If you stand at 1499, 1351, you can look down the hill you are on to the north and east. To the north, owlbear fleshrenders spawn (upper 20s con). You do nto want them. But to the east down the hill is a spawn, and a path where they wander. If you move a little south, you can see the area they wander to the south and south west (one of their spawns is in a tree a little south south west of you. Of you stay on 1499, 1351, occasionally one either spawns or walks right over that spot. It seems they have about a 10 min spawn, but when you kil them, strip everything, even if it measn destroying stuff, so that they will spawn faster.
One pops near the fort, one south or se of the North camp if the owlbears hold it. If the Owlbears hold the east camp, two spawn in place of the sonic pups, but the exact spawn location is still a mystery to me. So theres usu a max of 4 vailable, but I havent been able to confirm if more are around or not. None have spawnedd at the south camp as far as I've been able to tell.
Do they only spawn behind the outpost, or can they be found elsewhere in Hollowshade? My poor rouge is stuck on the rockhopper eggs since they are such a rare drop. But I thought I'd get the fatty meat while I was at it. The past couple days I've seen more of the sonicwolf cubs than the owlbear.
these cubs supposedly drop owlbear claws for the stretching dowel used in the beastlord's part of the sonic wolf-bane weapons. i have all of the other parts now, but i need 2 claws and everyone says these cubs drop them EXCEPT the people posting their loot on this thread! someone please tell me you got one...
I was camping these for my sonic wolfbane weapon and i killed 2 cubs right off the bat and they both dropped the tiny claws. I did make mistake when I went to turn them in. I'm not sure if it is because I did not give my cloak in addition to the claws or if it is because I forgot to stop off at bank and leave an empty slot. Regardless I went back out expecting them to be just as easy to get a second time but this is not the case as I have killed about 15 of them since and not gotten another since.
I have only ever had the Small Claws drop for my Vah Shir Beastlord. I also have Beastlords of all the other races, have MQ'd Shar Vahl citizenship and have never had a claw drop to a race other than a Vah Shir. My other races all got theirs from Vah Shir who were hunting the cubs. Most likely terrible luck on my part, but I have killed over 100 spread over the other beastlord races.... Hmmmmmm
played around here a bit. everything way underconned. can go fight yellow Lodi kai traders and fare loads better than fighting dark blue critters here. bout need a group xp the same.
Since everything in Hollowshade Moor seems to be a severe undercon, what would you all say these do really con? Blue to a 16 Bard but when ones buddy shows up they still destroy me. Was blue at 14 too. Very frustrating.
level is wrong on these guys> I conned one today before picking a fight with it as a Level 11 shaman and it was blue. However it hit for up to 40 damage which is around a normal lvl 20 creature I believe. Now thats pretty much BS
The owlbear meat (not the no drop kind, the regular type) can be used to increase your cooking skill to 41. Simply combine with one spice and one jug of sauce in an oven. The spice and jug of sauce can both be purchased from the supply master in the first building to the right as you enter kittyville from Hollowshade. An oven is in the courtyard of that same building. Kick back and enjoy your owlbear steaks while learning a new skill.
Fatty Owlbear meat is also used in the Vah Shir warrior quest.
The owlbears you saw in Paludal Caverns are actually Grimy Owlbear Cubs. They are different and don't drop the fatty owlbear meat along with other items. I only seen them drop:
Owlbear meat Damaged Owlbear pelt Owlbear Pelt Chipped beak Wailing substance. somebody said perfect pelts also but I killed over a 100 of them and no perfect for me.
Probably not complete, these drops seem to come from the owlbear cub that spawns behind Vhal Shir Fort in Hollowshade Moor.
- Owlbear Meat - Owlbear Pelt - Chipped Owlbear Beak - Owlbear Gut (No Drop, Looks Like Fatty Owlbear meat) - Fatty Owlbear Meat (No Drop, see Above) - Owlbear Bile (No Drop, Green Vile of blood) - Owlbear Tendons (No Drop, Looks Like Silk Thread) - Digested Salass Moss (No Drop, Can't really discribe it) - Digested Night Palm (No Drop, Same as Above)
Cook Yalkiin (in Shar Vahl) gives you a "bloody cloth sack" (6-slot bag with combine button). You then fill the bag with "fatty owlbear meat", click combine, and return the result to Cook Yalkiin.
