I can confirm the level 55 turn-in is functioning as of 2024 on Oakwynd TLP server, which is currently in LoY era.
I handed 500pp to Bor and he provided the necessary sewing kit and class emblem without issue.

Each class gets a specific suit of armor by talking to Bor Wharhammer. This is for classes that wear leather.
Bor Wharhammer says 'Greetin's t'ye! Isn't the area 'round 'ere so nice an' quiet? Such a departure from me old days; slaving o'er the forge t'create masterpieces! T'be 'onest, at times I do miss the old forge, but after I created me finest breastplate, it seemed as if nothing else I made could ever live up t'it. So I left me home to'wander the land an' see what I could learn o'the world. I 'ave learned quite a bit from the elders 'ere an' the skilled craftspeople in New Tanaan. I 'ave even devised a type o'emblem that will impart the magic o'tranquility into the user t'create planar armors from pieces o'energy found in the planes.' You say, 'What emblem?' Bor Wharhammer says 'Well, the emblems dinnae be easy t'craft but I will gladly give ye one fer the price of 500 platinum pieces. They allow a planes traveler with no craftin' skills t'create many fine pieces o'planar armor in a special, magical kit I also 'ave an' will throw in with the price. The kit acts as a focal point fer the wild magic energy o'the Planes. Ye will only be able t'use each emblem an' kit once when ye create the piece, 'owever I dinnae be goin' anywhere soon! Just venture back when ye need another an' dinnae ferget the coin!' You say, 'What about leather?' Bor Wharhammer says 'Leather armor provides little protection due t'the make-up o'the materials. We shall do our best, 'owever, t'see ye make a quality piece. T'do so, ye must combine a pattern, an emblem, various pieces o'cured ethereal energy an' a Tanaan embroidery needle all within a sewing kit boilin' with magical energy. The cured energy may be problematic fer an unskilled craftsman, 'owever. Just sew two silk ethereal swatches together using a Tanaan embroidery needle within a Tanaan loom. I can just imagine yer next question t'be about swatches, aye?' You say, 'What about swatches?' Bor Wharhammer sighs at you. 'T'make a swatch, ye need t'combine two strands o'ether along with a curing agent in a Tanaan loom. Ye will need t'seek a skilled brew master t'make the curing agent fer ye. Just 'ave them create it by using two celestial essences, soda an' paeala sap.' Handing Bor 500 pp will get you an emblem specific to your class and Druzzil's Mystical Sewing Kit, an 8-slot container useful only for ornate or elemental patterns. The ornate patterns drop in various zones. Basic recipe is: appropriate ornate pattern, tanaan embroidery needle, appropriate class emblem, 1-3 swatches of cured ethereal energy, combine in Druzzil's Sewing Kit. My alt enchanter just dinged level 55, and she has the robe and the pants. I was stoked that she was at level to do this quest, and when I spoke to Bor with her, he stated that she lacked experience in the planes. She has no planar flags currently, but has hunted in PoN and PoI. I'm guessing she will need the tier 3 flags also.
Is this correct? I"m kinda peeved she can't do the quest. Anyone know the quickest way to get her flagged and able to do the quests?

I'll never understand why people make such a fuss about ornate. 90% of it is useless in comparison to DROPPABLE gear of the same value. Maybe worthwhile if you win a roll on it, but you could still just sell the mold /pattern and buy something of equal effectiveness. Granted, there are some items that have nice effects (enchanter legs, for example), but by far, the majority is just not very good.
Buy a piece of droppable gear and augment it. Sell it when you upgrade. Heck, you can even remove the augment and put it on what you upgrade to now. Maybe we'll see ornate appropriately valued when people start doing that.

here it is 2 years later, and nope! ornate is still crazy expensive. and there is stuff much, much better available now, much of which s dropable. and, yeah, the unique effects are still the exception.

Ok so I went and bought my pattern, needle, and cured etheral energy. Headed for PoT all happy about getting my first piece of ornate....and the NPC is not there!!!
This sucks...cause I sold my old boots to get the last bit of PP for the pattern...f@#$ing SOE reset the NPC's already I want my boots!!!!

dude relax, he wanders aronud the 4 buildings. the building with the Pok stone, and hte other 3 ones that mkae up a flower looking thing.
Actually, he never wanders. However, when the DX9 patch first was released, he, among other mobs, was spawning beneath the world. hes been fixed, but I ran into a skunk beneath the ground in plane of mischief last night.
well then i guess he can teleport cuz last night i saw him in the building opposite of hte one with PoK stone, while 2 days ago he was in the building to the left of PoK stone, and yet still, last week when i went to get ornate armor he was in building to the right of the building with PoK stone.
Also: my bst is lvl 46 and has PoJ trial done and a few other flags, behemoth...grummus...need 1 medallion for bot key, and i still can't get ornate, says i need more experience, can anyone help me with info,? thnx

A few patches ago they made level 55 the minimum to get ornate armor.

Actually, you can still get it with flags at 46, but need the tier 3 flags. HOH, BOT, Tactics. Also, s far as I know, the key won't work, you need the full flags.

