Beware of these nasty Gobbi
A little train of 3 or 4 can make fight hard, cause there always be 1 or 2 Wizard casting and casting and casting bond + varies 29th lev nukes...
We were hunting spectres, 42 Shammy, 43 Wizzy and 49 Ranger, we got a train of 5, and it was a TOUGHT fight!
Note for Wizzy 4 kit, DO NOT MAKE THIS WITH GOBBIES, oterwise YOU will be nuked!
Bye Zic. :)

DW Gob would OWN a Spec, just like Specs own SG's.
I once aggro'd one, and go chain nuked for 110, 104, 270, 304, 304, 200, barely made it to Sro alive, On the other hand I can solo yellow Specs.

I am a 46 Druid and went there with a 36 Ranger companion. First deepwater I killed spawned the tainted whom I dragged to the top. Aside from a few resist he was not difficult. The Corrupted spawned right out of his boots and scared the crap out of us. He was mean, bad, evil nuke casting rotten.. and his pet had over 1000 hps. Don't underestimate the power here. We both barely made it too zone with about 1 bub health each.. and he still had full health. So I never got the epic part and I could hear him laughing at us clear to Feerott

One of these jumped me(36 paladin) and a Ranger(37 Ranger) near the inn on the south side of the oasis. It conned blue so we were happy to help it find a permanent resting place. WRONG! In addition to nukes and healing itself with a seemingly endless supply of mana, it swatted us up and down the shoreline. The Ranger bailed when we were down to about 20% leaving me to try and finish it - it had seemed to have run out of mana at that point and am sure we would have beat it if the Ranger had come back. These really arent worth the fight unless you want a great challenge. Given the high cost of dying in this game I'm glad I retreated.

Finally got my corrupted shaman and I've learned a little trick about the tainteds. I had 3 tainted spawn before the proper one (meaning they didn't spawn corrupted) and I noticed something about the last one (that did spawn corrupted). The other three tainted had bow and arrow in there inventory and were shooting me with arrows. The last one had nothing in inventory and thus, wasn't shooting at me. Might save you time dragging them outside, as I was killing everything (other than tainted) inside.
How to kill

As these are placeholders (at the LR underwater tower) for the tainted aquagoblin, which in turn MAY spawn the corrupted aquagoblin in its spot, albeit rarely, I have some experience on how to kill these.

First of all, they cast magic based, cold based and fire based spells. So be sure to buff these resists.

They will not aggro you while in wolf form so be sure to have it on, and that will allow single pulls.

At level 54 (druid) its not all safe for me to kill these, and I have been knocked to below half health a few times. Luckily they run out of mana before I do, heh heh.

They are quite annoying when they fire arrows at you, interrupting your casts, but if they get pulled up to the island above you can hide behind a tree and not get hit by the arrows.

And they drop Opoline Helms quite frequently.. I saw about 6 in about 40 gobs drop it. I also saw three tainted, and none of them spawned the corrupted, sigh.

Do NOT underestimate these goblins! These guys are MUCH harder than spectres, which fall within the same level range.

My group last night consisted of a 51 Necro, 46 Necro (myself), and a 39 Druid. We (the two necros) allowed the druid to pull, not knowing his level. He's a close friend, and for some reason we had lost track of the fact that he was under level 40.

He pulled the entire camp back to us on the shore. We proceeded to get our asses spanked sideways. In the end, we won, but the druid lost his life midway through the fight (both necros were feigned, OOM, and petless).

In the end, we had 5 (or 6?) dead gobs. Only one of the gobs had the Opaline Helm for my bard twink.

These gobs will nuke your *** into oblivion. Don't make the same mistake we did. Get someone in the upper 40's or higher to do the pulling or you'll quickly grow to regret your decision.

If you are planning to hunt these mobs, be prepared. Two of the caster types almost killed my 53 monk last night (both green cons). Mended and had to feign. Didn't kill either one.

They do see thru invis, just find a druid and go in wolfform and you can get the rod without a problem.

Opoline Helm
# Mar 01 2000 at 11:00 AM Rating: Decent
It seems really random - we got like 3 in a row, then none for 10, then one every three... maybe it drops only from a specific type of DW goblin, not sure. Or maybe it just -is- that random. :)
Quest item
# Mar 01 2000 at 11:00 AM Rating: Decent
FYI, the Opoline helm for the Bard Lambent armor quest is dropped from these creatures. Seems to be relatively rare -- we killed about 10-15 before one finally dropped, and then we went on to spectres which are far more fun to hunt :).
Variable classes...

I used to think they were all shamen, because of the popular pet hunting. But it seems you see just as many wizards and warriors among them. Was fighting them with a lot of stunning as a precaution against casting, so didn't matter a whole lot. As a side note, their loot is awful. Think, 'scrawny gnolls'. Hunting bows, arrows, and rusty/bronze weapons. Funny thing is, instead of charging in to do double 80s, sometimes they'll hang back and shoot you for 14 or so with the bow. Heh.
