This might have changed recently, as I have been gone from EQ for a few months, but when I left I had this for my BL. If you put it in an inv slot you can summon the hammers and throw them like normal, the only thing you can't do as a class not listed is wear this for stats.
Has anyone tried them to see if they can be given to enchanter pets as a secondary hand weapon for dual wield? I'm assuming they wont work since no sec posted but quite curious.
No, I have tried giving these to pets, but since they're a throwing weapon, not a meelee weapon, the pets can't equip it. If it's a charmed pet, however, you can actually loot it off the pet's body when charm breaks and you kill it. Wish pets could use ranged items, like bows, shurkins, shattering hammers.
Sorry, if your class doesn't have throwing, your throwing skill is permanently at 0. So you'll never be able to damage enemies using these (or at least, not much, ocassionally you'll do like 1 damage), sorry. Good news is, if the only reason you're throwing them is to pull, the mob you throw one of these at will still agro on you even if you miss. You won't do any damage, but you'll still **** them off enough to get their attention.
And I agree with you that rogues should be able to use these. It doesn't make sense to me that the class with the highest throwing cap (250) can't use a throwing weapon OF ANY KIND. Rogues should be able to use any and all throwing weapons, after all, they have the potential for throwing better than anybody. Why clerics, palladins, shadowknights, druids, and shamen can use this when they don't even get the throwing skill but rogues who can get more throwing skill than anybody can't, seems like a big goof on the part of Verant.
Rogues couldent use this because of "class balancing" since we can crit, and deadly with thrown weapons. Until luclin, the highest damage weapon that any rogue could use was forged javalins at 7 damage. The large rogues could use boulders, but what kinda balance would it be to have an item that could have an infinate amount of high damage weapons for a rogue to throw? People would complain and they would have just taken it from us. At least now we have all the various claws from luclin with 10 plus damage, just have to farm them.

Throwing weapons are really only used for pulling - damage is mostly irrelevant. You don't have to do damage to pull - a miss works just as well, as does a weapon that CAN'T hurt the mob (as long as the shot wasn't blocked by an obsticle).

You can't sell these, they're worthless. The bracer of hammerfall summons unlimited amounts of them. The ones you found were left on the ground by someone with the bracer.
No, they're not worthless. Unlike most summoned items, they're not no rent, and you can sell them. Although I wouldn't pay any more for these than I would for shurikens, they're a nice throwing weapon, but not THAT good. They're range is less than shurikens, by 5. Sure, they do a little bit more damage, but as others have said, damage on a throwing weapon is irrelevant, the only reason you use a throwing weapon is to pull, not to significantly damage the mob. Most people with a bracer of hammerfall will summon a stack or two of these for you for free if you ask. But some might charge a little. Just don't pay more than double what the same number of shurikens cost. If you're paying more than 2pp a stack, you're an idiot. After all, it only costs the person with the bracer time to summon these. It uses no mana, and the bracer has an unlimited number of charges to summon these.
i ahve finished the bracer of hammerfal quest with my monk, no you do not need ot equip it to summon, it works like jboots, and summons 20 hammers each click, and the hammer are NOT no rent, you can give it to others to use as well, it will STAY in your bags after you zone or log out, and no it is NOT fake, it's a real item and very usesful for monks :) since monks can not use bow, and it is great for pulling :)
It says it's a summoned item in the description... but it's not a NO RENT item.
If these are indeed summoned as-is by the bracer, that bracer has just become the most awesome reward ever! Just think about it... click, hand out a stack of hammers. Click, hand out another stack of hammers. Go to the Commons and start handing out stacks of hammers to everyone who can use them! Sure, the merchants probably won't buy them (If they do, you have unlimited income... use it now before it's nerfed.) but I'm sure lots of others will use them like crazy!

You are correct, these hammers are indeed NOT no rent. As for selling these to merchants for unlimited income, I checked, merchants will simply refuse to buy these (I'm not interested in buying that! It's worthless!). However, you can sell these to players if you find a willing buyer.
I know for a fact that these are Not no rent. I got a stack prior to going into PoF. Had to log several times, and still have them. So, yes you can zone with them, and yes if you log, you still have them.
These are NOT no rent. They stay with you when you zone or log off. I am a Cleric and do not have the throwing skill, but I still am able to throw these. I have only hit for 1 damage but its still cool.

To clarify about this person saying "you heard wrong" he was replying to a message now skipped by the filter, by somebody claiming they heard that the hammers are no rent and also no zone (can't take it out of the zone they were summoned in). NEITHER OF THESE ARE TRUE, they are definitely NOT no rent, and there is no such tihng as a no zone item, at least none I've seen in the 7 months I've palyed EQ. So this guy is correct.

What is even more odd is that some (at least druids anyway) don't even have the throwing skill but can use this weapon anyway? I'm positive this will be changed in some fashion, even it is to remove some of the classes that can use it.

WHy do they refuse to put any decent throwing weapons in the game that a rogue can use? (and don't talk to me about throwing boulders, only barb rogues can use them and they hardly count) Why the hell give rogues criticals with throwing weapons if you are never going to implement throwing weapons worth using? My criticals with throwing daggers are BARELY better than an average hit with my bow. PATHETIC!
What about the Halfling Knife? I've seen some short rogues do some nice throwing crits with those things. Not sure how to get them but I know its a quest for Sir Somethingorother in East Karana
Give 5gp to Sir Morgan in EK. Spend about 50pp per knife if you're lucky. They're pretty rare, and not worth spending the hours/money it takes to get one sitting there turning in 5gp over and over.
