Start by giving your Guild Summons to your guildmaster. You will receive an Application for Citizenship. For example:

Master Taruun Rakutah says, 'Good ________, I am pleased to see you. You have come of age and it is time for you to register for citizenship. Your invitation indicates that the Taruun, hunters and providers of Shar Vahl, have noticed you and consider your potential to be worthy of our training. First, take this application to Registrar Bindarah and return to me with proof of citizenship.'

Master Taruun Rakutah says, 'I know that you may be nervous right now... after all, this should be a very exciting first step for you. If you happen to get lost while looking for the registrar, just ask one of the other citizens or guards for directions. They will most likely know where to find the place or person that you are looking for.'

    You gain experience!

Find Registrar Bindarah near the south gate and bridge at -390, +140. Give her the Application for Citizenship.

Registrar Bindarah says 'Young ______, I will be happy to process your registration for you. While I etch your name on our people's book of records I will require you to run a couple of errands. Take this certificate to the tax collector and obtain his seal. While you're out doing that, have Mignah create your personal Acrylia slate for you. Bring both the seal and the slate to me as soon as you can.'

    You gain experience!!

You receive a Certificate of Taxability in exchange. Find Tax Collector Khugra in the bank at -290, -455, -187 and give him the certificate.

Tax Collector Khugra places his seal on the certificate before returning it to you. 'Ahh, a new taxpayer, wonderful! You must always remember that it is a distinct privilege to contribute to the upkeep of our noble society and not merely a duty or a burden. I look forward to collecting your honorable taxes in the future. May the spirits prosper you, ______.'

You receive a Stamped Certificate of Taxability. Now find Mignah Cahru in the tavern near the north gate at +485, -285.

You say, 'What about an acrylia slate?'

Mignah Cahru pulls a smoldering piece of forged acrylia from a nearby oven and, before you can react, presses your hand into the still soft metal. 'This may hurt a bit, but it'll heal.' He then etches your name and the date into the slate and plunges it into a bucket of water before placing it into your stinging palm.

You receive an Acrylia Slate. Head back to Registrar Bindarah and give her the stamped certificate and acrylia slate.

Registrar Bindarah says 'This item, by itself, means nothing to me.'

Registrar Bindarah says 'Ahh, there you are. I was about to send someone looking for you. Everything seems to be in order here, only one task remains. You must gain audience with the king and swear fealty to his highness by handing him this document. Return to me when this is done.'

She will keep the acrylia slate for now, but you will get it back later. You receive a Note to King Raja, which reads:

Oh great king, I hereby voluntarily pledge my life to serving the realm and preserving the noble Vah Shir. I am henceforth yours to command.

Take it to King Raja Kerrath in the throne room of the palace, at 0, +565, -160.

King Raja Kerrath says 'Your humility and willingness to serve shall not be wasted. There is much to be done, ______, and our people thank you in advance for your selfless service.'

You receive a Note from King Raja, which reads:

I, your beloved king, find the bearer of this note to be worthy of citizenship of Shar Vahl. May he serve the noble Vah Shir well.

Return to Registrar Bindarah and give her the letter.

Registrar Bindarah says 'Well done, ______, I am honored to be the first to welcome you to citizenship of Shar Vahl! May you serve our society as well as it serves you. Return to your guildmaster and present both the slate and the application to him. The acrylia slate shall henceforth serve as proof of your citizenship.'

Registrar Bindarah says 'Oh, by the way, be careful with this as it will be important for recording your service to our society. If you should somehow lose it, ask me about your slate and I will issue you a new one.'

Your faction standing with Citizens of Shar Vahl got better. +400
    You gain experience!!

You receive an Acrylia Slate of Shar Vahl, along with a Notarized Application. NOTE: This slate is your unique identification for subsequent Vah Shir quests, so don't destroy it. Bring the application back to your guildmaster. Here's the dialogue for the Beastlord guildmaster:

Elder Animist Sahdi says 'Allow me to be the first to welcome you to the Khati Sha, lords of the beasts. Accept this cloak, young initiate. It is a symbol of your loyalty to our noble people. May it serve you as you serve us all. Present your acrylia slate to Animist Poren and he will give you instruction. May the spirits of the beasts guide you and keep you safe.'

