This faction, which used to be called QRG Protected Animals, is now called Surefall Protected Animals. All the same quests and mobs apply, just the name was changed.

for instance
Vesteri Nomanoi says, 'Oh thank you so much! Here. Take this reward for your time. I will also tell Te`Anara of you.'

finally. working this faction every day and finally topped out. 600 points past ally. kindly was dead on 500, warmly dead on 700. every trip was worth 20 points because I could do each task twice ( thank you shared bank). now to go back and fix all those factions that were lowered doing this.

So, I did another few hours on this faction. would have poreferred to edit as this new post will make me seem dumb previously, but it is what it is. so many numbers on my papers. Gharin's note is 8 points. I had forgotten to take into account the fact that you could be just 1 point short of getting into a new faction level when you handed it in. so that gives an additional 7 points leeway. the new data pointed to exactly 8 points per task and 2 for the statue. You want the raw data? 67 statues + 9 notes got me through apprehensive. 20 notes + 20 statues got me through indifferent. 19 statues and 20 notes got me thorugh apprehensive and 19 statues and 20 notes got me through indifferent ( the first set of data I got using collaboration. the second set was straight faction)

Taking a long time ( many hours) but I am gettign there. I am doing a combination of Gharin's Note and Nesiff's Statue. Since both are deliveries from south qeuynow to surefall, doing them at the same time works out nicely. also since both zones have a bank you can double up each task since the items are not no trade. So each trip you can get 4 tasks done. From my calculations over a few hundred trips, Gharin's note nets you 7 points each time and Nesiffs statue only 2 points. And since the Crows Brew is now infinite, there is no worry about limited quantities. The numbers didnt work out exactly, but I have recently been told that a very high heroic charisma can adjust how much faction you gain when a change is made. with +172 heroic charisma, the adjustment could be considerable and its also probably random - like clairvoyance. In any case I will keep going. I know Nesiff's statue is not over 2 and most likely considering the rewards listed its not 1. That forces Gharin's note to be at most 7. I will continue and correct myself if needed.
Killing Unkempt still does not Raise QRG..

I've submitted the correction but in the mean time, it bears mentioning that killing Any Unkempt druid, inlcuding the 4 listed..
Albain Tinderbrand
Nola Thistleborn
Solvedi Aldeberan
Tholia Fastbond
.. in fact LOWERS the QRG faction just the same as killing druids and rangers at the various druid rings.

EASY QRG Faction Fix
# Jul 27 2003 at 12:54 AM Rating: Decent
Bind in Qeynos at Nestif's, have a druid friend port you to SFG, get the receipt for statue, you and druid gate... turn in note, get statue, druid ports you back to SFG...

Get the receipt again and gate... you get the idea... is really easy... fairly fast as well.

I don't think so. I'm 48 and I've hunted in this zone since 45. Every time I low in hp, I run this quest. I conned "threatening" then and I still do, and I figure I've run this quest well over 150 times.
Jagged Pine

There has been much speculation that the animals in Jagged Pine are on this faction. However, I have never seen a post saying, "I raised this faction by doing such-and-such quest and yes, I can now hunt dryads and wisps freely in Jagged Pine without the animals caring at all. They used to be threatening to me and are now dubious."

So I ask, has anyone ever -- ever -- gotten this faction to show benefits in Jagged Pine?

Thanks.
Useless faction?
# Jan 13 2003 at 2:18 AM Rating: Decent
In addition to Garin's Note and Nesiff's statue quests, there are a couple of kills that you can do to raise this faction. You can kill the Bloodsabre Defiler that spawns in the path to the Jaggedpine portal in Surefall Glade, and hand in its head to Salmelia Ticherth (beside Te'Anara in the tree). You can kill Yollis Jenkins in Qeynos Hills and hand in his head to Errin Pinewhisper in Surefall Glade in the main house.

You get factions +JP Treefolk, +Protectors of Pine, +QRG Protected Animals, +Guards of Qeynos, and -Unkempt Druids.

