This is the second solo task in a series of five. It begins with Weligon Steelherder in Erudin Burning (located in the second floor of the building next to the dock area).

You must have completed the previous task, "Heretics Among Us" prior to being able to request this one.

    You say, 'Hail, Weligon Steelherder'

Weligon Steelherder says 'I wish I could muster the will to give you a hearty greeting, friend, but the shambles our beloved High City has been reduced to finds me quite subdued. The Castle burns, the people are dying, the spirit of Erud weeps. A great apocalypse has come to the city. A wave of [terror] has spread to our city, and it appears unstoppable.'

    You say, 'Terror?'

Weligon Steelherder says 'Here we sit, exhausted, having been driven from the city by the Heretics and their ilk. Hundreds, perhaps thousands of them fell, and yet they simply kept coming. No matter how many we killed, there were always dozens more. It makes no sense. There cannot have been so many of them lurking in all Norrath, let alone within striking distance of [Erudin].'

    You say, 'Erudin?'

Weligon Steelherder says 'Our proud city, the bastion of civilized thought in a weary world, is all but completely destroyed. Endless teams of heretics have taken the city by storm, overwhelming all of our defenses in hours. There are but [few] of us left - not enough to turn back the murderous surging masses of Heretics come here to destroy, pillage, and terrorize. The castle burns brightly above us. . . and I am at a loss to express my shame and sorrow that such an event could ever have been allowed to happen.'

    You say, 'Few?'

Weligon Steelherder says 'Yes, a few of the survivors of the city have barricaded ourselves here and in the Meditation Chamber. A few of the Deepwater Knights, some of the city sentinels, anyone else who managed to take up arms and follow us here without having their throats cut by the marauders. In Erud's name, I swear we shall earn vengeance upon these jackals who have destroyed the city. The heretics may have succeeded in their goals and made a mockery of all that Erud stood for, but I assure you we will not let any of them rest. Whatever their dark plans may be, we shall find ways to [retaliate] against them. On the other hand, if you're interested in helping Arbin Derrex to push back into the city, I can send you to help [him].'

You say, 'How can I help him?'

Weligon Steelherder says 'General [Derrex] is helping gather a force to retake the city from the Heretics, but this will take time and there are a number of jobs to do before our forces can re-enter the fight. If you can provide [assistance], I'll tell you where he is.'

You say, 'What do you know about this General Derrex?'

Weligon Steelherder says 'I don't know [him] very well, he arrived only a few weeks ago. I will say he seems to have done much to shore up the situation and prevent the rout of the Deepwater Knights from unraveling the city in its entirety. What little of the city we still hold, we can thank Derrex for standing firm in the face of complete chaos.'

You say, 'How can I be of assistance?'

Weligon Steelherder says 'Arbin Derrex is organizing the defense of the Meditation Chamber. Go south and. . . well, you shouldn't have any hard time finding it, you might have been here many times before. I think the general will be needing help finding out what the condition is in the city, and how many have died.'

You have been assigned the task 'The Fallen Citadel'.

Speak with General Arbin Derrex 0/1 (Erudin Burning)

The general is located at about -340, 310 (in the area south of the dock area, along with several other quest NPCs).

You say, 'Hail, General Arbin Derrex'

General Arbin Derrex says 'Would that we could have met in happier times, friend. As you are no doubt aware by now, the Heretics have hurled an unstoppable army upon the High City and driven out all they could not get their wretched hands on and kill. Though I expect that all our friends and allies in the city proper are now dead, I will entrust you to take this casualty list and learn whether Belario, Telld'mare, and Eniela are alive or dead. . . or worse. I will also expect you to help us determine the status of the Temple of Divine Light and the City Armory. Go through the tunnel the enemy's skeletons have dug in the wall.'

Determine the condition of the Temple of Divine Light 0/1 (Erudin Burning)

Further south is a tunnel leading into what was once the main area of Erudin. The ruins of the Temple of Divine Light are just outside the tunnel's exit.

Determine the condition of the City Armory 0/1 (Erudin Burning)

This is the building to the east of the Temple.

Find Sentinel Belario 0/1 (Erudin Burning)

Find Gorion Telldmare 0/1 (Erudin Burning)

Find Translocator Eniela 0/1 (Erudin Burning)

The above three NPCs are in close proximity to one another. Gorion and the Sentinel are on the ground while the Translocator is on the balcony outside the Temple of Divine Light.

Speak with Translocator Eniela 0/1 (Erudin Burning)

    You say, 'Hail, Translocator Eniela'

Translocator Eniela says 'Do not try to move me, adventurer. I am done to death, and expect my spirit to depart shortly. The attack came with such force, from every angle, there was no time at all to react. Look at what they have done to the city. It is tragic, is it not? The Library stands in ruins, desecrated by the heretic mobs. This was their great aim, to destroy Norrath's greatest repository of learning and lore. Ages of information have been lost. I am. . . thankful I will not live to see what becomes of our city now.'

Kill 3 skeleton warriors 0/3 (Erudin Burning)

Speak with General Arbin Derrex 0/1 (Erudin Burning)

You say, 'Hail, General Arbin Derrex'

General Arbin Derrex says 'It is sad that Translocator Eniela lingered for awhile, only to die in front of you. So terrible and tragic. Though it is unlikely that we shall all see the morrow, we will at least go down in a terrible froth of blood, and force the Heretics to pay dearly for our lives, and the lives of people like Eniela. At least you have successfully completed your task. You are fairly efficient and responsible, the way I like my subordinates.'