You receive the Initiate's Cloak of Shar Vahl.

Not only does this give you great AC for a newbie item, the experience you get doing the quest gets you almost all the way to level 2; after doing this quest, I only had to kill 2 more mobs to ding! Immediately put your slate in the bank. DO NOT LOSE THIS CLOAK, it's a pain to replace, and all classes of Vah Shir need it to doing any of their guild's ladder quests.

Some folks would disagree that it is so excellent while they are in the thick of doing it, but I agree with you. It was a fairly well thought out starting quest that served to thoroughly familiarize me with the layout of the city AND provided me with almost a full level of exp just for running back and forth between a series of quest NPCs.

In the process of completing the quest, I located both exits to the other zones (North Gate to Hollowshade Moor and South Gate to Shadeweaver's Thicket), the Bank, the King, and my Guildmaster.

All in all, not a bad time, it just seems harder than turning in a note to a guildmaster for a tunic and receiving no further direction, so you somehow wander out to a newbie field and kill skeletons, wolves, snakes, etc. as when I started all my other characters.

ok, coming from a non-vah shir, is it possible for other races to just get the by talking to the dispensor npc? I would like to do the runequill quest because I believe that the pottery involved might make the transportation of clay a little easier... just a thought. Anyhow, it seems that the slate is required for many trade-skill related quests on luclin...

    # Dec 29 2001 at 11:09 PM Rating: Default
I being a dumbass one night combined the gloves and thought I got new gloves for the quest. I turned in my initiate cloak and my gloves (thinking that this was the new claws I was supposed to get) and was given back my gloves but not my cloak. How do I get a new cloak???? or does he remember that I gave him my cloak before and will take the claws now and give me all the items he is supposed to give me.

~guess I should sleep when tired and not keep playing when I am not reading the screen well

Multiquest: With you original character, get a new acrylia slate from Mignah. Create a new Val Shir and redo the Citizenship quest up to the point where you've received the stamped document (tax collector's seal?) from the tax collector. (Make sure you've parked your original character right next to Bindarah) Give the stamped document from the tax collector to Bindarah and log. Have your original character then turn in the acrylia slate and you will receive the letter to the king. You know the rest from there.
If your newbie cat receives the letter to the king upon turning in the stamped doc alone, then you will need to the start it again with another newbie (someone else turned in an acrylia slate alone before you).

    Replacement Slate
    # Dec 20 2001 at 10:59 AM Rating: Decent
Has anybody figured out what faction to raise so that the Registrar will give you a new slate? When She gives you the first one, she says she will replace it for you if asked. Well, I lost mine and have asked her repeatedly for a new one. I always get messages to the effect that she cannot yet trust me with that information and that I must prove my dedication to her cause.

My question if "What cause?" Of course, she doesn't answer that one.

I have been trying for about 5 levels to get a new slate so that I can get a new cloak and do the weapon quest for my BL. I have killed hundreds of hoppers and beetles. I have killed dozens of Briggands and Thugs. I have killed practically everything I can find in Shadeweaver's Thicket, all to no avail. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

    Thanks.

tell registrar " i lost my acrylia slate" and you get it back i have done it twice.
    RE: Replacement Slate
    # Dec 27 2001 at 5:42 AM Rating: Default
No, this DOESN'T work! I've seen people actually use this phrase, and seen them get a replacement, HOWEVER it doesn't work when *I* do it; I get the same generic messages saying my faction isn't high enough. The Registrar's ALWAYS conned 'indifferent' to me (since level 1), and after completing the championship cloak quest, I was now conning her 'warmly'. STILL, since level 6 I have NOT been able to get a replacement slate. I know the phrase 'i lost my acrylia slate' works (hell, you can just say 'slate' and get the same message), however, something in the game is BROKEN. I've submitted a bug-note on it, but the best I've gotten is a guide asking me to /petition a full GM about it (he says it 'works fine now' and suggested not everything was known about the required factions... Pfft). Anyway, there does appear to be something amiss, either broken or funky faction adjustments. Oh, I even tried 'sneaking' and asking...I got the same response, FWIW...