I've raised the QRG Protected Animals many times, and have yet to see any benefit. The bears in Surefall are dubious. The animals in Jaggedpine are still threating. When one of them aggros me & then dies, I get "your faction with the Jaggedpine critters could not possibly get any worse". This shows that there isn't the slightest budge in this faction despite claims to the contrary about its link to QRG Protected Animals on these boards. The animals (lions, etc) in the Karanas are also hostile.

Good thing that there's an animal-free area to kill dryads in Jaggedpine forest -- south of the fort.

Two hit way to raise with a druid friend, surefall TP

Since I just recently got the ability to play two accounts, moving my dark elf cleric to a second one on same server (keep stuff, yay!), I decided to try some accelerated ways to to raise factions.

I'd already got her to max allied to surefall druids and dubious to protectors of pine(surefall rangers) She was still threaten to the animals there. This is not a big deal, since they are lore, but some necro on another board mentioned that QRG animals raises your faction to those "good" animals in the jagged pine zone. I mean to test this so am trying.

What you do with a druid friend is, you both bind near Linya Sowlins hut in WK after you gate there from surefall getting your nitrates from gereal (the druid is also convenient if you are kos and they give you wolf form to do the quest at all, though I did not need it) Then after giving your nitrates and killing the unkempt guy for his note, the druid group teleports you back to surefall (Fasssst factions)

The druid has another use, also. You both can turn in the nitrates - she even takes another though that guy only spawns once, and get factions (plus QRG, etc) You get plus QRG AGAIN for turning in dead guys note to Gereal. This is where the druid has a purpose, have your DRUID friend kill the unkempt guy. Killing him gives MINUS a QRG. This of course balances out as no plus since the druid is gaining one with the nitrate and losing one with the kill. Meanwhile, since the druid kills the guy, your evil faction raiser is GAINING TWO and losing NONE (one with the nitrate to linya, second with the note from dead guy to Gereal) This is why you have them grouped also, in addition to the druid's surefall TP of course ;)

I did this for something like 20 QRG faction pluses to my dark elf cleric. Its also 20 plus protectors of pine and such, but she is max allied to Jagged pine druids so that 20 plus for them is ignored. After 20 of each, she was STILL dubious (as before) to protectors of pine (con krystal aspen who runs around, hagar sureshot, or guy in ranger guild, guy for mammoth quest, etc to check) and STILL threaten to the bears of surefall.

I think someone said this QRG raise is like PLUS ONE each time, so I guess it will take some work. Once I hit dubious, she will run into jagged pine and con bear/panther/wolf and see if that necro guy was right.
oops mistake

Er meant to say not a big deal since the bears are LOW in surefall, not LORE.

Also you don't GATE to wk by linya sowlins hut to BIND there, DUH ;) You both TP to north karana then run over to it from there (making sure to invis the evil party if KOS)

Sorry, wish original post had an edit button ;)

As for the grouped part when looting the undead note, I meant so that the evil party can loot the note right away after the druid kills the guy. Course you are grouped anyway to tp back to surefall.

This seems like the fastest way to get a couple QRG pluses for the evil at a time. I even tried using the druid along with the cleric to get poachers to spawn in Tox, which the cleric loots and then turns in to the ranger guy in surefall (since the dark elf can hide after handing him them, before turn in, due to the new UI - yay ;) )
The problem was that even with a couple people killing the other spawn table wandering junk, you just don't get enough poachers to make it worth it.
Bears Attacking

Can a druid lower faction in sure fall glade by healing someone that is being attacked by a bear? An enchanter was attacked by 2 of the bears.
RE: Bears Attacking
# Jan 01 2003 at 9:56 AM Rating: Decent
Indeed if the person you were healing killed the bears, you would take a faction hit. If they zoned and didn't finish the job, you'd be ok. Hope that helps
Easy Factions
# Mar 30 2002 at 10:29 AM Rating: Decent
Ok, firstly, if you have killed Treants and many other NPCs to gain Unkept Druids faction (as I have) its OK, it is easy to reverse this.