To get Ornate gear for a beastlord or any class for that matter, what lvl do you have to be to complete this quest and get gear? I'm looking to get the Ornate Leather Boots
As low as level 46 and flagged for BoT or level 55 with no flags.

You have to be at least level 46; that is you need to be able to zone into PoTranquility to talk to Bor.
That's incorrect.
You need to be 55. Or, to be lower, according to some folks in Xegony's tradeskill channel, possibly keyed for BoT.

i have the ornate pattern , the emblem the 2 swatch the tannen neddle and the dizk sewing kit and it will not combine , is something wrong , i have tryed to petitiion for days but noone every gets back to me ???? can some one help ?? i am no teh drinal server
What pattern, and what symbol? kinda helps to know what combine you are trying.

I bought the boots to upgrade my elysian. Stat wise there about even, but mana preservation will help me out a little.

how do we know how many swatches we need to combine with the item (aka i am making the leather tunic for a monk) do i need 3 swatches or just 1??
This was posted a while ago, but in case anyone else is still wondering. The combine will only work and consume the components with the correct number, so why don't you just try 1, then 2, then if necessary 3? It's been a long time since the combine button ate your components whether or not you had a valid recipe.

Most ornate drops in BoT. Tunic and BP patterns drop in the towers, legs off the mini's in each wing. Each drops a certain piece. All the rest are off certain rares and a few pieces only drop in PoTactics and Sol Ro. You can do these quest at 55 without any flags, not sure if they can be done lower with Flags or not. Only seem to need 1 cured ethereal per piece except for tunic and legs, other types require 1 for bracers, 2 for gloves, helm, arms, boots, and 3 for bp and legs.

hi, just to let you know i got my tunic pattern in BOT *** my skill is not high enough to do silks i bought mine in the bazaar for 300pp.It took only 2 to make tunic.Also I only have 1 flag and thats for tactics,but at lvl 64 i caan fight in most zones, hope this is of some help =)

Not to say that all Ornate leather gear sucks cause it doesn't but I find for the druid side of things the gloves, Helm , and boots do. I'd much rather stick with my Elysian Armor which is MUCH easier to get as a druid then the Ornate Leather Patterns. The only thing I see as better with the Ornate leather gloves, Helm and Boots is it has effects. statwise though it's not worth it. It would be nice to see an upgrade of those items for all classes.

So i finally got my 52 monk flagged for Tactics, a tier3 plane. i go to the guy and he says i dont have enough experience... So i guess tier3 doesn't work anymore...

I have complete the ornate silk pants at 55 so I would believe it should be the same for the rest of the Ornate molds. You can verify this by asking Bor "what emblem." Under 55, he tells you that you need more experience.

I just tried to hand 500 plat to the NPC with a 54 druid with no flags and he handed it back to me saying I didn't have enough planar mojo to handle the quest. I don't know what flags are needed but it obviously takes something more than what I've got.
I had full flags on my twink beastlord and he was not able to get anything from Bor until he dinged level 55. So, yes, you only have to be now 55 to use ornate.
No flags, just level 55. My lvl 57 (at the time, 58 now) cleric has two pieces of the plate, and had no problem getting the cleric emblem at 57. Note he has NO FLAGS at all. None, zip, not even PoI factory. As soon as you can zone into the previously flagged zones of PoS and PoV (lvl 55), you can also do this quest.

The Beastlord helm's stats are as follows.

I see leather Helm available in the bazaar and its DRU/MNK/BST yet only the DRU one is shown in the quest. Anyone have informations on the others (I would be concerned with BST the most =)

As of maybe two patches ago... they changed the flag req for this quest...
I just did the combine with the ornate leather bracer and legs with a druid at 55 who had absolutely no flags what-so-ever...
So, while ur fine at 62... id say anyone interested in ornates without the proper lvl or flags to actually aquire the patterns (i.e. purchased, traded for or passed onto a twink)... go to bor... hail him... see if he gives you the quest... if he does... then ur gtg! :-D
If i could do it at 55... i wonder if it could be done lower... (lol... imagine lvl 46 twinks running around in full ornate *shudders*)

Yes, you still need to be flagged for a tier 3 zone to have Bor talk to you so that you can make the Ornate pattern combines.

Flag for killing Terris Thule and being able to enter Torment wasn't enough. I had to finish the BoT quest then he would reply to the key words. It's possible a flag from a Torment event might allow it, I don't know. Flags at time of failure to get reply: PoN-B, Torment(TT kill), PoV/PoS.

Doing the "Save Phanti" quest to get into Plane of Torment allowed me to get the leggings a couple days ago. Don't have BoT, HoH, or Tactics flags yet either.
Yes, a friend was about to get him to talk to her with only the 'Save Phanti' quest access. I suspect the reason I had problems might be from not talking to Thelin in PoTranquility after killing the Construct of Nightmares and Terris Thule, even though I could zone into Torment.
Edit: Since this thread was posted the way to get into a number of zones changed and later so did what's required for this Quest and the other ornate armours. It's now possible to do them at 55th level. I'm leaving in the old information just in case they change back to the old way sometime in the future, not that likely but it doesn't hurt to have extra information.
