Note: this is extremely difficult factionwise for anyone other than a dark elf necromancer or shadowknight.
At the end of the previous quest, you heard this: Loveal S`Nez says 'So you have succeeded where others have failed. You show promise. Take this then. You shall be a valuable asset to the Dead and soon this shall be of value to one so great. This will help you on your way. Are you still interested in my [appointed tasks]?' You say, 'I am interested in your appointed tasks.' Loveal S`Nez says 'Very well. You have gained the appropriate power. I require you to journey to the Commonlands and seek out Kizdean Gix. He is a member of a very important force. Tell him 'Utalk Adarev Otcin'. Remember this password.' Travel to the Commonlands and find Kizdean Gix roaming near the tollbooth. You say, 'Hail, Kizdean Gix' Kizdean Gix says 'If you have business then out with it!! If not, then please be gone. I have little time to waste on chitchat!' You say, 'Utalk Adarev Otcin.' Kizdean Gix says 'You speak the words of the Dead. You must be the assistance Loveal was to send. You must work quickly! Inside Befallen are the three pieces to the [Thex Mallet] which are to be returned to Loveal. Find Hubard L'rodd. He was my assistant. Give him this note and he should have information.' You receive "a tattered cloth note." Travel to Befallen. Inside, near the well, you will find Skeleton Lrodd. Give him the note. skeleton Lrodd says 'Search!! Find Windstream. Find the mallet!! One. Two. Three.' Handing in the note will spawn Cmdr Windstream on level 3. Kill Cmdr Windstream and loot the Mallet Stem. You have slain Cmdr Windstream! Other Befallen necromancers are now on Burning Dead faction. Kill An Elf Skeleton and loot Mallet Head and Mallet Hilt. Put the Mallet Head and Mallet Hilt inside the Mallet Stem and hit Combine. This will complete the Thex Mallet. Journey back to Neriak 3rd Gate and give the mallet to Loveal S`Nez. Loveal S`Nez says 'Oh how grand it is!! Look at it!! I feel the power trembling within. Who would have thought such an item would be abandoned? You have performed supremely. Queen Cristanos shall reward me greatly and I shall reward you greatly. The min faction may indeed be amiable, but I know that it is higher than 192. I cannot get this quest at 192 (Amiable). I can't get my faction any higher with this test char yet.
In this quest description, you are asking Loveal about the Thex Mallet before you should have ever heard about it.
I do not know if this is correct but it does seem to flow better in this order:
During the Messages for Neriak quest:
You deliver a Sealed Letter from Kizdean Gix to Loveal S`Nez and he tells you all about the Thex Mallet, Befallen, and the King and Queen but it doesn't lead to the quest it is just information.
If you then 'Hail' Loveal S`Nez and go through his quest, Sir Lindeal's Testimony it will end with the opening dialogue for this quest.
After:
Loveal S`Nez says 'Very well. You have gained the appropriate power. I require you to journey to the Commonlands and seek out Kizdean Gix. He is a member of a very important force. Tell him 'Utalk Adarev Otcin'. Remember this password.'
It seems that you should go straight to Kizdean Gix instead of asking about the Thex Mallet because
a) you either already have seen it from the Messages for Neriak
or
b) you would not know to ask about it.
Also, during this quest, if you have the correct version of Kizdean he will respond to [Thex Mallet]:

Kizdean Gix says, 'The Thex Mallet is a very special weapon of elven creation. It is as ancient as Norrath itself. Queen Cristanos commands that we find it and return it to Loveal S'nez. That is all you need to know.'

We could use a verified/cleaner write up of this quest as it currently function in game. Are some dialogues currently broken or just some parts are not reported here?
quested in about 30min...too bad it takes that long to cast...figured it might come in handy some day...who knows? quick turnaround after soloing a mob, to take on another.
Cleric dies and has to run back, chanter mezzes all and your tank is low...why not zap him with this incase things get sticky again....
anyway, better prepared than not.

I'm currently working on the quest as I type this... I had to make a DEF in order to get gix to give me the note... You have to use the password to get the right letter... I'll let ya know when I get the last piece... Holla!

Yes, I have finally finished this quest, not too long after starting I may add... Best part of tryin this quest, was that when I first read about this quest, I was trying to find a quicker way to get the skellie forman to spawn, well found out about the quest, went out to kill Gix, only to find it's the wrong letter, lol... But when I came back in to take my main downstairs, as Gix wouldn't give me the note with my main, had to make a puppet in order to get Gix to give the letter, so I go in with my main to hop down the hole and get in position to take out Cmdr... Well I walk in, see a excavator and kill him, bang! chat box says that the skelly foreman says his little warning that he's in the zone, get the bridle and head to freeport as I would have to camp to get the puppet in... Plus it's patch night, so I'd lose it if I stayed on anyways...
Took a few elf skellys to get the two other parts, but it's done... Gonna have to sell it though as I don't have anything that could use it, but hey, it's completed quest, lol...

Yet another "an elf skeleton" kill and still no pin... Got a mallet head, and the hilt, no pin yet... Also, NO PHers for the skelly to spawn, he popped as I was typing the last message... Still in search...