I too con warmly to the Registrar but cant get a new slate either. I gave mine to a NPC thinking i was supposed to and didnt get it back and need a new one to complete the quests. /petitioned a GM they said to ask around there was a quest to get it back but I am not finding anyone who knows anyhting about it other then asking for a a new slate. She says I must prove myself I ask how no response.

    # Dec 20 2001 at 3:32 PM Rating: Default
If you mean you need a new "Acrylia Slate", that doesn't come from the Registrar.....you need to go ask Mignah for that.
    RE: Replacement Slate
    # Dec 20 2001 at 4:28 PM Rating: Decent
I got a slate from Mignah, but it is useless (apparently) without her seal of approval.

When she hand you the slate and note to give your guild master, she says she can and will replace it if it is lost. She warns you that it is valuable.

I just can't get her to give me a new one. If I can get her to do that, I can probably figure some way to get a new note for the guild master.
    RE: Replacement Slate
    # Dec 20 2001 at 10:13 PM Rating: Decent
just say 'i need to replace my slate' and the registrar will give you another =)
    RE: Replacement Slate
    # Dec 21 2001 at 9:49 AM Rating: Decent
I have tried all different combinations of phrases. "What slate?" "I need a new slate." I need a replacement slate." "What about my slate?" I am pretty sure I have tried that exact phrase, too: "I need to replace my slate."

Her answer is always the same. She says she doesn't know if she can trust me with that information yet. Or, alternatively, she says I must prove my dedication to their cause. These two phrases seem to be on a random cycle, because I can use the same phrase two or three times in a row and get different answers.

I obviously need some kind of faction boost with her to get the slate. Hence, my post here.

    Anyone have any idea?

I also lost my slate once, I either said "What about my slate?" "What about my Acrylia Slate?" or "What about my Personnal Acrylia Slate?" I dont remember which, but I got a new one.

Sometimes exact Capitalization and Punctuation matter, try capitalizing different words. and always use a "?" since you are asking a question:)

    # Dec 19 2001 at 4:18 AM Rating: Default
I believe the items each classes make will be tradable .. ie When a Beastlord sucessfully combine a Toughened sinew lashings from no drop items .. I bet it become a tradable item then you can trade this with other classes for the item you need to complete the your quest ..

yeah I would image it gonna be hard to find other classes to trade for the items you needed to complete a quest because the ratio of classes created on the server
I seen more Beastlord and haven't seen a Vah bard yet .. so I dunno what gonna happen .. I prolly would wound up starting other classes and level it up to the point where it can make those thing for my Beastlord.

    Vah Shir Rogue Quest
    # Dec 17 2001 at 5:41 PM Rating: Decent
I've completed the initial portions of the rogue quests. I was then sent to talk to Taruun Joharr and turn in my buckler to continue with my training. He sent me to the cook to get him a meal. The cook then, of course, sent me to obtain the "fatty meat of young owlbears" to make the meal, and gave me a six slot pack in which to combine. However, regular owlbear meat doesn't work, and no matter how many owlbears of all kinds I kill, I have yet to obtain any other type of "meat" off of them. Does anyone know what I need to do to complete this?

HOURS! As if the lag and LD weren't enough, the city is laid out specifically to torque down your head gasket.

Watch the drops hereabouts! I fell into places I could not get back to and, so chose to delete my Beastlord and recreate him rather than run the early stages of the quests all over again.

-- Registrar Bindarah -- approximately Neg385, Pos146; office in building set back from the South Gate a bit.

