    You say, 'Hail, Kaza Raj'

Kaza Raj says 'Ah, greetings! I am Kaza Raj, trainer of young Vah'shir! Bring me the items I ask and I will reward you with pieces of armor to protect you in your travels. I have a fine pair of [gloves] available now if you're interested.'

    You say, 'What gloves?'

Kaza Raj says 'Great! Let's start with the gloves then, shall we? Gloves, yes indeed - I will give them to you if you go out and kill Cht'Thk Bloodlings. Bring me four Sharp Bloodling Mandibles as proof of your deeds.'

The Sharp Bloodling Mandibles are a somewhat uncommon no-drop item from the Cht'Thk Bloodlings in the area. It takes patience, but the gloves are probably worth it.

Kaza Raj says 'Excellent! Here are your Gloves! Would you like to get a [Bracer]?'

Your faction standing with Guardians of Shar Vahl has been adjusted by 15.

    You say, 'What bracer?'

Kaza Raj says 'Ah yes, a Bracer, I'm sure I have one here somewhere. I'll look for it while you do me a service. Skeletal Brigands and Hunters have been endangering our young ones, seek them out and bring me four Broken Skulls!'

Skulls drop from Loda Kai Brigands and Loda Kai Thugs, as well as reported to drop from Skeleton Hunters and Skeleton Brigands. Turn in 4 for your bracer.

Kaza Raj says 'Excellent! Here is your Bracer! Would you like to get some [Boots]?'

Your faction standing with Guardians of Shar Vahl has been adjusted by 15.

    You say, 'What boots?'

Kaza Raj says 'You are doing fine work, I'm so pleased to have met you! I'm confident you can help me again if you're interested. The guards have mentioned a problem with Shades roaming too near the city. I'd like to see if we can do something about that. Go and kill Lesser Shades, and bring me four Shadowed Claws and I will give you some boots as a reward!'

Turn in 4 Shadowed Claws to receive boots.

Kaza Raj says 'Excellent! Here are your Boots! Would you like to get some [Sleeves]?'

Your faction standing with Guardians of Shar Vahl has been adjusted by 20.

    You say, 'Sleeves'

Kaza Raj says 'Have you seen the Loda Kai in your explorations? They are a great menace, oh very bad indeed! They're nothing but criminals and brigands, ooooh how I hate them... Fetch me four Loda Kai earrings and I shall give you some fine sleeves for your trouble!'

Turn in 4 Loda Kai Earrings to receive sleeves.

Kaza Raj says 'Excellent! Here are your Sleeves! Would you like to get a [Cap]?'

Your faction standing with Guardians of Shar Vahl has been adjusted by 25.

    You say, 'What cap?'

Kaza Raj says 'Excellent work dispatching those Brigands! Now seek out Loda Kai thugs and return with four Insignia, I shall give you a useful cap if you serve me well!'

Turn in 4 Loda Kai Insignia to receive cap.

Kaza Raj says 'Excellent! Here is your Cap! Would you like to get some [Pants]?'

Your faction standing with Guardians of Shar Vahl has been adjusted by 25.

    You say, 'What pants?'

Kaza Raj says 'Hmm, you are growing more mighty as time passes - Kill Saurek Claw Beasts and bring me four fangs, I have most excellent pants if you succeed.'

Turn in 4 Saurek Claw Beast Fangs to receive the pants.

Kaza Raj says 'Excellent! Here are your pants! Would you like to get a [Tunic]?'

Your faction standing with Guardians of Shar Vahl has been adjusted by 20.

    You say, 'What tunic?'

Kaza Raj says 'A breastplate shall complete your set! Bring me four carapaces from Cht'Thk Bloodbulks and I will give you a wonderful tunic.'

Turn in 4 Carapaces to receive the Tunic. They Drop off of Cht'Thk Blood Bulks.

    Hand-in dialogue+faction reward needed.

Same name as in there are Kerran named Ghulam? I think you are correct. They do still remember there ancestors a bit. They actaully call them Shir though. They still a tale about Taruun, the first scout of the Shir tribe and they named their scouts after them. The Vah part in Vah Shir comes from king Vah Kerrath who was their king when the "Shifting" accured which was when they were blasted from Odus.

Has anyone seen these? I have hunted all over the eastern half even tried killin swarmers to seeif i could make them spawn (someones suggestion). I've seen one.

This is a great quest for newbies. You get about 60 HP and decent AC AC is a couple points about 3 less than grayhopper hide armor, but you don't get the hp with the GH armor.

It's too bad they made the bloodbulk so rare that its nonexistant.

