I just looted A Wooden Heart from "a treant" in SK. It was the only thing it dropped. Lore Item, No Trade. Never seen this drop from a treant in SK before.

New item?
# Nov 22 2005 at 7:12 AM Rating: Decent
Killing everything in SK in an attempt at spawning the ever-elusive Quillmane, I killed the wandering treant out of spite. It dropped the Wooden Shards and an item called "Shrubbery". Lore, Wt: 0.6 Size Medium, Class:None, Race:None.

Anyone have an idea what its for? Didnt seem to be in the database here.

It doesn't do anything. It is just a joke item referencing Monthy Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail.

I camped the static treant spawns in SK for 5 levels back in the days when there was a constant group in this location and never saw a named treant.

They've also changed slightly since that time of old. They no longer cast a "swarm" DoT, but rather a creeping crud DoT (less damage it seems). Also I haven't seen any staves drop - this used to be a fairly common drop which sold quite nicely.

Oh and I've recently seen ones that con red to my level 24 char. Doesn't this mean they must be at least level 27?

Update: The DoT that they cast still says "swarm" in the spell text, but the effect is creeping crud.

Treants...
# Jan 22 2003 at 5:53 PM Rating: Decent
Hello, I had a question:

I was trying to find Grizzleknot, and read that teants were his placeholder. I killed two of them. How bad are the faction hits going to be? And how should I go about restoring faction with everyone who's mad at me now?
RE: Treants...
# Sep 08 2003 at 4:09 AM Rating: Decent
the wandering treants are his spawn holder, not the statics (or so I heard)

i remember hunting these years ago with my old cleric. he was a human and i took the risk of the faction hit. they did drop a lot of cash. but it was mostly copper and silver which i had to end up destroying,

the faction hit is NOT that bad. i grouped at least twice there for a few hours. I was amiable to qeynos guards. when i left i was indifferent.

and also after i was done with the treats, i checked druid faction. still indifferent.

so the faction hits aren't huge. i suppose, unelss you camp there regularly.

Either this is fake, or you are mistaken, not that it's important, but at level 27, you cant get KEI.

At one time there wasn't a level restriction on KEI. There were level 1 twinks running around with level 65 buffs including KEI, HoV, etc.

just a warining to all if you kill to many of these guys, you won't be able to go to surefall glade or now jagged pine, then you will get killed by the druids at the rings. just thought people should know this
RE: killing treants

As a Dark-Elf I am KOS in many places and the faction hits on killing treants makes me (more) KOS in these same places (hehehe I love that phrase). The treants are one place where being a Dark-Elf is very profitable and I don't care about the bad faction hits. One time I had a High-Elf Enchanter join us even after I told her about the bad faction hits. I kept telling her that she will be KOS in Qeynos and Surefall Glade and with the Druids but she didn't seem to care. We can only warn people about the bad things that can happen to them and if they still ignore the warnings, well, you have been warned!!
Still getting xp as a 34 Mage
# Sep 23 2002 at 8:41 AM Rating: Decent
I went with my 32 SK mate to get her to 33 (we did) and I made just over 100 pp in 4 hours of work and I did get 1 1/2 bubbles of xp here too.
Still con dark blue to a 30 Mage
# Aug 29 2002 at 10:55 AM Rating: Decent
Still getting excellent loot and xp as a 30 Mage. I'll go back when I ding 31 and see if its still as good.

Went back as a 32 mage and they conned dark blue to me. I solo'd them and killed 10 sets of 2 treants, lost my air pet 2 times, got over a full bubble of xp and over 30 pp of lot. Stayed there for about 90 minutes, the down time was no big deal because of the loot and xp.
RE: Still con dark blue to a 32 Mage
# Sep 05 2002 at 8:55 AM Rating: Decent
When I had 1 bubble of xp in 32 the treants were all dark blue to me. When I was half way into my second bubble in 32 I conned a treant that was light blue to me. It looks like the great treant xp ride ends in the 32's for me.
Watch out for that third treant
# Aug 28 2002 at 1:58 PM Rating: Decent
As a 30 Mage I was hunting the 2 treants with my 29 SK mate. Sitting there and just getting ready to attack again when we were attacked by something that came up behind me. It was a real surprise to have a third treant attacking me. Thankfully we were far enough away from the other 2 treants that they did not join in the fight. Just a word of warning, if you are going to solo the 2 treants make sure your back is clear before you start attacking the 2.
I can almost solo 2
# Aug 12 2002 at 2:37 PM Rating: Decent
As a level 29 Dark-elf Mage I tested this out and with 2 treants up I sent in my air pet one time and my earth pet the next. Killed the first ok but the second always came in and beat up my pet and diseased my pet with the creaping crud. Tried to heal my pet but then the treant killed it and if I killed the treant the damage and the disease killed my pet. Maybe later, level 34, I'll try to solo them but the loot in coins is great even in a group.
How would a 27 Mage do?
# Aug 07 2002 at 9:56 AM Rating: Decent
I was thinking of taking my 27 earth pet and seeing what I could do to these. Any suggestions on whether it's a good idea for me to solo these? I need the loot!!!
Should a ranger attack one
# Apr 24 2002 at 10:26 PM Rating: Default
how bad is the facion hit if me a lvl 35 ranger kills one
RE: Should a ranger attack one
# Jul 17 2002 at 12:07 AM Rating: Decent
Do you plan to go to Surefall glade or the city of Qeynos?

Kill enough treants and don't ever plan on going there unless you wanna wipe out all of Black Burrows quite a few times over just to get enough faction to not be KOS. 3 of the factions are within Surefall itself and a few NPCs in the hit for 300+

Since your lvl 35 it should be easy enough to kill off BB gnolls by the score but you'll have to spend hours doing it to restore faction.

Two pics
# Apr 18 2002 at 6:58 AM Rating: Default
There are 2 pics of this Treant: One for Xannuss or whatever and one for a real treant. However, real treant do NOT have red eyes so just because your lvl 30 and found a treant with red eyes, you shouldnt attack him! A real treant has diffrent eyes! Plus, the red eyed treant is a named Lvl 50! Beware! However, if your doing the druid epic, search for the one with red eyes.

I agree... I'ven't seen many treants but the ones in NK and the one in EK.. and I have pics from when a guy made one his pet.. if you want to see'em let me know. :) It had red eyes too.