-- Tax Collector Khurga -- approximately Neg257, Neg559 is the loc of the bank near the Arena; he is through the door left of the Bankers, in the rear of the bank.

-- Mignah Cuhra (lastname correct???) --approximately Pos480, Neg265; upstairs in a tavern near the North Gate.

-- King -- the palace throneroom; you passed through it to get to the outside.

-- Animist Poren -- He starts the next quest. I saw several folks wandering around looking for this guy. He is to your right rear as you face Elder Animist Sahdi when you complete your Initiate Cloak quest.

    Good Luck.

ALL CLASSES OF VAH SHIR READ THIS
    # Dec 16 2001 at 3:49 AM Rating: Default
I don't know whose bright idea this was, but this quest is for all intents and purposes impossible to complete. Once you get to the final (?) stage of this quest, which for the Beastlord class is when you turn in your 2 wolf molars (don't forget to combine the box!), you find out that in order to complete the next portion, you must combine resources with one member from ALL of the other SECTS. That means you have to find a Warrior, Rogue, Shamman, and Bard who have ALL completed their parts of the quest to this point, and then somehow (haven't figured out quite how since the claws are no drop) the warrior is supposed to combine all these items in a special kit to fashion the new weapon, which for beast is claws.
Lovely concept, the teamwork and all. Only problem is, at least on Saryrn server, that the ratio of Vah Shir classes is a BIT lopsided, to say the least. I'd say 5 Bards to 10 Warriors and Rogues to 20 Shamans to 100 Beastlords. Do the math. That's 20 Beastlords to every Bard, and that's actually a pretty conservative estimate imho. Even *IF* Bards and Warriors and Rogues and Shamans are able to complete their parts of the quest multiple times, who in their right mind is gonna want to grunt thru collecting all the stuff and perhaps suffering multiple skill fails (took me 3 times and about 12 wasted hours to get my 2nd claws) 10 or 20 times?
If you're doing this quest, use your /FEEDBACK command and tell them what you think of their bright idea. Send a bug report. Do something, cuz unless they change this, there's an awful lot of Beastlords out there who are gonna be mighty PO'd. Of course, I guess this is great for the bards... might turn into a lucrative business if they are able to repeat the final portion of the quest ad nauseum. I can see it now /auction WTS Bard Final Quest Items 1K pp

Looking for info on Beastlord Quest after collecting rockhopper tails and turning in resulting bag and getting recommendation letter to turn in to Kery Miann. After turning in letter, she says something about killing a creature for their light source and combining it in a chest she gives you along with your quest cloak. All I really remember(should have written it down) is that she mentions tunnels and thicket. Anyone know what creature she is speaking of and what area I need to be looking in? I've killed everything wandering in tunnels in Shadeweaver Thicket to no avail. And am beginning to think she may mean Paludal Caverns.
Thanks for any assitance in advance.