Spend a day in Blackburrow, that will establish a very good JaggedPineTreefolk faction. From there, do quests and raise with the rangers of Surefall, then finally you can raise it with these guys.

This is an awesome faction to have, because Surefall is just a really cool place to be. This and the Kerra Island faction are my favorites. Mostly, because when I duel here the animals help me. =)

Under Tunare, rangers and druids who NEVER kill any animals, from day ...will always con aimable to all normal animals. I have a high-level ranger, and animals that wander by assist me in battle and duels. Easily proven, create a level 1 ranger under tunare...go con a wolf. Ask any higher level ranger under tunare, who kills animals(most do) to con an animal. Point proven.
As far as I know there is no way to get this faction back. It is an unwritten faction, nothing shows when you kill them, but it changes. When you create a ranger under tunare, it tells you to protect those animals...so don't go killing them =) and if you already have, I'd stop =) I have been saved one to many times by a kodiak or two =)

Rangers and druids don't get worse faction with regular animals, they have no faction. If they did, you'd see a faction hit. If you don't see a faction hit from a kill, there isn't one. You can kill all the regular animals you see fit as a ranger or druid, its really hypocrital not to .. do you think all those druids in leather are wearing vinyl?

Only the bears of surefall glade make you use QRGanimals, but it would be silly for a ranger or druid to go in there and kill them.

That is just not true at all. I am a level 22 Ranger of Tunare, and have killed bears, wolves, and cats of all kinds for all my existance. Always con amiable to wolves and bears, cats always glower at me. It's just the way the game is designed.

RE: ranger/druid
# Oct 30 2001 at 1:34 AM Rating: Default
Sorry but rangers and druids of any deity will be "amiable" to normal animals (mainly bears and wolves) and even if they kill them many times they will still be amiable. For RP purposes if you are a ranger who choses to kill animals it could be said that as long as you are using all the parts of the animal for something useful like tailoring/baking and you don't kill them simply for sport (read: experience) then it is acceptable for you to kill them when you require such thins as hides or meat. From a game dynamics point I belive that these animals are in fact on the QRG Protected Animals faction but do not give a negative faction hit for killing them, except in Surefall.

RE: ranger/druid
# Feb 07 2003 at 3:36 AM Rating: Decent
Don't think that regular bears/wolves/etc are on any faction, otherwise you would see a faction hit listed when you kill one. I think instead that the game dynamics are such that any druid or ranger is automatically not KOS to these animals, regardless of how many they have killed (because there is no faction). I guess you could say that it's like a "permanent faction" because a druid or ranger will always be non-kos, and other classes will always be kos.

I dunno why I posted all that, when it had already been said... oh well

Forgot to add.. there IS indeed a quest to up QRG Portected Animals!! Nesiff's Statue Quest starting in Surefall up's QRG Protected Animals, but as it's a loooow level quest would probably take forever n' a day to get enough hits from it

Is it just me, or is it ludicrous that "bears" and whatnot have faction standing. I mean, just because a bear in WC will still attack you, doesn't mean he's on some "unnamed" faction, it means he's a cranky ol' bear who wants to eat you.

# Jul 25 2001 at 5:11 PM Rating: Excellent
This was the message I saw when I gave the Regurgitonic to Mammoth, the huge Grizzly in Surefall Glades, in aid of my Bonethunder Staff quest. (Regurgitonic is obtained by taking the flask of nitrates from Gereal Woodone in Surefall to Kimble Nogflop in Ak'Anon)

In full, the faction hits were:

QRG Protected Animals gets BETTER
Protectors of Pine gets BETTER
JaggedPine Treefolk gets BETTER
Karana Bandits gets WORSE

Problems:

1) I don't think the boost is huge - I ended up doing it twice, and those grizzlies still con Threatening.
2) It's a really long round trip if you don't have Teleport.
3) The flask of nitrates and regurgitonic are Lore, so you can't take a stack up to Mammoth (think of his stomach!)
4) Mammoth is an infrequest spawn, and despawns quite quickly.