I had 2 or 3 of these guys jump me near Sentry Kedra Kai at the crossroads when I was too little to do anything but run or die. Today I happened upon one in the NE part of the zone and he was an even con to lvl 14 bard. I had to kite him a while (bards are NOT tanks)using Selo's and Bellow but did manage to take him down. He hit in the mid to upper 20s and he dropped the carapace. I hope it's not several more levels before I see another as the tunic is the last piece I need for the Guhlam set.
    Hope this helps.
    Peace

I have seen two, when they were red to me, and I was just trying to kill needle claws and bloodlings. This morning, when I felt ready to undertake the carapace quest, and becuase I had completed all the others, I sepnt six hours trying to figure out how to make them spawn... I killed every swarmer and bloodling I could find... didn't work. I had someone else help me to kill every swarmer and bloodling we could find... didn't work. We did managae to rid the zone of swarmers and bloodlings for a substantial period of time, though. Can anyone help?

The legplates are usable by large races. My DE SHAD just turned in 4 fangs rather than destroy the things, just to see what would happen and got a pair. Faction is indifferent.

    # Feb 21 2002 at 1:05 AM Rating: Default
Doesn't it seem that this quest is given out in a funky order? By the time you've gotten 4 Broken Skulls, the second part of the quest, you've collected several packs full of Shadowed Claws, the third part of the quest. And it seems to continue this way with the rest of the steps. Those whacky kids at Verant just love to keep us scratching our heads.

The ghulam bloodbulk tunic stats as follows :
AC 13 +20 hps . A HUGE waste of many many hours over 2 week period . Killed 9-10 bloodbulks in that time to get 4 carapaces to drop . The last I blaze any new trails on my own with rare spawn , rare drop quests in EQ . You think i would have have learned my lesson with the crook of the jaggedpine.....

I do agree that more often than not, Verants makes quests impossibly hard to obtain only to find it ends in disapointment.. or Failure *like with the Champion Cloak quest given by Sentry Fenin*.
Everquest has become pretty blind to the fact that the Quests are becoming obsolete and the drops are becoming more and more popular. Sure there are GREAT quests at times and even better ones at higher levels but if your a roleplayer trying to progressive level up. It can be very frustrating.

Back to the topic. The tunic DOES have advantages since its no drop..... PVP servers have the pleasure of not getting it looted. other than that... just head over to EC and pick up a better low level tunic for 25-50 plat like Lockjaw or something.

My beastlord has let enough of those earrings rot to do the quest ten times. He has the sleeves, and is wering two earrings. Once you start hunting Loda Kai regularly, you will find the drop reasonably common. The rarest, in my experience, are the "remains" and the "insignia" (only drop from thugs).

Yeah, the "insignia" only dropped off thugs for me, but the "remains" dropped from both thugs AND brigands.

(Doh! I guess I could've been clearer about that. I've had that happen maybe ONE in, I don't know, 30 or 40 brigands -- not like it happens all the time or anything! But the double drops (insignia and remains) from the thugs has been a little bit more common than that. Just that the brigands dropping both a skull and remains is not really common, but it DOES happen.)

I completely agree. My Beastlord is wearing the same Ghulam Armguards/Loda Kai Earrings combo, too. At some point, the earrings will drop in numbers that will enable you to go for the quest and keep or get another pair for wearing.

However rarely it may happen, the Loda Kai Remains CAN drop off both the Loda Kai Thugs AND Brigands. I have even had the Remains and the Insignia drop at the same time off Thugs; the Remains and the Broken Brigand Skull drop at the same time off Brigands.

Not that is matters a whole lot, I guess. You should just kill them all, and let the loot sort itself out. Heheh.

Nice to know that it can happen, since I will be bashing them all with equal glee anyway, but not really a big deal, I guess. Somebody would think it was unusual if it happened to them, but you have already noted that it can happen. Otherwise, I would not single out the Brigands hoping for the Remains, and would kill all the Thugs instead.

The Bloodling Carapace is used in the Whisperling quest. You will ultimately need eight of them to complete the Frostweaver's Shield - AC:4 DEX+1 SVCOLD+4 MAGIC NODROP. Good quest with a lot of NO RENT items involved, but results in a pretty nice shield.

You can use eight of the Bloodling Carapaces in a shield frame that you can get from Master Barkhem in the Armory to make a decent little shield without going through the whole Whisperling quest, too.

You may be able to get the frame from Master Barkhem for free, as someone else posted here, but I have not tried that.

