I had this guy spawn at (-205, +110, 3). If you swim from Cobalt scar towards western wastes, you get to a water shaft quickly and have to drop down on the other side. its the first mob on the right hand ledge after you drop down. These days I try to label my maps and as soon as I close the map, the label poofs.

edit: while working on hunter ach, I had this guy respawn. the pather walking around by the western wastes zone line.

Was farming inks and this saw this dude up. He didn't look like the walrus dudes, he actually resembled the kodiak's in GD. I'd never seen him before so it kind of through me off

The Ulthork are Walrus People. So...no, not too much.
Ranger Solo ?
# May 26 2004 at 8:00 PM Rating: Decent
Looking forward to future solo fun, could a eq/am3 65 ranger take him down true solo. I have good gear (4500/1100/1400 at 57 with 18 aa's)

Also is he rootable/snareable/dottable ? I have wanted that hammer bad for a long long time for my ranger and esp alt zerker who is fully equipped in velious only gear (just for fun as I love velious)
Easy

61 Shammy soloed him last night easily, dropped nosering for me. Killed again with 58 warrior and cleric, again the nose ring. This mob is really easy and doesnt run, Both times first mob in zone from CS. GL guys, Oh, 61 Shammy pet fully buffed and mage items needs about 4 complete heals to tank him.
Soloable
# Feb 17 2004 at 7:42 PM Rating: Decent
Did this mob solo as a 65 druid , did have symbol,VoQ,9 and used replenishment and nature's recovery for buffs. Had to hela myself with Nature's infusion 3 times through the fight. Used Savage roots found it works better in this zone. Just dot him keep rooting him and he goes down np. Have mroe then enough time inbetween summons to put a dot in or a heal in. Gl all :)
New model

Cant miss this guy now... have killed him over the last few days regularly and he now spawns as a "feral Kodiak model " from Great Divide.... looks exactly like a kodiak with the long claws and the obvious kodiak look... dont know if he is just bugged or if he is permanently changed... never summons and has dropped one Hammer in 17 kills... Nosering is his common (every kill).

Camped him near the well, pulling everything around that area... he spawned behind the well in a corner, also seen him spawn at CS zone in and at the exit area by WW... looks like he can pop in place of ANY enthralled NPC.

Just looked at the NPC Rampaging Ulthork... although I have yet to find that guy up in my time in SG lately, the picture of him on this site matches what the "Enthralled Ulthork" looks like...
Misc info

I found it fairly easy to get to the 'Pool area' near to WW zone, from CS zone and to hold the area when I got there. C3 and Virtue can obviously help alot. The Shaman pet AA also helped to clear the non single pulls which frequent the Pool area.

I mostly pulled to a ledge above the waters edge. Did not get my Iksar scales wet much at all.

Info elsewhere confirmed - Ulthork is the mob with the white claws and can only be partially slowed (although it seemed it was always more slowed than not). It was not resistant to magic slow after Malo.

The Ulthork summons and took about 2 casts of the 2 top poison DOT's and 1 Epic cast before it went down with a buffed pet on it.

The Pool area is nice to camp generally if you want Kelp armor for twinks or resale and mobs in the area also drop gems and spells amongst other things.

The Hammer dropped after 5 Rare spawns. The Nosering dropped every time.

Spawn points
# Dec 28 2003 at 12:28 PM Rating: Decent
I have been camping this mob lately for the Hammer it drops. I noted the following on spawn points.

Upon zoning in from CS, the mob up at the zone in was an an 'Enthralled Ulthork' (the above). The Ulthork also spawned in exactly the same place immediately following the death of the first Ulthork. Safe to say this a spawn point of the rare mob.

Secondly, most of my camping was done at the Pool area near to the WW zone line. You can pull into the water but I found it easier to clear the roamers first and then camp at a safe spot up on the waters edge. I pulled all of the 'out of water' mobs in the pool area and in 6 hours of camping found that the only spot that the rare mob spawned was at the 2 mob spawn point immediately above the waterfall (to the right when looking towards the CS zone out). The mob nearest the water of the 2 marks the placeholder. The rare spawn appeared twice for me there.

