pet and some sitting and medding before the next pull. Provided you take it slow and don't pull scarelings early on there's no real problem. Even then the scarelings only proc shadow step when they hit you, so provided they're feared or aggro-kited it's fine.

Got called for a raid before I had time to get too far into the zone, but I'd cleared out the south-west corner pretty well up to the Boogeymen (still trying to get the arms drop, since it would actually be an upgrade to my cheap gear) and had started clearing out to the north-west. All I can say is, the aggro pathing in the zone is very, very strange: sometimes mobs (particularly the few light blues) would walk right past me, other times they'd run from the limits of visibility and bring friends.

In a few places I also found that the mob wouldn't run towards me after I snared it: it actually ran away or stood still. I had to get close in to make it come towards me away from its friends!

All in all, it's worth a trip for a solo Necro: a moderately scary zone since much of the time it appears to be empty but you know if you put a foot in the wrong place then half a dozen mobs will come running... but provided you avoid aggroing the DT mobs there's not too much risk :). Of course, be ready for a nasty CR if the KoS Imp is up!

I tried to solo it tonight, a 66 mage.

Zoned in invis, no mobs in sight, ran to SW corner, still no mobs in sight. got message from Cazic Thule, thought it was a message like in Hate.

Died from a 32000 point DT from Fright.

What did I do wrong ?

They moved the safe spot, and as far as I can tell they never told anyone.

The new safe spot is now on the north wall, directly north of the ring of fire.

If you zone in invis, run north-east to the hourglass then head north to the fire, hug the fire to the north side, you should get there without aggroing anything.

Had a mini-raid wipe because we didn't know about the change, so I hope this helps someone.

Fear Raid Strategy
# Aug 03 2004 at 5:25 PM Rating: Decent
I wonder if someone could post a strategy for doing break-ins in the current plane of fear. With that beserker epic mob, it can be a real pain. Is there any spot within the zone that is agro-free? A safe spot for CR's? Also, is it better to zone in one character at a time and run to the break-in spot or better to all zone in. In the past if the entire raid zoned in, there would be hell to pay. Our guild did an attempt last week, and we all zoned in at once. We were doing ok at the zone in spot in clearing mobs but suddenly we were overwhelmed with dozens of mobs and we were wiped. This led to a five hour CR. We finally got three other guilds to come help us clear enough of an area to do CR's. Any tips would be great.

From my exp, ideal breakin group: all level 60+, prefer all 65. SK, cleric, Wizard/druid (for evac), chanter, +2 dps.

1) Send in level 65 SK first (invised). He'll run to zonewall, then call for the breakin group to enter. The group zones in and runs immediately to West zonewall (all invised).

2)If anything aggroes, kill it, if not, SK starts pulling. when the mobs start chain aggroing, chanter starts mezzing, and everyone assists MT on one. If you get more than 5 or 6 in camp, evac. Then port to feerott and run back and rezone in. Ideally, you will have killed a few before evac, reducing the numbers near zone in.

3) repeat steps 1 and 2 until zone in area is clear. Note, if imp is up, evac as soon as it gets aggroed, then wait a while before zoning back in.

If the Imp isn't up, then breaking Fear is not hard. Get a group of six PCs who can FD, including at least one or two necros for healing, and you're ready. Run to the zone wall, and FD.

Set up camp, pull mobs, kill mobs. If you get too much aggro just FD and wait for the mobs to wander off. If the non-KoS Imp spawns, just FD and move to a new camp spot where he won't aggro when you pull other mobs.

If the Imp is up, well, you're in trouble... the range on the AoE is so large that it's hard to find a safe spot to start killing trash where the AoE won't break FD, and killing the Imp without killing the trash first is just asking for a wipe.