All this means that I don't think anyone is going to be allied to the grizzlies of Surefall Glade anytime soon, although this quest does offer the possibility...

The Nesiff's Statue quest only gives +1 to QRGProtected Animals. So you'd need to do the quest 100 times to get from apprehensive to indifferent, for example.

The bears in surefall no longer attack my enchanter after doing this quest 100 times, but the bears in the commonlands still only like druids and rangers. Those must be on a different, unnamed, faction.

cast a benevolence line on them and how you're considered by them won't change, because they have no faction to be boosted.

I too killed the TREANTS and DRUIDS and Bards, this can be fixed!!! Go to Black Burrow around level 30 and wax gnolls for a good 12-16 hrs for Druids, then go to Castle Mistmoor for another 8-12 hours and kill there to raise Bard faction...My DE's can shop some stores in Qey and Fp and shop all the Bard guilds. It really sucks when you guys spout all this crap about It can't
be fixed....It can be fixed in fairly short time 12-16 hours in each place. and you can repair all the Damage you did while trying to make those levels on <Bards-Treants-Druids and Rangers>

QRG(Qeynos Ranger Guild) Protected Animals.

Requires : Sneak or Invis if you are already KoS.
Suggested : SoW or Jboots.

Step 1 : Boost JaggedPineTreefolk (Killing Blackburrow Gnolls) this is assuming JPTFok don't like you either, which is probably the case. ;)

Step 2 : Sneak/Invis into Surefall Glade and go right to the stone building in the trees(JaggedPine Treefolk Shop). Say "What Favor?" to Vesteri Nomanoi to get a Claim Ticket.

Step 3 : Take the ticket to Nessif in Nessif's Wooden Weapons in South Qeynos for the statue. (eqatlas.com has a fairly easy map if you can't find it)

Step 4 : Return the Statue to Vesteri Nomanoi. Start the quest again "What Favor" hehe

There is another quest you can do here that raises QRGPA but it requires that you be indifferent or better already and is a somewhat longer walk.

This quest improves ProtectorsOfPine faction as well which is also difficult to raise.

2 Factions are lowered in doing this quest..

CircleofUnseenHands - fix by killing bandits and raiders.
UnkemptPreservers - fixed by killing EC/WC rangers, and Treants, but doing so also lowers QRG again. [unless you want to kill Xanuusus (lvl 50 treant) in North Karana]
#Anonymous, Posted: May 11 2001 at 4:57 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) WTF DON T kill Xanuusus the treant ;) first he may be pretty tough and second here is the most important he is the final NPC who give u the Natural Walker Scimitar when druids so the druid who come to achieve is epic will be mad to see him not here ;)

Bears are not political, that is why

Unkempt druids are not evil.
Regular druids are not good.

Unkempt simply believe that nature comes first and that no cities should be built, trees leveled for farming or what not.

Regular druids have become more domesticated and are in favor of some balance, ally themselves with city folk, etc (qeynos and such.)

The bears, or QRG animals, are not political. They are bears. They like both druids since, of course, both druids like them. They are protected bears. This is why you lose faction with them for killing Unkempt also.

You can get background on the unkempt thing by talking to them in rathe mountains and doing the nitrates quest from gereal woodone in surefall. Both regular druids and unkempt will kill to protect what they believe, even kill the other type druid.
Look here for faction fix.

QRG is not most treants or druids. I am a 35th lvl DE Necro and I spent about a week in Blackburrow. I am now indiff to qeynos guards, warmly to qeynos merchants, indiff to the treant in WK, indiff to half of the people in Surefall, but threateningly to the other half, threatening to Xanusus in NK, and indiff to the druids and treants at the NK/EK druid circle. Treants and most druids are on the faction of Jaggedpine Treefolk. When I started in BB, I was kos to them all, since I spent 22-29 at the treant in WK, solo. Since Xanusus and some of the people in Surefall are still threateningly, I assume they are either QRG, or Karana Residents (I killed the bard in WK from 12-16).
