This quest begins with Sentry Kale at location 830, -435, 43, in Skyshrine.
You say, 'Hail, Sentry Kale' Sentry Kale says 'Another Halfling, in the great shrine? Perhaps the times have gotten worse than we had expected -- I wonder if I will need to reactivate my [sentinel] for further use in my stead.' You say, 'What sentinel?' Sentry Kale says 'It was not too long ago that I was merely a chunk of walking velium in the eyes of most who traveled through the shrine. However that golem was in fact one of my sentinels used to keep my identity secluded, and took on the tasks that I gave it. However, there has been a problem recently with our supplies, and I have had to take it offline until further notice.' You say, 'What problem?' Sentry Kale says 'As you may have noticed, there are a great deal of golems and gargoyles within the shrine that consist of velium. These are our guards and they serve us well, however with extended use of these creatures comes extensive repair needed. It is because of this necessity to keep our sentries and lookouts working well that we require a great deal of velium ore stocked and ready for use. Unfortunately, our supplies have been running thin and we are in need of a new shipment of ore.' You say, 'I will deliver the supplies.' Sentry Kale says 'I may have been wrong in my initial thoughts about your race, Halfling. You may just prove to be worth my time. Take this note now and find Ungdin. Please hurry and remember to keep this information to yourself.' Sentry Kale will hand you a Velium Delivery Note, which you are to take to a Coldain dwarf named Ungdin in Thurgadin. He is located at 150, -23, -6.25. (Go into the mines and take the center tunnel. Continue in that tunnel until you come to the next fork of three tunnels. Take the one on your right. He is at the end of that tunnel. There's a table and bench in the room with him.) Ungdin says 'Hmmm, not sure why you're giving me all this. <cough> 50 pieces <cough> of platinum <cough> Whew, wow, I may be coming down with <cough> and the note <cough> something.' Give him 50 pp. Ungdin's eyes dart about the room before retrieving a large box from under the table. He takes the platinum and the note, then hands you the box without a word. You will have "A shipment of Velium Ore" in your inventory. Take that back to Sentry Kale in Skyshrine and he will say the following: Sentry Kale says 'You've returned, and with the shipment of ore intact! It was wise to send you out on that mission, ______, and I'm glad you did not fail. If you're looking for more assignments to do, I may have something that is just right for you. If you're interested in it, just let me know and we'll talk.' Your faction standing with Claws of Veeshan got better. Your faction standing with Yelinak got better. Your faction standing with Kromzek got worse. You gain experience!! You receive 7 copper from Sentry Kale. You receive 6 silver from Sentry Kale. You receive 10 gold from Sentry Kale. You receive 4 platinum from Sentry Kale. Platinum reward will vary. You may not get the Bracer of Hammerfal each time and it won't tell if you get one, you'll need to check your inventory if you do get one, but he will finally give you one. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Confirmed that Kale won't give this quest at kindly. I suspect it'll open up at warmly.
Were the hell is this guy i looked and looked and looked i asked a monk with the bracer were e was and e said he was moved..... if you could give me a loc or directions id be really happy!!
I've only done one scouting mission through the re-fortified Skyshrine, so I'm trying to remember where I saw Sentry Kale - and my log confirms that he's still there. I think he was near the pool room where the portal to Cobalt Scar is located. From that room, go through the north gate and hang a right. I think I remember him being in one of the three rooms between there and the gate to the dragon area.
If you don't find him in those three rooms, try the long east-west lower passageway with the side rooms with merchants; but I think he's in the first place I mentioned.
Be warned that the inhabitants of Skyshrine are less trusting of visitors these days, so you may need to do a little extra faction work to get the retrieval assignment now.

Does Sentry Kale still give out this quest, if so is faction a concern, other than not being KOS that is.

Ok I have hailed this guy and he says:
"Ah, the strangers, I have heard word of you. Why come you to the Skyshrine? Do you wish to be of assistance to the kin? If so, I may have a task, if you are willing.
I had a friend kill him to see if he will give a different responce. If this is the only response I will get how do I get him to give me the note? What do I have to say?

I did this damn quest 6 times before i got the f****** bracer. 300p wasted! Well not exactly wasted. It looks wicked on an Iksar :).

Just so you aware, it doesn't appear you always get an item for a reward. I did the quest three times before I got the bracer. The first two times all i got was faction and money. I checked my inventory for a bracer or hammer, finding neither.