Of the 4 rare spawns (in approx 6 hours) I got Noserings only. However my camp ended when I was about to set up for a few more hours and just before I did someonelse killed the rare spawn at the 2nd spawn point named above. The Hammer dropped and luckily was not needed by the group that killed the spawn and they gave it to my Warrior. Woot.

Anyonelse want to add info on other spawn points ?
for the 55 monk

Id say you shouldnt have any problems beating him down with a 56+ cleric. At 56 mobs nearby are easily pacified. Resisted one out of 10 tries on the pacify. In that case, just zone out to WW. Of course, have HoV, sham buffs if available and Cleric should probably have kei since mounts will not be castable in SG. You will have no problems keeping aggro with him if its just you and cleric. Remember so u dont waste your time on the other bulthors as much, he is the one with large white claws. If u dont see the graphic on his hands, you will be killing plain ole bulthors who drop various (kael, SS) armor gems and vendor fodder.
lol

if u have a 60+ chanter makes things easier, hes soloable with drood and cleric bot,(doubtful he can be solo'd by just a single drood) he does hit sorta hard around 2-300 and if he isnt slowed droods just dont last long) and at times had a mage friend or shammie friend to help. Since he summons, whaT I did was, root, dot the hell out of him, then he d get mad summon me, keep re dotting, cleric basically chain casted ch on me till mob fell. when drood was summoned, dots were harder to get off, so I nuked him with FIRE based spells. they resist cold a lot so mem up wildfire if u lvl 59, if not and have friends with u just remember to nuke with fire base. Nukes him for about 1 k. which is good nough, they dont have a ton of hps, just use fire based stuff. They nevre resist magic based dots, or fire base dots, but they did resist shammies poison/disease based for some reason. However, shammie was able to tank his **** when he got slow off and cleric just sat back as usual and ch'd while drood dot/nuked
heh

you may have killed 1000 of these things but the one u need to kill has WHITE claws, he is different than the other models u see in SG, he spawns randomly and usually is there if nobody has been in zone for awhile, IE: patch days, or just slow days in SG. His hands like I said are not just brown. I've killed him around 7 or 8 times, and evrey time he dropped either the 2hb, or miniature nosering, and also drops some a netted kelp piece to go with those two someitmes. But nosering or hammer EVERY time at least. He summons when he gets mad, but was easy to kill with 61 drood, with a cleric, or sham.. Use cleric to pacify nearby mobs, keep in mind pac works better there if cleric is 55+

Could a 56 druid solo these? Maybe by charming a manatee or something? Or maybe a 56 druid and a 60+ enchanter?

Camped SG for 12 hrs on and off over the week end - 2 new items drop seen from above mob-

Miniature Nosering: magic / Lore AC: 10, Dex: 6, Stam: 6, Agi: 6, Hp: 30, FR: 5, DR 5, CR 4, Reccomend lvl 45. Wt 0.1, Small size. Class Warr, Pal, Rng, Shd, Brd, Rog, and Bst. RACE: ALL
Slot: FACE (surprisingly)

Marvelous Stone Ring: Magic / Lore AC: 8, Str: 8, Dex: 5, Stam: 5, Char: 5, Agi: 5, Hpts: 30, Mana: 30, FR: 5, DR: 5, Reccomend lvl 45. Wt 0.1, Small size. Class: War, Pal, Rng, Shd, Mnk, Brd, Rog, Bst. RACE: ALL. Slot Finger

Mob can be PARTIALLY slowed by a lvl 63 ench. Not too hard to take down.. but with 2 or 3 adds, tend to make it hard.
Archmage can solo
# Aug 20 2002 at 2:51 AM Rating: Decent
Archmage soloed fairly easily by chain casting 4 lvl 57 earth pets, just don't nuke until the last pet so you wont get too much aggro.

ulthork tusks/pelts
# Oct 24 2001 at 3:41 AM Rating: Decent
First of all, thanks Mandicus for the great info on this zone.

Ulthork tusks are also used in a quest in CS with the otters, turn in 4 at a time to the chief for gems(including diamond/BD/jacinth etc), gems seem to be an uncommon reward for quest.

Ulthork pelts aren't used for anything I know of, and definately not tailoring.