You need to kill a Glowing Muck Digger in Paludal Caverns. The mob is about lvl 17ish, and drops if memory serves a glowing heart. A group of 3 or 4 15's or a full group of 13 14 lvls can take it. If you zone into Paludal from Shadeweaver's Thicket, once you hit the lake, turn right, go up the first tunnel and you'll come to a ledge with a bunch of muck diggers and grime tunnelers. They con indifferent, but if you attack one, any within agro range lt. blue con or better will agro. There's also some of the Phlerg Fiends out in the lake. Anyway, start killing the muck diggers and it won't be long before the glowing spawns. It's the only critter up there by the way that will run away at low health...
Anyway, put it and your cloak in the box, combine, turn it in to Keri Miann and you get your new cloak and she sends you off to Kaam Rahiir in the libraries. You'll find him to the left as you go thru the entrance to the palace area. You give him your claws, he sends you off to collect 2 wolf molars. It's from here on out that this quest really sucks.
Kaam Rahiir tells you to go kill wolf cubs and bring back 2 molars so he is assured that you have met your enemy. Well, meet it you will, cuz it took about 200 kills to get 4 molars. About the only way to do it is get a lvl 40ish or higher druid to track em, pull em, and PL ya thru em. Why, you ask? Because VERANT has done it again. Molars will drop off any of the levels of wolf in the Moor. Pups are level 17ish and undercon. Wolflings are level 21ish and full grown Sonic Wolves are lvl 25 to 30. WHEN you kill a pup, another wolf will spawn to take its place... but not necessarily a pup... any level wolf can pop. SOOOO, after killing the 1 or 2 pups that might be up a time or two, you will find in very short order there ARE no more pups to be had. They've been replaced by either Wolflings or Sonic Wolves... and eventually if there's a high enough party hunting the wolflings, they'll be gone too and you'll have nothing but LVL 25 and higher Wolves. The drop rate is about 1 in 50 for molars. The other quest items seemed to drop on a regular basis. Beastlord will need the molars, and TENDONS for the REALLY MESSED UP finale (?) at least next part of the quest. Shamman will need Wolf Brains ,Paws and blood. Rogue needs blood. Warrior needs powdered claws and something else either brains or blood. Forget what the bards need. All of this stuff is NO DROP, except the paws. Go figure. Several other no drop items such as Tongues and Jawbones drop but as of yet don't know what their use is, if any. I'm going to post the final NERF seperately to make sure all those doing the various sundry Vah Shir quests are forewarned.

    LODI KAI REMAINS QUEST
    You say, 'Hail, Hymnist Omiyad'
Hymnist Omiyad says 'Greetings young one, have a seat by the fire. You will notice the dance being preformed. This is much more than just a dance though. It is a ritual that we preform to [purge the evil spirits] that are plaguing the thicket.
You say, 'how do you purge the evil spirits?'
Hymnist Omiyad says 'Lately there has been a surge in the number of Lodi Kai threatening our trade routes. This ritual of is preformed around a fire that burns from their [remains]. Setting their remains in the fire will free their tie with this world and shall ward off their numbers.
    You say, 'what remains?'
Hymnist Omiyad glances toward the fire. 'I see that the fire is dying down some. Should you come across the remains of the Lodi Kai bring them to me to keep the ritual fire burning. Bring plenty though, four if you can.'

    JAWBONE QUEST
    You say, 'Hail, Spiritist Karina'
Spiritist Karina says 'Welcome friend. Come dance by our warm fire or have a seat and learn a little bit about the ways of the [spiritist]
    You say, 'what spiritist'
Spiritist Karina says 'We are those in tune with the spirits that surround us. Ancestral spirits with knowledge of the ancients dance around us by this very fire. They guide is through the darkness. Protect us from pain. But a terrible [curse] has befallen the spirits of this thicket, and so it is my duty to train these young Dar Khura in order to aid in the battle that lies ahead.
    You say, 'what curse?'
Spiritist Karina says 'The spirits are corrupted by foul magic. The souls of our ancestors have been twisted into an abomination known as [shades]. The corpses of long passed friends and relatives walk through the night seeking to destroy the living. We must destroy the corrupted remains of their old bodies and allow the spirits to roam free once more. Will you help us [release the souls] of our kindred spirits?
    You say, 'what shades?'
Spiritist Karina says 'The shades are a deeper form of corruption of the spirit. I can sense great anguish in the spirits that have been twisted into such a creation. Their horror burns my heart so deeply that I cannot bear it. I would not normally ask another to place themselves in danger, but it is important that the souls are released from these shadowed prisons of torture and darkness. Please help us [release the souls] of our ancestral spirits.
You say, 'i will help release the souls'
Spiritist Karina says 'I am relieved that you have accepted this dangerous task. I can feel the strength of the spirit within you. There are many kindred spirits aiding us in this battle. If you are in tune with the spiritual realm, you will find that your rituals of magic will result in aid from our spiritual allies. Return to me with the [darkened jawbones] of the lesser shades so that I may release the spirit once more.
Spiritist Karina says 'Only use your connection to the spiritual realm when you need it. Do not drain yourself unnecessarily, for you will find yourself unable to call for aid when you need it the most. Ration out your spiritual strength carefully, it will be vital to your own survival.
    You say, 'what darkened jawbones?'
Spiritist Karina says 'The jawbones will aid me in tuning to the essence of the corrupted spirits. When you return to me with them, you are enabling me to place the lost soul to rest. I am able to release four of these spirits at one time in much the same way I am training these four young trainees. It is best to bring me four of them at one time if you are able.