One night last week i was in the Bazaar hanging out near the Arena, when i met a new friend there (Lvl 60 Wizard) and he summoned some Shattering Hammers. Ive seen people do it before but this time i really wanted to know, so i asked him what item did that and how to get it. He told me it was called the Bracer of Hammerfal and that the quest was really easy, you just had to raise your faction with CoV so that 1. You wouldnt die in Skyshrine, and 2. just so you could do the quest. Anyway, i spent the entire week killing Giants in Great Divide and leeching faction from Giants in Kael that other higher lvl groups were killing. FINALLY after about 100000 Giants i was Dubious, lol yes just Dubious with CoV. I did my dance of joy then went to Skyshrine, but Sentry Kale was on the wrong quest (DOH). So i went to bed and the next day i got on EQ and went to Skyshrine, only to find out that Sentry Kale was on another quest this time, and not the one i needed. I was in luck, as a group of people entered Skyshrine to hunt! I asked them if they could kill Sentry Kale so that i could do the Bracer of Hammerfal quest, and i explained how he was on the wrong quest at the moment. They killed him and 35 minutes later he spawned, but he was on the wrong quest again. They killed him once more along with all of the other creatures they were hunting, then they all left the zone. So i was really hoping that this next spawn was the right one, otherwise i would be screwed! Well 35 minutes later he spawned and YES he was the right one! I got the note from him and got a Port to GD, ran to Thurgadin and turned in the Note and 50pp to the Dwarf down in the Mines. Reveived the Box of Velium Ore, then got a Port to Cobalt Scar and zoned into Skyshrine. I was sweating and shaking when i approached Kale, i was hoping like mad i would get the Bracer and not a stupid Shattering Hammer or just Coins. I turned in the Box and WAM i got the Bracer on my first attempt! WOOHOO! I told my guild the zone, all my friends that i had finally received it and especially on my first attempt, what luck! Anyway im really happy now that i have this Bracer, its really cool and hey, if you ever see me on EQ sometime and need some Hammers, just say so. I can summon as many as you want =)

I wouldn't try it unless you kill lots o' giants. I was a barb warrior of rallos zek and without any faction changes on velious I was scowls to CoV so I woulndt try and go into SS you'll die for sure.

I just did this quest 7 times tonight and this is what I was rewarded each time:
1) Coin
2) Coin
My friend did it here and got the bracer
3) Coin
4) Coin
5) Bracer
Then I can back after a raid to get one for my bard
6) Bracer
7) Bracer
Completely random even though the every three times thing looked convincing.

Ok this is what I found...

Apparently you have to Check to see which one of him is spawned, one quest he asks ab out getting stuff from spiders in the guard's pantry, and the other he gives out the Bracer quest. (as far as I know, spawn is random, so he will change every once in a while) Once you get the Velium Shipment quest, take what Kale gives you to the Dwarf in the Thurgadin Mines along with 50 platinum (www.eqatlas.com has a map of it, and there is only one Dwarf in there). The Dwarf will say something, and be looking a bit shady, and then give you a velium shipment. You take this back to Sentry Kale, but first Hail him. Like i said before there are two versions of Kale. Make sure he is giving out the same quest, and not the qeust for spiders in the pantry. If he is giving the right one, give him the Box from the dwarf, and there is a 1 in 6 chance that you'll get the bracer. That does not mean that if you do it 6 times you are sure to get it, but your chances are very good. =)

It only say to "a dwarf in mines" which Dwarf? Does this NPC Dwarf have a nme? I don't wanna hand 50pp and the note to some random.
You are looking for Ungdin. Very tight fit past the rocks, even for a human. Large races will need to get shrunken to get to visit this guy.

The dwarf they are talking about is all alone. In the Thurgadin mines where the spiders and bats and stuff spawn theres a dwarf back there....just one dwarf so you shouldn't miss him

Nope... going from Cobalt Scar to Skyshrine doesn't require a key. Just climb up to the top of the tower and click on the statue.
However, you still need a key if you want to get back to Cobalt Scar from Skyshrine... if you don't have it, only way out of SS is through Wakening Lands or having someone port you out. There's a quest for that key, look it up if you want to... but I'd just get ported out if I were you, the quest is a real pain for a minor convenience.

Or you can just kill this drake, Ziglark Whisperwing (he's like lvl 30), and get the key... shouldn't worry about faction hit if you're at least apprehensive.

