This is the second Monk Shackle quest. Master Raska is located at approximately 390.29, 113.16 in the Cabilis Monk Guild (The Court of Pain). After completing the previous Shackle quest (Shackle of Clay), Raska mentioned the Shackle of Stone...

You say, 'Tell me about the shackle of stone'

Master Raska says 'Interested in the shackle of stone are we? They are made for monks who have earned their first two shackles and are ready to climb up to the next rung. A monk who feels he is ready to wear the shackle of stone must first [perform the task of cleansing].'

You say, 'I am ready to perform the task of cleansing'

Master Raska says 'Go forth to the outer gates and seek out the Iksar bandits. They have refused to bow to the will of the empire and shall pay dearly for their traitorous ways. They often wear bandit masks. If you return with two bandit masks and the shackles of dust and clay then I shall reward you with the shackle of stone.'

The iksar bandits that drop the masks Raska is looking for only spawn within the central pit in The Field of Bone. They'll be wearing blue and brown clothes rather than the average yellow clothed iksar outcast models.

Upon turning in the Shackle of Clay, Shackle of Dust, and the two Iksar Bandit Masks, you'll receive your Shackle of Stone and gain positive faction hits with the Legion of Cabilis and The Swift Tails.

Master Raska says, "You have done supremely, ________. You have earned your shackle of stone. Master Niska will now help you on your way
to earning the shackle of rock. May the elements guide you to the next rung."

    Trick didn't work
    # Dec 27 2000 at 3:34 PM Rating: Default
I tried the trick to get the 2nd shackle recently (Dec 2000). I got exp for completing the quest but didn't get another shackle. Immediatly after, it told me that someone was examining my equipment. I knew I was alone in the courtyard so I did a "who" on that person and it was a GM on another continent.

I guess he was checking to see if I got the second shackle. There must have been a trigger on this event that let him know about it. The item is a No-Drop Lore item. They must have closed the loophole.

    Sorry guys.

It's not clear from your message whether you were trying to get a second Shackle of Stone, or complete the *second quest* to get the *third shackle*.

If the first, you didn't get another because they are Lore.

If the second, I have no clue as to your problem, I have used this sort of "trick" (often referred to as multi-questing) to do hundreds of different quests which involve handing in no-drop items. If you have no inventory slots open you will lose the item, but you should have had a space or two open from where you were carrying the masks (unless you *really* pushed the limit, holding one mask on the cursor and taking the other from your face slot).

As for the GM message -- new GMs (and maybe guides) seem to enjoy testing their new abilities by spamming nonsense across the system. The inspect message tends to be a favorite, but I've seen some pretty strange stuff along the same lines, such as "picked your pockets"...

Um, on Brell server (and probably around the date you posted this) I was running through Nek invised and got an inspect message from a GM. Some checking with friends and guildmates revealed that they all had gotten the message - it wasn't really a GM inspecting me from across the world, it was a GM broadcasting a fake inspect message to the server. Just a thought...

Dang, I gave my shackle of dust to one of the trainers early cause that's what I thought I was supposed to do. So does this mean I am hosed, and should just start another char? Argh.

    Thanks for any help.

This should work just fine; I have an Iksar character that has done the first one or two quests from *each* of the classes, using a dummy char of the appropriate class to hand in the newbie item first.

What did you find out about this. I did the samething. Now I am level 10 and really don't want to restart the char again.
    Another Mask

You should get a third mask to wear, at AC 3 and 0.0 wt it's worth it. Also, many players will leave an Iksar Bandit corpse with the mask on it for lower lvl Monks to loot. Make sure it is an abandoned corpse first though.

I got this shackle by L5 using this simple tactic: grouping. I grouped with some SK's and a shammy over by the ramps and pulled the bandits to them. Not hard. Took me about 10 min to get this shackle, the one before it was harder.
I will admit, this one would be hard to solo, but if you find a group at the ramp at the end of the path in the field of bone, you shouldn't have any problem getting this shackle. Also, it makes a decent peice or armor as well.

The level is specified assuming solo or snall groupof similar level for lower level quests, or somewhat larger groups and/or more spread for higher quests. It is given as a guideline, NOT a requirement. Most quests could be done by a level 1 if all you need to do is loot stuff, survival & faction requirements often mean you need to be a little higher.
    Do not worry

The GM's are well aware of quest splitting already. They call it "unintended functionality" but do not call it an "exploit".

And it does NOT work for quests where you must combine the items in a container before handing them in. Have you noticed how a LOT more of the newer quests use containers?

When you make a lvl 1 Iksar Monk you have a note hand it in to Grand Master Glox for the Shackle of Dust

This technique works for any quest. Its commanly called quest splitting and is done the most often with Jboots. I personally have done it 10+ times, all successful.

I can confirm the fact that you can get the shackle of stone if you accidentally destroyed your shackle of dust. The trick above worked perfectly for me.

Their tiger kung fu style is strong but our dragon style will defeat it