Captain Koldar says 'Stand back hunter! Not all of my men are properly trained in the use of their spears. You may find yourself losing an eye if you get too close. Now then, I assume you have [come to help.] Is that correct?
You say, 'i have come to help'
Captain Koldar says 'Then why are you standing around! Can't you see the invading forces of the Shak Dratha approach our town? Destroy them and bring me four of their bloody hearts as proof of your deed. Snap to it!

    QUEST PART
    You say, 'Hail, Groo McManus'
Groo McManus says 'Greetings adventure seeker. I have come from afar to study this strange thicket. The spirits are strong within this region, but they are secretive as well. I am willing to impart my wisdom to those who will aid me in my exploration. Are you [interested?]
    You say, 'i am interested'
Groo McManus says 'Very well then! Let us begin. First you must attune yourself with the nature of spirits. For this you must learn to find a spiritual anchor. Find such a thing within the crater that surrounds Shar Vahl and return it to me. Then we may continue. I cannot tell you more, but there is a Vah Shir who has the knowledge that you seek. Seek him out in this thicket to learn what you can.

    SARUEK CLAW QUEST
    You say, 'Hail, Captain Alim'
Captain Alim says 'Have you come for training young one? The way of the Beastlord teaches many things about the forces of nature. The [forces] in the thicket are very interesting.
    You say, 'what forces?'
Captain Alim says 'Yes, the force that compels a creature to adjust to their surroundings in particular. The Saruek have seem to adapted to their environment very well. I am studying the effects of their claws. It seems the different [variety] of Saruek have special enhancements.
    You say, 'what variety'
Captain Alim says 'Well, for example the Firefall Saruek can attack with claws that burn the flesh, the Deathmaw attack with poisonous claws, the shredder Saruek are especially skilled in fending off the Tegi that threaten them, and lastly there is a more uncommon Claw Beast that is very strong but does not appear that often. I believe I could take their claws and affix them to a weapon to [enchance] it.
    You say, 'what enchance?'
Captain Alim says 'If you would like to test this theory go hunt these Saurek. Bring me three claws each for Deathmaw, Firefall, and Shredder. Due to the reported size of the Claw Beast I only need his talons. Along with these claws bring me a practice flail to fasten the claws to. Go now I have many trainees waiting to be taught.

    HOPPER SCALE QUEST

    You say, 'Hail, Captain Tarief'
Captain Tarief says 'Well met, have you [come to aid] us in hunting the hoppers of the thicket?
You say, 'i have come to aid'
Captain Tarief says 'If you are preparing to hunt, then there are a few things you should know. Some of the hoppers have unique abilities. Knowledge of these abilities can mean the difference between life and death. I will tell you a little bit about them if you [wish to listen.]
You say, 'i wish to listen'
Captain Tarief says 'A wise choice, it is good to learn all that you can of the prey before initiating the hunt. Such a tactic is vital when you set out for larger game. Learn of your prey's strengths and weaknesses and you shall have the upper hand. Saurek's may all seem similar to one another at first glance, but this is not the case. Such a mistake has left many Taruun dead. I have learned that the darkclaw saureks have venom dripping from their claws. There are a few other [unique qualities] to the saureks as well.
    You say, 'what unique qualities?'
Captain Tarief says 'Each of the saureks have their own unique set of scales. I am able to tell which saurek my trainees have managed to hunt successfully by the scale they return to me. Feel free to join in our lesson or the hunt. I hope that you will benefit from my advice. Hunt well Tigerkity.