I did the quest about 15 times yesterday. Too bad the bracers are nodrop because I ended up with 6. But after the patch today, he won't talk to me.

I did the quest mainly for for faction boosts. On the 4th try, I received the bracer. Still dubious, but I have the bracer. BTW, it looks like my RMB, except it is gold when worn.

I completed this quest last night and received my Bracer of Hammerfall. I received the quest from Sentry Kale, found the dwarf in Thurgadin after much searching, and returned to find that Sentry Kale had been killed and was now giving out the spider quest. After a week of just barely missing Kale giving out the Bracer quest, he finally spawned today handing it out. I handed in the box, received the bracer, and my faction jumped from indifferent to amiable.
Now to get a Rallic Pack to put the heavy lump of metal in :P

I have a barb warrior (follows tribunal), and have done nothing to alter skyshrine faction, for better or for worse. what would my faction be? KOS or dubious/better?

Hello, i did this quest in june of 2002. I was using sneak to turn in my velium shipment and was indifferent. I also re Hailed Sentry Kale to make sure he was still giving this quest(Iwaited 4 days to get this quest from him. I had my first 2 pack slots open, had to destroy a fair pack to do so. I turned in my shipment, he said well done, I got 2plat, some gold silver and copper and faction hit along with NO noticable exp.(level 52) I petitioned a gm and waited almost 2 hours to be told this. The Bracer is a Rare reward. You will not get it everytime. It is totlly random. The GM did the quest 3 times before he got the bracer.(Easier for him, he can just do it somehow with no running back and forth to Ugdin) Im human and need shrink potions to get to Ugdin, I then have to spend plat to get ports back and forth......GM said it could work for me the next time, or it could take many more trys, but he encouraged me not to give up. Easy for him to say. If i want this item bad enough its gonna cost me lots plat i aint got. i will try once more and then forget about the Bracer of Harmful. Its a nice toy, but knives and stars are cheap .

Im a 52 monk on a very low budget, im trying to understand this. When i return the package to Kale should i make sure hes still giving out that same quest or another. Hope someone can explain.
Myself being a level 40 bard, I completed this quest today with one 1 attempt *I took the advice on this forum and had two empty slots open in inventory*. Why you ask should bard who can pull with song complete this quest? Purely for the fun of it. The hammers are summoned 20 at a time and Warriors and Monks LOVE you in groups because its free pulling items and a great way to improve skill for no cost to you. *besides the 50 plat for the shipment ^_~;*
For those of you bards asking.. yes the level 11 faction song DOES help tremendously in getting Sentry Kale to respond to you. I was at "Threatend" but with the Charisma song, I was boosted up to Dubiously and Kale responded to my hails.
***Note, I casted Charisma song without killing any giants yet and I got a "Beat it scum" message from Kale the first time I tried it. I attended a Kale raid near the arena and helped slaughter about 40+ giants. That brought me from Scowling to Threatend. After about 50 more Giant kills in Kale near the zones including faction mooching off other groups when I couldn't get a group.. I was still threatend but with song, I was finally was able to get the quest message to start.***
Also, Sentry Kale is located to the LEFT of the gated entrance... follow path take the first left. Follow some more along the left side and Kale will be in a small room on the right with some Gargoyles and merchants. He's standing against the wall.
BTW if you can get your hands on some giant helms and give them to the guard at the gate entrance.. each helm is worth about 10-15 giant kills cause after 6 helms, I was up from high threatend *charisma song to give him the helms* to Low aprehensive after zoning and without my carisma song. (skipping dubiously altogether) =) nice huh?

I think of it this way...
Bard, can cast while running, can attack while casting, put those 2 together with free throwing weapons, now while kiting, instead of doing my normal 40 some odd damage per tick to the mob, i've got these 9 damage items flying down on his head, getting (on a good round) upwards of 75 damage per tick!!!

I'm at "glares threateningly" with dragons, and I got the note from him today. Going to go to thurg and get the thingamijigger and try to turn it in to him while still kos, sneaking and such.

I was wondering if the dwarf u hand in the money and note to is a certain NPC that Sentry Kale tells you to go to or is it just any dwarf down at the thurg mines?
I have heard the chance of getting the bracer is 1/6..
So that is max 300pp for a pretty nice bracer....
Keep in mind of you are teetertottering with somebody else, and you dont get it by the 6th, rest assured THEY did... = )