As a side note, reading the quest says that 4 carapaces get you a ghulam tunic. reading the posts, that is AC13 +20 hp and probably very very low wt, which I am NOT too spoiled for :P Anyone have any idea why monks aren't included in the allowed classes? All Vah Shir except monks can wear this ultra-low weight gear??

... IF you can, please AVOID training these apparently very rare Bloodbulk spawns to the guards or the fire dancers, etc.

Just an idea, but if there are sufficient people in the zone, everyone should try ganging up on these when they DO pop, and then roll on the danged carapace after it is dead.

Just too few of these around to let the guards have the kills.

BUT if your life is at risk, hit your /yell hotkey and then beat feets to the guards.

I guarantee you that if I am around, I will try my level best to get to you and help.

Even the reading impaired could see that the two sentences in italics carry the majority and the weight of the message here. Though I've got to agree with you about the bold text. It's a little bit too much.

One question for you, if you don't mind. Why post anonymous when you're criticizing someone else's style? Too easy to discount your argument, in my opinion.

Okay, and another question. Why is that so many people just HAVE to use "WTF" all over the place? Everybody knows what it means and using it distracts some readers who don't approve of it and would rather not read it either.

And (I'm on a roll now, don't try to stop me!) you can't "distract reading," but you can distract a READER.

    Just an opinion. ;p

Geez, Mr. Anonymous. You ARE a little off the mark, aren't you? You'd be the first to criticize this person if he DIDN'T help you when you were in trouble, but you slam HIM and not the idea he was presenting.

IF you don't like a person's idea, then how about you please restrict your comments to THEIR IDEA and tell us why you disagree with it.

It's both pointless and immature to make insinuations about the person's playing style to shore up your argument.

Now, YOU have a nice EQ day.

Actually, I do believe that I said to train to guards if your life is at risk.

And no, I was not joking, but I was in error. After looking for these apparently very rare Bloodbulks for some time now, I am of the opinion that they simply will not be found close enough to any guards for that to be a concern at all. So, forget what I said about not training them to the guards, etc.

However, my original intent still stands as an option for anyone who comes across one of these unawares. Please do use /yell to try to get some help with it, whether you stand your ground or flee. And take a /loc, too, so you can get back to recover your corpse.

No, I do not sit there doing nothing and waiting for others to train to the guards, but I do have to bank, sell loot, and interact with quest NPCs. All of those activities bring me to or into the area of the guards, etc.

Too bad you posted anonymous and did not share your in-game name and server. If you were in trouble in Shadeweaver's Thicket on the Saryrn server, Abufazzar would make it a point of coming to your aid, if for nothing else but to show you that some people in this game do help others whenever they can.
    Bloodbulks to rare spawn

The Cht'Thk Bloodbulks are imposible to find, I've asked around in the zone, and only a few ppl have seen and killed at least one, and then it often didn't drop the carapace needed for the quest.

I've spent the better part of my day running up and down the eastern half of the zone without seeing a single one.

If you ask me Verant has made this mob a to rare spawn and drop for a quest of this low a level.
I've seen several times when people asked what a Bloodbulk was because they were told find and kill them for the quest, only to be answered by a dozen other people who thought that that person had seen one walking.

There's a lot of people who want to find them, and only a few who actually have seen them.

I'm getting sick and tired of running around looking for a mob that won't spawn or walks around on the western side of the zone.

I'm gonna bring up my lvl 25 ranger, and letting him track around, to see where these things are hiding.
If I can't find them, I'll take down one of those Cht'Thk Ash Beetles, which walk around on the western side, and see if they have the carapaces needed.

Okay results were....well disapointing to say the least.

After getting my ranger up to Luclin, and into Shadeweavers, I couldn't find any Bloodbulks, so I went wandering the western side of the zone, none there either.

The Ash Beetles do not give the carapaces needed, just plain old rhinobeetle carapaces.

After that I wandered a bit trough the caves, and met up with a Vah'Shir I met the day before, once out of the caves I managed to find a Bloodbulk on track, my friend killed it and looted the Carapace.(Wood Elves can't use the reward anyway)
After that I stayed for an other hour but did not find an other Bloodbulk.

NOTE: this is the important part, Cht'Thk Bloodbulks do not look like the other Cht'Thk beetles (Bloodling, Swarmer, Ash Beetle), they look like Stoneclaw Diggers, kind of bug that lives in the caves of Shadeweavers.

Oh yeah, you are not kidding on these guys... very rare is true. I have been all over the Eastern half of that zone and I have only seen one, North of the tents & buildings area by a bit. It was an add at the tailend of a fight and killed me easily at level 8.

