This does not just drop in the Warrens. The night that Warrens went live, I looted this off of a decaying Skeleton outside in the Paineel Newbie zone. I guess it's possible someone gave it to the skelly, but I kind of doubt it.

Yes SKs have always had piercing and this one would be one handed piercing. Like most one handed piercing weapons this one also goes in the range slot, ask a shaman if you never knew big weapons went in the range slot. And it's a decent newbie weapon really, same stats as a cracked staff and once you outgrow it or get a large collection of them vendors pay over 2plat for em.
