Drop rate is not what the last post said. Visited the zone k'd 1 cub out side the cave, the 2 guardians, and hit everything as I went. Got my Perfect about half way through. Ended up with 1 Perfect 1 Owlbear 3 Damaged 3 Chipped Beaks 1 Feathers 2 Sullied and 14 Owlbear Meat The Perfect was off a regular fleshrender Owlbear.

The drop rate on these babies has drop to about .00003% or worst. There was a time I could get 3 or 4 an hour. Now less than 1 a month and I camp them every day for 1 to 2 hours each time. Maybe Sony don't want me selling Rallic Packs anymore.

Cleared entire Owl Bear cave in the NW corner and got one perfect pelt off a fleshrender right near the denmaster mob in the very back of the cave.

Cleared second time and got 2 pelts.

Cleared third time and got 1 pelt.

Based off that I would assume each clear should net you 1 pelt on average, unless I've just been lucky/unlucky. Pretty quick respawns too. One word of advice, do NOT kill the named owlbear in the far back of the cave cause if you kill the named and its two guardians it starts the Hollowshade War, and bye-bye owlbears!

I dunno. Maybe I should have been doing the shaman Shar Vahl quests earlier...

Do you know how rare it is to get the danged sonic wolf brains!

So, killing everything in order to get the danged sonics to spawn, I now have nearly 2 stacks of these, and all my alts have rallic packs, all have the rallic pack patterns, and three of them have the runner's satchel in the bank.

Go figure...

And I still only have 2 reactive sealant soaks and one sonic wolf brain!

Within 10 minutes I had one. Within an hour, I had 2. (Tallon Zek server) The zone was empty except for me the entire time. They do not see through invisi BTW.

The problem with Hollowshade is that the Sonic Wolves and the Owlbears rotate dens. One up in the NW corner and one on the east.

I didnt have to kill a named it off of to "gaurds". Luck of the draw...

Found one on an Owlbear Cub in Hollowshade Moor. Actually it was the second one I killed. So you don't have to hunt the named ones to find them.

I just got 2 perfect owlbear pelts last night in Hollowshade moor. But the problem with this is the owlbears are only there if they win the war I guess they won last night. It took me a couple of kills to get them but I got them in a row. Hope this helps you.

Easier Drop??

Anyone know if something was done to the drop rates on these? When I got my first pack it seemed the perfect dropped about one in 20 kills, on Luclin server anyway they were dropping most freq from the owlbear grapplers. I had a few extra and sold them in bazaar for 500pp ea.!!! today while coming back from yet another acrylia farming session in TM I killed a cub near Shar Val camp and a perfect drops! RARELY did I see a cub drop one in HS. Also seems to be AOLT more of them availible in the bazaar, prices down to 200pp. As a side note on wondering if drops rates were eased up the Grol Baku in TM seem to be dropping Acrylia more often now then about 10 days ago, also seem to be more db mobs in the zone. Comments??

I have looted this pelt from the Owlbears in Grimling Forest as well, most often from the Owlbear Cub

You will need a Tailoring skill of about 20 to make the Shade Silk Cords & Threads without a lot of fails.

As the Rallic Pack is the result of a quest, it is a no-fail final combine in a sewing kit or loom.

A little misinformation here has led me to jot this down. Some of this use to be "secret" info but I think enough people have posted on the subject that my friends won't be too upset.

starting in Tenebous Mountains kill the Grimling Runner. He spawns at the zone in from Grimling Forest every 72 min (he is a timed spawn, not random). Fairly decent rogue, don't let him get behind you. He drops a pack that you need to give to Ralic in Katta. He is in the government building on the first floor to the left as you enter the building. Ralic gives you the pattern (lore) and tells you to gather the rest of the ingredients.
Perfect Owlbear Pelt has about an equal chance of dropping from any owlbear spawn (I suspect that yelloweyes has a slightly higher chance of dropping perfects, but I haven't kept track). I suggest cubs because their easier to kill.
Other than that go into Shar Vahl and kill the wurms in the pit to gather enough shade silks to make a cord and a thread (that's 8 silks if you have no failures). Combine the 4 items in a large sewing kit or a Loom (or a delux sewing kit if you have one.) and you have yourself a Ralic Pack (final combine is reported to be a no-fail combine. Just how exactly do you confirm that?).