Worst thing is, unless Bloodbulks are slightly more common in the Western section, these are too rare to go back and wreak havoc on them all for revenge later on.

Now, THIS is okay. If you're using the italics text for emotes or whatever, this works fine -- for me, at least.

Why am I wasting my posts on silly style stuff? Sorry, the anonymous poster kinda made me start looking at all of your posts here to see where you've screwed it up.

No matter, the Bloodbulks have got to be more common on the other side of the zone, right? I've only ever seen one and it was chasing someone to the guards.

Anybody out there have more information about them and where to find them?

For some reason, the above list is incomplete in the classes that can use these items. The Beastlord CAN use them even though this class was ommitted for whatever reason....

    Claw quests

I looked at every merchant in town there is and can't find a practice flail. I was told that newbie shaman have practice flails and stopped there. I guess I could make a level 1 shaman and get one and do a multi or something.

I have killed hundreds of skeletons and never seen a darkened jawbone. Only 2 other kinds of which the name escapes me.

Kogar in Shar Vahl has the wooden practice flails. He's near the south gate exit.

The merchant who sales the practice flails is near the south gate. He sometimes randomly says when people walk buy asking them to stop and buy his practice weapons, if you go from shadeweaver's thicket to the bank in shar vahl you run by him every single time.

I've done nearly all the quests also here's the info I have, forgive me if it's repeated in some other quest post.

4 saurek fangs from the uncommon spawn a saurek claw beast results in Ghulam Leggings AC 8 +10hp.

The Bloodbursts are extremely rare spawns randomly in the zone. The carapaces are also not common drops.

From the spiritist near the dancers:
4 darkened jawbones (they are extremely ultra duber rare drops from lesser shades) will get you Rebirth Life Gloves, they are AC 5 +1 dex +5 mana.

4 sharp tooth jawbones gets you a pair of sleeves, I think they were AC 6 +2 str +5 mana +5 svF

After this she wants rotting jawbones from the skeletal brigands or thugs. These are even rarer than darkened jawbones and I've only managed to get one so far.

From the captain who is also a beastlord captain are the Saurek Claw quests. He wants 3 of a certain saurek's claws + a practice flail (flail is sold by a merchant in town).

3 Saurek Shredder claws + practice flail=5dmg 32dly +2 bane dmg vs tegi
    3 saurek deathmaw claws + practice flail=unknown
    3 firefall saurek claws + practice flail=unknown
Claw Beast Talons + practice flail=unknown

Sorry, I haven't managed to get any deathmaw, firefall or clawbeast claws/talons yet.

Also for those of you looking the recipe to create the Champion's robe/cape go over to EQTraders.com message boards and look under the quests involving tradeskills. We've worked on the quest for the past week and someone finally discovered the recipe, it wasn't me so it's not my place to post the info around.

Some of you can use the info i've posted here and mail it to Allakazam, I just don't like mailing in item pictures or quest walkthroughs.

Also a note on the quest involving 4 deathmaw scales to be turned in to one of the captains for armor is broken at the time. turning in the scales to him results in nothing. So does turning them into the trainee who mentions deathmaw scales.

Interesting thing is both the Saurek Darkclaw Claws and Saurek Fang (off Claw Beast) look like the Rat Tooth -- a white fang with a red top, but the ONLY Saurek Deathmaw Claw I have gotten to date has been the three-legged brown thing that you will recognize as looking like the Scorpion Legs, Spider Legs, Spiderling Legs, or Skeletal Hand, depending on how long you have been playing the game. Not what I expected, but then not everything in this game ever is, huh?

I am going forward on the assumption that all of the claws -- and maybe even the Saurek Claw Beast Talon -- that Captain Alim wants are all going to look like the Scorpion Legs.

If somebody has any different information, please share it.

I did the Claw Beast Talons part, but received nothing. The quest might have been broke at the time but it might be working now.

The carapaces you've been looting (Bloodling Carapace) are for a quest to get a Bloodling Shield. In the Shar Vahl armory (building #7 on EQAtlas.com map), the armory master sells a shield frame (container). Purchase a frame, load it up with 8 Bloodling Carapaces and hit combine. The shield will pop back into your inventory without a skill check and there's no XP for the combine. I have heard that, but don't have personal experience with, the completed shield can be returned to the armory master (Master Bahran or something to that effect) for XP and a minor reward. I have a screen shot of the completed shield and will be submitting it to Allakhazam very soon. The stats are 4AC and +1 SvD.

Give your slate to all non merchants and they might give you a quest.