I just Finished The quest pretty fun. I returned thex mallet to whats his face in the lodge of the dead and got the reaper of the dead. Looks like an ok weapon but im thinking of selling it at the bazaar on kane bale server. Any suggestions on how much, or should I give it to a vendor they will give me 10pp. Note If you jump down the well after handing the skelly the note you can get right to cmndr windstream. also on lvl 3 there is a locked door. I didnt have the key just meditate and the elf skellys come right through. I got both peices this way kinda funny, but it worked

I am doing the quest now any help would be appreciated. Im at the befallen and i gave the note to the right skelly and just curious how do you get through the locked doors to get to the other levels

on each level you will find a npc shadowknight who drops the key to get through the door to the next lvl down. the shadowknights in the lower levels drop not only the key for the next door but also the key for each of thre doors previous, so an alternative to hacking your way all the way down is to jump down the well that Llrod stands next to which takes you all the way to the bottom, where you can kill (along with the quest mobs) the ogre SK who will drop the keys to all three doors so you can get back out.

I just got the final piece to this quest today. Not sure if this helps anyone but a couple of pieces of info for anyone tring to do this quest. First off Kizdean Gix is a Dark Elf Necro. I didnt know this while looking for him becuase for my Race a human pally he arrgoed me right away. He seems to be a bit of a undercon at lvl 30 non twinked he took 3 and 1/2 bub of health off of me. If you kill him he drops the note as loots so if you cant talk to him you can still do this quest. I took the note to Skelton Lrodd and handed him the note again not sure if it was becuase of my faction or race he would not accept the note. Much to my suprise Cmdr Windstream spawnd anyways just from attempting to give him the note. I hope this helps anyone who isnt exactly sure what to expect from every NPC in the game.

The note Kiz drops when you kill him is for a different quest... Burning Rapier I believe.

Kizdean Gix is a Shadow Knight. He Harm Touches.
How do you get Reaper of the Dead? Give the Mallet to somebody? Can I get the RoD with this quest?

Ok, I did this quest on Brell yesterday. Here is the skinny.
Go down to the third floor of Befallen, inside the secret corridor. The secret chamber is almost straight across from the door on the left as you come in through the locked door. You might have to strafe for it a little bit. Right when you go in there will be a chair in the hall. This is where Commander Windstream spawns. Camp out and either jump on a DE alt or make one up right quick. (I was lucky enough to have a little nec in the neighborhood.)
Take your DE to WC. As soon as you zone in /shout I am here to do the Gix quest please do not kill him! at least twice. Go to Gix and tell him the magic words utalk adarev otcin. He will give you a note and tell you to go to Llrod.
This is where having a nec is nice, ie. IvU. Run to Llrod, he is in the second door on the right, all the way back by the well. Give him the note and, if you are low level, run yer **** out of Befallen or camp immediately.
Jump back on the char down in Befallen and kill the Cmdr. He had spawned and was already killed in the time it took me to switch chars, but luckily the guys who killed him gave me the combining piece. I was amazed it was not No Drop. Now, wait for the elf skeleton to spawn. He spawns right inside the third locked door. I just went around slaughtering silly undead and necros while waiting. I got lucky and had both pieces in two spawns. Put the head and hilt in the combining piece and Voila! Thex mallet.
One piece of advice, make an inv hotkey to put at least the third door key in. All the ghouls, necros, ice bone, and elf skeletons are runners, and for some reason do not deem it necessary to open locked doors when they go through. But if you spend enough time down there you will learn their pathing when they run, it is pathetically predictable.
I did this quest with a 31 war and 9 nec.

Has anyone done this Quest reecently? My shadow knight has completed the Sir Lindeal's Quest and Loveal S'Nez has given me the password to deliver to Gix. I have found Gix, said password - absolutly no response at all from Gix. Anyone have any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciatted, Thank You.

you have to TALK to Gix to get the right note from him, and hand it to "skeleton Llrod" but you've gotta be a DE necro to get the zombie to spawn. What is the reward if you hand in the mallet, as the ring of the dead is now removed?
You dont have to be a DE necro to get windstream to spawn im a DE shadowknight and got him to spawn

ok it tells you how to get the thex mallet, not the reaper of the dead. does the thex mallet have complete heal? if not, what do i do to get the reaper of the dead?i think that the complete heal would be great for decreasing downtime between soloing!well, any information on the subject would be appreciated thank you.
You turn this wpn into Loveal and he gives u the Reaper of the Dead, i think anyway thats what a friend told me.

this item use to rule tell they nerfed it 2002 in march
it use to complet heal instante cast time
now it has a 30 sec cast time and is useless
if i need a ch i need it 10 sec or faster or i gess i dont realy need one

THE Quest is not broken, when you hand Llrodd the note, a named zombie on the 3rd floor spawns behind hidden wall, kill him and he drops one of the 3 pieces u need for mallet.

Is this quest Broken Now? I have 2 pieces of the mallet from the Elf Skellie, but I have been unable to get Llrod to do anything after giving him a note. I get the note off of Kidzean's dead body.

The note you get from Gix's body is not the same one you get from talking to him. That's what you are doing wrong.

Be sure to have a DE Necro hand the note to Lrodd.