Hope this helps.

(final combine is reported to be a no-fail combine. Just how exactly do you confirm that?).

Simple, someone with zero skill attempts it, and gets the trivial message. Then, when nobody ever fails making it, over several thousand combines, over several months, it is assumed to be no-fail.

The shade silk thread combine is no-fail also. The only one that is not, is the cord.

Hmm unless spawn has changed, he pops exactly every 90mins, and there is no PH, just sit on yer **** at ent to GF tunnel on TM side and he pops on you and attacks....
Ive made about 15-20 of the easiest and most rewarding quest in game.....

And ALL & ANY owlbear ANYWHERE can drop a Perfect owlbear pelt.....Just have a much better chance of getting one in Hollowshade Moor though cuz there are like 100x more owlbears there....

Ok, Had to add this after the last post. The Pattern is found in Tenebrous Mountain. At the zone in from The Grimling Forest. The Grimling Runner spawns there every 90 minutes. That pack is No Drop. But you can take that and turn it in in Katta for the Pattern which is Lore only. The Perfect Owlbear Pelts will drop in Paudal Caverns and will also drop in Hollowshade Moor. If you can find the Owlbears up (With the War that can take place in that zone). Silks - Yes they are easy to get, But not in Hollowshade Moor. Never seen one drop there. They are found in Shadeweaver's Thicket. Which is on the other side of Shar Vahl. Hope this clears up what the last person posted.

I have made 20+ Ralic Packs in the last couple weeks. Couple of pointers that might help those interested in doing this easy quest. It is very doable in the mid 30's range. Kill roaming Grimlings in FM in any of the grimling mines. Seem to spawn about every 2 hours of clearing the roamers. (pack is no-drop, but pattern is tradeable but LORE.)(Tracking helps a ton here)
Perfect pelts in GF seem to drop more off the lower-level Owlbears. Everything hits hard in this zone but it is good exp in your 40's. Drop rate is about 2-3 per 4hr camp.
Silks are easy to farm in HSM. Also can be farmed in catman newbie grounds.
Ralic is in the huge keep surrounded by the giant hedge near the FM zone. Go in through the doors, take the 1st left and then another left. He is through the door on your left.

You will get far more of these to drop from the owlbear cubs in hollowshade moor than from any other owlbears.

does anyone know at what point the skill to make the rallic pack trivializes?

On a print out I have it says the trivial is 17. I was reluctant to risk it at that point, as I don't know how often it tends to fail, so I got my skill to 50 before I tried. I was trying to raise my tailoring skill anyhow though...those not interested in tailoring might find it tedious to do that.

The rallic pack is a guarenteed sucess You can make them with 0 skill and always be sucessful
RE: rallic pack
# Oct 10 2002 at 9:13 PM Rating: Good
There are 2 components (a shade silk thread and a shade silk cord) which you need about 12~17 or so in tailor to make. So if you don't want to make them and buy these components from someone, yes the skill needed to assemble the Rallic Pack is 0.

Thread is no fail.

Cord trivials around 40. My druid has 20 tailoring, and makes these all the time. I just make sure to have extra silks, for failires, and consider it part of skilling up tailoring :D

Got to 16 on thread/swatch combines. they NEVER fail.

This pelt also drops off of Yelloweyes in Paludal Caverns.

They drop from pretty much all the owlbears in Paludal, as well as from owlbears in Hollowshade. I got mine from grimey owlbears in Paludal, while collecting wailing substance.

Also drops in Grimling off of the fleshrenders owlbears or whatever the ones there are. So it seems any owlbear can drop em. Ohyeah got one on an owlbear cub in Pal also
Why re-post

Um, I don't know why this would be a new post instead of just an update to an old post?
The perfect owlbear pelt has been around since SoL came out and is a part of the Rallic Pack quest which I got the info for from this site.
