You need a fire beetle eye for a level 3 ranger spell, Flame Lick. At level 3 you are most likely in the tutorial. Yet, this item does not drop from any of the mobs in the tutorial nor have I found it on a vendor. You can run to CR to buy one, but it would be nice if SoE would make one available in the tutorial either on a mob or on a vendor....

Klaknak Warriors in Misty THicket drop this as well, not just the prince/princess.
My ranger was hunting for these for my newbie druid. I started in East Commonlands, which has always been fire beetle central. I tracked zero fire beetles, zero large fire beetles and only 1 giant fire beetle in the whole zone.
I checked allakhazam for other zones they appeared in. So I hiked it to North Qeynos. Voila! I tracked about a half dozen in the first few minutes, and walked away with about 4 fire beetle eyes.
It looks like North Qeynos is the new source for the eyes.

I have to use this in my research for spells. To make the practice ruins for my necro. I have been having a hard time getting a lot of them at one time. What is the best zone to go to, so I can farm them?

I have spent the past 3 days looking for just ONE of these!! I must have killed atleast 1000 Spiderlings looking for this! WHY!? Why must they make everything so rare that only SUPER RICH MULTI - PLATNIUM PEICE people have it!? I WANT MY EDIBLE GOO!!! Where do I go to sign up for EQ Wellfare?

Try killing a fire beetle. Spiderlings don't have 'fire beetle eyes". They have spiderling eyes. If you go to N. Qeynos in the yard you will probably find several rotting. You will probably find some for sale on a merchant near the newbie area.

Yes, fire beetle eyes, made my day light up in my second range slot, Shadow Knight Ogre Rallos Zek deity.

Another location to buy this is Misty Thicket. There is a vender just before you enter Rivervale in one of the huts that sell this item.
This item is also used by Rangers (once they can cast spells, that is). It's a component for the Flame Lick spell, which is a very minor DoT with a slight debuff to, I believe, AC. I use this spell constantly. It's great for making it easier to hit mobs that I seem to have trouble hitting for one reason or another.
Also, as a very young player in the game, especially in one of the newbie zones that has fire beetles, this makes an admirable free lightsource. (Generally you can find a fire beetle body that someone has simply left laying on the ground unlooted and get an eye early on.) I always used them until I could kill a wisp for a lightstone or afford to buy one.

If I'm not mistaken, a fire beetle eye is also needed for the later spell upgrade to Flame Lick. Immolate? I think that's what it's called. I haven't played my ranger in a good long time.
Yes, you need this for Immolate, which I use still,as a 57 ranger.

Yeah I love firebeetle eyes.. used to gather tons of them to sell with my dark elf warrior, and still to this day I usually take a bag of them with me when I am going to GFay so I can have something to give out to all the people who shout.. WTF are Fire Beetle Eyes.

Greatest Item in the game, wooooo! Show me some more of that phat lewt =) Really, at lowbie levels selling these things are big money =) Enough to buy food and water. A lvl 46 druid and i still carry one of these with me. (Immolate =P)
