Additional dropage... rather than submitting this to Illia or Allakhazam, I'll just be lazy and post a quick summary here:
Gargoyle Guards:
Don't drop armor (or if they do, extremely rarely).
Drop Low level Velious Spells (circa level 34)
Can rarely drop Tiny Coin Purse (capacity 2, holds small items, weight reduction 20%) which reduces weight of coins.
Named Sentries:
Randomly drop Sentry armor. Drop rate is approximately 1 in 12 off of the LARGE named Sentries. Large Sentry example: Sentry Emil. Small Sentry example: Sentry Dolsam. Drop rate for armor is significantly lower off the small Sentries.
Can rarely drop Tiny Coin Purse.
Might occasionally drop low level spells.
Named Guardians:
Randomly drop Guardian armor. Rates are same as Sentries.
Can rarely drop Tiny Coin Purse.
Might occasionally drop low level spells.

i have almost a full set of guardian, im on ayone ro server, ive seen about 6 of those swords drop, and 3 of them rot..rare drops are legs/bp the ones that are usually rare

Guards DO NOT DROP ANYTHING! The only thing they drop is you, (and xp) Guardians drop Guardian Armour, robes. sword. Hence the name Guardian! Senterys drop sentry armour, again HENCE THE NAME SENTERY. Both Guardian and Sentry have a chance of droping the Tiny Coin Purse. So Please enough of this crap about guards droping armour.

I can say for sure..absolutle NO ARMOR drops off the a gargoyle guards...none. All armor drops randomly off the NAMED gargoyles only as well as the ultra rare tiny coin purse and guardian weapons. Guards are there to basically just be a pain in the *********** drop zero armor and weapons. I have been in Skyshrine getting a full suit of guardian armor, only need boots...but i can say for sure...that only named ones drop armor.

Guards do NOT drop any armor.
Guardians only drop Guardian armor, weapons and robes.
Sentries can drop either sentry armor, weapon and robes or guardian armor.

Guards drop no armor whatsoever. I'e killed 1000's in a few weeks there. Only named guardians drop armor.

How hardwould it be for a 49 pally and 50 mage, 51 druid to take these bad mamajamas down?
These guys are not that nasty, they hit hard but the aren't too bad.
Me (40 shaman), my wife (40 druid), and and brother (45 Necro) na d a 42 warrior drop these on a regular basis without much trouble. You 3 shouldn't have much trouble at all.

I'm the guy who posted last, and been in SS ever since, and not ONCE has tiny coin purse dropped off guards. Haven't seen it off guardIANS either, but two dropped last night off sentries. And I still maintain that garg guards do not drop any guardian armor whatsoever, if anyone sees it please take a pic, because I don't believe it.

i've fought never ending Gargoyle gaurds, and you know what? They are the hardest fights :P The lvl 35 ones are WAY more Resistant to Magic and hit hard and fast. The most loot i've got was Gargoyle Eyes, Chipped Gargoyle Eyes, and a tiny coin purse.

these very very rarely drop " Tiny Coin Purse" it a 0.1wt 2 slot bag that reduces the wt of coins u r carring.. seems to be around 25%

But how many of those pieces were of the GARGOYLE GUARDS? I've been in SS about a week and haven't seen anything drop off the GUARDS, but GUARDIANs do drop the armor and swords. It's confusing since they look identical and have GUARD in their name, but check and I bet none of your armor or the sword came from a G Guard.
